The site owners were reasonably friendly. We ate from the burger van on site rather than go down to the pub, using the large marquee as a dining room. The shower blocks were large and no queues, free hot water, but there was no shower curtain / door so the water sprayed directly at clothes hanging on the door and had to balance them on top of the wall. The washers / driers were £2.50 for a token. We used two and still had damp clothes. I think the good things were the marquee and the plots were levelled.

Stayed here for a week in August, last minute decision, just squeezed us in. Had a spacious pitch on the second field, with electric hook-up, and a lovely view out to sea. Pitch was a bit muddy on arrival, dried up a bit through the week. Really enjoyed our stay here, think we were the only ones on site without kids, looked like they were well catered for. Only one small gripe, the shower block could have been a bit cleaner, not bad by any means, but needed a bit of tlc. This was the only fault I can think of, owners happy to help and friendly. Will def stay here again.

Just returned from a 2 week get together at this site and all I can say Brian and Sue are the best site owners you could wish to stay with. They are working on the site all the time and loads of things are being improved and changed. So the couple of bits that are not quite spot on won't be mentioned here, as by the time you get there, they won't be.
It is quite a good size site but not massive there is a first area with chalets and statics which is also where the reception and Shop is ( building a new one at the moment ) the next field is a more organised camping field with marked pitches and nice and level this also has the toilet block. In the gents there were 2 Us 4 traps 5 sinks and 4 showers, it got busy at peek times but pretty good usually and kept clean. ( Brian plans to build another in the future ) The 3rd field is half marked and flat and half unmarked and slightly sloping and the 4th is unmarked and slightly sloped.
There is a large marquee in the centre of the site that is great to get you out of your unit but stay dry in the wonderful British summer. It is also a good place to meet some of your fellow campers. There is a takeaway food van next to it but if you buy from there go with an open mind as to what you want as it can be a bit hit and miss with the menu.
The beach is a 10 minute walk down the HILL to the popular Kennack sands. There is a car park which I think was £3 a day. If you do walk it will take much longer to get back up the hill, and as it is a single track road without a path it might not be easy if you have kids and all the gear in tow. So if you drive take it slow and note the passing places as you will need to backup into them.
Goonhilly Earth Station is the closest local attraction and I feel it is not be worth the money if you pay full price but would be if you use your tesco vouchers.
Helston is the closest local town and has a 24 hr Tesco that will have all you need is is about 8 mile away but is a nice easy drive past Goonhilly and the RNAS Culdrose ( there is a nice little cafe at the Culdrose public viewing enclosure .
Flambards is also at Helston and you can use you Tesco days out vouchers here. ( not sure if you can change you reward vouchers too like you can for Goonhilly).
If you are prepared to drive there is a huge amount going on in Cornwall and you should never get bored but if you are lucky enough to get the sunshine go to some of the beaches around and enjoy that, Surfing, sandcastles, rockpooling, lounging, great days.
Back to the site. See you again next year Chy Carne I'm looking forward to it already

Just come back from a fab 2 weeks in Chy Carne, have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. What a great site! There's plenty of factual descriptions of the site on here, so I'll keep my review brief:
Love the huge Marquee for communal use.
Love the 'custom made' picnic benches all over the place.
Love the fire pits and the chimineas dotted around the site.
Love the outdoor skittle alley - great idea!
But most of all love the site owner's attitude towards his customers. This is a lively site, where the site owner encourages people to enjoy themselves whilst on holiday. An attitude to be treasured now-a-days.

All the staff on site were brill! Steve,Tim,Jackie to name afew.
Great dishwashing area (undercover) 2 washers and dryers. Toilets and showers clean, lots of hot water.I personally never had to cue!
Shop stocked well, with essential items.
Playground to keep kids amused. Beach 10 min walk, east side for dogs.

Lovely views from very generously sized pitches. Plenty of hot water in the showers! Very friendly staff.Loved the marquee and food outlet. Nice touch! Nice safe children's play area, and plenty of room for them to run around! Heltston, Falmouth and Coverack are well worth a visit, as is the Ice Cream Factory and Goonhilly! Nice walk down to the beach, which is perfect for the kids.Loads of rock pools to explore!

Just back from 2 fantastic weeks at Chy Carne. The playground and games marquee kept my children entertained and they made loads of friends.
Happy Kids = Happy Parents
Sue and Brian were fabulous and friendly and couldn't have been anymore helpful. The large marquee is fab and saved us from being stuck in our tent during relentless rain. The showers always had lovely hot water although at times they were muddy (you can't help the good old British weather). There are 2 well stocked shops & a Burger/Hot Food Bar, which was great for a snack after a hard day down the beach. Ice pack freezing was free which was fab as we were changing them twice a day. I will be returning next year and can't wait.

