We stayed here for a couple of nights in early September.
We were made welcome by wardens who care about your needs, including lending us an extra EHU cable. We were shown to our pitch and offered assistance, if necessary.
We found the shower block and washing up/utility rooms were quite to our liking.
As stated elsewhere, the local shops catered for all we needed, we went to the fish and chip shop, these were lovely.

I was reading through the reviews of this site and was amazed to see two negative reviews for August 2012. I, too, was on this site for the whole of August and my first reaction was that they had confused the site they were writing about with another they had stayed at. As a result, I feel that I must write a response to these reviews.
Having spent much time at this site, I have never found any of the facilities to be dirty or ‘fairly clean’. I have always found them to be spotless, even at the height of the season. One of the reviewers commented on the heat of the showers, describing them as ‘too hot and dangerous for children’. I personally find the showers spacious and the temperature pleasant. I find the ‘push button’ to work them and the ‘set’ temperature helpful as all showers work differently and finding a suitable temperature before you can start to shower is often difficult. If they are too hot for children (or adults), there is a family room where the temperature of the shower can be adjusted.
I have never encountered more friendly and accommodating staff as at this site. When I have been in the shop/office when new arrivals have come, I have been amazed at how much effort they put into finding pitches that suit particular requirements, changing allocations round as far as they can to accommodate both groups and individuals. I was at the site, actually in the office this summer, when a colleague died suddenly, and saw that even then, as they did all they could to help his wife and struggled with their own grief and loss, they were aware that others on the site were on holiday and always kept up a smiling ‘front’ to the campers.
It seems to me that only those who were not allowed to put themselves and other campers at risk from fire, by not observing the 6 metre fire break rule, are leaving negative reviews when asked to move. Neither of these incidents were at Verwood, but in the last four years I have seen the remaining ashes of one burnt-out caravan, and a fire inside the tent next to me - the cooker had caught fire, but fortunately we were able to put it out with fire extinguishers before the whole tent went up – so I am very grateful for the care that is taken when pitching tents and caravans to ensure our safety. The policies are clearly stated in the back of ‘Your Place in the Country’ and those not happy with them should camp on other sites where the campers’ welfare is not given the same consideration.
Finally, I find this site pleasant, friendly place to be and have spent and hope to spend may more happy times there.

I'm currently staying at this site and have mixed feelings about it. This is actually our 3rd visit here and we only returned this year because we knew it had been newly re-furbished.
I will start with some positives, great location for visiting places like Poole, Bournemouth, Lulworth and Swanage but as has already been noted, you will need the car a lot.
The site shop isn't great but covers some of the basics, however, there is a Tesco Express and Morrisons about 10 mins away as well as an Indian restaurant and a really good fish and chip shop (the latter being better than the van that visits the site in my opinion).
The site facilities are good, the shower / toilet block has been newly refurbished. The showers are now push button with no temperature control but are warm and big enoght to take a child in with you if required.
For us the negatives are as follows:
Despite being newly refurbished, the hard standings are pretty poor. They are barely large enough to get a caravan and awning on and are not very level. Ours collected rain water like there was no tomorrow but that's probably because we were at the bottom of a hill? Even so, this shouldn't happen on new hard standing pitches. I don't know what's under the gravel coating on the pitches but whatever it is it doesn't want to offer any grip for rock pegs so I would recommend you use storm straps and / or pull your awning out so you can peg into the grass.
We actually booked to come here a year ago on the basis we wanted to be near our friends who were in tents. Whilst we are aware that they can not guarantee putting groups together, they couldn't have tried harder to split us up. They had one family down to be in the top field! We managed to 'negotiate' different pitches for the two tents so it turned out OK in the end - although the Wardens clearly weren't happy.
Our last issue was with the Wardens themselves. Upon arrival they didn't come across very friendly. When we were shown to our pitch, we were monitored whilst we unhitched our van and positioned it on our hard standing, anything less than millimetre perfect is not acceptable. Nothing like being put under pressure whilst setting up!
In summary, this has the potential to be a great site. Change the Wardens and sort out the hard standings.

