This is a very well kept campsite the best we have been to so far, the toilet and shower facilities are very clean and everything works including hot showers! free! no coins needed. Free hair dryers as well, There is also a family wash room with a shower toilet and a bath! such luxury. There are drinking water stand pipes. There is wifi but you have to pay for it. It is lacking a playground for the children there is plenty of room for one, but the fields are large enough room for ball games.
There is a very small restaurant on site bearing in mind there is a B&B, cottages and caravans, campers seemed to be treated as second class! and last on the list. The food we found to be very expensive indeed, prices on parr with first class restaurant! oh and there is not food or shop available on Sundays we were given leaflets for take out delivery services from Holyhead. There is a small shop in the office for supplies. There is also facilities to wash and dry clothes which we found very helpful due to really bad rain on the first day. The owners were polite. I must add the beach coves in the area are numerous and very close and beautiful and the kids loved them, and so many place to visit, including Stackhouse light house. Trearddur bay, The office has many leaflets for things to do. Yes we would go again.

I chose this site mainly because it was so near the Ferry Terminal ( I was off to the Killarney Bike festival) What a great welcome, I had pre- Booked. I was not expecting such a warm friendly welcome ( A Lone Biker on a Harley ) Was I surprised ! Truly a little Gem. Great welcome, Friendly faces. And A breakfast to die for. I would recommend this campsite to anyone especially fellow bikers hesding for Bike Festival or just a touring stopover.
There is a brilliant Chinese take-away Restaurant a short distance by car/bike which I alson par-took of. I was pretty wet and cold when I arrived and was pleased they had drying facilities on site Showers Superb. Wash up area great. Tent field super. All campsites should be judged against this sort of quality.

This is an excellent campsite and I would highly recommend for a peaceful break, with great sea views.
There are two toilet blocks and both are very clean, and are well above expectations with a bath and combined loo and shower cubicle which gives you loads of space!
We had our breakfast in the cafe one morning which was really nice.
The staff were all really friendly and very helpful.
This campsite is isolated, no shops or pubs are within walking distance. There are lovely walks from the campsite along the coastal path and towards South Stack. We had a great break and will definitely return.

We have been camping at Blackthorn Farm several times now, a family of four from Wolverhampton, always enjoyed it even in some rough weather. Christmas 2013 we wanted a few days away so for a change we booked the seagull cottage next to the B&B returning home early Christmas Eve. Hospitality is second to none at Blackthorn and when we arrived we were welcomed with all sorts of drinks, cookies (which the the kids loved)little touches that mean a lot. A cosy warm place with lovely fresh towels, bed sheets etc. Weather restricted us from the outdoors but never the less another superb break at Blackthorn. We will be back soon camping, weather permitting. If campings not your thing then stop at seagull cottage or the B&B you wont be disappointed. Thanks to all who work there see you soon, the Fosters xx

Just returned from a week at Blackthorn. Site and surrounding area lovely. Camping field although slightly sloping, well kept. Good size pitches and facilities, although previous reviews commented the toilets and washing up areas were spotless, we did have to request that the toilets were cleaned on the 4th day (which they were, but unfortunately the bin in the ladies toilets was still full on the day we left. ) Hand wash, and hair dryers in toilets, lots of really hot water in the washing up area, a real bonus! with a fridge/freezer and 2 plug sockets, great for phone charging/straightners. Washing machine and tumble dryer also available (only £1. 40 for a quick wash) Good size field for dogs and another for ball games.
Shop on site but did not use.
Recommend this site for a really relaxing break, great views and would return in the future.

This is just about our favourite site in the UK & one of the top three we have visited in Europe.
The site is just over 2 miles from Trearddur Bay, Holy Island, Anglesey & a similar distance from Holyhead.
The site comprises an upper field used mainly (but not exclusively) by tents & a lower field (with some hardstanding) used by motorhomes & caravans.
In between the two fields is the reception office, as well as a small shop & restaurant. The licensed restaurant is primarily for the use of B & B guests, but the owner of site, Richard, is happy for any of his guests to have breakfast or, in high season, an evening meal off a well varied menu.
Toilets & showers are of the highest standards, with a bottle of hand wash in both ladies' & gents' block.
For the children there is a well manicured & safe 'ball games' area.
Dogs are welcome on the site.
WiFi is free.
A downside to this place of perfection? Well, a car would be of assistance (or be prepared, if motorhoming, to take your van off-site) to get to the nearest stores in Trearddur or even the closest beaches. Other than this minor quibble, I would have no hesitation in recommending this site to anybody - whether tenter, caravanner, or motorhomer.

