Excellent campsite if you want to get away from it. A great location in the beautiful forest, so ideal for walking/cycling activities. The site has fine facilities, including a shop. We weren't charged any extra for using the hook-up. For a pound a day you can hire picnic benches, which is a great idea. Nice and large pitches, too. Will certainly be coming here again.

11-13 August. Very very wet weather! Stayed here twice before this year. Considering the inclement conditions the toilets were as clean as on other visits. Did not visit the showers on this occasion but know there is a charge for 3 mins of water. Alot of people were packing up early to come home. This visit though, was the noisiest in terms of children screaming and playing till way after midnight, that I've known here before. Lots of tents mixed in with the caravans and lots of space in between for cars, gazebo's, awnings etc. A lovely playground for children and safe road for kids on the bikes. Newspapers are delivered Sat and Sun mornings by a couple driving round the site in their car, only a 7p surcharge. All in all a lovely site but the weather makes it as there is no clubhouse or restaurant / pub adjacent.

I stayed here in august ,the kids love this site as we have been before. It's a very busy site which means it gets a bit noisy, but the forest makes up for it with lots of walks and cycling routes which seem to go on forever, but be careful not to get lost .The tents get put in the middle so it can look like a rock festival there is that many. The shop is a bit hit and miss but keeps some good items i,e bread milk etc. they also stock ,toys ,fishing creels and nets at good prices. Dogs are welcome and we were made very welcome. The only thing that I found annoying turbo swing ball outside my caravan ,good game but not at 9.30 at night as its to noisy ,maybe games would be better in the middle of the site where there are fewer campers. Anyway all in all a very good site well run as the owner is on site and will help with anything, also wooden pick nick tables are on hire ,we hope to go again next year all being well.

General impression of this site is very favourable. As most other reviewers have pointed out, facilities are quite basic, but we had no problems. Make sure you have a good supply of 50p coins, though! The people who run the place are very nice and extremely helpful. Shop stocks most essentials. Picnic table hire at £1.00 per day is a bargain! The bike hire guy is based in Snape, and you need to ring him to reserve a bike for the next day, or pop over to his kiosk in the forest car park. He only brings enough bikes for the advance bookings. Cannot recommend the forest bike routes enough, but make sure you pick up a map and take a compass, as diversions are common because it's a working forest. A terrific site for kids and a beautiful setting.

Visited this site with my family during may bank holiday on recommendations. Level site where you camp around the edge of large field. Children loved the woods where dens already built for them to add to. Wonderful cycle routes around and about. Pitches rather close together and toilets and showers were a bit of a let down. Showers were out of action for most of the weekend and even then when they did work hot for 1st min, cold for the next 3 min and then a trickle for the last min. Plus you had to pay for the experience! They were also not cleaned properly (woman mopping floor with dirty bucket of water around the centre of the floor of shower block, once a day) and run out of soap in the toilets by the sun (yuk!). Not enough facilities really for bank holiday w/e. Very noisy at night due to close proximity to other tents. would return again but not a bank holiday weekend. By the time we left, the place looked quite tranquil!

August 2005 Just got back from a weekend here, site not too bad, set in lovely woodlands, the only downside is the kids running riot until late at night and pitches are all jumbled up. Nearby orford has a wonderful castle and nice pubs. Shop is stocked with essentials and staff helpful.

August 2005 Just got back from a 2 night stay. The site is nice, but as others have said the toilets could do with being cleaned more regularly. Washing up facilities and shop were adequate but it would be best to take what you want with you and not rely upon the shop. Will visit again next year.

July 2005 A gem of a site! We’ve just got back from a week-end there and will definitely revisit in the future – hopefully for longer. I can’t really add that much more to what the other boarders have posted.
It’s a campers’ site. A good mix of tents, caravans and camper vans. There appear to be no permanent pitches or “trailers for rent” and the tour companies most definitely do not have a foot hold here.
We took our teenagers and a couple of their friends and their bikes. They had a good time too and that age is so difficult please without TV computers and shops!
Toilets, showers and shop are basic but adequate and clean. Could do with more wash up facilities but I suppose it was a busy warm July week- end.
On the way to Woodbridge is a village called Melton where the rail station has been taken over by the Five Winds Farm Butchers and Smokehouse. This is a foodies paradise with a huge selection of pre-marinaded meats for the barbeque. If you like McDonalds, this place is not for you as this place serves real meat with flavour!

May 2005 Just got back from a Spring Bank Holiday stay at Tangham. The whole group had a good time and the kids loved the woods where they had great fun building dens.
The site is great if you are a cyclist or walker as you are surrounded by woods on all sides. There are marked routes or you can head off to some of the surrounding pubs and villages. Would recommend a trip to the Ramsholt Arms. Wile the adults sip the local beer, the kids enjoyed crabbing from the quay! Steer clear of the pub in Shottisham. They could do with a course in Customer Care!!!
Our only quibble about the site was that the showers could have done with cleaning more often and there was sometimes a wait. This is our second time there and will probably visit again sometime. Book early, it is very popular.

September 2004 We went for the weekend. It was lovely, we all enjoyed it, adults and children alike. I felt the only thing that let it down were the toilets and showers. They could have been cleaner. But that did not mar our weekend and we will definately be returning.
