We have stopped at this site for many years , and I never fail to be disappointed with the site, even after Simon took over the site, infact I think the site is better now , it seems to be more quiet , but that could be because I no longer go in peak season. We have always found the pitches to be spacious and well maintained , we have a large outfit and pitching has not been a issue, because of our size its awkward for us to go in the pitching area with the views , but the area we go in is nice and level . The toilet facilities are kept nice and clean there is also plenty of sinks for dishwashing. it is literally a 10 min walk into Padstow , you can go to the site and you can forget your car on holiday. This site is by far the best around in Padstow for both atmosphere, and facilities. If you want an all singing dancing type of holiday then this site is not for you. On a final note I cannot forget to mention Milly the ,border collie who makes my holiday , and has become friends with my two collies

Spent a lovely 5 days here on a girlie holiday that involved a lot of cider and seafood! Campsite was great, Simon and co. Really helpful and full of interesting local information. The main site was full so we took our chances with the overflow field and were lucky enough to get a fairly flat pitch - it's on a steep hill. One gripe about this would be the trek from the overflow field to the shower block - any chance of a portaloo in the corner of the field?? Pitches on the main site looked flat and fairly spacious, and the facilities were always clean. I recommend waiting for one of the family showers if you can, they seemed to last longer and have more pressure than the ones in the communal blocks. Padstow is still gorgeous if a little expensive, relived many family holidays sitting on the beach with sand in my pasty and misty rain coming in off the estuary. Altogether a fab short break - will definitely return.

Excellent location for North Cornwall's brilliant beaches and a pleasant 10 minute walk into Padstow. Very clean and well kept with a very organised and efficient owner. This is a very small site with plenty of clean toilets and hot showers which operate with a 40p token which we found adequate ( 2 were needed when showering with the children !) they also have a lovely big family shower room. Ice block replenishment is 20p each and are the camp sites own. During our stay we experienced very friendly campers who have been before, we have already booked for next year.

Just come back from here and had an excellent time. The toilets and shower block were incredibly clean and plentiful, 40p for 5 mins in the showers and the family shower room was big enough for 2 to share easily. There was also a washing machine and tumble dryer as well as power points in the shower block for hairdryers, mobile phones etc. The camp was very quiet after 10pm at night but lovely and friendly during the day. I didn't find the pitches too close together either and I like my privacy. I was very impressed with how well the site and grass was maintained after others had left, the ground was aireated and mown if needed, and the bins emptied daily. Oh and only 40p for a freezer block for the day. Padstow is an easy 10min walk away and the site is right on the camel trail. Bus services, pubs and a super market are all within 10 mins away too. The views from the site were lovely and so were the staff. Thankyou for a wonderful holiday.

After weeks of exam stress, me and my girlfriend needed somewhere where we could chill out and relax. After looking around many campsite websites in Cornwall, we sent an enquiry to Dennis Cove, and we weren't disappointed! At such short notice Simon managed to find us a pitch and provide us with a ton of information! The 3 nights we stayed were perfect, no children running around screaming, just a laid back, chilled atmosphere amongst the campers!
The showers and toilets were very clean and reasonably priced at 40p a shower. The proximity of the campsite is ideal as its only about 5/10minutes walk to Padstow and a few minutes stroll on to the Camel Trail.
All in all, we had a great stay at Dennis Cove, the relaxed atmosphere was perfect to combat the exam stress we had endured, and with no children running around yelling we could relax in peace! Thanks to Simon for getting us a pitch at such short notice!

This is a great site - definitely one on my list of sites to return to. It is located about 10 mins traffic-free walk from Padstow. The site has a shower & toilet block (you need to buy tokens for the showers at 40p each - we used the larger showers by the washing-up area and one token was plenty for both of us!) and also laundry facilities. All were kept very clean throughout our stay. The site is obviously popular as it was pretty much full most of the week. We had a pitch with a nice sea view. Very peaceful location - look out for the swallows near the shower block - they are amazing to watch! Lots to do in the area - we hired a bike in Padstow and cycled the camel trail (the first bike-hire place you get to walking from the site into padstow is excellent - just £8 a day). Recommend the Rick Stein fish & chips too (I know, it's supposed to be about the campsite!). I'd recommend booking for this one in advance to avoid disappointment as it did get busy while we were there.

After a horrible experience at a campsite in Newquay, we decided to escape to Padstow. Our guide book listed Dennis Cove so we decided to give it a shot. We couldn't have been more glad that we did! We pitched at the top of a sloping field, with views right over the estuary - it was beautiful. The owners were friendly and helpful, the facilities are superb (clean toilets and showers, plentiful washing up units, freezer blocks for rent etc) and the rates were very reasonable. It was an excellent base to visit Padstow and Harlyn Bay (great for surfing) and was a restful and chilled out place to stay. Would definitely recommend it and would return next time I'm in Cornwall.

This is an old favourite of ours. Not because the actual site is anything special but its location is brilliant.. on the Camel Trail and an easy 10 mins walk into Padstow with fabulous views of the Camel Estuary. Pitches are small and when its busy its very crowded. Facilities are basic and we always prefer the two unisex showers outside the main block cos they have more space and are more private. Showers are 30p and cool blocks 30p each so for 2 people you need to add another £1.20 per day to the quoted tariff (2 showers and 2 blocks). Washbasins were a bit grubby and seemed only to get a daily hose down. Although this is an old favourite I guess we wouldn't go to this site at all were it not for its situation.

August 2005 Visited this site for our first family camping holiday. Found the site to be well run, with helpful staff. Had clean facilities with well maintained pitches, which we found ample in size for an eight berth tent. Do ask for a large pitch when booking though, as some pitches did look smaller. With regard to cost, we didn`t feel 30p for a 5min shower token was expensive, nor 30p for freezer block hire, but we haven`t camped for 20 years! Location is perfect for Padstow, 10-15min walk round the lake and down the camel trail for all the shops, pubs and restaurants etc. Nearest beaches by foot are either through Padstow on coastal path(harbour cove?) approx 20-30 mins or catch ferry over to Rock. No shop on site but a large Tesco`s is only 5min drive. A really enjoyable stay and will hopefully return.

July 2005 Nice site with good facilities and great location being able to walk in to Padstow. However in our opinion the pitches were far too close together – and this felt too cramped. It also meant noise levels were higher. Showers chargeable and also freezer packs 2-3 times more than we paid elsewhere.
