We've just come back from a lovely weekend at this campsite and I wanted to do a review straight away. Tim and Karen are great hosts and came around a couple of times to see if we were OK. Lovely breakfast from owner. The location is absolutely stunning and as we had lovely weather this made it even more attractive. We didn't do the farm tour as we went out cycling but wish we had as I think it was a real hit. Unfortunately we had a large group who were really noisy on the first night (Friday) but to be fair to the owner approached them and asked them to leave. Not a very nice thing to have to do and they said they were going to start a Facebook hate campaign so if you see that ignore it. They were up until about 3am just being too loud for a small family site. The only thing I would say in a negative way about the site is the facilities. Only one shower and two toilets isn't enough and they really do need to be upgraded. However, we still had a great time, the fire pits are a great idea.

We spent just one night here on our way down to Pembrokeshire but what a lovely night! Despite the thunderstorm just after we arrived, the campsite was small but perfectly formed. Tim and his wife were extremely welcoming and did more than enough to make sure we were settled for the night. I highly recommend breakfast. Fabulous eggs!
We would have loved to stay longer, and my daughters loved the farm and collecting the eggs in the morning.

Nicholson Farm used to be a great place. Yes it is a working farm, the drive is badly pot holed, the facilities basic but you received a warm welcome, it was friendly and relaxed, camp fires were provided without hesitation with no rules and regulations. Sadly this is not the case any more. Our fourth visit to this site has proved a great disappointment resulting in us leaving after one night. The drive was particularly bad this time, there was no lock on the ladies shower which was not rectified the next day, and the gents showers were very dirty. Thunder, lightening and torrential rain resulted in our tent leaking which meant we had to sleep in our mpv, which luckily has a bed. With no guarantee it would stay fine, we asked to park our vehicle near the tent in case of emergency. This was declined and we left. The rules now are that everyone must park in the car park, right away from your unit and the only reason we can think of for this is that more pitches can be crammed onto the site. We won't be returning which is a great shame. PS be aware the farm dogs do tend to use tents and vehicles to pee on which is unfortunate!

This campsite gives a lovely experience. The owners were fantastic (thankyou so much for the help with our friend who was hospitalised!) I don't know how they have so much energy, work so hard yet remain so charming. The really convenient firebaskets were a treat. The layout was fantastic - loads of space between our pitches even over a busy weekend when they were full. All of this lead to a great mood on the site. I really got the impression that they have thought hard about what visitors need and what makes a great stay. Kids loved the spaces to play including the various swings, slides and dens. The extra surprises like the farm tour and the waterslide that appeared out of nowhere ruled out any tiny chance of kids getting bored. They could explore but were never far away - always within sight and calling distance. The thoughtful layout gave you a feeling of privacy even though you were never far away from the things you needed. Toilets and showers and washing-up space were perfectly fine for our visit in July 2013. Better than fine actually - checked regularly and well supplied. A lovely intimate campsite in a great setting that I have no hesitation recommending.

What a brilliant weekend we had on Nicholson Farm !
It was our first visit to the farm and it exceeded all our expectations. We are two families of 5 and a dog.
The site was small (a real bonus), well laid out and family friendly. The children played all day on the swings, tunnel and even caught some fish.
The owners were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble. My son was attacked by insect bites and they gave me some Germolene which was a godsend as I had forgotten to pack any. Thank you for that.
The local pub was great, lovely food and excellent service. Worth a visit.
The facilities are good, clean and functional. Nice touches with the fresh towels and hand soap.
We all had a a brilliant weekend, the farm tour, tractor ride and milk tasting were some of the highlights.
We will definitely be returning, let's hope we have the weather we have just had, glorious sunshine ! Thank you.

Having just arrived back from our second time camping and our first time visiting Nicholson Farm this weekend, we found the owners most welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The campsite was spotless despite being on a working dairy farm. The children ejoyed the park facilities, the wildlife and most importantly Tim's farm tour. Being able to relax and enjoy the piece and quiet whilst knowing the children were safe was a pleasure.
The use of one the camp fires was fantastic and purchasing wood to burn at just £6. 00 was made simple, we also had the pleasure of purchasing free range eggs and bacon which tasted amazing, we even bought some home.
The toilet block, showers and washing up facilities were kept immaculate and despite other reviews we never ran out of hot water.
Overall we found Nicholson Farm truly addictive and have already booked to go back in August.

