JUst returned from a weekend stay with wife on the campsite. We met in Trearrdur, Anglesey 40 odd years ago and have been visiting ever since, with caravan, trailer tent and have returned to good old 'canvas' again. The facilities are excellent, food on the Friday night was excellent (what a good idea after a long drive and setting up camp), hospitality was warm and friendly and the camping area is well kept. The communal freezer was good for coolpacks (wonderful butcher in Bodedern where we buy Welsh lamb!)We did however suffer from some very noisy neighbors who pitched much too close to us on the Saturday whilst we were out, with 4 unruly very young children. We like children, having 2 of our own but we never inflicted them on others. I'd suggest a 'quiet' zone of 3 or 4 pitches purely for couples, elderly or not. Better still mark some pitches out with varying sizes so people can select one of a suitable size. The only other comment is reference ball games which are supposed to be in a field near the gate however the rule seems to have got 'lost'. The rule was pointed out to us on arrival even though I'm 62 and my wife is. (not allowed to say!). Despite the above we did enjoy the site and its location and its certainly one of the best Anglesey sites we have visited over the years.

We stopped for 3 nights at this site and had a great time. The camping area for the tents was very good. The toilet and shower block was heated and kept to a high standard of cleanliness all the time. The washing up area was clean with hot water. The on site shop on site was reasonable priced and stocked your main requirements. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You could order a breakfast or sandwiches from the B&B on site.
Overall, this is a campsite I would definitely go back to and highly recommend.

Just returned from fantastic few days here. Weather was perfect which helped, but site was excellent. Good space between pitches on fairly flat field, easy to get pegs in. Lots of space for football etc. Extremely clean, the family wash room was a God send. Plenty of room for 4 of us, shower, WC and bath. Small shop for bread, milk etc. Unfortunately no longer do fish & chips on a Friday which we were looking forward to, but found a good one at Cemeas Bay. V friendly, will definitely be returning.

We have just arrived back from a wonderful weekend away at Blackthorn Farm. What a fantastic site with friendly welcoming staff & fantastic facilities.
Don't let the address Holyhead put you off as it is very close to a lovely seaside village Trearddur Bay and within easy access to Bangor, Caernafon and other tourist attractions and towns.
The site has a great view out to sea and access to breathtaking coastal walks and within walking distance of a beautiful secluded bay. Suggestions are welcomed by the owners on any improvements needed to the site, the only suggestion we have is larger mirrors in the mens toilets for shaving.
Would highly recommend this site.

First time at this site and we were not disappointed. Had a great weekend!
They are genuinely nice people who run this site and very helpful. Facilities are excellent and very clean, lots of hot water. Stunning views and great coastal walks, spacious pitches.
Fish and chips on Friday night in case you don't fancy cooking after your journey, and the BBQ on Saturday evening was also very good and looked forward to after a long day walking.
Thanks to Richard and his team, we will definitely return to Blackthorn Farm.

As first time campers we weren't sure what to expect and found Blackthorn Farm looked quite nice. It was in fact great! Upon our arrival we were shown around the site and everything from the area where you wash your dishes to where you shower was top notch. Showers always clean and tidy (witnessed the cleaner several times a day) water always hot with good pressure and hairdryers working too. (All free!)
Plenty of pitches to choose from with lovely views and very peaceful in the evenings. We were told it had been quite windy while we were there but we thought it was okay!
Staff we met were all very polite and couldn't do enough to help which helped to make our first camping holiday a fantastic experience.
If you love bird watching (in the breeding season) or rambling this would be a superb place to visit with south stacks very close to this site. Some attractive beaches within a 5 minute drive too.
A great, well maintained site we will definitely be visiting again in the future.

A great weekend. We were recommended this site by friends after not being able to get in anywhere for the weekend. My initial thought was that it was pricey - we're used to paying £14/5 a night per tent without hook up.
This was £25 although no charge for the gazebo. A wonderful site, well kept and great service. Showers and toilets clean. Walked to the White Eagle pub for dinner on Saturday - well worth the 5 mile walk - a superb meal.
Took advantage of the cooked breakfast available on Sunday morning - it was a fantastic full Welsh breakfast. Great weekend had by all - it would only ever be the price that may put me off returning.

Had an excellent 5 nights here in July.
Site is very well equipped, shower/toilet block is great and always clean. In the ladies there are 2 'en-suite' type cubicles with a shower loo sink and hairdryer in each. Always plenty of hot water, even after the morning rush.
Dishwashing area has two sinks with hot water, and is under cover - a bonus when it's raining!
As we didn't have EHU we were told we could pitch anywhere in a rather large field (most of which was sloping very slightly one way or another) and found ourselves with only 3 neighbours for the whole trip - lovely and quiet. The views are amazing. Plenty of walking straight from the site, plus nearby south stack provides great walks.
Will absolutely return to this lovely site (despite us only having having had 4.5 nights in the end as the tent fell down in 84mph wind!)

Plus points:
- plenty of room per pitch
- nice welcome and was shown where everything was
- good selection of leaflets and maps and an informative brochure handed out on arrival
- nice and quiet
- good location
- portable loo very handy near the tent field
Minus points:
- our pitch had old cigarette ends and used tea bags on it
- no hot water for 2 days because they hadn't checked the gas bottle were empty that heated the boiler. Only changed when I complained and even then it didn't work. Had to complain again and was told a valve hadn't popped up or something?
- electricity supply trips out if you plug more than one item in.
- some of the fixtures/fittings in the toilets/showers were broken/worn out e.G. One of the hairdryes was broken but there were others.
Overall, a good site with friendly staff and would probably stay there again as it is one of the better sites in the area.

Richard gave us a warm welcome and showed me around the facilities so I had no worries about where things were.
The site is kept lovely and there is a lovely little shop for conveniences. My daughter has special dietary needs and when choosing ice creams for us, the girl looking after the shop went out of her way to find some custard creams that we mentioned was an ok treat for her. You get the feeling that nothing is too much trouble.
Although we didn't avail on this occasion, they do fish and chips on a Friday night and, weather permitting, a BBQ on Saturday.
The toilets and showers are spotless. There is also a very useful dish washing area.
The number of tents on the field provides for an excellent size pitch with plenty of space for comfort.
Will definitely be coming back to blackthorn farm, we all had a lovely time, kids, dog and parents!
