This is a nice Forest Campsite set in the heart of Rendlesham Forest.
Pitches are a good size and fairly level. Most pitches have electric Hook-up. There is a shop for basics, Calor Gas and Camping Gaz, I don't know when the shop closes but we arrived just after 6 on friday and it was still open then.
There is a daily newspaper delivery.
Toilets and shower blocks were clean when we used them, there is a 50p charge for the showers. We found it best to hit the showers either very early or very late to avoid queues.
There is also a disabled shower and Loo.
Hot water & Washing-up sinks are available
There is a laundry room but we didn't use this.
We went for the weekend Friday and Saturday night, 3 Adults and one 16 year old who was charged as a child and this cost us £50 (High season)for an extra £1 a day you can hire a wooden picnic bench.
This is a great site for families, several walks (including the UFO trail) and bike trails. The forest centre next door has a bike park for older kids, there is also an adventure play area.
As I say a great site for families, not so great if you want peace and quiet, early nights and late mornings.
The staff we met were very friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely weekend and will definitely return.

This was my first camping trip in over 20 years -i went with my two boys (8&3) and stayed in a trailer tent with a friend and her two boys (9&7). The pitch was large with plenty of room for two cars. The site was level and dry. We backed onto the forest which was a great play ground for the four boys.
The facilities were basic but long hot showers (lasted long enough for both boys to share) so didn't mind the 50p charge. Had to queue for 7pm shower but only for 5 mins. Facilities cleaned daily. Plenty of loo roll / handwash / paper towels.
Friendly staff. Some queues for pot washing but only a couple of minutes. The site was full and there was some noise caused by the outdoor Shakespeare theatre in the adjoining forest clearing but nothing too bad.
The forest centre next door has great adventure play for older children (5+) and lots of great walks. There is a adventure play on site for the under-8yr olds. On-site shop stocks most basics plus everyday items. Free freezer for ice blocks.
Lots of electric hook ups. Laundry room on site (but we didn't use this so can't comment - always looked well used & tidy). Quiet in the evenings and until about 8am. I will be happy to return and have now bought a family tent!

Our family of four (2 adults and two girls aged 9yrs and 6 yrs) have just returned from this quiet, peaceful family friendly site in the middle of Rendlesham Forest.
The site itself is surrounded by the forest with good sized pitches with a central area for ball games etc which was ideal for families of all ages.
It has a small basic shop and free freezer units to be used for ice packs.
The staff we encountered on arrival were always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
We had a 6 berth tent to pitch - the ground was soft and kind of sandy so easy to put our tent up but be aware the sandy earth you pitch on gets everywhere ! so take a dustpan and broom.
The showers had good water pressure and were nice and warm. (50p for 5 mins shower)
The toilet block (which is a portable cabin) as a whole was clean and tidy but unfortunately we feel it is in desperate need of a refurbishment as very dated - the ladies needs to be larger especially at the sink area.
There was no coin slot hairdryer available also which was disappointing.
Good sized washing up area - no problems.
Despite disappointing toilet / shower block we would return as kids loved the freedom in the woods and made lots of friends but hope this site gets a toilet / shower refurbishment soon !
All in all a fantastic country break for us townies !

We have been to this site many times in the past but never again until things change. In more than 10 years of camping we have never been to such a noisy site this time round. The toilet and showers are showing their age now and that would not matter if they were kept clean.
This site has a lovely location and ideal for children
Such a shame.

Stayed on this site in a pitch with hook up for 2 nights in June 2010. Site set in an idyllic location, ideal for cycling and walking in the forest. Woken in the night by the sound of nightingales singing for hours!
Fantastic site for children with communal game of rounders ongoing for much of our visit.
Shower block fairly basic but sufficient for a short visit.
Only problem with our pitch was we found we were ontop of an ants nest and we were infested! Not ideal however we would certainly visit again.

We stayed for 2 nights over a weekend in September. The site was busy and close to full both nights.
The pitch was somewhat narrow to fit a car alongside tent, but had plenty of depth and backed onto the forest.
The showers and toilets were spotless, and despite other reviews reports - 50p/5m shower seemed plenty of time and often left you standing with extra time waiting for it to turn off. They were nice and warm too.
The local area was lovely with good food to be had in Aldeburgh (fish'n'chips) and Orford at the Orford-Butley Oysterage.
Noise from kids particularly on Friday was loud past 10pm and a bit disruptive to a nice evening, but this seemed largely due to a group booking / parents letting their kids run riot.
Overall, I'd recommend the site, particularly during quieter periods.

Just had a long weekend at this campsite. The site itself was very dry & brown but the pitches were quite a decent size and well spaced. Good area in centre for football/cricket, etc
Showers were hot (echo previous comments about 50ps) but all facilities are starting to look like they need a refurbishment.
Slightly upset to be told at 9.30 on a Saturday to turn off our very quiet music.
Shop on site that stocks basics, but doesn't open before 9am or after 5pm and there aren't any shops unless you go to Woodbridge or Orford. Man comes round every morning selling papers.
Great location right next to the forest centre makes up for minor shortcomings. Reasonable priced bike hire close by & good bike park for older children.

We stayed here for a night before the Latitude festival.
Clean toilets and showers, clean laundry facilities.Fair sized pitch.Located in the middle of forest.
The showers were 50p for less than 5 mins which was irritating. The laundry was £2 for washing machine and £1 per 30 mins of the dryer.
The site itself was £15 for 2 adults per night.
The site was a bit threadbare and dried out with a lot of ants.
Despite arriving early and returning from a day out early afternoon there was no site of the warden and the shop remained closed.
The other campers were friendly and quiet but the site was full around the outer edges and camping in the centre gave little privacy.
No pub in walking distance but one 10mins drive away.
The local area 5 mins away from the forest is beautiful farmland and near Southwold and many local beauty spots/shops.
Despite having useful facilities it did not have the unspoilt and idyllic atmosphere that you find the minute you explore the local area.
The staff member we did meet removing change from the showers was unhelpful.

I just have to say we visited this campsite last weekend and what a lovely relaxed site it is too, we will definitely be returning in the future.
We took our dog with us for the first time and he absolutely loved it, the forest is all around and such beautiful scenery, we had some lovely walks with him that just went on for miles and miles.
We went with friends who also had a dog and kids and pitched right next to them.
Huge pitches that I have to say were great. My only moan would be to say that the showers did get rather hot and it was pain having to keep opening the door to insert another 50p if it ran out whilst you were still washing.
Great place for the kids they loved the freedom and most evenings there were enough kids on site to play either football or cricket in the middle of the field.
Like I said we will definitely be back as soon as possible.

We visited Rendlesham twice in early 2009 and on both occasions had a lovely relaxing time. The only issue I had was with their bizarre booking programme.
If it looks like a weekend could be popular they only let you book 5 days minimum! So when we arranged a family get together it became 'popular' so the slower members of the family ended up staying elsewhere! This may be normal for some but it's nothing I've ever come across before.
The play areas are great for kids and it's a short walk to the main Rendlesham area with their new play areas (fun for all) There's also a permanent orienteering course.
