We stayed on the terraces which were level as we had little bambino Gracie(newborn) and my 6 year old. It was absolutely ideal with a on site Bar, Park, Toilets, Pizzaria (a bit dear though!) but anyway loved it, loved it, loved it. The Staff were very helpful on days out and also gave us promo codes for fairground attractions ect so it made it cheaper which was great! Sea views are superb and just a short walk to the beach and local bars, all serving food! Weather was scorching, beach was cleanest I've been to in UK and the Mullions Cove and Cadgwith Cove seafood BBQ was well worth the visit (every Wed) mmmmmmmmmmm. Anyway we just wanted to add this and say a big thank you to the owners and all staff at Chy Carne we have camped all over Wales ete but this was by far the best we have been to for cleanliness (yes the toilets do get messy but the staff clean all through the day)
We are back in August for two weeks

A lovely child friendly campsite with lovely view of the Kenack Sands.
We had a serviced pitch with easy access to drinking water, literally in front of our tent.
We were also near the playground but it was fine, not far from the facilities.
The washing room could do with more maintenance. I think during the busy times they were cleaned twice a day but definitely at least once a day about 9-10pm. There is a bigger shower cubicle with couple showers for family.
The shop on site is quite expensive, the again it is always almost expected on any site. They have a bar and takeaway hut. They do takeaway pizzas from the shop and again it is on the expensive side £8 for 9' Peperoni.
You can walk down to the Kenack Sands beach, beware that it is a steep hill coming back up but it was not a problem for us. The roads down to the beach is narrow.
Overall experience, great campsite for first time 8 days camping! It just could do with bigger freezer and a fridge would be very useful too.

A very friendly welcome on arrival! Although we were in the field with no EHU which was sloping we managed to find a fairly flat pitch towards the end of the field, this did mean however that we were quite a distance from the shower and toilet block, not good for my toddler but we made the best of it!
The site itself is a bit tatty but very functional and the atmosphere was very family friendly and pleasant! The staff were all wonderful, friendly and helpful!
On the down side, the bin area was overflowing and very very smelly, there were just not enough large bins there.
There was a large bonfire pit at the end of the non EHU field which was lit on our last night and it added such a wonderful feel to our camping trip that we really didn't mind the rain haha!
All in all if I wanted to return to the Lizard I would definitely return to Chy Carne!
Owner's comments: Thank you for your honest and truthful review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that we are a site that you would return to. You make a few points firstly regarding the site being slightly tatty. We are not to sure what you mean by this as we have recently invested a great deal of time ,money and hard work into many improvements on site . Not many sites can boast two modern shower blocks one being located to the top of the non ehu camping field with new toilets and a new washing up area only a few meters to where you were pitched. Pitches are allocated depending on your requirements and often a choice will always be given however this may depend on the time of year unfortunately not all requests can be met but we will do our upmost best to accomadate. (We do allow non ehu campers to pitch in electric pitches if they are available. ) We have made many improvements to the site and one of the improvements is our bin area with 15 new recycling bins for glass, plastic, cans despite this campers still put these items into the general waste and 14 large waste bins. We are however disappointed that despite all our efforts that there are visitors that completely don`t care what they throw away or where they leave it. Resulting in many camping items being placed into the bins such as tents, cool boxes gazebo`s etc and the waste rubbish being thrown onto the floor. unfortunately the nature of the waste rubbish in warmer weather can from time to time smell more than usual but the bin area is a distance from the camping and touring pitches and generally is accepted that it is unavoidable. However rubbish on all campsites is a continue problem nether knowing how much or how little will be produced. Please do note that we are listening and will look at other ways to deal with the problem We do hope that you will return and we look forward to seeing you again Best wishes Brian and Susan Saffill

Got back at the weekend after a few days at Chy Carne. We were on the field with EHU near the shower blocks and toilet sheds.
Site itself nice enough, I thought there had been some sort of kids entertainment advertised at the time which we went but nothing was happening
Also it is worth mentioning that the marquee wasn't open until Weds PM and the takeaway hut not open until Thursday PM. Not a huge problem as we ate a pizza from the shop-cum-takeaway which was nice enough, if not a little bit pricey, and the BBQ chicken didn't really taste of BBQ.
The showers were spot-on and clean, smart, as were the toilet huts! Thought it was a bit odd at first only having 2 huts/sheds as toilets but they are actually very clean and warm and only had to wait once for a free one!
Views lovely and a nice walk down to the beach (or drive). Didn't go into the local pub or any of the cafes on the beach so can't comment on those.
Shop stocked the essentials but note that newspapers, magazines and cigarettes were not available during our stay and although the Parkdean site down the road has a Costcutter, it doesn't open until late (or didn't during the week), so bear in mind and if you like a morning read or cigs get them on the way in or from the other site shop.
Helston is 9miles away and has a large Tesco and Sainsburys for your goodies, and Flambards is worth a visit if you have younger kids (look out for the BOGOF leaflets in Tesco).
Kids played a little on the pirate ship play area at the site which is nice but small.
We hired a chimnea for a couple of nights which was nice once it got going and when the skies are clear it is lovely to sit by the fire and satellite-spot
I wouldn't go back to Chy Carne simply as I like a bit more for the kids to do on-site but that's just us, it is a very nice little site