We visited over August Bank Holiday weekend with another couple (who were in their own tent). Our friends had booked before us and had originally been told there Outwell Montana 6 and awning would fit on a standard pitch. We booked a Jumbo pitch with electric and subsequently our friends amended their booking and we had 2 jumbo pitches side by side.
The reception/check in was very efficient and we were led to our pitches by one of the wardens. He explained and outlined the markers on the pitch - our tent was not to go over these markers, although it was OK if the guy ropes went beyond the boundary markers.
So, we all set pitching our tents and after around 45 minutes the warden came back to ensure we were pitching our tents correctly. Unfortunately our friend’s awning was beyond the marker by around half a metre and the warden said in no uncertain terms that it couldn't stay there. Now I understand the rules are there for health and safety reasons but I don't expect to be talked down to.
So, to rectify the situation we moved the awning back a tad and all was well. Unfortunately we witnessed 2 more incidents over the 3 days where the same warden behaved in an unacceptable manner. One of the other incidents occurred after a deluge where a tent was literally a foot under water inside and they were told they could only move a few inches one way due to health and safety - never mind that their tent was under water. In my opinion the pitch should never have been offered in the first instance as it was so uneven.
A note worth mentioning re pitch sizes. Our friend’s Montana 6 with awning, barely fitted on a jumbo pitch and I fail to see how it would have fitted on a standard pitch (as what had been booked originally).
In my opinion the main area for tent pitching can lead to some frustration due to the fact that you could be pitched right in the middle of a field and have no choice but to walk right though fellow campers. The haphazard layout may suit those who don’t enjoy the more formal row layout but I found it annoying to keep walking and have people keep walking right by my tent.
The shower facilities were good. The fact both men’s and women’s were split into two meant that there were always showers etc available whilst the other half was being cleaned. One thing though, why do 99% of campsites have the showers at such an uncomfortable temperature? They are always too hot and in my opinion dangerous for children. They were kept fairly clean. I understand they have recently been refurbished too.
We didn’t use any other facilities so cannot comment on those.
The on site ‘shop’ (I use this term loosely) is made up of a couple of small shelves of products and a fridge. I thought this was very poor.
I echo the previous good comments about the fish and chip van. They were cooked while you waited and were of fairly good quality and reasonable priced. The van is on site on Wednesday and Saturday evenings 5. 30 – 7. 30.
There is a Tesco Express around 5 – 10 minutes drive away and also a pub, and takeaways nearby (Chinese and Indian). We ate at the Drovers Inn at Gussage All Saints which is around 10 minutes drive away. Superb food, not cheap, but some unusual offerings on the menu, including steak and chicken cooked on hot rocks.
The campsite is centrally located for exploring lots of beaches.
Sadly, I would not return based on the layout and the customer service received. I thought the Camping and Caravanning Club’s motto is ‘The Friendly Site’. I don’t mean for this review to sound too negative and I have tried to include positive notes where I can.

This site is excellently located between the new forest, Poole, Salisbury etc. That said you will use the car a lot as it is not really practical to walk into Verwood as the road is too fast/busy/narrow.
The toilets were very clean, and had just been refurbished. During what was a wet stay, the basic games room came in useful for the kids. Their highlight was buying fish and chips from a van, which attends the site on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. The chips were great. There is a small standard CCC playpark.
All of the standard CCC bins, water and drainage were there and were excellent.
The site is in an open parkland setting within 2 hedged paddocks, although there were quite a number of caravans and tents it did not feel crowded.
The staff and many other guests were VERY friendly.
For most of the stay our kids were the only kids on site, whilst that didn't put them off it might bore other children. That said, there were lots of kids over the weekends when it got much more lively.
Our children liked the peace and quite and chilled on site.
I agree with other reviewers that the levels of the hardstandings are not always right. It was very wet whilst we stayed, and whilst our awning kept out the rain, our breathable groundsheet could not withstand the puddles that developed on the hardstanding as surface water collected on it. That said, I am sure that this is an issue that can and hopefully will be resolved now that it has rained hard and everyone has had a chance to see where the rain collects.
The local country park in Ringwood forest is worth a visit as is Burley for anyone who wishes to cycle.

Just been from Monday to weds jubilee week. Unfortunately weather was not in our favour. It was difficult being in a tent. It was a long way to the toilet block in the rain. But when you got there it was very nice and clean. Always hot water and very clean.
Could of done with a tv in the games room. Nothing to do in the rain. The play area was new and the kids loved it
My tent was on a slope which made things a little difficult. Also need more electric points for people in tents and a toilet block closer.
No rubbish bins, except at exit. It was over the other side of the field.

