My family and I loved this site, as there is plenty of room, it's nice and level, quiet and the toilet and shower facilities were great. The toilets were always cleaned and stocked with loo paper, I noticed, and it's in a nice location. We would stay here again, although we'll avoid putting the postcode into the Sat nav as we ended up somewhere else! Probable best to go via Corwen as Carrog is only 3 miles up the road.

Great site in a beautiful place. The owner spends a great deal of time cleaning and clearing and the loos were usually clean and well stocked. Well designed and free showers (lots of hooks) including disabled access, and good enough loos. These are in a huge barn - not separated for men/women. The only small frustration was the lack of basins separate from the loos - so tooth brushing and shaving meant that loos were occupied. This was occasionally a problem on a busy weekend. Shame that the recent refurbishment did not include a few separate sinks as there is lots of room there.
Lovely location, amazing views and proximity to Carrog steam station. We took bikes along a back road - lovely path - and had a delightful time in Llangollen and surrounding Welsh countryside.
Good value, with hard standing and grass option as well as less 'organised' grass pitches, and wooden cabins. Wifi pretty good which was a real bonus.

This was our first visit to this site, chosen due to reviews and price and locality for going to 'Day out with Thomas' on the railway close by and at Llangollen.
On our arrival we found the office shut. But a telephone number provided and the young man running the site appeared as soon as he saw us waiting as he was cutting the grass on site. He was very helpful explaining where everything was and providing site rules, we wanted a pitch close to the toilets and he was happy to re-locate us. The toilet and shower facilities were always clean and tidy, and I regularly saw the owner around cleaning them and checking on the bins - they encourage recycling but most people didn't seem to bother so he was sorting the rubbish.
The washing up facilities were a cold water sink outside or one with hot water inside - this was helpful as the barn provided a safe place for children to run around whilst they waited for you (something I had issue with at a previous campsite)
Carrog station is literally across a fairly quiet road, and they are extending the line to go past the campsite, as it is a tourist line the trains stop at 5ish.
The campsite is quiet, and promotes itself as a family campsite, on the whole people abided by the 10pm curfew however the tent next to us did not and it wasn't enforced. But we enjoyed our stay and our son was able to run around safely on the site.
Following a previous review, we had no issues with keeping things dry in the showers, there are shower curtains, hooks and a bench in there. But if you are tall the showers are at a fixed height and you may have to bend.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back again to stay in future

Lovely peaceful location, washing facilities were clean & tidy, the staff were very friendly, and the food in the pub up the road (The Grouse) was very good. Spent a day in Llangollen - the little 'un loved paddling in the river and playing in the children's outdoor play area. Disappointed not to see the inquisitive bullocks in the nearby field (as mentioned by a previous reviewer), but this did not make our stay any less enjoyable. Would whole-heartedly recommend this site to anyone who wants to relax in the fantastic Welsh countryside.

I have just read the previous review and wholeheartedly agree with them. A very good site with very good owners who were extremely helpful. Mike is one of the owners who worked on reception at the time we were there. Good luck for the future. A very reasonably priced site at £15 per night including electric.