What a nice site. The owners Brian & Sue are very friendly people and work hard to make your stay as enjoyable as they can. We only stayed for 1 week as part of the UKCampsite. Co. Uk members meet but really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely use the site again.
The toilets and showers were clean, constant hot water which makes a change.
The shop had most things that you need, good play area for the kids, little amusement room with game machines, nice walk to the beach (15 mins) and a good location for visiting all the little coves in the area.
All in all can't wait to go back but for a longer period.
Only negative shop does not do newspapers but can understand why, just missed my morning read.

I have visited Chy Carne for many years and had such happy holidays. The site is very clean and pleasant, I have met some very nice people. The caravans I have stayed in have been very clean and comfortable.
The owners Sue and Brian are so very helpful. The site is very dog friendly which is so important to us. I would recommend this site to anyone. The shop has plenty to offer and also they have Chakka Chan take away food which offers a wide range of food, it is very good quality and value for money.
The views when out walking are awesome and just take your breath away. My sister and her grandchildren have camped for 2 weeks in te school holidays and highly recommend it.
The shower blocks are very clean and there are facilities for washing dishes and also washers and dryers for laundry.

We stayed for 2 weeks, very friendly welcoming site, spotlessly clean showers/toilets.
The only criticisms are the non EHU pitches aren't very level (we had to rearrange our beds several times to avoid rolling off) and there was only one bin/chemical waste area which was at the other end of the site which meant driving up to dispose of it.
Very small criticisms though as we had a great time. The Cider Barn nearby is well worth a visit, lots of wine/cider to taste (gorgeous), the local coves and beaches are lovely,
stunning views and good fishing spots.

Spent a week at Chy Carne and we had a lovely week. Arrived on the site mid week and we were the only ones on the site untill the weekend.
Stunning sea views from the campsite and lovely warm and clean showers and toilets and plenty off them!
Site is run by extremely friendly people who were only too happy to help - They even sent a fax for me while I was there!
Note to the campsite - they chalets as you enter the site are looking quite shabby and do bring down what is a lovely, friendly and well looked after campsite!
Owner's comments: Thank you for your recent review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. we note your comments regarding some of the chalets. In the past three years,we have invested a great deal of time, effort and money into improvements to the holiday park with a new fully equipped shop and games room , a new shower block with new toilets and a new washing up area ,drainage, children`s play equipment . New electrics hook up points, fencing, refurbishment of our existing shower block with new pumping systems for the showers, marquee, bar, takeaway and pizza , new washing machines and tumble driers in fact these are only a few improvements we have made and with many that go unnoticed but more are planned including the replacement of the chalets. However this will take a little time and a serious expense on our behalf. However we will replace them once the finance is there to do so We have for 2012 been awarded by the AA a upgrade to a 4 pennant campsite from a 3 pennant for which we are very proud of A true testament of our hard work and commitment to provide more to our customers old or new ,we look forward to seeing you again in the very near future and thank you for leaving a honest and truthful review Brian and Susan Saffill

First time at this site in our Campervan, lovely big site great views out to sea.
Was very quiet which suited us fine, owners were very friendly and helpful and full of info about the local area and places to see.
This site is a great base for visiting all around the Lizard and Lands End area.
Facilities were very clean and nice hot showers.
We will definitely be coming back

Another 2 great weeks at Chy Carne, We stayed in the lower field this time just passed the marquee next to the road, it was a bit sloping but with the van at the right angle it was not a problem. The drainage has improved a lot this year and wasn't an issue for anyone.
The takeaway hut was a great improvement this year and we made good use of it. The shop was well stocked and had the essentials when we needed them. The kids love the place the found that the skittle alley was the perfect place for scooter practice and as they were 4 it contained them quite well.
They also loved the pirate ship and the new swings. Although the site was full we didn't have a problems with queues for the shower but then we don't go at the times when we know everyone else will, we're on holiday so normal routine goes out the window and stuff happens when it happens.
The beach we use is Poldhu Cove about 20-30 minute drive away but great for the kids as safe, and a stream runs through the beach for those that want a paddle but don't like the sea.
The owners are great people and will always do everything they can to help. If your reading this before you go if there is anything you need please talk to then, they will help all they can but can only do that if they know about it.
Will we return, you bet we will. Cannot see us ever staying anywhere else in Cornwall.
