Unexpected visit as was booked in another campsite but due to unknown event we had to leave & TIC recommended here and very glad they did. We won't stay anywhere else now!
Located in Bryncrug approx. 2 miles from Tywyn with it's chippy, takeaways, pubs, restaurants, petrol station, Spar x 2 (the better one closes at 4pm on Sundays) and a few miles away from Aberdovey (Aberdyfi) which is great for boutiques, ice cream, pubs restaurants (must try Penhelig Hotel for lunch 12-2pm or dinner & dog friendly). Aberdovey has a fab beach and dogs are allowed from dunes back towards Twywn, just not directly in front of car park - good few miles walk just watch out for jelly fish if with pooches when tide out!
Back to the campsite - The location is stunning, the surrounding hills are beautiful and the Talyllyn Railway passes right by, close enough for the passengers and you to exchange a wave! The site is fabulous for tents, tourers and the static area very well maintained. Lovely stream running through the site with picnic table to enjoy it. There are other picnic tables dotted around campsite which is very nice addition.
The showers were clean, free with plenty of hot water & a big area to dry off/dress etc. With plenty of hooks to hang things. The toilets again clean, plenty of them, never a shortage of loo roll and the radio is always on to sing along to!
There is a great kids playground just outside - we didn't even have kids but looked great fun. Looked like good indoor room too with big TV, table tennis etc. There are excellent laundry facilities & shop in the reception and a fab old red telephone box which is the library. Plenty of signage to let you know where things are like, dishwashing area, Elsan, Watch out for Badgers!
Very dog friendly and the actual campsite has a great hedge and 'chicken wire' underneath so your pooch can't escape and play with the cows! Hugo the resident Beagle is adorable if you get chance to meet him, especially when he's asking for his dinner!
It's a fabulous campsite that we will happily return to again & again, yet at the same time we don't want to tell everyone about it and keep it for ourlseves, but on the other hand everyone should experience here and then compare other campsites to it, you won't find better.
A huge thankyou to the owners for accommodating us at such short notice and being ever so helpful with a 'nothing is too much trouble attitude'. Look forward to many more holidays with you in the future.

Came across this site by accident and so glad we did.
The site was beautifully kept and the owners were extremely friendly, didn't bother you but was there if needed.
Showers were always hot and the toilets were clean with music piped in.
The walks around the lanes were nice with not much traffic.
Only a short distance from Tywyn and the beach was nice and quiet when we visited.
Upon leaving the site we enquired about the static caravans on the site and the cost of hiring them, we were given a key to a vacant one and allowed to go and have a look around which we thought was very trusting of the owners.
We will be going back later in the year as the 3 days we were there we had a good relaxing time.

Have stayed here several times before, most recently in June 2011. This has to be our favourite family campsite of all time!
The owners are friendly & helpful, the site is clean & tidy, the washing / shower / toilet facilities are very good, it is extremely safe & child friendly and the Talyllyn Railway runs alongside. There are also laundry facilities which can be useful.
The best thing about this site though, is the loaction, absolutely beautiful! Even when it's raining the scenery is still stunning!
A little in-land is Cadair Idris, a wonderful place that as long as you are reasonably fit, is well worth the hike to the summit, probably a bit too much for Children under 9 or 10 to attempt & some of the routes up are more difficult than others.
The Talyllyn Railway is a great day out with several stops that are well worth getting out & exploring a bit, especially if you enjoy walking & breathtaking scenery.
The main line coastal railway is nearby, with stations at Tywyn & Aberdyfi. From here you can travel up the coast to the likes of Porthmadog & Portmeirion. From Porthmadog it is also worth a taking a trip on the Ffestiniog Railway upto Blaenau Ffestiniog & back, but this can be very busy at peak times.
Also nearby is Barmouth, a lovely little seaside town that is pleasantly unspoilt. This is easily reached by either car or main line train.
There is a Co-Op supermarket in nearby Tywyn & enough other shops for all your basic needs, oh, and there is also the Halo Foods Honey Ice Cream Shop between Tywyn & the camp site, very nice!

We returned to this campsite with 3 other families for the Royal Wedding B/H weekend. The site laid on a huge TV, a BBQ, and then fireworks.
We had a great couple of days but the high winds sadly cut our trip short (The wind destroyed / damaged many tents).
One of our group had not paid for their pitch, so went to settle up. They were delighted when the owners didn't charge them for the whole weekend, and they gave us all our money back for the night that we missed by going home early.
The site owners really are good people, I never expected to be refunded as it was my choice to leave.
We all enjoyed the time we spent there, and will be going back again.(sadly they are booked up for Whit week).

