I agree with a previous review, that this site could be the perfect campsite with a little more investment and care.
When we got there at 15;00hrs we had to go to find the owner, the lady was not very welcoming but the man who led us to our pitch was very welcoming.
Situated in a village with a pub and shops in easy walking distance it has it all at hand.
We tried Hanlega's which houses the restaurant. The food is very good and a fair price I had steak twice and it was well cooked & very good the menu is fixed. My wife recommends the lamb.
We used the new toilet block for the time we were there and we never had to wait to use them. If site is full the loo's could be a bite of a wait. As in gents there was only 3.
Behind the old block is the Elsan emptying pit and the grey water drain. Both are very primitive and don't make it easy. The grey water drain into the Elsan pit is too small so when emptying the Wastemaster you have to do it slowly or paddle which is what I did.
If they were to have a games room for the older children and had a little shop this would be perfect site. Would we go again yes we would.

A very nice site in the countryside, a short walk to the pretty village of Sixpenny Handley, which has a well-stocked shop. The site has a very good on site bar and cafe which sells local ciders. We found the owners very friendly and they recommended a very good walk around the local area, which we enjoyed very much. Facilities were adequate and clean. I suppose it would have been better if there were more things to do nearby, but very good for a peaceful break in the countryside.

First impressions; The welcome we received at reception was friendly, helpful and polite. We were walked to our pitch and given a tour of the site and facilities. The charges I thought were very reasonable.
There are four fields of varying sizes for campers and caravans with a couple of fixed mobile homes available for rent near the reception. The pitches are mostly flat with a gentle slope in two fields that didn't cause us any problems. The pitches are a good size although our Outwell Montana with extension was a little too big. At busy times this may be an issue for the larger tents. In the field by reception and the bar there is a children's play area.
We used electric hook up for the first time and had no problems. Neighbouring campers kept tripping theirs but I suspect the kettle they were using was drawing too much power. They borrowed ours with no problem.
The old and new toilet/shower blocks were functional. The water was always hot when I went to use it and the blocks were kept clean. The showers are push button in the new block and the single shower in the old block was manual turn on and off. Both shower facilities lacked curtains to help keep clothes dry and there were no shelves for wash kit bits. There is a thin panel separating the shower from the bench. I thought this area of the campsite could have been worked out a little better but it is a small niggle. For families or single parents with younger children there is a family wet room with the usual toilet, shower and sink. This I thought was a nice touch.
Scattered around the site are a couple of drinking water taps.
I didn't use the bar or food facilities but other reviews can tell you about that. Nice to have on site though and had the weather been poor I am sure it would have been used more.
Out and about; Sixpenny Handley is a picturesque village with a pub (didn't visit), newsagents which is a real Aladin's cave of a place that resembles a Tardis! and Post Office. It is a downward hill of a walk through the village with parts of the road single file for traffic. The church is beautiful and the people we saw very friendly. They even let me view the church organ (I'm a musician). The church bells do ring 24hrs every hour and can be heard from the campsite.
Would I go again? I can't wait for the next opportunity.

This could be the perfect campsite with a little more investment and care.
Situated in a village with a pub and shops in easy walking distance it has it all at hand.
On site there is the 'Shed' now called Hanlega's which houses the restaurant. The food is very good and a fair price but the menu appears fixed. I can recommend the fish, chips & mushy peas as being excellent and the roast belly pork wasn't half bad!
They did hold a wedding reception on the Saturday we were there which produced the evil 'boom, boom, boom' of modern 'music' but it finished about 11.40pm. Thank goodness.
We used the old toilet block for the first few days as nobody advised us there were showers in the toilets in the restaurant.
The old block shower, there is only one in the gents, was thick with gnats as windows were left open all night and by the cobwebs looked like they were never closed.
Behind the old block is the Elsan emptying pit and the grey water drain. Both are very primitive and don't make it easy. The grey water drain into the Elsan pit is too small so when emptying the Wastemaster you have to do it slowly or paddle.
I discovered another grey water drain closer to the few hard standings on our last day!
The new facilities in the restaurant looked excellent and are very spacious. The showers are the push button type which drive us mad but are really sensible. There are no shelves in the shower to park your shampoo and shower gel so they have to stay on the changing bench. There is also no curtains so the changing area gets very wet. A mop and bucket is supplied but no disinfectant is in the bucket!
Having said all that we were really happy staying here and that is all about its position and accessibility to a rich variety of sights and history. It is also the most dog friendly site we have ever visited with fields and walks on site!
One last thing if biting insects bother you like they did my wife stay clear. They are quite ferocious and having lived in Scotland for 15 years with the midges make them pale into insignificance.

