We stayed here twice this year. In July and August. The weather was amazing in July and we had a great time. Even in August when we had two days of very strong winds we enjoyed ourselves.
In August we went as a group with 3 large Outwell tents. Each pitch was a very generous in size, although we had quite a bit of rain over a couple of days the ground was well drained. There is a good sized field at the top to walk/run dogs.
There are ducks on the large pond that all the children enjoyed and animals just off site. A shop that is well stocked, gift shop and lovely cafe.
The only thing that is a pain is the long walk to the amenities and the amount for the size of the campsite. (Fine through the week when quiet, but queuing for showers on busy weekends) They are at the entrance where all the caravans are! Would be better if the tents where close to them.
I would recommend this site and we will return ourselves.

Lovely friendly site where we could take our 5 dogs there was even a fields where they could have a run about 200m from our tent. The Grandkids had a great time to on the play areas and we also were able to feed the ducks. The toilet block and shower areas were immaculate and the camp shop was good and a nice cafe. An indoor play area for the children and a very secure site so children could not just wander off. Some lovely places to visit and close enough for us to visit family. We had a lovely lunch in Barnard Castle on the Sunday. There are some lovely walks in the area, information leaflets on site but the website also gives you options.

Stayed one night here with my two children, pretty good site.
The weather had threatened to spoil the trip, arrived and put tent up in a hefty downpour, but it cleared and sun was out for bbq time at around 6pm.
The site is very large, lots of space between units, and we chose hookup too. There's a gravel road around the site so you doont need to churn up the grass. One point of note though was that the ground was very hard, and I would advise rock pegs.
The guy met us at the entrance after checking in at reception, showed us the facilities and to our pitch, and explained where the local pub was (which we went to look at, very nice menu, but pricey and not really burger and chips so we didn't eat there). Small shop on site for essentials, and a cafe too.
The toilets are clean and well maintained, showers plentiful and free. There is also a play room for younger kids, an outdoor play area, plenty space for ball games, and a pond too. Lots of ducks on site.
The highlight are the animals in the adjacent fields, pygmy goats, friendly donkeys, llamas ostriches and geese, which the kids enjoyed seeing.
Worth a weekend stay, and will probably return

We have just returned from a 2 night camping holiday. Apart from the rain we had a lovely time. We were greeted by the park warden and what a fab greeting he gave us. He gave us the run down of where everything was, he was very welcoming and made our stay.
Pub half mile down the road, large supermarket 5 miles away and lovely market town of Richmond 9 miles away.
Toilets and showers were clean and tidy, 2 play areas which will be well used when we return with the kids they were looked after and in working order, loads of animals on the site for the kids, lovely shop and cafe on site, everyone really helpful.
Great place thank you xx

Not long back from holiday here and while the campsite is lovely clean I don't think I will be returning
Good points -
Clean
Shop on site
Cafe, small, on site
Play areas, two, on site
Very nice owner/manager lovely man helpful and kind and friendly
Good toilets and shower block, not kept as clean as needed but good general condition
Also good to see one disabled toilet would have liked more Regular spaced water points for fresh water
Bad points -
We were told and in fact chose this site because it allowed open camp fires - again to us it is an essential part of camping we had bought everything for smores only to be told that the sight DOESN'T ALLOW CAMPFIRES ! at all, so if like us you want that evening campfire to sit around do not go here
We were told it was close to barnard castle and we had planned a trip out to go there but shop assistant told me it was over ten miles away not the one mile we had been told! also no transport as we had been told, we were told that you could walk or get a bus to barnard castle this is not true according to the shop assistant we talked to on arriving and she said the taxi would have worked out over twenty pound we didn't get our day out and to us it was an essential part of this trip so if you do not drive you are stuck on this campsite with very little to do
The DOG WALK advertised goes along for roughly five minutes then disappears and splits into three separate paths and none are labelled we therefore returned from the shortest dog walk in history we advise that if you choose to go there ask them if they know which is the way to go as two of the ways appear to be private property and the third is a disused old concrete path strewn with litter and a tunnel that looks scarily like the local drug users haunt my children were to scared to go through it and to be honest I didn't want to either
Sound from road was quite loud and overshadowed the idea of eating outside the small cafe which we had to do as we had our tiny dog with us and therefore were not allowed inside which is fair enough but be prepared for loud noise levels, bugs in their hundreds and there was little shelter from either the baking sun or if it rained
SHOP is very expensive and does not stock basics expected for camping not even calpol for poorly child it does however try to sell you very expensive wine or luxury biscuits
None of PLAY AREAS were supervised whilst not a problem for some for us it meant that all those who choose to let their children run wild took over and were also keeping my children and others from playing, general bullying and nastiness ruined the idea of there even being a play area, my children and other smaller quiet ones did not get to use it
CAFE on sight is horrendously expensive I bought sandwiches drinks and ice cream for me and three children cost me the best part of £40 food was lovely but too expensive to enjoy
There is a central water area like a large pond with trees it attracted huge amounts of bugs take plenty of bug spray!
Although RULES clearly state to keep dog on lead at all times and clean up after dog, quite a lot of people just ignored this and were not followed up by management in fact it looked like I was the only one there with a dog on the lead and with bags cleaning up, this meant children couldn't really play on any grassy areas because of being fouled with dog muck and even the walkway to toilets and shop/cafe were fouled with dog muck which as a person with walking difficulties made it very difficult and quite disgusting to navigate anyone with a wheelchair would have found their chair wheels covered in dog muck
SIZE OF PITCH per tent was very tight we only had a small tent four people one small tent yet we were nose to nose with next tent and could even see right into the one after and hear of course every conversation
The DISABLED TOILET was little more than a wider toilet but glad to see it there and would have preferred a key system but no it was left open to anyone to wander in and foul, a few days both my son and I found it difficult to use due to fouling by previous persons
Sorry to say really in conclusion that this campsite is really trying to be a lovely place but it does not want to be a camp site, it is clearly trying to build and attract a different audience; one that buys static caravans and likes paying extortionate prices for food and wine, it places tents more as an afterthought trying to make money out of the bit of grass they haven't yet built caravans on, yet they clearly have plans to do so in the future there is a ground plan for future development in the shop area showing more caravans to be built and even during our visit the sounds of building were obvious as well as the the actual construction, during this transition period it is neither a decent campsite nor a decent caravan site it needs to look at better management of facilities and either don't allow dogs or enforce the rules, also the provision of a basic items shop rather than a luxury items shop would be beneficial or to have both if they insist, unfortunately I would NOT recommend this campsite to others I am also reviewing with a view to the disabled as with being disabled myself as well as my son it is very important to us and we found this site not helpful or enjoyable, the toilet was a good idea but it was not well managed and only one which is not enough for the size of the site, also everywhere within the camping area was not suitable for wheelchairs I even found it hard work with being on crutches the paths are graveled and bumpy or grassed and bumpy, wheelchair users would not be able to come here at all in my opinion, it is a shame as the owner is so lovely I would really like to see him succeed but he needs to decide which customer base he is trying to please
We will not return and we will not recommend others to visit this site without first telling them of our experience