2nd May to 6th May 2014 [Bank Holiday Weekend. ]
On arrival at the Site, I received a warm and friendly greeting of the young man manning the Reception. Who on booking me in, fully explained where the facilities were.
I was stopping with a mixed party of Tents, Caravans, Motor Home, and my Folding Camper [14 units in total ], we were put in the small field off the Main side of the site. This has a slightly tight turn for caravans, but was easily made.
The field had a slight slope to it, so more awkward for tents, The Main part of the Site, and the huge Rally Field on the other side of the road, being flat.
The web page when we booked, stated no Showers. However 3 New Showers have been added, which are free.
There are 2 toilets with Hot Water, and 2 with just cold water, all toilets kept well supplied with toilet roll and a towel for drying hands. The toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean, and could not be faulted.
The 2 toilets with just cold water, were huge rooms, plenty of room for a parent and one or more children.
The site itself is kept in immaculate condition.
The group I stayed with, are looking for a Camp Site, able to accommodate 150-200 mixed units.
And after having taken the time to make a inspection of the rally field, this site is high on their list.
The Rally field has a portable toilet block, which is permanently connected into the mains, and again on inspection was found to be immaculate.
The Site backs on to the Llangollen Steam Railway, and the Rally field backs on to Carrog Station. Trains do not run until 10:00 [10am] and finish at 17:00 [5pm] so do not create any disturbance. The Main side, backs on to the Line extension to Corwen, this section of the line is due to open in 2014.
The line is a perfect day out for a family to Llangollen.
We had a young man who was celebrating his 8th birthday. And on the Sunday, due to the special crew on the Late train from Carrog, we managed to not only get him but a number of our party on to the foot plate. A experience they will never forget.
The field we were staying on, was right next to one of the farm field [given that this is a Farm Camping Site] and given that several had dogs with them, we several times, had a audience of young bullocks at the fence line.
There is a pub who serves food, a 2 minute walk in Carrog, and a Tea Room at Carrog station, a 10 second walk away.
Nearest supermarket is in Corwen a couple of minutes drive down the A5.
Llangollen is just 7 miles down the A5 in the other direction.
Overall the only niggle I had with the site, was the difficulty in keeping things dry in the shower, hence the 9/10. Other than that, it is a site, I'm happy to re visit in the future.

Spent a fabulous (but cold) weekend at this site with the Camping Club UK. The site was very pleasant with a breath-taking backdrop of hills and trees. Site Manager was friendly and helpful. The site is split into two halves separated by a road, we stayed in the rally field. Both sides have toilets which were clean and well stocked. There are now new showers in the barn next to the site office.
We paid £16 per night for a large 8 man tent with 2 adults and 2 children (10 & 13) bit with no EHU.
The site doesn't have a playground but there was plenty of room for football and rounders etc.
In the rally field it was nice to watch the steam trains from the chairs outside our tent.
We enjoyed a nice drink in the Grouse Inn which was a very short walk over the bridge around the corner, The view from the terrace was lovely.
The site had no shop but the tearoom at the station sold drinks and snacks. There is a small shop in the garage at the top of the road.
We took the train from Carrog to Llangollen and paid £30 for a family of four return. We had great afternoon wandering around following the suggested map trail, looking at the museum and the town hall. The homemade fudge was amazing and we enjoyed a warm welsh cake.
Would definitely return again and indeed plan on doing so later this year.

Lovely Site Excellent Pub just over the bridge 2 minutes walk from site did nice food too. And a beautiful little station if your into trains on the doorstep. When we were there, there was high winds and the site manager made it clear that we were not to worry, if we could not vacate due to winds, as he would allow us to go back for the Van at a later date as luck has it it was not necessary to take up his offer but nice that it was there

Fantastic location, toilets clean and tidy, there are no showers on the site. Only down side was the pricing structure, there were 3 of us with 2 motorbikes and 3 small tents as their pricing structure is £10.00 per tent, hence £30.00 for the 3 of us, if we had all shared a tent it would have been £10.00 in total. Perhaps something the site could address in the future. I think £30.00 for 3 people considering there are no showers a little over the top.
There is a pub 300 metres away that serves good beer and pub food.

Stayed here one week of absolutely perfect weather. The site was clean well kept and regularly monitored by the owners.
The main site with electric hookups is on the opposite side of the road to Carrog Station. It has hardstandings and a shop situated in the owners on site caravan. Being out of the main school holidays the shop was rarely open. The larger site without hookups is opposite, adjacent to the railway station, this seemed to be used mainly for rallies and basic camping.
The local pub is excellent and at 300 yds easily walkable. The steam railway to Llangollen is an ideal way to visit without the problems of parking.
Llangollen is almost exclusively a tourist spot, there are food provision shops but few and far between. The more practical place for local shopping is Corwen, about two miles from Carrog.
The toilet facilities are in the corner of an open barn, or in the field opposite a mobile toilet unit which we did not use. The toilets are clean adequate and basic. When the site is full they may be very busy.
Overall an excellent site for campers who do not require showers.
