I have just come back home after spending 3 nights at this campsite. Unfortunately, although it is in a beautiful area of the UK there were things that spoilt my holiday. My 2 young girls were really excited that there was a pool on site, it was a shame that both of them cut their feet on the tiles on the bottom of the pool. There was also tissues and plastic bottles floating around the pool. When we booked we were informed that as we were with two other couples with young children we would have to pay a noise deposit of £40. Unfortunately this did not seem to deter approximately 12+ twenty somethings from keeping us awake until 2. 30 in the morning. The campsite managers did nothing to stop this and it went on for the 3 nights.
On a positive note there was always toilet roll in the loos and the showers, although not very hot were ok.
Shame really as the site has a lot to offer. The shop was ok and had the essentials at not a bad price but the prices of pitch extras such as windbreaks and gazebos were ridiculous as they wanted an extra £4 for a windbreak per night. Not one of the cheapest sites and for the money you expect to not have to put up with young singles!

Have just returned from two night visit to this site which has been quite a disappointment really.
I was initially pleased with the pitches which did have an element of privacy although sadly also an air of neglect with overgrown grass etc.
The site was busy with lots of tents which were a bit noisy until quite late at night.
The toilet block seemed quite clean when we arrived on the Friday evening but were in need of a clean by the Saturday morning, by Saturday evening they were filthy and by Sunday morning they were revolting with no loo roll apart from what was rolling around the floor and somebody even thought it was okay to take a dog in there!
The area itself was lovely with nice walks and Clitheroe itself was fantastic for a potter.
Shall definitely visit this area again but a different site - a real shame because for the sake of some cleaning it could have been a totally different experience.

Our first time camping since the kids were little. Our friends booked us on this as we thought you just rolled up and booked on campsites, obviously we are not up to date!
Facilities were very clean and easy to access, the shop was basic but had everything we needed and when we bought a spanner that didn't fit they gave us a refund with a smile. Pub/club again basic but that is what we personally want, prices for beer/wine/spirits much the same as any pub a nice touch was a little charity shop that sold things in aid of cancer research and had books and things. Shower/toilets very clean, water hot and plenty of space. A bit of an argument over a dog early in the morning, perhaps they could split the fields into adults, families and those with pets? Surrounding area very nice and quiet and a Tesco not too far away. Would certainly use again and recommend to others. My only gripe would be the price, but this could be that we are out of touch?

Only stayed the 1 night, but have to say what a lovely campsite. Our party consisted of myself, my mum and my 2 children aged 6 and 11. The website states they have a minimum of 2 nights, but we only stayed 1 night and noticed a fair few other doing the same.
Office staff were very helpful, and check in was quick. We pitched next to the hard standing pitches as it was near 1 of the play areas for the kids. The kids loved the play area, and making dens in the trees.
There's a bar, swimming pool, and shop which I cant comment on as we didn't go in them, but had a nosey and all seemed fine. Toilets/shower blocks were ok, no problems with any of the facilities. You gain entrance by a fob key which you pay a £10 deposit, and get back when you hand fob in when you leave, and there was a laundry room.
The campsite didn't seem overcrowded at all, and pitches seemed ok. We were just unfortunate that it was throwing it down when we decided to go, which resulted in lots of mud. The only person who liked the mud was my 6 year old who made mud pies with her new friends. We will definitely be returning to this site, very easy to find from the road.
The village looks lovely, would recommend this campsite.

Paid £40 for two nights for a four man tent. After reading some of the reviews decided to take the plunge and decide for myself. I thought this was a lovely site.
Play areas for the children to play a swimming pool although this is only open certain times a day it costs extra and its not staffed, shop on site although you need to go reception to get someone to open this but cant comment on the shop as I didn't require it.
There is a family room in the bar I did visit for a hour but as its not really peak season it was quite empty, could do with a upgrade as it dose look a little tired and old but it was clean and the bar staff friendly.
The pitches were a good size there is a curfew for noise at 10pm the majority did obey this but you always get one that doesn't!
The shower block was clean and saw the lady cleaning them a few times. You enter using a fob which is 10 deposit that's returned when you return the key.
The showers had a bench inside to store your dry things when you shower. The showers were warm and does the job, but when I turned it on seemed to squirt the opposite way to where I was standing and the sealing on the floor round the shower could do with re-doing, as there was a lot of water on the floor due to this, but not a problem as you can keep your clothes on the bench.
Washing up areas there were three sinks which are push down taps quite hard to try wash up with the tap keep going off, but handy I had my daughter to keep pushing the tap. The sink areas were not very clean had to clean it my self before I used it each time
There is a laundry room although I didn't use it. My overall view off this site is that its a lovely site family atmosphere but probably wouldn't go in the holidays, as don't think there is enough sinks or showers to cope with too many but yes I will be returning!

After reading some of the reviews of this campsite we were expecting to arrive to find a dirty rundown site, however some friends had booked the site for us to meet them there and so we were pleasantly surprised after arriving to find the site tidy with the grass around the hardstandings mown and no dogs mess. The site was only about half full so perhaps this made a difference. The showers and toilets were reasonably clean and there was plenty of hot water and no queues. I can understand the ten pounds deposit for the fob to use the toilets and showers as these are expensive to replace and with that amount of deposit you really do look after them. We had no need to use the shop or club as we were only there for the weekend so I can't comment on them.
The hardstandings were fairly large and the electric didn't trip out as I was expecting after reading previous comments. The tent area was fairly full but we weren't disturbed by any noise from them, most of them seemed to have children with them so any noise by them would have kept their own children awake. This area is great walking country and Clitheroe is well worth a visit. Check out the Emporium for food. Perhaps this site is not in my top five but after this visit I would certainly return to it.

