Dennis Cove is a great site. It's well set up with a helpful owner and has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Showers are token operated, but this is standard in many sites, and prevents the facilities being used by non residents.
It's within walking distance to Padstow, with it's wide choice of Pubs and Restaurants, along the camel trail (pedestrians and bicycles only) but you need to have your wits about you when you do walk into town, as not all cyclists obey the rules of the cycle trail!

I would agree with the positive reviews made by others on this site. We went last minute and managed to get a space on the middle section of the site. The pitches are reasonably level and in my view fairly generous.
The owners were friendly helpful and the site is maintained in good order.
It is fair to say that the toilet block is dated but it was clean and there was always hot water. I suspect some of the shower units are going to need updating soon.
The site is reasonably priced we paid £93.00 for 6 nights.
As other reviewers have said it is within 10/15 minute easy walk of Padstow, which is a lovely upmarket fishing town.
We cycled the camel trail and would recommend the first hire shop on the route into padstow, cheaper than others and a friendly service. Despite very sore bottoms a great day which included a FANTASTIC cream tea on route and a great little tea room which is situated just past the vineyard. On the way back we did the wine tour and taste, good fun and very good wine.
As other reviewers have said the views from the Victoria monument on top of the hill are fantastic and worth the short walk.
This is a dog friendly site but on our visit all owners were responsible and kept the site clean.
We will definitely return.

Good campsite excellently situated for Padstow and the Camel Trail. The site is accessed down a small flat track and I would recommend booking at all times as reception is only open 9-11am and 5-7pm and hook-ups are limited. We winged it but were lucky as the owner was still around. Site was virtually full and that was in September. Site has about 50 pitches and a sloping tent field. Cost 15.50 for 2 in September so not the cheapest but if you want to be able to walk into Padstow in 5 minutes and access the Camel Trail in 2 minutes then you accept it. Showers were OK, more needed. 3 separate uni-sex showers outside were better then the one in the blocks. Cost 40p! and tokens need to be obtained from reception. Only 1 token needed each time though. From the site you walk down the hill out of the entrance and turn left by a small lake and you end up on the Camel Trail. From here turn left for Padstow (short stroll) or right to cycle to Wadebridge (5 mls) or Bodmin (11mls). Track is very flat and very much worth cycling to Bodmin if you can. It gets busy. Highlights in Padstow: Beach and coast path beyond war memorial on the hill at the far side of the harbour, Chough Bakery pasties, Rick Steins Fish and Chips 6.60 but excellent, ice cream anywhere and the London Inn down the back streets.

We arrived at Dennis Cove in disgrace with our VW leaking water up to the reception, steaming away and generally looking like a couple of hill billies!
Second breakdown of the trip. However, the chap on reception was very helpful and got us checked in to a pitch near reception quickly. Also gave us details of a couple of VW specialists in nearby Wadebridge who turned out to be fab.
The location of this site for Padstow cannot be faulted. A quick walk along the Camel trail to town. The pitch we had was of a good size and flat.
Hence we felt the price at £15.50 was reflected by the location rather than facilities which were rather dated. The 40p shower token was a bit mean really considering the initial price and the standard. The shower and toilet block were old and the washing up facilities with one hot tap to service all points a poor set up.
As mentioned we couldn't fault the location. We went to Steins fish and chip shop for dinner and thought it really was worth it. Not much dearer than take out anywhere else in the area and the standard was fab. My OH who is very fussy absolutely loved the haddock and chips.

Good site on a farm. Perhaps more suited to tents than caravans and motorhomes - entrance lane very narrow. That said the location is wonderful, easy 10 minute walk into Padstow and very close to the Camel Trail - a very big attraction.
Pitches very close to each other. Shower and loo block dated but clean and showers hot
Booking essential, also very small number of EPH
Owner friendly and welcoming
Due to summer rain may be suffering now as it was starting to be muddy in early July
Location can't be beaten

Not having stayed at this site for years, we were surprised to find it split into two: 'Dennis Cove' and 'Dennis Farm' (tent only) have the same postcode and entrances side by side, so are easily confused. Reception was friendly and very helpful when we telephoned our booking at short notice - no deposit required because they don't accept credit cards! Our pitch was a good size, though after rain the access into the field was deep mud. The showers are certainly a weak point here, quite apart from their 40p tokens. The men's are very cramped; the three unisex outside are fine, but in constant use. Which site has the better location? Dennis Farm is right next to the estuary, with a slip to a small beach; whereas Dennis Cove has an upper field, accessed by steps, with a tremendous view over Padstow, Rock, and the wide sandy estuary. Flying a kite there in the setting sun was sheer magic!