Just returned from an excellent jubilee weekend at Verwood.
Yes, the sat nav does abandon you some distance from the site. If you are travelling from the West, just turn right at the next junction towards Verwood and the site is about half a mile on your left.
The C&C club have just spent a lot of money refurbishing the site to good effect. I read a few reviews on their website before booking. One man said he had been going to the site for 35 years but won't be going again because of the gradient of the new hard standings. I agree it is odd that the hard standings are not all flush with the new Tarmac roads but they are not that bad.
The pitches are close together in places. I managed to chose an end pitch out of four and was told to park my car the other side to my awning which meant that it was bang outside my neighbour's awning. Their car was bang outside the next person's awning.
The site was jam packed for the Bank Holiday but everyone was in good spirits and it made for a very happy atmosphere.
The new facilities are of a high standard and very clean. There is only one toilet block but both the ladies and the gents have two entrances each and can be closed off in the middle so you can use the other side when one half is being cleaned. This makes for a rather random distribution of toilet and shower cubicles. It is a bit of a lucky dip when you push a door open as to whether you will be sitting or standing depending on what you find on the other side.
There is an excellent dog walk straight into the woods. I also read a review from a woman who said she saw a deer in the woods on her first evening. We also saw a deer on our first evening which was truly amazing as my wife can't stop yapping. I can only assume the deer must have been stone deaf. I also saw a barn owl on another evening.
There is a very welcoming pub called The Albion about half a mile from the site. Dogs and children very welcome and a good selection of reasonably priced pub food. The staff and regulars in the bar were a bit quirky but very friendly joining visitors into their banter. There is also a conservatory style restaurant and a patio and beer garden. The only problem is that the road to the pub is very busy with traffic hurtling along and so not a particularly safe walk.
The site is also a very good base for the New Forest, Bournemouth, Poole, Lymington and the I of W.
There are no rubbish bins on site and you have to carry your waste to a compound by the exit. This is not immediately apparent and so there are constantly people wandering around the amenities block with bags of rubbish looking for the bins.
The wardens are normal.
All in all a very nice site and I would certainly go there again.

Just spent another great week here apart for the weather. Site was clean and tidy as was toilet and showers clean, although could do with updating. Plenty of water and waste water points.
This is ideal for a quiet break and for visiting the many towns and attractions in easy reach.
Staff are always very helpful and curtious. Lots of dogs about which were largely well behaved. All in all well worth a visit.
Don't forget to try out the fish and chippy, that visits on Tuesday and Saturday evening they are great.

Visited at a wet period, the ground was sodden, as we are finding normal now on CCC sites, Caravans of all sizes with accompanying 4 wheel drives are situated on the hardstandings, motorhomes go on grass with the usual problems with front wheel drive, inspirational!
Staff friendly enough but seemed to be geared to the long stay/seasonal campers rather than the overnight. Few nights stay.
Comprehensive list of local shops and pubs supplied which we did not sample, only staying 2 nights. I suspect that commission is at the forefront of some of the recommendations as the need to identify oneself as a camper. Large site, small children's play area, dog walk via bridleway very muddy, MH drop point on exit is a joke as well as being on the wrong side, as are the pathways around the site, somewhat potholed and gravelled not hard tarmac.
Would I stop again, only if pushed and modernised facilities provided, everything is tired and in need of an update.

We arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. Were shown to our pitch, which had plenty of room, and shown the toilet/shower block etc. Also handed an information sheet for the site and local area which also gives information on local discounts (pub and butchers shop)
The toilet and shower block is a little bit old BUT is very clean and the water is piping hot and we never had to queue.
The site shop is small but they have the basics and if you need anything else there is a Morrisons and a small Tesco`s in Verwood.
A Fish and Chip van visits on Sat and Tues and is excellent and good value for money.
The site is quiet and peaceful( we were there over August Bank holiday) despite it being pretty full. It`s ideal for exploring the New Forest or just for sitting by your tent etc and enjoying the peace.
The Dorset Heavy Horse centre is well worth a visit and is great children.
Little children's play area which was well uesd but not noisy. At night the site was very peaceful and the starlight was truly amazing (no ambient light).
We had a very pleasant stay and will go back for a week next time.