Just arrived back from a 4 night stay at Thorpe Farm.
Well laid out site and very clean and tidy. What makes this
Site so special is the excellent customer services from the caretaker (Stuart). Been on approximately 20 different camp sites in the Uk and this was the best by far for customer service.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Thorpe Farm Campsite.
We were greeted by the very friendly owner / manager who explained the facilities and showed us to our pitch. We have quite a large tent(about 6m square) and our electric hook up pitch had plenty of room for this and was flat. We were at the other side of the site from the toilet block but the walk was not too far and meant our pitch was nice and quiet. The site is well maintained and child friendly - plenty of room to run around and play ball games and they loved the small park and games room. Good for dogs too, there is also plenty of short dog walks from the site. The shower and toilet block were lovely, regularly cleaned and plenty of hot water. The only negative comment is the slight road noise from the a66 - though you can hear it from most of the site it didn't give us any trouble sleeping.
Overall one of the nicest sites we have been to- we'll definitely be back!

Just back from a wonderful stay at Thorpe Farm Centre for the Easter weekend. Let's start off by mentioning Stuart who was wonderful throughout the whole of the weekend - he takes you to your pitch, gives you the rules (1. Enjoy yourself, 2. Keep camp fires off the ground (and that's it!)), he patrols the site regularly making sure everyone is having a good time but is not in your face. The camp site was quite busy, as you would expect over a bank holiday weekend with the added bonus of good weather. Lovely to see the little ducklings on the pond. The shower block was adequate and there was not an issue with queuing at all, which I was surprised at. The park is very much work in progress but early impressions are that this place is going to be a little gem in the future. We will be returning here soon as I did not realise how lovely Barnard Castle is. If you're thinking of taking the plunge to buy a static caravan, you would not go far wrong choosing this place.

Just back after a few fabulous days at Thorpe Farm. Lovely site, great facilities (immaculate toilets etc) little issue with the water but the Staff were great, friendly and helpful. The owner was brilliant, made us feel really welcome and nothing we asked about was an issue. We will be back and would certainly recommend.

Just arrived back from a two night stay at Thorpe Farm. The campsite itself is well looked after with plenty of space for kids etc to play. Lovely little pond & trees in the centre of the site and a small play park. There was some road noise from the A66 but no problem.
Staff really friendly, Stuart was great, waiting for us as we arrived late. Then patrolling late at night to make sure all was ok. Toilets & showers warm & clean and also an indoor room for kids to play in.
The shop/cafe was a little gem! Yes some things are a bit pricey. But £7. 95 for an overflowing plate of fresh Sunday dinner was worth every penny. It's licensed too. There's a really good meal/snack selection. Gift shop is good too, with cards & trinkets for sale.
Loads of walks straight from the site. Also a huge dog walking area and also fields with donkeys, llamas and what I think were emus?
All in all a great site that is in the middle of a major refurbishment. New holidays lodges & landscaping being done.
Only one minor problem that was not the fault of the park. Please please please dog owners, will you keep your dogs under control at all times and clean up after them. The rules of the park do state for dogs to be on a leash at all times but the caravan in front of us had three dogs on the loose at various times and pooping with the owners taking no notice. The park staff had not realised this so no fault of theirs. And yes we had our dog with us too, so not dog haters! The poor staff had to then go and clean up after them.
All in all a good friendly site, recommended.