Lovely friendly site just 10 minutes walk from padstow along the camel trail. Small quiet site with a good range of facilities. Confusing shower token system where you purchase tokens at reception at 40p and when you get to the showers you insert the token into the machine outside of the shower. Just make sure you buy enough at one time. The shower I used was bust as I had to hold up the hot water switch but that was probably just my bad luck.
The campsite is very popular as its location is brilliant. The owner was very helpful and chatty. This campsite is one to visit again but I would definitely book in advance. Cost me and my partner about £15 per night for a small tent.

We stayed here as it is within easy walking distance of Padstow (never been before) and easy driving distance to Tintagel.
The pitch area is well manicured, lots of grass (which was great and a review about that below) but it is on a slope. We woke up several times and had to readjust the bed but not a bad thing. The pitches are close so do be aware of that.
We are not a noisy couple but do like to stay up and chat and play cards or Scrabble but the site was completely quiet at 10.30pm and even if you whispered you could hear your neighbour. You could also hear them snoring (as I'm sure others heard us as well). Seriously, way too close together for us.
The showers were fine. They're 40p a go but lasted plenty of time - both the ones in the men's shower block as well as the two 'private' ones (these last forever and worth the 40p price but there is no sink and no mirror so you'll still need to walk to the men's block to shave and brush your teeth).
The washing up area is lacking. There is one hot tap to share and the sinks only have cold water. Not ideal for rinsing up dishes properly.
As mentioned, it is easy to walk to Padstow, a good thing for us as we stayed in the village to drink and chat since we knew the campsite would be lights out and quiet by 10.30pm (they even say on their brochure it has to be quiet at 10pm).
We don't have kids but noticed there was no play area for children. Again, I think this is a good thing as it gets kids outside to walk or cycle.
The site is dog friendly. A lot of people had dogs and all kept on leads. Saw no poo anywhere on the grounds (we are dog people). There's also an on grounds cat which is adorable.
You can hike up to the monument through the horse field from here and we petted the horses (they say not to but the horses came up to us very tamely).
We also drove to Tintagel (a nice 30 minute drive but not far away) which was a wonderful day out hiking around!
There is a Tesco really close (you could walk in 20 minutes or so and drive in 5 minutes) so great for buying ice and food.
We didn't eat at any of the Stein eateries as there were plenty of other places to eat in the village to check out. Not to mention, it's funny that people would queue (there was a LONG queue) for Stein fish & chips when the whole city is full of seafood. Some people are funny that way I guess.
I had fish and chips at the Shipwrights pub and it was delicious.
Other local pubs we liked - The London Inn (VERY friendly staff) and The Golden Lion (both full of character and locals). We sat outside at the Old Ship, mainly for people watching (it's great for this). We went to the Custom House to watch the men's Wimbeldon finals (we usually avoid pubs with TVs but this was must viewing whilst on holiday). It seemed okay but didn't have much charm inside; staff were nice though.
Overall, it was a nice visit but not sure if I would stay here again due to the closeness of pitches. I would rather pay a bit more and have more space. There is another field they open for when schools are out during the summer so can't comment on this.
It had POURED rain our last night and when we were having to leave. BUT due to the site being well manicured we were not left in a puddle which was nice when having to pack up in the rain.

The best thing by far about this campsite is the location. The location is excellent. The location made campsite worth staying at. It was refreshing to park up the campervan and walk into Padstow along the estuary.
The campsite has a lack of atmosphere and is spartan, the shower block and facilities are dated but were clean and there was plenty of water. The tents and campervans were packed in closely.
We ate at Rick Stein's bistro which I would recommend, they did a set price evening meal menu which was great value and very enjoyable.

This is a great campsite if you want to be able to walk into Padstow. You camp on a hill, it is a long walk to the toilets (although these are clean but basic) The pitch sizes are small so cars have to park alongside the tarmac road. There is no space for the kids to play let alone a play area. Its not the worst campsite by far, but its not the best
