'Ended up' at this site due to a large meet happening locally. Initial email communications were good and friendly, with quick responses received.
The couple who were on reception the whole time we were there were really friendly and helpful.
Facilities were fairly basic, but totally fine - hot water in the showers, which were clean. It felt like there weren't enough toilets / showers for the number of people there, but they were still kept clean.
We were descended upon by a party of Dutch Landrover enthusiasts, which didn't leave much space, but they were friendly enough!
Location wise, this site is amazing - surrounded by so much beauty! Steam trains right by the campsite, a great pub (with wifi) a couple of minutes away, a great river to play in. Loads more within easy driving distance.
We loved it here and will definitely be back.

Stayed 2 nights. Lovely location, bus or train ride to Llangollen or Corwen. Walked back to site from Llangollen on Dee Valley Way. Showers were free clean & hot, facilities in old barn look a bit primitive at first glance but in fact were fine. Field across quiet road from main site has elec and portacabin loos but they were clean and large field gives feeling of spaciousness. Would definitely go again.

We had a lovely overnight stay here. Gentleman very helpful when I rang up on the morning to see if they had vacancies, and also on arrival very helpful. We were told the usual site information and also about a local pub, a carnival at the nearby village, and the steam train, just over the road. So we had a walk to the carnival which was a small local event, very friendly ( we brought local eggs) and that evening we went to the local pub for a drink, also very nice. On the Sunday, we went on the train which we would recommend. The site itself was nice, reasonably flat, clean toilets, and showers, basic but all you need. Great location. Thank you for a good weekend
we are a couple touring in a campervan with no pets or children.

Just stayed at station campsite it is in a stunning location, we were welcomed by a member off staff who was very helpful, and allocated a good sized pitch. The railway station is only a minutes walk from the site and the Grouse inn pub is five minutes walk away both are next to the River Dee. The only negative comment would be the two portacabin loos and the two breeze block toilets were not as good as other sites. Which are housed in a large barn.

A nice site with two large flat fields and plenty of space. We chose the field without the electric hook up, which was near the river and had lots of room for the children to run around. A great view of the steam railway was a bonus.
From here it was a little walk to the main facilities but that wasn't a problem - it just depends on your taste. Would certainly consider returning and the price was good.

An excellent campsite with outstanding toilet and shower facilities. We were welcomed by a young couple with a baby, who worked hard all weekend to keep the campsite litter free and all the facilities very clean.
There was free hot water in the showers and a good sheltered washing up area. The camping field is flat and was very dry, despite plenty of rain in the days before we arrived. The camping field is big enough to accommodate families, walking groups and those touring the area and had plenty of space to spread out and for children to play.
The pub is only 300 metres away and serves good food and real ales. Campsite and pub are highly recommended.

This was our first visit to this site and I loved it. Beautiful location right next to the river Dee and the Carrog train station, the site is just nicely situated in a lovely valley so the scenery is nice to wake up to in the morning. Only 7 miles away from Llangollen which we got to on the local bus service and this only cost us £5 for a return ticket. You can of course use the train which stops just right next to the camp site, there is a small pub just up the road which serves nice food and it has a lovely seating area outside so you can enjoy the scenery while you eat your meal. Now the niggles I didn`t like the toilet facilities on the main field, this was a sort of a porta cabin type toilet and even though it was cleaned on a regular basis there was no hot water. I might be wrong but when I went to wash my hands there was only one tap on it which supplied cold? Wasps and midgies :( We were plagued by them all weekend so take some sort of repellent if you plan to go. All in all a very nice site and we will be going back.

This is our second stay at this site (we also stayed a weekend in December 2014). Lovely quiet site in a great location - next to the River Dee and right by the Llangollen steam railway. In fact, the campsite is right next door to Carrog station.
There are only a few toilets on site and a handful of showers but the block that they are sited in is very clean. Unheated though, so cold in the winter!
The owners were very friendly and helpful.
No on-site shop. Carrog is a very small village but does have a lovely pub that does good food and has a nice outside eating area.
Our only negative point was that the grey waste was very difficult to access to empty our motorhome direct into the grey waste drain.

A friendly campsite with well-looked after facilities housed in an old farm barn. Hot water on demand, and everything very clean and well-maintained.
The owners live in the farm house next door to the site, and are easily contactable by mobile phone if they're not in when you arrive.
There isn't any heating for the showers or toilets, although two toilets with wash basins are housed in an insulated 'shipping container' which do have gentle heating (but not recommended for use by children because of the door locks). Showers were warm enough in near-freezing outside temperatures, although the floor was a bit cold underfoot.
A shortish walk along a minor road takes you to the Grouse Inn on the other side of the river, where a warm welcome and good pub food awaits (including a good children's menu).
The location, off the A5, is very handy for touring, but the campsite is quiet. Plenty of space with electric hookups in mid-February. We will need to return to try out the steam railway in the summer!

What a fantastic site. The scenery is beautiful, the site is clean, tidy and well organised and as previous reviewers have mentioned, the food at the pub is out of this world. The shower facility looked a new addition and were very clean with plenty of free hot water. We only stayed one night, but will return when we are next in Wales
