After camping for many years our family decided to buy a caravan. After trying out different sites there was always something missing. The instant we arrived to look around at Mary's we felt like we had come home. The couple who run the site are wonderful caring people who make it their business to ensure all your needs are met whether it's making sure the shop is stocked with any personal requirements, to ensuring the site is kept spotless and to a high standard. The wash area always smells clean and as if just cleaned they always have the time to talk even when they're busy. You never feel as if anything is too much trouble. They always give good advice ie best places to get fish and chips or Chinese takeaway, we tried both and agree with there recommendations. Our three little children love our new base and hate to go home. The park, table tennis, football area are just some of the things to keep your little ones entertained. Also little bus that picks you up over weekend and will take you for a night out at one of Lyons sites and pick you up and bring you home ! I say home because there is a genuine feeling of home. We hope at Mary's will be our second home for many years to come

We are new to this site but I am a believer in first impressions and we are more than well impressed with the site itself. Very well kept clean and tidy. Very well looked after grounds and facilities. But above all the staff working at the site are absolutely fantastic, so helpful, friendly, more than accommodating, nothing is too much trouble and they are so welcoming it made our move here very easy. Lovely atmosphere and our children have instantly settled in. Surrounding this fantastic location is countryside to one side and sand dunes to the other plenty of open space plenty to see and do locally and within easy reach of the site nant hall not far = fantastic talacre in the other direction it has renewed our love of caravanning. Fabulous here's to a happy future here :)

Friendly site if a little expensive for what's on offer, good wash up area and waste management and water top ups, why o why do campsites shower units never have enough room for for soaps shampoos razors etc. , not enough door hooks and nowhere to sit down to dry my feet.
A pleasant helpful lady on reception.
The lake looked ok for fishing if that's your bag.
There are a lot better sites for the money
Cheers

Management response: Dear Mr Greaves
Thank you for your recent review on ukcampsite.co.uk
We have addressed the fact that there may not be enough hooks on the back of the shower doors. Last week we added more hooks so every shower in both the ladies and gents have 4 hooks. As for the seating, the shower area is not big enough to safely place any seating.
Many thanks

Just come back from a fabulous stay here. The managers are very friendly and helpful. The site itself is open and flat. All of the facilities are spotlessly clean.
The site is conveniently on the main coast road and is between 2 brilliant beaches. There are lots of places to visit and the pub on the opposite side of the road do a really good breakfast at a very good price.
I have family nearby and will definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.
The play area is fantastic and is in a very good condition. My 6 year old spent ages playing there and made some new friends to play with. The fishing lake is good too. The views from the whole site are very good and we had a fantastic sunset on our first night,
Had fantastic time and will definitely go back. Sooner rather than later

A lovely quiet site, just right for chilling out. Good sized grass pitches, plenty of space for car and awning. At the site office the warden/owner gives you a good run down on all the rules, speed and minimum distance between caravans etc. Toilets are clean and tidy as was the wash-up area. I did find it strange that the only grey waste point is right next to the kids play area. All in all the site is merely a field with a toilet block, but very relaxing. This site would do better with a small shop as closes is about half a mile away.

Just returned from a great stay here, only booked the night before over the phone. Glad I didn't just turn up as was completely booked up when we got there. On arrival the owner went through the park rules etc and gave me our pitch number he also explained that the toilet/shower block are closed for cleaning between 11am-noon for cleaning so prepare as there is only one disabled toilet if you need the loo around that time.
Toilets/showers are the cleanest I've seen they where spotless, there is a mop and bucket left outside the shower so you can wipe it out before the next person uses it. Next to the shower block is a laundry room with washing machine and dryer also this room has 4 plug sockets ideal for hair dryers, straighteners etc, then there's the dish washing area all spotlessly clean, we had paid for electric hook up our pitch was great, close to the children's play area where we could keep a look out and watch our children from the tent. There is also a pond for fishing where we fed the ducks.
Also if you come out of the site there is a pub/restaurant just facing called the bell o st marys they do food and Sunday carvery. We came out of the site and took a right. Take the sign for presthaven sands. The road leading up to it has a lovely chip shop and family pub called the beachcomber. There is also a small amusement arcade. We also went to Talacre beach to take the children to play in the sand dunes which is left out of the site and about 10 mins in the car, Talacre has 2 pubs the lighthouse and the smugglers the lighthouse has a children's play area, nice food and also has family entertainment there are amusement arcades.
Overall a very nice clean, family friendly site in a great location to go exploring around north Wales will definitely be visiting again and again well done

Stayed for two nights, which we thought was enough. As mentioned in other reviews the facilities were very clean no complaints there. Unfortunately we did not realise that the site is alongside a busy dual carriageway which you have to cross to get to the nearby pub, do so with great care. The campsite itself is just an open field, with a play area and a fishing lake. We felt the site was very exposed and noisy due to the traffic.

Can't really add anything extra from the other commenter's about the site itself. But for anyone who's worried, although the site does not have direct access and is on a busy road, the roads down to the beach are only a few minute walk from the site gates, and the busy road has a wide grass verge, heavily walked on, on one side, and a concrete path in the other direction so you should not be overly concerned. The pub is great, but walk off your fill by finding the footpath that leads up the hill behind the pub (few minutes east along the road), very nice walk along Abbey Drive. Also a highlight was cycling/walking along the Prestatyn to Dyserth Way (converted railway line).
One other thing is don't be put out by the management seeming to be a bit harsh about driving speeds on site. They gave me a strong warning on arrival, and later on one of the staff castigated another camper on the last morning 'well we're just leaving' that isn't the point!
I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Have just returned from a three night break and felt the site deserved updated reviews.
Site is a quiet site and well maintained.
Pitches are grass and sizes were good.
Dogs were welcome and a large dog walking area was available.
Shower block and toilets are modern and spotlessly clean also laundry facilities available.
The children's play area has now been built and our 3 year grandson was the first to use it - getting him away from it was the problem he loved it as well as the other children on site.
There are a lot of changes in store for the site this year such as fishing lake and improvements have been good since reading earlier reviews.
Not a site I would recommend for the party goers as it is quiet even with children and dogs.
But a relaxing and enjoyable stay
We are planning to go back again next month.
Finally I would like to mention the staff who work on site. They made us very welcome were friendly. Always had time for a chat and went that extra mile.

Well what a little gem of a campsite this is.
Bit loathed to leave a review as too many people might start booking and they might not have room for us then!
Love campsites with caravans and tents together. Not all of us caravanners think campers should be separate. We've all camped before we've upgraded to caravans.
Site is lovely and flat. Toilets and shower block well kept and free!
Vince and Lin are lovely people and go out of their way to look after this site and make sure everyone has a great time.
There is a lovely fishing lake and brand new park for the kiddies. Carvey pub over the road within walking distance. Beach within 20-30 mins walk away. Prestatyn and Ryhl easy to get to by car or bus. Chippy within 5 mins drive. What more could you want?? We even got decent weather though I'm not sure they can take the credit for that, even though he might like to
Already booked a return visit before we left today!
