If you are into bars, clubs, entertainment etc. then you had best give this lovely site a miss, however if you enjoy stunning scenery, clean air, and peace and quiet then you will love it as we did. We have just returned (reluctantly!) home after spending a week here and although it is a 5 hour drive for us we would love to return sometime.
The site is about 2 miles from Tywyn. The tent/van field is very level and the grass is short and thick, a horseshoe shape hardcore drive leads into the field so access is easy
No part of the site is too far from the shower / loo block and there are ample water points and nice subtle solar lights at night as well as about 6 picnic benches.
The service block is big enough for the site and was kept nice and clean, showers were nice and hot (possibly a bit hot for kids so take care). Although the cubicles are quite small, there was always plenty of hot water for the washing up sinks which are covered but not indoors and a laundry room is available (coin operated) with some books and leaflets.
We had an EHU pitch and there is a central plug point serving 4 pitches, so you may want to check with the staff as to length of cable required for your pitch. The owners were very friendly and helpful and reception doubles as a shop with basics and you can order papers if you like.
One (probably) unique point about this site is that it has a stop for a preserved steam railway (called Talylyn) , a short walk up the lane you can see the train puffing past the campsite. We spent a very enjoyable day catching the first train from Tywyn wharf (which has a excellent little museum and cafe) and getting off / re-alighting at Dolgath falls for a pleasant walk.
We had a very nice lunch at the railway inn at nearby Abergnolwyn and driving through the surrounding scenery is a tonic in itself.

We have just returned from a lovely weekend at this campsite. It was very quiet (apart from the sheep in surrounding fields, but I guess you have to expect this in lambing season!)
The toilets/facilities were clean and well kept & showers fine & free! The tent pitches with EHU were level and there was space for the kids to play / kick a ball around, especially as the site was so quiet, due to time of year I suppose.
The owners were very helpful with regards to the local area. It is in a great location for seeing this part of Wales. The beach at Aberdovey is lovely ans we also went off to a local cycle route on an old railway line and had a pleasant (tiring!) 12 mile bike ride & took in some lovely views.
We will return to this campsite, and look forward to doing so.

We stayed here in Aug for a long weekend break and I have to say I was really impressed by the site. We have stayed many times near Aberdovey, but never here. The owners were very friendly and accommodating for us as we had 3 family size tents in our party and we all managed to camp together, which from a child safety point of view is a bonus.
The showers and toilets were clean apart from one broken toilet seat in the ladies loo, and for the days we were there was never mended or mentioned that it was being looked at. Music being played in the toilets was great as you got to catch up with the news etc. Even though we went in peak times, the loos/showers were never that busy. Washing up area was well lit and hot water was plentiful. The play area was a huge hit with our boys and being able to ride their bikes around the site was also a huge hit.
The statics were all over the other side of the park and they were all very well kept. The train was a quaint touch passing through the bottom of the campsite, tooting and waving, we always had a competition to see how many waves we could get. The no noise after 10pm was good when you have little ones to put to bed.

This site is awesome. Big shower/toilet block with the radio playing -nice touch. Large outdoor play area with an indoor games room if it rains. Shop on site that sold a good array of items but the local shop was about a 10 min walk from the site. The pitches were nice and flat and of a good size. It was lovely to see the train tooting everyday as it went past and we hardly saw the kids all week, they were too busy making friends and playing. You wouldn't know that there were statics on site as these are on the other side of the site and are enclosed by trees and hedges. They had a no bikes after 9pm and no noise after 10pm which were strictly adhered too and while we were there a group were asked to leave due to their behaviour. We will definitely be returning to this site, no question.

We have just returned from a lovely week at this camp site. The owners are friendly, grass cut short and average size pitches with electric hook up available.
The views of hills around the camp site are fantastic, and the narrow gauge railway is a few minutes walk away where we had a brilliant day at Dolgoch Water Falls and hill side walks. It was lovely watching the train run by the camp site and the passengers waving to us (train stops at approx 6pm so don't worry about being woke up by noise). Aberdovey beach is beautiful, and crab fishing entertains the kids. Nearby Barmouth is worth a visit, nice beach and good shops. Our kids aged 9 and 13 enjoyed ping pong and football matches in the middle of the tent field, and they rode their bikes until 9pm. If you want beautiful countryside and a relaxed campsite this is the one for you. The only negative is a 1st time 50 yr old male snorer next to us woke up all the campsite (never heard anything like it - but hey that's camping I suppose)?
Great campsite will definitely visit again.

