I booked this site for a week, expecting a quiet week near the New Forest. The New Forest is lovely (although the site is not in it), but the site terribly disappointing, in fact one of the worst Camping and Caravanning sites I have ever been on. It is unattractive, a lot of sloping pitches, the only toilet block opened for women stank of drains and is very dated, cracked sinks etc. However none of that was a major problem.

The site is situated directly by a B road, which on the map looks small and innocuous. Oh, how wrong we were! The noise from the road was unbelievable, traffic racing by constantly in the day, and even by night. The site is divided into two fields, the top one, which seemed to be mainly caravans, would be shielded from some of the noise. However, the lower field opened directly onto the road, so all the traffic could be clearly seen and heard.

You could not possibly walk or bike into Verwoon along this road, it simply would not be safe. I would not recommend this site to tenters, unless they would like to spend their holiday by the M25, or they are hard of hearing. We only stayed for 3 days, despite having paid for 7 - so we obviously lost our money.

Another camper, complaining about the noise, told me she had heard the site was closing. Excellent I say, that is all it is fit for. Not up to the usual very high standards of CCC sites. Having said all that, excellent and friendly staff.

Just spent a week on the site.

The staff are brilliant, wish all site staff where like them.

The shower blocks are dated but very clean and lets face it ,you are only going to wash, so that's all that matters is how clean they are.

The play area is limited but most people used the site, we found, as a base only and where out all day visiting the many attractions in the area.

Go Ape is a must brilliant day out.

Recommend this site and will be go back next year to do all the things we missed this time round.

Actually, just visited friends who were camping here, but stayed long enough to have a really good look round and would certainly put it on my list of places I'd like to visit for longer.

A Camping and Caravanning Club site, it was beautiful. On a sloping site in places, there were pitches which were flatter and generally it would be possible to pitch 'head up' and be happy. The woodland walk is superb for dogs as well as people and we enjoyed a stroll along that before going home.

The toilet block we visited was very clean and well looked after. I felt the green tongue and groove doors suited the site really well, even if they did look a bit old-fashioned. The water seemed fine as far as temperature was concerned and there was soap.

I intended to take some photos as that's something I find very useful when I'm looking for sites, however I didn't have time on this occasion. It's something I wish the Camping and Caravanning Club website had - one photo of the entrance area to a campsite doesn't tell me very much about what it's going to be like. It's fair to say, also, that when you're travelling several hundred miles to camp, which we are, you're going to want to see what the site might be like before you pitch up - and at busy times, possibly can't get pitched on an alternative site where you don't like the first one!

I certainly will want to go back to Verwood.

We have just spent a week at Verwood and found it to be up to the usual high C&CC standards. It is situated just on the outside of the New Forest in a rural area but very easy to locate, even the sat nav got it right! The staff were very friendly, down to earth and incredibly helpful.

The site itself is pretty quiet, apart from the road which we soon got used to, it wasn't really a bother to us. The pitches are incredibly spacious and the staff do their best to accommodate even tents wider than their 5M width rule, we saw several of the larger dome styles.

There are two toilet blocks which were both open at all times, plus two separate shower rooms. One toilet block was indeed rather outdated but the second was very nice and modern. All facilities were spotlessly clean at all times and I was happy to use either. The play area was small but served our children well, they certainly had no complaints. T

he staff came around at ten pm and sent the kids back to their units so late night noise wasn't a problem. My only gripe (and one the staff seemed well aware of and agreed with) was the fact there was only one washing machine and dryer to serve the whole site. This was way too inadequate and at one point I had to actually take my book and sit in the laundry room to grab the machine when it became available - not funny when you've got three kids and it's raining!

There is SO MUCH to do in the local area you're spoilt for choice. The Heavy Horse Centre is only down the road and well worth a visit, don't forget to buy your pony nuts at the entrance though, the horses won't be too forgiving if you do!