First good thing about this site is its very easy to get to. When we arrived we got a very warm welcome and was explained everything fully.
Our pitch was a good size and although not a super pitch we had our own water supply which was very useful and a nice surprise. The views were lovely and the site itself very peaceful, although full. The facilities were good, clean and plentiful. There was a small shop in the reception area which was really useful and they also did breakfasts, meals some nights and although we didn't have either we did have a cream tea which I would highly recommend.
The area was lovely with some absolutely stunning beaches and small coves.
We would not think twice about recommending this site and I'm sure we will return sometime.
The only negative about our stay was the electric was a little temperamental but once we got used to it we were fine.

Blackthorn Farm is probably the best camp site we have ever been to, the staff at the site are very friendly and welcoming with nothing being too much trouble.
The site is extremely clean and tidy with immaculate shower and toilet facilities which appear to be recently built. We never had to queue for the showers and there was lots of hot water.
The shower blocks have a fridge and a freezer and even on a bank holiday weekend there was a lot of space in them. There are also laundry facilities on site, however they are quite expensive.
We had a caravan pitch with our tent, so had access to a tap on our pitch and there was an electrical connection (which we did not use).
The views from the site are stunning looking at the coast of Holy Island. However this does mean on some days the site has strong winds blowing through. The site is a short drive from Holyhead with a 24 hour Tesco an ASDA and a Morrisons all 10 minute drive away.
The guest house has a shop and also does a cooked breakfast which is great when the weather is not so good and its reasonably priced.
We both can thoroughly recommend Blackthorn Farm and we will be coming back.

Booked this site for my partner's 40th birthday, we wanted to come to Angelsey to go scuba diving and this site was recommended by the local dive shop.
And we were not disappointed.
It is a lovely location on the headland of Holyhead, far enough away from the town itself, but near enough to drive or walk in for shopping. The only downside was the wind as the site is very exposed, but us campers are used to these things aren't we!
The owners were on holiday whilst we were there, but the people who were looking after the site couldn't have been more helpful. Our EHU cable wasn't quite long enough to reach the point, so they rummaged around for an extension. The only one he found was broken, but he was quite happy for us to try and mend it and keep it if it worked. Which it did. Saved us having to drive out somewhere the next day to buy one, but we did give it back at the end of the week in case anyone else needed it in the future.
The toilet and shower blocks are excellent, always clean, plenty of hot water (and free!) and had Radio 2 playing in them which we thought was fantastic, a real home from home feel.
We virtually had the site to ourselves for the first 4 days but then bank holiday arrived, along with loads of tenters and tourers and those that have seasonal pitches, but it didn't alter our opinion of the site. It was still quite peaceful and didn't have to queue for any of the facilities.
We didn't go into Holyhead town itself, just nipped to Asda and the dive shop so can't really comment on what the town is like. But we did have a lovely little dive at Mackenzie Pier at the old harbour.
I would highly recommend this site and we will hopefully be back at some point in the not too distant future.

We arrived on Good friday after using the Porth dafarch road from the end of the A55 at Holyhead. When using this road beware of 4 or 5 very large speed bumps as you pass between the two pubs, I managed to wreck my jockey wheel which meant a trip to Bevans in Llangefni to buy a new one.
A very warm welcome from the sites owners, lovely level pitch serviced with its own water tap and electric point and light in case you need it at night. Large pitch with plenty of room and view to die for!
The shower and toilet block are very clean with plenty of hot water. I didn't have to wait once even though the site seemed full. There seemed to be a new toilet block in the camping field but didn't inspect it to closely.
There is a small shop selling basics and you can order a breakfast for the next day as the owners run a B&B on site as well. Evening meals can also be ordered, it was fish and chips on the friday and curries, etc over the weekend.
There is a large ball game, etc field for use but a few children decided it would be better to play rugby outside our van for some reason? You can only blame the parents I suppose.
There's a lovely beach 1/2 a mile down the road, great for children, gently sloping and plenty of rock pools and access to the coastal path walk.
The nearest pub I would imagine would be in Holyhead or Trearddur Bay, we tend to eat in the van and get a bottle in if we fancy a wine but that's our choice.
South stack lighthouse is up the road and Holyhead about 1+1/2 miles away. There is also a nature park/walk near Holyhead.
All in all a lovely site and we would love to return one day soon.
