Beautiful site heaven for small kids, two fields for tents and tourers, toilets are regularly cleaned if the gents shower cubicles are a bit small to shower in with your kids. We stayed on pitch 9 with no EHU and had what has to be the best view on the site if we had a long walk to the facilities.
The owners are welcoming and as helpful as could be wished for.
Our daughter was overjoyed with the tallyn railway running by and the site pretty much having its own station.
We had a great stay even if the weather wasn't amazing

Just returned from a lovely week at Tynllyn. I was so looking forward to coming here as used to visit as a little girl when it was only a basic campsite. I remembered the little train that ran past the site so was pleased that although the site has changed a lot, it has been upgraded for the better and now has static caravans and a large field for tourers.
We were very lucky with the weather although a few very windy nights which meant we didn't get much sleep! The site was very quiet, facilities very good. Washing up facilities - very good bathrooms, toilets and showers. Plenty of hot water - kept very clean, as was the site in general and very well maintained with some lovely plants and flowers. Can imagine in peak season this site gets very busy as it is so lovely.
Some lovely walks from the site - amazing views, and with the Talyllyn train steaming backwards and forwards every now and then it was perfect!

An excellent campsite in a great location for coast, mountains and local town. We visited Barmouth, Aberdovey, Dolgellau and walked up Cadair Idris (one of the best walks we have ever done!) Tywyn is 10 minutes drive away and has cashpoints, lots of shops, a great fish and chip shop and fantastic sunsets from the long beach front. We cannot really fault this site.
The pitches were huge - about one and a half times the size of what we normally see, all on the level, the showers etc were very good (and no 20p required!).
The play area and games room meant that all the kids were entertained away from our tent (so nice and quiet!) There were great views in every direction and the steam train going past the site was a bonus. We knew about the badger so didn't leave food outside or tent unzipped but some people didn't take these precautions and had a midnight visitor.
Would highly recommend this site and will definitely revisit if returning to this area.

We love this campsite and we've just returned from our 2nd holiday there we stayed for 2 weeks this time. Very family friendly, great sized pitches, friendly staff. Brilliant location near to Tywyn and wonderful scenery. Would recommend pitching near the field for kids to play on.
Whilst dogs are allowed on a lead which is fine some dog owners didn't follow this site rule and allowed their dogs to run around the field near children which made me quite nervous at times. The site owners take this seriously but cannot keep track of this 24/7. Dog owners should be more considerate.
A wonderful holiday had by all, we miss the hoot of the trains

We have just returned from a couple of nights stay at Tynllwyn. The site is ideally situated for getting out and about. The lane into the site is narrow and care must be taken. It is also a wonderful site to just sit and admire the stunning scenery. Watching the trains come in to the nearby station is a delight.
The facilities at the site were very clean and because we were there mid-week there was certainly no waiting. Plenty of hot water. Laundry facilities were available but we did not need them on such short stay. We did use the free ice block freezing though as the weather was fantastic. The field was clean and we had plenty of space. Dogs are allowed, they must be kept on a lead. Every one kept the place clean as there was never any evidence of dogs having visited.
We did not have children with us but the play area and the 'shed' with table tennis and TV were available and looked well kept.
Only a short drive into Towyn, from where, we walked along the coastal path towards Aberdyfi during the day and in the other direction one evening - watching out for the resident porpoises(lucky enough to spot some) and dolphins.
We walked up the falls at Dolgoch which was wonderful.
Wish we'd been able to stay longer

Just returned from another wonderful Easter break at this brilliant site. We have been visiting here for 5 years and keep meeting the same lovely people each time, which speaks volumes for how popular it is.
The play area and games room keep the kids occupied for hours. The small on site shop provides the basics but tywyn is only 5 minutes away by car.
The site has a real family run friendly feel about it and even the passing train gives everyone a toot.
There are many beautiful, picturesque walks in the surrounding area.
The showers etc are perfectly adequate and in 5 years I have only ever waited once for a shower.
Would I recommend this site? Without doubt!
One of our favourites and we will continue to visit year after year!

Visited this lovely campsite with family in other tents across the site. Lovely welcome, nice, clean facilities with hot water. Good play area and games room for kids and the local pub was only a short walk away either along river and across field or around the road. Food was good too. Trip on train to waterfalls was great with very friendly train folk. Tywyn had free parking and a good co op. Llandovey not far with lovely beach.
Camp area was seen to every day by owners and got all kids evolved which was wonderful.
Will be visiting again, but what campers should be told about is the resident badger! Whereas there are supposedly signs around the reception and pot washing area about a badger I did not see these. Campers need to be told there is a badger who visits by night and will get into tents where there is food and will do what he an to get to it, All campers need to do is ensure no food in tent or bin bags. Sit out late evening with a torch and capture a sight of the badger, nick named smudger.

Will definitely use this site again! What a great site, surrounded by gorgeous scenery, and little Talyllyn railway runs alongside the site - great to see little steam train chugging past every now and again (kids LOVED it!). Site is relatively quiet, big pitches, very clean toilet/shower facilities, lots hot water (like the music that's constantly on too!). Pot-wash area, launderette, shop, playpark for younger children and TV. Games room all very good too. They have freezer in laundry room for ice packs. ALso have a book-swap in an old red phone box! Family who run site are really lovely, friendly, helpful.
Site is 2 miles from town - good Cop-Op supermarket, great beach/surfing goods shop, Kangaroo Chippy on main road is really really good. There is swimming pool for bad weather. Parking at beach is free at Tywyn (1 mins drive from town) with playpark, toilets and cafe behind car park. Beach very clean (mixture sand and pebbles) and good safe water for children (mine body-board for hobby, and this is best beach for this). Aberdovey 5 miles south has lovely, soft sandy beach (great for shells) - wonderful homemade icecream shops, crab fishing off jetty is very popular, and great for entertaining kids. Large pay&display car park here, but cheap enough for day on the beach.

What a fantastic site - chose it having read previous reviews and we were not disappointed. Beautifully kept facilities with very friendly and helpful owners.
We opted for hook up and the pitches are generous in size and we could choose our own pitch too which is always a bonus.
The area is perfect for walking and if like us you have 4 legged friends there are lots of walks suitable for all ages and fitness levels( this means the dogs as well as us!)Honeysuckle and wild flowers as you walk along quiet lanes and beautiful views including the coast when you're up in the hills.
Small shop in Bryncrug but we mainly used the Co-op in Tywyn which is a half hour walk or 5 minutes in the car. The walk is down a fairly busy main road but for some of the way the path is screened by hedges from the road so isn't too bad. Don't forget to stop at the icecream factory outlet on the way - delicious!
Tywyn is a typical little seaside town with takeaways aplenty including Chinese Indian and traditional fish and chips. Couple of pubs but didn't use them so can't comment.
We were lucky enough to have picked the first two weeks of July and the weather was wonderful. Great to have the free facility for our iceblocks in the laundry/information room especially when a lot of sites charge for this it was really appreciated.
We would highly recommend this site and are looking forward to returning with friends and family.

Stayed here for one night back in 2013 at beginning of cycle trip across the country. Really friendly welcome and good facilities, nice hot showers and hair dryer. Beautiful spot, very quiet when we were there. Very handy for Talyllyn Railway. Beautiful valley for cycling - lots of birds. Would visit again.
