This site has everything we wanted - large spacous pitches, safe outdoor play area for the kids, indoor games room, large marquee with seating to meet up with friends, catering unit, washing up + laundry areas (undercover), well stocked on-site shop, beaches close by (one side dog friendly).
We will definitely be booking again for 2012 (third year in a row and we still haven't seen or visited everything - the RNAS Air Show is a fantastic day out and this campsite is located very close by).
All in all a fantastic holiday, we didn't want to leave - well done and big pat on the back to the owners for all their hardwork.

The site has a flat area with marked pitches and EHU and then two slightly sloping fields with some marked EHU pitches, the rest just grass. Hedges around the edges with wildflowers but not too high so not a lot of shade during the hottest week of the year so far! Lovely sea views from the higher areas. Second camping field is also dog walking area so watch out for dogs off their leads.
Good showers and loos and a washing up shed between the 2 camping fields and 2 new loos in the process of being installed next to that which will be great for us non EHU campers when finished. Plenty of water taps all around the fields. The shop was being refurbished so couldn’t say whether well stocked. Small supermarket in Ruan Minor and great fresh fish shop in Cadgwith, where catch is landed daily.
Short walk to Kennack Sands which is a good sandy beach and has cafes selling meals as well as drinks and ice creams. Also close to coastal path where there are good walks in both directions. Saw basking sharks off the coast path just south of Kennack Sands most days. Pub just outside the campsite but didn’t try it.
Overall a lovely site with very friendly owners in a beautiful part of Cornwall. Would return any time it is not quite so hot!

We have just returned home from 2 weeks at Chy Carne we had a great time. The location of the site is fantastic with an amazing view of the sea as you walk across from the amenity block.
The amenity block was busy and involved some queuing for showers at peak times but the water was plentiful and hot. I understand they are installing more showers for next season which will be a bonus. We made full use of the camp shop and the snack shack.
Indeed we had a great breakfast this morning from the shack whilst we were striking camp. During the meet several units had deliveries from Asda and Tesco - but we went and collected our supplies mainly from the new Sainsburys in Helston, there is a Tescos in Helston too which is in the process of being enlarged for next year and also nearby is Asda at Penryn.
We had some great meals out whilst away - if you are into seafood then we would recommend Pandoras Inn at Mylor and the most southerly cafe on the Lizard. If you want fresh fish to cook yourself we would recommend the Quayside Fish Shop at Port Leven just 2 miles from Helston. Or the Fish Cavern at Cadgwith Cove open from 3pm in the week.
Days out included the national seal sanctuary which was popular with our girls 18, 6 and 2. The Lizard Lighthouse and St Ives.
All in all a brilliant site, very child friendly with plenty to do within a short walk or drive.

Have just stayed for a week at Chy Carne! First experience of staying on a campsite and it was brilliant. A very friendly, safe, clean site with good facilities, electric hook ups and fresh water, great shower block and a shop on site!
Play equipment for kids is great and the views are spectacular! We were in a converted bus and had no problem with access. Lovely beach within walking distance, ideal if you have a dog with you!
Plenty of places to visit close by so site is ideally situated for a great holiday on the Lizard! A very laid back site where you can truly chill out and relax!

We arrived home yesterday after spending a week here, and I can honestly say its been the best holiday we have had in our 4 or so years of camping, none of us wanted to leave.
The views from the site are stunning, whether looking towards the side of the valley, or out to sea watching the waves crashing onto the cliffs, you can even hear the sea when its quiet, and it does go quiet at night, just a few families round the fire baskets having a few drinks, and getting to know fellow campers, who were all really friendly.
All the pitches are large, we had caravan, awning, and car with plenty of space around us, the facilities are basic but clean, and has everything you need, including family shower, baby changing mat, and hairdryer.
I'm sure when the new reception, shop, games room is finished that whole area will look completely different, and will be a lot easier to work from.
Our grandson was well catered for on site, he loved it, we only saw him at meal times, or when his DS needed recharging !
Brian, and Sue work so hard to make sure everyone is happy, not forgetting Steve of course.
There is plenty of room to exercise the dogs, a big field where they can run around, and dog bins.
Covereck is a lovely little village with a dog friendly beach, as well as the east side of Kenneck sands, the seal sanctuary at Gweek is worth a visit, and of course the Dr Who ex at Lands End.
We quite felt like royalty when we left on Saturday, as all the campers we had met were waving us off, and when I said goodbye to Sue, I felt quite upset. This site has it all.

We initially booked to stay on this site for 4 nights and ended up staying 8 we were delighted with our pitch with sea views were amazing. We had our own fire pit that was free of charge.
The shower block was spotlessly clean and the play area for children kept our children amused for hours. I will definitely be recommending this site to friends and family. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked to return again in August.

