WOW what a Gem of a site.
We came across this site by accident. The other family we were holidaying with found the site as we all were not happy with the initial choice.
The site is really neat and tidy. There was a land rover gathering in Tywyn and they were quite full but was still able to squeeze us in on their emergency pitches which were more that adequate in themselves.
The pitches were flat and the drainage was excellent ( as discovered by one very wet day).
There is a lovely play area for the children and the little shop provides all basic essentials. The laundry room is very useful as well as the freezers for ice blocks ( included in the price).
Toilets and showers were basic but clean and tidy and the staff very helpful and friendly.
The Talyllyn Steam railway runs right past the site with a station stop right at the camp site. It is a great day trip as you can get on and off at various stops. It runs from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol through unspoilt Snowdonia passing the Dolgoch Falls and there are excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol. It is a much for all visitors and plan to make a day of it.
There are a number of beaches, and the seaside town offers all the usual shops that you would expect.
We cannot recommend it highly enough and after only a 2 night stay, upon leaving we booked up for a weeks stay this summer and we cannot wait to return.

We are a family of four, two adults, two kids 8 and 5(one autistic, one just cheeky) and a slightly daft Jack Russell. We have tourer, with a porch awning for weekends.
We have just come back from a weekend at this lovely site. When we arrived we were told how to find our pitch, the ladies apologised as the electricity was off, it was soon back on.
Our pitch was right next to the main thoroughfare to the toilet block, washing up and play area, but the pitch was well marked and there was plenty of space for people to get through the gap without us feeling like we were living on a motorway.
The pitch was quite wet but not sodden and not particularly muddy. The kids disappeared to the playpark, and left us to it - bliss, especially as we were so close.
It was 'race the train' weekend so the normal train timetable was disrupted, but no worries we will be back to enjoy a trip on it. There was a great atmosphere for the runners and they passed very close to the site, the train station is just over the road.
The toilet blocks were great, the facilities were generally brilliant, my older son found the ping pong table very absorbing, my younger son just enjoyed running around with the other kids on site.
The laundry was a blessing as we got absolutely soaked the first evening on a walk along the front in tywyn and we needed to tumble dry our coats (£2. 00 for 40mins - £3. 00 for a wash) free freezer for freezer blocks. Games room with tv and tv games, also with a ping pong table.
The whole site is beautifully looked after with flowers and hanging baskets, lovely wood sculptures. The family is incredibly welcoming and very helpful.
With all the kids and general bustle on the site, we were very pleasantly surprised when everything went quiet at 10. 30.
We had a great day walking on saturday, loads of walks in the area, and the weather was kind, we went up to Coris craft centre later in the afternoon to satisfy my need to by a dragon, a lovely collection of craft shops and also the site of Arthurs labrynth.
Overall a brilliant weekend, though it rained most of it, the site didn't become particularly water logged, we had a day of respite on Saturday, but had to pack up in the rain on the Sunday. Leaving time is 12noon, we were a few mins late (we were hoping for a break in the rain). There seemed to be a few of us with the same idea.
I get the impression that people go there time and time again, and I can completely understand why, we shall be going back there again, and we will recommend this site to friends.

Just returned from a week at this site and it is excellent. The site is very attractive with a stream running through it. The views are stunning and it is an ideal base to explore a beautiful part of the world.
The toilets were always clean with plenty of toilet paper and soap, the showers are free and there was always plenty of hot water, the whole site is well maintained, the family and staff were all very friendly and helpful.
The small shop sells a useful selection of essentials. The laundry room is clean and has a free freezer for ice blocks (no food). The play area is great as is the games room (very handy if you have a wet day). We also liked the selection of humorous signs.
There is a nearby pub but this was unfortunately closed for renovation when were there. Tywyn is just over two miles away and a pleasant enough little town with a good beach and a selection of shops (The Whitehall pub lets dogs into the bar which was handy for us) Tal-y-Llyn lake (very beautiful with another dog friendly pub on the shore) and Cadair Idris (very hard walk but stunningly beautiful) are also nearby. There are many waterfalls around as well. In fact the area is so attractive I could go on for quite a while about all the things to see and do.
This is an ideal family site, very child friendly, and we will definitely be returning.

My family love this site and we've been back several times. It's a fantastic location just next to the Talyllyn railway which runs right past the site.
We often just go up and down the line and get off for walks etc - or the beach/ supermarket at Tywyn - leaving the car on the site. Not bad location for other attractions too such as Ffestiniog railway and Alternative Energy Centre.
The owners are very friendly and helpful and clearly take a pride in maintaining a tidy, organised and attractive site. Clean toilet block with free showers (and Radio 2!).
Useful games room for children - who also watched the Olympics on the screen in there! Onsite shop is useful if you visit at the right time and they'll order papers etc for you - very helpful.
More space than on some sites. A tad on the expensive side but probably worth it as you know you'll have a good time.
First went 20 years ago and been back on and off ever since which speaks for itself.