Firstly in my defence I would point out that I am always an optimist but Three Rivers is probably the worst caravan park I have visited. Yes we may have been spoilt by some of the other sites I have reviewed on here but Three Rivers got even the basics wrong.
We lived locally and had taken delivery of a new van a few days earlier so we decided to have a local break just to make sure everything on the caravan was working properly.
On arrival, no barrier, zero security and you were pointed in the ‘general direction’ of where you may find a pitch!
The road was gravel with grass growing through it, and dog mess everywhere, but we negotiated the track, drove under some trees that brushed the car and caravan side and top as they had not been cut back and found a pitch.
We set up and had a quiet evening and settled down for the night only to be awoken at 12 midnight by music blasting out from the tented area! This went on until 3am and there was no sign of any wardens, in fact in the whole time we were there we only ever saw a receptionist.
In the morning I took my do for a walk and had to pick him up as two ‘hoodies’ in an adjacent van had a dangerous dog each and both dogs were snarling and pulling on their leads.
We went into Clitheroe and when we returned there was dog mess all over the area where we had to park and on closer inspection I found cigarette butts, nails and glass (so much for general housekeeping by the owners). The local police also paid the site a visit at one stage, goodness knows what was going on!
We sat out in the afternoon sun and there were groups of unsupervised youngsters playing football around the caravans and in the playground despite the fact the site asked the children be supervised. Then again there were as I said earlier no staff on duty. The playground had abusive graffiti scrawled on a sign about a local football team and to cap it all the couple in the next caravan were smoking cannabis all afternoon in front of their children. I understand that the site can’t be blamed for this but thought it important to build up a picture for fellow caravan users who may be tempted to visit Three Rivers.
The shower block was a joke. The shower heads sprayed water in every direction and some of the showers actually lacked sprays so the water just came out in a line.
In the time we were there the shower blocks were never cleaned, neither were the handbasins and toilet areas.
The wastewater areas were disgusting as the grids were blocked with food and the flies were swarming. The area to empty the chemical toilet wasn’t very clean either without going into too much detail.
It wasn’t cheap either, and I can honestly say if this was the only site left to camp at I would sell my caravan rather than revisit.

Booked onto this site at the last minute for a few nights away not too far from home.
This is the first site we have stayed on for a while that doesn't have numbered pitches and it reminded us how good an idea that is. We had booked an electric hook up but just had to find enough space to pitch up near to a free one (which did mean being closer to the rubbish area that we would have liked). Having said that, everyone seemed quite friendly and there was just enough space near us for the children to play.
The toilets were basic but clean enough, especially considering the number of people on site at the time. Didn't try out the showers, more hassle than it's worth for only a night or two with two small children.
There is a play area but our kids are 2 and 4 and it is designed for older children. Lots of other small children on site and they managed to keep themselves entertained.
Despite a little bit of noise when the clubhouse/pub closed the site was pleasantly quiet from 10 o'clock onwards. Again, considering the numbers on site, this was a nice surprise.
The only disappointing thing really was the shop, very little on sale and we discovered on trying to buy a paper in the morning that you had to order one the night before.
All in all, not a bad weekend.

Found the camp to be very basic, there not much for children to do, I think this site would suit couples with no children or people older who just want a relaxing quiet holiday
Shop wass mostly shut and and stocked very basic things (does not sell cigs so if you smoke take them with you as it is quite a way to the shops). The cafe also has very odd hours of opening, it was not open at tea time but the food served there was very well priced
The family club was not open all day and there was not entertainment every night, entertainment room is 6 bandits and 2 pool tables. Swimming pool looked very clean although a bit pricey (1 adult 2 children was 7 pounds) also that wasn't open all day
Toilets you need to leave a 10 pound deposit which you get back when you leave, they were very smelly but were clean, the showers I did not use as the shower heads had a build up of some description so didn't look too clean
Tent pitches were great plenty of room, soft ground for tent pegs and sheltered by trees all round. Staff very nice and try to help where they can
Nearest Tesco, booths, Sainsburys is in Clitheroe, also Clitheroe castle which can pass a couple of hours on. There is also a skate park on the grounds which looks really good and a cafe and museum which costs 3.50 to get in for adults and is free for kids.

Well, we went to Three Rivers in our caravan from the 11th to the 13th September 2009 as it was one of only a handful of site that had any vacancies. When we arrived we went to park up on the hard standing pitches, but as we got out of the car, we was greeted by the foul smell of dog mess. Now this was a warm weekend and there was a dog walking area near-by, but it was all over the hard standing site. The pitches were roomy, but not very level for hard standing and the 6amp electric was not very suitable. The children's play area wa in dire need of some maintenance. The swimming pool chlorine levels were way too high, we all left coughing and with red eyes. The 'scum' line around the jacuzzi was disgusting. The shower in the changing room was blocked with hair, so the water level never went down. You were standing in everybody else's dirty water. Basically, they seemed understaffed, there was no gardening maintenance, a simple strimmer around the park would tidy it up. It has the potential of being a top class site, good toilets and showers, bar and family lounge and most of all, it's in a cracking location surrounded by some of the county's best countryside. I hope they take heed and have a bit of pride on the touring park as the residential side of the park looks immaculate.