Only stayed here for 2 nights, but I would stay again. Very relaxing atmosphere with large pitches and great views.
The building site at the entrance is a little off-putting when you first arrive (they're developing a new reception & shop I believe) and, as check-in is only between certain hours, we weren't quite sure where we were meant to park our 'van. We guessed and it turned out to be ok though.
A walk down the hill takes you the nearest beach. I'd say it was too far to walk with really little children, especially as it's a very steep walk back home again, but with teenagers, etc. It's fine.
On site, there is play equipment for the smaller children but also plenty of room for older ones to kick a football around, etc. My children enjoyed using the outdoor pool table.
If you have a motorhome, this area of Cornwall has a lot of narrow roads and it's tricky to park very close to the beaches, etc. But if you are prepared to walk, you can get to the more out of the way places and it is a very peaceful, remote, wild area to explore.

We visited this site with ukcs members July and August 2009, where do I start ??
Location: Being only 3 miles from the lizard Chy Carne is ideally located for visiting many attractions like Cornish camels, Lands end, Lizard point, Goonhilly, the cider barn, flambards, the list goes on, along with local towns like Falmouth, Penzance, Truro and Redruth, depending on where you are pitched you have sea views around Kennack sands which is the local beach reached down a narrow steep lane of approx 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile.
Facilities: There are water and hook up points within easy reach of most units and the CDP is towards the rear of the mens toilets, waste water goes down the drainage of the water points. The shower block was cleaned 3 times daily when we were there by an ever smiling young lady who took pride in her job, even when the site suffered 18 hrs of rain the toilets were as clean as could possibly be expected.Within the shower and toilet block are wash basins and a hair dryer (no good to me :))
There is a small shop on site which sells an amazing amount of products for its size and also a catering van offering hot food.
The children were well catered for with a big pirate ship with climbing and slides built in, there was also outdoor table tennis and pool table in a small tented area, the owner has promised swings for next year, a promise I know he will keep as he is fully commited to the site and says its the people that make the site what it is,
The owners: Brian and Sue, 2 of the nicest most helpful people you could wish to meet, nothing was to much trouble for them, even providing us with a huge board when the entrance to our awning became a bog.
I cannot find anything to fault this site on, it has to be the best 2 weeks we have ever had away, a place we will be returning to without fail and one we would highly recommend.

We had a fantastic holiday while staying here, so much so we've booked again for August 2010.
The layout of the camp sit is good offering sea views or green fields.
The office / shop was located in a chalet as the new office / shop was being built. The shop was well stocked having just about everything that you would need, even freezing ice packs for you free of charge.
The toilet and shower block was well maintained, showers were free with constant hot water available.
There is a laundry room available with washing and drying facilities.
Brian, Sue and their staff were cheerful and nothing was too much trouble.
Situated on the lizard peninsula there's plenty to see and do, even if it's raining. BT earth station on Goonhilly downs, Seal sanctuary at Gweek, cadgewith, Kynance cove, Mullion cove to name but a few places.
The only gripe I had with the site was the mud at the end of the road on the bottom camping field, but then again the wet weather wasn't the fault of the owners and every effort had been made to try and get around the problem.

We returned from Chycarne a few weeks ago. After seeing the website I knew it was going to be very nice but I was shocked when I arrived it was even better than the website said!
Situated on the Lizard 10 minutes walk to Kennack Sands a beach that has a section for those with dogs, beautiful clean sands and clear blue waters which are safe for bathing, boogie boarding etc and its a lifeguard patrolled beach too so you know help is at hand if need be :)
The campsite is set on one side of the stunning Gwendreath valley, Most pitches have wonderful sea views, all pitches are spacious some are slightly slopping but this didn't seem a problem to tenters, motorhomers or caravanners at all :)
The toilet block is situated at the top of the field 4 showers and 4 toilets in both ladies and mens with constant hot water 24/7,there's is also a 4 sink plate wash and 2 washing machines and 2 tumblers industrial sized which is great for all the holiday laundry! down in the bottom field there is a shed with 2 sinks aswell all plate washes were fed with piping hot water! in addition to the toilets there are portable toilets dotted around the bottom field aswell.
This site is ideal for families with children of any age, The pirate ship play area is fab for the little uns' and the pool, football tables and air hockey is great for the older ones, plus there is an outdoor skittle alley which is great fun for all the family!
A fantastic addition to this campsite is a marquee that was erected this summer, great meeting place for campers who are on a rally (like ourselves) and for others who are not,it provided well needed shelter in our few nasty days of weather,we had many a fab night in the marquee :)
As you come into the site they are building a new shop and reception is will have WI-FI access in 2010 :) there is a small but well stocked shop in one of the chalets all your daily essentials and more plus lots of sweets for the kids! and your always greeted with a huge smile :D
Next to the marquee there is a burger van reasonably priced fast food :) and another small shop selling sweets and beach stuff!
Brian and Sue the owners are so accommodating to the people staying on the site,to have owners like that is a real bonus :)
So many plus things to say and not one minus.OK the shower block got a little muddy but it didn't bother me or my family :)
I can't wait to return to Chycarne again :)
