A really lovely site, we stayed here twice with a trip to Isle of Wight in between. Clean toilets but rather old in adjoining blocks, plenty of space for children. Site is on a hill side so on some pitches need a lot of blocks. Site gets busy at weekends.
A very busy and fast road can make entering and leaving the site difficult at times, also pitches near road can be noisy.
Buses from Verwood to Poole Salisbury and Bournemouth, great if you have a bus pass, free car park in Verwood near bus stops.

I liked this site. I decided to stay here as an alternative to the Forest Holidays sites in the New Forest as I find they get very crowded at week-ends.
This was a little further out for the Forest but is situated in a convenient position for both the New Forest and Bournemouth/Poole.
The road runs along the side of the site but it is only really noticeable during the morning and evening commuter runs.
I prefer sites where the tents and caravans are in separate areas and there is a form of this here. It is in a nice rural location with woods and fields all around. During my stay I had the pleasure of hearing a cuckoo at close quarters which was a real and unexpected pleasure.
The facilities were up to the normal C&CC standards and I really enjoyed my stay and will return if visiting the area again.

We are a family of 4, and stayed at Verwood for one night (a Saturday) as we were attending a wedding nearby. It was a very pretty, well-kept site. The grass was in immaculate condition, and the facilities were great. The on-site shop sold all the essentials. We did not need to try the washing-up facilities as we did not actually eat on site! It was a very pleasant campsite, but much posher than we would usually go to.
Whilst it was fairly child friendly, most people there seemed to be peacefully sitting out reading the newspaper, and we found ourselves constantly trying to keep the kids quiet so as not to disturb people. Other sites we have been to, the kids are generally being noisy and having fun, which is much more our kind of place! The site location was very convenient as we were able to walk to the wedding, but we probably wouldn't stay there again. Nothing wrong with the site, but we just prefer sites where you can have camp fires, and the kids can run free and be noisy!

We have just returned from a smashing week at Verwood - a lovely mix of forest and beach which was ideal for us, the kids and the dog.
The site is split into 2 fields, we were on hardstanding in the bottom field near the caravan storage compound - some comings and goings but not overly intrusive. There was a good mix of caravans and tents (more tents than vans, I think).
The toilet block was scrupulously clean but very dated - time the C&CC spent some money on it, I reckon. The play ground was OK but the kids spent their time in the forest nearby making dens. The site had a lovely friendly atmosphere and the staff were very helpful.
Verwood itself is Bungalow City for the affluent retired. The shops are OK, there is a Tesco Express and a Morrisons, but I wouldn't fancy walking there or to the local pub either as the road is very busy and there is no footway in parts.
Verwood Surgery was absolutely fantastic in fitting in my poorly daughter and looked after us wonderfully. There are dog friendly beaches at Sandbanks and at Durley Chine. We'd definitely go back.

We spent 4 days at this camp site, and I must commend the staff as they are very friendly
And keep the site maintained to a high standard
All the amenities are kept very clean
It was a pleasure to camp there, if you have dogs
It has lovely walks at the back of the site
Which go for miles, although when we was there it was a quiet time of the year, it would not stop me returning again in the high season

We arrived in torrential rain but the helpful wardens braved the wet and directed us to our pitch. We were on a hardstanding near to the caravan storage compound which wasn't great as people seemed to be fetching their caravans all the time. As mentioned previously, the toilets and showers were very dated but as clean as they could be given their age (need a revamp). The sparse play area was a great disappointment to our 5 year old.
I don't feel that this site would be very good for anyone who doesn't want to use their car; local shops are a good few miles away but there is a good choice when you get there - Tesco Express and Morrisons are a short drive. The Pizza Takeaway in Verwood is very good and you can get good kebabs in Ringwood (we don't do much coooking on holiday!)
Be really careful going through Verwood centre and when driving around the surrounding area as there are loads of speed cameras.
The Moors Country Park is well worth a visit and is a cheap day out if you take your own food and drink. There is a great adventure playground, pitch and putt and miniature railway as well as being nice for walking and cycling. We find it quite hard to find something to suit all of our 3 boys (twins aged 13 and a 5 year old) but this place did just that. There is also 'Go Ape!' in the grounds but it is very expensive (save your Tesco Clubcard vouchers).
There is a great garden centre (John Brown's?) at Three Legged Cross, a few miles away, which has a decent camping accessories shop, aquatics centre (as good as some aquariums we've paid to visit) and is good for a cheap, wet afternoon visit.
The surrounding Dorset area is really lovely but Verwood is just that little bit out of the way if you want to go to the beach quite a lot. Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch etc are all lovely and Sandbanks is a must, even if it's just to look at the millionaire's houses with envy!
All in all, we found our stay ok but we wouldn't rush back to Verwood. We will definitely go back to Dorset but will find somewhere nearer the coast.