We stayed at this campsite last week and were blessed with very good weather apart from the last 2 days.
The pitches and the facilities were immaculately presented and maintained.
The site is an ideal base for exploring Cader Idris, the local resorts of Barmouth, Aberdovey and Tywyn. The site is also ideal for walks, a book of local walks is available from the campsite shop which cover the surrounding area and offer various difficulties of walk. If you do not want to take the car to Tywyn, it can be accessed by foot in about half an hour.
The steam trains that run through the site operate regularly and are a great alternative to the car.
The staff on site who we came into contact with were always friendly and helpful. A laundry room is available in which you will find a fridge for ice packs.
The showers were kept clean and the water was always warm. The radio in the toilet block was a novelty at first but is is a welcome addition.
The site did have hook-ups for touring units although we did not use these. Upon check-in, you are provided with a map showing where you can pitch.
The beach in Tywyn is very clean, although not a 'Welsh Blackpool'. It is a quiet resort having petrol stations, local services, 2 super markets and pubs and restaurants. We even managed to spot a dolphin just off the beach. Barmouth is probably more of a seaside resort having more activities aimed at children such as a fairground, donkey rides etc.
The site had all of the facilities we look for. We would definitely stay at this site again - we had a great stay.

We stayed here over Easter. Very nice site with lovely views across the surrounding hills and valleys. Pretty good sized pitches and nice to have the steam trains going past now and again.
Didn't use the shop as it was closed whenever we tried, but the kids used the playground which they enjoyed (although it's mainly aimed at younger kids I'd say) Toilet block was clean and showers were hot, but it could do with some updating and I think it'd struggle to cope if the site was full. The only hand dryer in the mens was out of order the entire time we were there as was one sink in the ladies.
Only other criticisms would be the length of the grass in the touring field, although it had been raining which perhaps prevented mowing. Also despite there being lots of signs up the owners do not seem to enforce the 'dogs on leads' rule and this combined with some inconsiderate campers meant there were a few dogs roaming the site. I don't mind dogs but I do when they try and get in your caravan the minute you open the door!

Just returned from 4 nights over Easter, Very nice site, very friendly owners who cant do enough to help and a great location. Shower rooms clean even if a bit tight to manoeuvre, good washing up facilities!
Only 3 miles form Tywyn and half an hour form Barmouth. The ice cream factory in Tywyn is a must to visit, I'm not really into ice cream but that stuff is absolute heaven.
Kids loved the stream, games room and park. Even a lousy last nights weather did not dampen what was a really nice break. Will be returning later in the year.

As others have said, this is a lovely site with a great backdrop of mountains. Although small, it seems to provide most of the facilities you need. Our kids really enjoyed the playground and the stream, and it's nice to be able to listen to the news and weather when you are cleaning your teeth!
The shop is only open twice a day for a few hours, but there is a big co-op in Tywyn which is open late. I think my only criticism is that if there were a lot of big tents, it might feel a bit crowded (particularly in the EHU pitches) as there isn't a lot of space between pitches. I think if you don't need EHU, the owners would probably spread tents out (we didn't have tents on both sides whilst we were there).
If you walk out the site via the gate near the steam train stop, and follow the road round to the left, there is a lovely walk up behind the campsite which leads on to the hills. Or if you walk past the station and go over the stile, you can walk towards Tywyn. Tywyn has a good selection of shops and free parking at the beach. The swimming pool at the leisure centre is quite good too, with fun float sessions for the kids.

We stayed at this site for our main family holiday last year and we are seriously considering revisiting in 2012 ( a first for us as we don't usually go back to places) as it was so wonderful.
It is a big site in total area but as the statics and most of the tourers are in separate areas from the tents you tend to forget they are there. The camping field is huge and all the pitches are around the edge, leaving the middle for ball games and general fun. It was great to be able to let our 2 small children run around without constantly losing site of them!
The owners are really pleasant and helpful. The weather was very bad the second night we were there and the owner was out helping people secure their tents.
The facilities are clean, tidy and catered fine for the numbers there. There is a laundry and a games room and a small area with play equipment, plus many of the children had most fun playing in the stream by the statics. There is small shop selling basics and plenty of water points. The statics themselves are in a lovely wooded area.
Tywyn is just over a mile away and has all the shops etc you will need including a local butchers. The Talyllyn Steam railway runs right past the site and it is a great day trip as you can get on and off at various stops where there are walks and even a cafe / playground. You are right on the edge of Snowdonia so the hills are stunning and the beaches at Tywyn and Aberdovey are in easy reach.
All in all, a fabulous location and a great site. We can't wait to go back!