We are a child free couple in a small camper van. Our preference is adults only camp sites but we stayed here to walk the very long geocaching trail which passes close by.
The toilets, showers and washing up facilities are very good. It was apparant that no early morning check is performed.
Reception was good and the staff competent. The site is laid out in fields with large hedges between.
The owners seem to separate families from couples. There is a barn converted into a bar and restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the playground.
Beer was supplied from boxes and lager from a barrel. We did not try the food but it looked good and was priced reasonably.
In reception we were horrified to learn that on Saturday night there was a band playing until midnight! Fortunately the band finished well before 11 pm.
We visited during the school holidays and the site was noisy (as expected). We did find though that it had more of a holiday park feel to it than other rural sites. Late night noise was excessive, I woke at 02:30 to hear at least two parties continuing.

Lovely, unspoilt campsite, great for families or couples. We held a large family reunion here for 15 of us over 4 pitches and the owners were very accommodating and helpful.
We were staying for 3 nights and made good use of Hanlegas restaurant as the weather was truly awful with torrential rain all weekend.
Facilities were very good though and very clean with good baby facilities too.
We booked for the Moroccan evening with belly dancers on the Saturday night which was very good with excellent food.
The restaurant did great breakfasts too - their bacon sandwiches were amazing!
The only downside for us was that there was nothing open on Monday morning when the facilities stay closed all day - and with 15 of us there, they lost our custom as we all would have had breakfast if it was open.
The adventure playground appeared to be excellent, not that we got to use it due to the rain! Would stay there again, despite the weather!

What a great site! only stayed for two nights and I don't think it stopped raining.
But the good thing is nobody seemed to get stuck, it must be very well draining.
The toilets and showers were always clean and warm, at first I thought there were only two toilets and one shower and then we found a brand new toilet and shower block in the rear of the shed, they were GREAT!
The shed by the way is the on site restaurant and bar, ate there on Friday night, and had breakfast before we left on Sunday, both very good and excellent value.
Popped into the Roebuck pub in the village all home cooked and again definitely not overpriced. Also butchers looked very good and as for the paper shop, they sell everything, it's like Aladdins cave.
We will be going back.

This site is fabulous. The pitches are spacious and although it was busy at the weekend it wasn't noisy at all.
They have a great little place to eat at the weekends and serve a delicious sunday lunch, they csll it 'The Shed' but it is far from it!
The tv reception is good also DAB radio is available on the site too. It would have been perfect if there was wi-fi available but that's just us.
Plenty of long walks or you can go on a short walk if you don't fancy it. I'd advise you to administer some tick prevention medication prior to walking particularly in the summer months because our dogs picked up loads! Also if you have a spaniel, some of the fields have wheat grass going through them and may get into their ears, like ours did!
We did not get to meet the owners as they were on holiday, but Maureen who was there to meet and greet us was so friendly and absolutely lovely, nothing was too much for her and we enjoyed chatting to her. In fact I think she enjoyed herself there!
We would definitely return and look forward to meeting the owners. Our pitch was great as we do not have children and didn't particularly want to be placed by the play area which seemed to be taken into account when allocated, we appreciate that, thank you.

By the end of March I’d already visited Church Farm three times this year which says it all really. It’s one of those sites where you feel right at home and due to its location you feel part of the village too, it really is right in the centre of the village on the high street.
It is almost completely a grass site, there being only four hard standing, but as it is a chalk area it remains relatively dry, and despite the area being very hilly the site is pretty much flat, certainly no levelling chocks were needed on my pitch. There are EHU points all around the outside of the large field that makes up the site and there are many more pitches in the centre for use in warmer times.
There are two toilet blocks, both near to the entrance, the older one is hardly old at all and would put many campsite toilets to shame, while the block in ‘The Shed’ is new and shiny and a pleasure to use. ‘The Shed’ although actually a converted modern barn is a real added bonus to the site, it does good, if not outstanding food, and sells the locally brewed Sixpenny Handley Beer.
The village has everything you need, a village shop that is full to the brim with practically everything, a fantastic butchers, a hairdressers, cafe and post office and the brilliant brewery that is only open a few hours each day but a must. The only thing that lets the site down is the pub, just simply not a very good pub, but with the ‘Shed’ and brewery you should be able to cope.
With good walks in the area and a regular bus service to Salisbury or Blandford, this site is a little gem and with it being close to home, reasonably priced and open all year I shall no doubt be returning many times.

Had a great stay at Church Farm. Pitches are large and the site is quite open which gives it a very spacious feel.
There are good walks around the lovely countryside direct from the site. The village is pleasant; the butchers was excellent and the local brewery is definitely worth a walk down to sample the ales and buy some carry-out. The Roebuck Inn wasn't a pub I would recommend; The Shed (bar/restaurant) on the campsite was much better. The Shed does not allow dogs in.
The facilities on the campsite were clean and tidy, the only downside was they were a bit of a walk away. Depending on your pitch, you may need a fairly long hook up lead.
All in all, a very good site that I'll return to.