What a lovely campsite!
This was our first camping trip with our 17 month old, so we where a little worried about how it would go! our minds were put at rest as soon as we were greeted, a warm friendly welcome, and a real homely feel.
The site is small in scale but intimate, and everything is within easy walking distance, toilets/shower spotless, the camping area clean and well looked after, and the kids play area well maintained. Lovely walks through the fields and down by the fishing lake.
The farmer takes the kids round the farm and our little one loved it, mooing at the cows, and it was really nice to find out how a farm runs. This is a working farm but they have always got time for you, leave your bacon n sausages at home! you can buy plenty here, you can even have a full farmyard breakfast! I can confirm the sausages are tasty :)
Once you have unpacked your tent/supplies, all cars are parked a 30 second walk away in the next field/carpark, which is nice, get the cars out of the way and enjoy the lovely views.
This is a gem of a site, where you are made to feel welcome, and its nice and chilled, big thumbs up! We will be returning!

We absolutely love Nicholson Farm - we try to visit a few times a year, and have never been disappointed. The farm is relaxing, family friendly and surrounded by countryside and wildlife. Tim and Karen are fantastic hosts, and Tim's farm tours, and other activities are always informative, enjoyable and fun. This is the perfect site, where children have plenty of space, and have to use their imaginations to make their own fun. Tim and Karen will do everything they can to help - they actually come and speak to every camper every day (despite the fact this is a working farm and they are very busy). The wood fires are a must, as are the bacon, eggs and sausages for sale. We will never tire of the views and the hospitality of Tim and Karen and would recommend Nicholson Farm to anybody.

We have just returned from a fabulous bank holiday weekend at Nicholson Farm.
Travelled after work on Friday and received phone call on route from farmer Tim to check everything was ok as we were a bit later than anticipated.
The site was full which was to be expected on a bank holiday and pitch was quite tight but tent fitted on ok, car had to be parked in car park but again no problem as it meant there was more space for kids to play and for us to spread out abit.
Only two ladies toilets and one shower which I thought may be a problem but didn't have to wait for either and no problems with cleanliness, Presume mens was the same.
Fresh bacon, sausages and eggs purchased from the house which were gorgeous, also borrowed a fire pit and bought a huge bucket of wood for six pounds so had a roaring fire when the sun went down!
Went for a long walk one day which brought us to the local pub which did excellent food and it even had talking and singing parrots in the garden. Plenty of places to drive to but as weather was so lovely we just chilled by the tent and let our son play football.
Farmer Tim did a walk round the farm for the campers which was very interesting as it is a dairy farm and he explained about the welfare of the cows in order to get the milk.
And that brings me on to the best selling point of the campsite. The location and Farmer Tim and Karen.
The views are beautiful and so tranquil except the birds in the morning and the cows mooing, Tim is a great character and seems to love mingling with his guests, he certainly made us feel welcome and we will certainly be returning for chilled weekends as it is only an hours drive from where we live.

Booked very last minute (Saturday morning of Whit Bank holiday weekend, weather too good to resist!)
Arrived at site and allocated pitch - was between two 'playground areas' - a wooden fort and willow igloo ('wigloo' - adorable!) and the swings/tunnel slide, which meant for swarms of kids around us but no problem for us as we have two of our own to add to the mix. Pitch had a slight slope but ground was well maintained and we had a lot of space around us. Cars have to park away from pitches, which is great when you have young children, but you are welcome to park up to pack/unpack etc.
We absolutely loved it here - the owners were wonderful, taking time to check everyone was ok, providing the best, freshest eggs we have ever tasted, as well as fire pits and logs (also available is sausage and bacon, and even cooked breakfasts to take away. )
The atmosphere on the site was friendly and relaxed - it was very much a child friendly site with lots of kids around, but all parents were respectful of the 10. 00pm noise curfew and they all vanished to their own tents on the dot. The farm tour was a treat - Tim takes time to walk visitors round the farm and surrounding fields and shares his knowledge of the countryside.
Shower and toilet facilities were adequate - there were queues at some points but it was probably one of the busiest weekends of the year and nothing too worrying. There is a washing up station and excellent recycling facilities. Overall, a lovely site, and one we plan to return to later in the season.