Booked for 4 nights over the Bank Holiday weekend, with another family. 8 kids between us and 3 adults. Whilst that sounds like a recipe for disaster, it was great! Lovely flat pitches, helpful site owners, sorted a minor problem straight away. The play area is fab and all of the kids loved the big swing.
Very reasonably priced
Clean showers and toilets with LOTS of hot water.
We used the on site picnic tables(joined 2 together) when we had visitors, and cooked for 17 people.
Very family orientated.
A total of 4 families joined us while we were there, and all commented on how lovely the place was.
Without question, we will return.
We met Billy Badger too, and he likes fruit and is quite brave.
2 mins from Tywyn, and only 5 mins to Aberdovey beach, which is a proper sandy beach with dunes, and dogs are allowed.

Well what an excellent campsite! Not only were the pitches flat, picnic tables available, and the washrooms really clean (and not overcrowded - even thought it was school holidays) we also got an encounter with the badger! (And not because we couldn't find the bins - they are by the toilet block)
Our children (13,10 and 7) all played in the play area, and the youngest practised his cycling skills around the site.
The train running along the side of the site is a lovely thing to view, and the request stop station is a 30 second walk away from the top end of the site.
Tywyn itself is a lovely little town, with a very well stocked Co-op, an amazing butchers with home-made sausages and an old fashioned sweetshop to which we made repeated visits. The beach is beautiful, long and clean with easy parking, and the new coastal defences are nearly finished, at which point it will be excellent.
There is a laundry on site, which did us proud, drying a weeks worth of clothes, and the little shop provides the basics, with daily milk and papers and a cooler-pack freezing service. The service of the owners was made apparent when I developed appendicitis on our last evening there, and having negotiated NHS direct had to go to hospital. They were very helpful that night, and the next morning when my husband had to pack all our camping stuff and three children away.
All in all an excellent site which I would be happy to return to and would highly recommend.

Stayed on site for a long weekend, the only thing wrong was the weather, but that's not controllable.
Super site, clean well maintained, cant find any faults.
Toilets & showers cleaned to a very high standard.
Easy disposal of rubbish into large bin.
Superb surroundings, Tywyn has shops for all your needs just down the road.
Easy access by road to other local towns.
Fully recommend stopping here.

Stayed at this site for just one night as a stopover on way South. Nice site, good sized camping field with wonderful views and sunset. On arrival we were given just a photocopied sheet of paper showing pitches that were available.
Loos were reasonable, piped music, although I could imagine queues in the school holidays as only a couple of showers in the ladies. We arrived early evening and later on couldn't find anywhere to put our rubbish - had a good look around but without success. However, not being able to dispose of our rubbish overnight led to my first encounter with a badger - who was so bold and determined to find something to eat. Woke me during the night ripping the rubbish bag apart, but the clean up was worth it.

A beautiful level field with clearly defined pitches, some with EHU and some without. Basic but clean toilets and showers. We were there at a quiet time but if it was busy I think there could be a shortage of cubicles. Amazing views of the Welsh hills and a very peaceful location.
The on site shop is open twice a day for short periods and sells only essentials. We spent a week here and really loved this site. The icing on the cake was the miniature gauge railway running right past the site.

Our final holiday away in our VW Motorhome couldn't have been to a better place - Tynllwyn is a super site - not massive, not fussy, good staff, great little shop and a nice place.
Spotlessly clean, litter free, well mowed and flat site - ideal I guess?
Layout of the site is mainly in one large long field with pitches around the edge and centre. Washup, showers, loos, etc are at one end next to the play park for the kids.
There is also a laundry room, games barn, telly and even a games console for the kids!
Bryncrug doesn't offer a lot - there is the bus stop into Tywyn and a shop ran by one of the oldest shopkeepers I've ever met in my life. She didn't hear most of the things I asked her but was sharp enough when it came to paying!
Tywyn is a good town to visit - parking is free, handful of shops including a Mr Simms for your sweeties and even a cinema.
You're close enough to drive to Machllynth and the CAT centre and Barmouth is just around the coast - we recommend driving to Fairbourne and catching the train and ferryboat across the bay to make the day complete.
Oh - if you're also train mad, Bryncrug is also a halt on the Tallylyn Railway and the track is at the far end of the site - so you get the added bonus of a steam train or two every hour, tooting and rattling along.
I can't fault this site - its one to go back to!