I thought I would like to write my own findings regarding this site - they seem rather different to the previous reviews.
On arriving we felt that the chalets looked a little dated and slightly off-putting compared to the rest of the site. There was some building work going on which I think was to be the new site office / shop. This will be a real bonus to the site as while we were there the office / shop was in one of the chalets. The shop was very well stocked and you could freeze your ice-blocks free of charge. The lady in the shop, Sue, was always very friendly and helpful.
When we were shown to our pitch (the lady in the shed selling sweets, toys etc. Showed us), we were very disappointed. We were unable to move as the site was fully booked so we had to put up with it. If you look on the photo showing the gazebo with the pool table underneath, well our tent was pitched right next to that! We were literally 5 feet away. Not very nice having your breakfast outside your tent when next to you are kids playing pool! There was also a football table, air hockey and table tennis table which of course all attracted lots of older kids and we felt like we were in a bit of a goldfish bowl. The hook-up was in the corner of the gazebo and one plug had to be removed so ours could be plugged in. Behind our pitch was a slope which led to the catering van, so there were rather a lot of people using our pitch as a short-cut, even though we tried to mark out our plot with wind-breaks we still had people going between our tent and the wind-breaks to get there!
The toilet block was ok. The vents and tops of dividing walls were filthy but the cubicles were kept clean. There were 2 occasions when there was no soap in the dispenser. Showers were always hot and free of charge. A couple of the toilets and one shower cubicle had no lock on it (an easy problem to sort out, you would think). Also we thought the placement of two sweet vending machines was rather odd - in the entrance of the toilet block??
The dishwashing facilities were always clean and in a room which also housed the 2 washing machines and tumble drier. I used the washing machine once, I think it was nearly £5 for one wash - very expensive.
The pirate ship was a very nice addition for smaller children although we noticed that there was an awful lot of rubbish inside the seating area which didn't get collected while we were there.
Places of interest:
Flambards - use your Tesco vouchers for this. A fantastic theme park, great rides and attractions (The Blitz), brilliant free fireworks night on Wednesday.
Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, expensive but nice to meet the residents.
Helston, great town which has everything you need - nice fish and chips!
Lands End - a long way to go and very expensive (wouldn't go again). You pay for various attractions but really only the Doctor Who attraction is worth the money.
St. Ives went twice. Saw seals in the sea both times we went. Very pretty place and very busy. Get there early to book a boat trip. Park at the top and walk down the hill and get on the bus back to the car park (only a couple of pounds for 5 of us).
Lizard Point - breathtaking views, again, nice fish and chips.
Eden Project - all I can say is wow! A bit of a journey but well worth it.
Kynance Cove fantastic big waves check the tide time table as there wouldn't be any beach at all at high tide and you'd have to climb on to the rocks.
Mullion - a lovely village. It has a great Spar which sells gorgeous cornish pasties. Mullion Cove is a must also.
To sum up, of the camp site, make sure you are not pitched by the sports / amusement tables.
Of the area, all you really need is a body board and wet suit because the waves and all the many coves are just fantastic.
Cornwall is totally awesome.

What a lovely site this was. The owners were so friendly and helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble.
A lot of pitches were spacious and had stunning views down to the sea.
The showers were ALWAYS hot. The site was very busy and full but the facilities were kept clean by the non stop cleaner that seemed to be permanently mopping.
2 washing up areas both with constant hot water. Launderette with very large washer and dryer!
Huge marquee with tables and seating inside for use by campers. Also, a little takeaway next to it. Also, a smaller tent with pool/air hockey etc.
The play area was lovely and kept the children amused for hours.
All in all a wonderful site. Very nicely laid out, clean and run by the most friendly owners who work so hard to ensure everyone is happy.
We will definitely be returning.

Chy Carne - what can I say that hasn't already been said?! A brilliant site for our first 'rally' with UKCS (ie. The clarkes, lingray, bigbird, etc). Had everything we wanted - large pitches, play area for the kids, marquee to meet up with friends, catering unit, washing up + laundry area, on-site shop, beaches close by (one side dog friendly). Would go back again tomorrow (if it wasn't for the 7 hour drive from the Midlands!)
All in all, a fantastic holiday