Myself and my 2 daughters stayed at this lovely site for 6 nights. The girls loved the play area and the fact that there were so many other kids to knock about with, they also spent loads of time in the play room and playing by the little stream. The site itself is situated in a stunning location, surrounded by mountains on either side. Shower & toilet block was always immaculate. Plenty to do in the area, lovely beach at Aberdovey and Tywyn is ok. Beautiful walks all round this area.
I will definitely return to this site and the only thing that could make it better is the weather being a little kinder, oh and perhaps the camp shop being open slightly longer hours - but that's just me being picky.
Forgot to mention the owners - lovely family, and it was funny to see a bat pottering round on the floor of the shop when we were booking in

Stayed here for a couple of nights - what a lovely site - can't praise it enough. The free toilet block was spotless and although we didn't use it there was a laundry/ironing room plus a small shop selling the bare essentials. The Talyllyn railway stops close to the site which meant a car free day. Caught the train to the top of the line and had lunch in the Community Hall - wonderful - thoroughly recommend this day out.

Lovely site. Recommended to us by friends who have a caravan here, this was our second visit in the tent and we had a lovely time despite the weather.
The family who own the site are friendly & helpful, the site is beautifully kept and most importantly the loos & showers are lovely and clean. There's a lovely park for younger children and a new wooden barn for older kids to meet up and play on a playstation or table tennis.
Most of the week was wet but still we managed to have a good time. The railway that runs along the back of the site is nice, the children loved waving at it and also we went on a ride along it. There are some other traditional visiting places, we had a nice walk up the local falls which were spectacular - very full because of the rain - with a good cream tea in the cafe at the bottom.
This is Wales so be aware that there are not always the facilities you're used to in the local towns at home, there is a large Co-op in Twyn which is open for longer hours and stocks everything you're likely to need, the Spar at the garage is also pretty good.
This site is very popular with families that return annually so book early. If you're after quiet, relaxed, family time this is for you.

I booked this site last minute due to the lovely weather we were experiencing!
This site is lovely and quiet even with a large group of people on a scooter rally! Everywhere was clean, showers were hot and plenty of room in them to hang your clothes, and like a previous reviewer mentions, even music playing! Unfortunately it was the radio and we stayed when Micahel Jackson passed away so got fed up of listening to him! that wasn't the owners fault one bit and I feel that the owners take great pride in their site.
We had a lovely weekend, Aberdyfi only a short drive away was a nice place to visit with a local fishmongers that was great cooked on the barbeque! A half an hour drive over the toll bridge is Barmouth which has a great beach and some good shops and a market on a sunday.
The pitch we had on our visit was with electric and a large pitch with a picnic bench! I would recommend this site to anyone who wants a peaceful weekend away.
We loved it

First time camping here for myself and family, and this site really gave us the camping bug!
Owner was very accommodating when we booked confirming she would reserve two pitches together. On arrival the owner had done as she had promised and we had two large sized pitches together.
The main camping field has several pitches with ehu but majority are without.
Facilities on site, free showers, although rather small cubicles. However, in the ladies there were two slightly larger ones suitable for families.
Hairdryers 20p. Lots of worktop space for your toiletry bag and a nice touch of a radio being played! The toilet block appears to have been a converted farm outbuilding, however has been done in a very tasteful way with all modern facilities.
Small playarea for children, which at times did get rather busy and a little loud, however this did not go on too late. Again, some children playing in the middle of the camping field could get a little rowdy but once the light had gone, all went quiet!
All in all a small site, good location and extremely scenic setting. The Talylln railway even runs at one side of the site, so the train can be seen a couple of times a day, which my children really enjoyed. Plus the surrounding fields contain sheep, which can be heard throughout the day and may give you an early wake up call as they follow the farmer carrying put his daily duties. This being another attraction my children enjoyed!
Just 2 miles to Tywyn which has a co-op store for your groceries and several other shops. A lovely prom and beach. For something a little more upmarket I would recommend a visit to Aberdyfi which will you take you approx 10 min by car.
A good rural location, but with lots of interesting places nearby. Site very well priced.
I would not hesitate to stay at this site again.