The New Forest is minutes drive away, we spent a day touring, taking in Burley, Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst en route, Bournemouth is also near and not to be missed. There is an excellent fish and chip shop in the village, 5 mins drive and right opposite Morrisons but I don't recommend the Indian restaurant, way too over priced. The Albion Inn is a beautiful little pub that used to be a railway station, it has a lovely garden and play area for the kids.

Yet another wet bank holiday weekend, but the tent held up well. Verwood is situated just on the edge of the New Forest, with a supermarket near by, various other shops and plenty of walking and childrens activities like farms, heavy horse centre and an adventure park near by.

The site itself seems to comprise of two main areas, the top one where the entrance is, a small shop and reception, a games room and the shower and toilet block. The lower field had the football pitch and the childrens play area as well as the entrance to the 'dog walk' - though do not send your children to walk the dog alone as this opens out into a huge wooded area with lakes and it is easy to get lost!

Most of the pitches were level, ours was on a very gently slope, it was fine even on ground mats as long as you pitch head up.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, 5 stars there, and the toilets and showers are clean and pleasant - the showers were hot and powerful.

Downsides could be a potentially long trek to the loos, the sound of the road if you are not used to sleeping through the noise of traffic, and the ground did get quite waterlogged, but we had very heavy rain.

Great fish and chip shop and chinese take away near by, we did not try the pubs, but there are several.

Lovely quiet and clean site. We had plenty of snow whilst we were there. A 5 min drive to the shops or a 15 min walk. There is a games room, but nothing was switched on for the four days we were there. We had a hard standing, but the manager told us that even cars had been getting stuck on the grass. A very relaxing site, for those who want to be quiet and maybe read or sleep.

I'm sorry but although I like the site my wife and I think the toilet's are archaic reminding of my early tenting days with toilet built like cattle stalls.

The toilets of which there are 4, only ever 2 open no matter how crowded, they appear to be unheated, painted rough brick walls with no floating sub-ceiling (so they will alway not look their best).

A pity from the outside they look quite modern, But its always clean (a true C&CC trait), the residual water on the floor is slop from the raised shower floor.

Because of the above it one of the few sites were we shower in our van (too cold in Winter).

That being said the walks are good and a good fishing area.

We have just come back from spending four nights at Verwood and what a fantastic experience it has been.

This was our first proper camp (our previous experience of camping was in the back garden). The staff were so friendly and helpful, and any questions we had they were pleased to answer. Whilst we were there the site was quiet. The toilets and showers were clean and tidy as was the whole site.

We were pitched close to the road which we found to be quiet at night but the traffic started again around 7ish in the morning.

Looking forward to returning next year.

This site was very quiet and almost empty, the pitches were ample in size and almost all were level. The showers and toilets were spotless. And we had glorious sunshine! Will probably use this site again next year. All the staff we met were friendly and we were allowed to choose our own pitch. There are local shops including LIDL and Sainsburys within walking distance of the site. I think electric hook up was available on most pitches. There are no swimming pools or bars/restaraunts on this site just peace and quiet~lovely.

We turned up late Friday afternoon at this campsite, (having been to a Certificated Site in the area to be told the pitch we had booked and paid for in May was no longer available).  Even though they were rather full and busy, they couldn't have been more helpful.  After a ten minute wait they showed us to a lovely pitch, saving us a desperate drive round the countryside with our tired children after a five and a half hour journey due to the M25 being closed!  We had come along for the Ellingham Show which was cancelled due to foot and mouth - we felt like driving back home (but the M25 was still closed!)

We stayed there for eight nights and even though the weather was pretty wet to say the least, we stayed dry in our tent. The facilities were always spotless and you never had to queue for loos or showers even though the site was full.  The washing up facilities were outdoors but undercover and were a sociable place to be! The pitches were spacious, the staff always jolly and helpful.  Shop was well stocked.

We always return to this area of the New Forest as it is conveniently placed for visiting the forest or the coast.  There is a Morrison's supermarket nearby and a useful camping supplies store situated at a garden centre at Three Legged Cross.

We will definitely be back!