This was our first ever caravanning holiday so we were unsure of what to expect. We visited Verwood for the first week of our holiday.
On arrival at the site the staff were very friendly and helpful and found us a pitch that we could see the play area from so our three kids could go and play and assisted us onto the pitch. The play area is some swings and a slide/climbing frame which the kids loved and would have spent all week happily playing there. The toilets were always clean and maybe some were a bit old fashioned but not unpleasant. The on site shop was ok but there was a tesco express and a morrisons just down the road anyway. We enjoyed the forest walk from the site but also enjoyed walking round the site on an evening as it had a nice friendly atmosphere.
We visited stonehenge which was amazing, Salisbury which was an interesting city, and also the Reptile and Raptor centre nearby which the kids really enjoyed. Other than that we stayed on site and relaxed knowing the kids were safely playing.
You could hear the road from our pitch but it was not intrusive. There was a great mixture of caravans, tents, motorhomes, and camper vans whilst we were there and on several occasions we witnessed the staff helping people put tents up and offer help and advice to people.
We had a great time at Verwood and would love to visit again.

After reading the previous review I was a little concerned since I had already booked the site. Toilet facilities were excellent. There were 2 additional female showers on the outside of the block which could be better advertised to let people know inside the toilets that there are other showers available. There were lots of tents pitched in a field away from the road where we were with lovely views across the valley. No problem with traffic noise. Having lots of caravans meant the toilets were not as busy in August if the site was full of tents which suited us. Had a great 4 night stay in the New Forest. Would recommend the Beulieu Motor Museum - a great day out for all ages of the family and very good value compared with horse riding and Go Ape. The Albion served great food and excellent puddings.

I have to disagree with some of the negative comments on here about this site. We stayed here for a weekend, in our friends awning.
The campsite is very tidy and clean and despite the fact that the toilets are old they are amongst the cleanest that I have ever come across. With mops and cloths at every shower and sink. We never had to wait to use the showers and the water was always hot.
The campsite has a very friendly feel and the wardens were always present, the wardens were directing people to pitches which were all well spaced.
I would say that the campsite was full on the weekend that we stayed and probably had an equal number of tents and caravans.
There is a small shop which we didn't use but seemed to have all the essentials if you forgot anything.
A nice campsite, which we would go back to.

This isn't, in my opinion, really a campsite at all. It is a caravan park that tolerates a tent or two around the perimeter based next to a very busy road.
The reception and the facilities are housed in a very unattractive concrete block that reminded me of a 1970's secondary modern science block. It housed two sets of lavatories, one very shabby but functionable and the other oddly twee but functionable again. The ladies were in the same block but for obvious reasons I did not venture in !
There was a games room which housed a couple of pool tables, £1 a game, and a dartboard, take your own arrows as they have none to lend, however if you wish to buy some they were for sale, and a video game or two from the last century. Also it is worth noting that the shop does not stock papers, nor open until 9am, so either a car ride into the housing estate that is Verwood or risk life and limb on the race track that is the road is needed if you want milk on your cornflakes or if you like to read the news.
This is another problem with the site, for me anyway. They are so used to punters having a caravan with a fridge and getting their news from the television that they no longer cater for 'campers' The site was quiet, even on a Bank Holiday Saturday night, despite being 70% full, because every unit had the telly on.
There is a dog walk towards the back of the site and two swings and a slide in the middle of the second field, the first field being by the toilets was jam packed with caravans and Shoguns, us tenters obviously need more exercise. There is a small wood where the kids can climb trees but other than that this was a very dull and uninteresting site, as I said at the start, a caravan park (indeed there was a large field full of parked up caravans) which tolerates but is not really for tents. No recycling facilities and not suitable for anybody who hoped to escape from the car for a while.
