A site with everything you need for relaxing. There isn't a shop on site but that doesn't matter as there is one down the road (5-10mins by car) ran by a lovely friendly man.
The site is clean and quiet and the pitches are very spacious, we went on the may bank holiday and could pitch anywhere we wanted and it wasn't busy or crowded. The toilets are within easy reach of all the pitches and have everything you need and are cleaned daily.
It's centrally located and a good base for days out or for just relaxing on site listening to the birds reading a book.
Abbotsbury is down the road (5-10mins by car) and has the local shop with the friendly man, a nice pub with average prices food.
Anyone with kids would like the site as there is a safe play area and plenty of space to run around and play ball games.
Most of the sites had electric and the owners have a map showing where the all are when you arrive so you know which ones you can choose from.
Would definitely recommend this site for anyone looking for somewhere to relax away from hectic amusement parks and loud noises. Perfect for families and couples alike looking for a very reasonably prices getaway.

Havent been to this site before. We booked this site as it was close to a pub and the weather was not ideal.
The toilets and showers were clean and well presented, the pitches mostly level and we were able to have a hardstanding. Good value for the pitch. Owners met us when we arrived, very helpful - lovely. Its a working dairy farm so they don't always man the front desk, so a call to them before hand is preferable.
We usually stay at sites where they have heating in the shower cubicles or under floor heating, however the showers were hot, there is no charge for the showers. And although in September and the weather wasn't good, it was still quite warm in the facilities.
Would I stay here again - yes
Value for money - 9 out of 10
Why an overall 7/10, I'm fairly critical of the sites and a site would only get a 9 or 10 if for instance the facilities were ultra modern with heated flooring, or indeed on location if it was right on a beach, or you had a fantastic view - so these are purely the way I rate sites.
However comparing this site with similar quality/location it would get a rating closer to 9/10, as indeed there are very few sites with ultra modern facilities. More importantly facilities should be clean, well presented, the site should look cared for and maintained and this site ticks those boxes.
As mentioned previously the Kings Arms is located a short walk from the site, the meal we had was excellent and the service fantastic!
The site is within reasonable distance to Weymouth and surrounding areas. We usually park near the Preston side of Weymouth as there is a parking area that does not have a height barrier and no marked spaces so a larger camper van can park up for the day - although it does state you can park there at night.

Superb site. Very friendly and helpful reception. Facilities more than adequate and kept very clean. Superb pub for meals within a few hundred yards of site, in village. Plenty of space for children to play. Good location for visiting beaches and villages along this interesting part of the Dorset Coast.

Lovely site, good facilities, we were near the portacabin showers and toilets which were first class.
Kids loved the playground and the open space.
Our only problem was having booked 2 adjacent pitches months in advance, (we travel from different places) we were told the day before (when we paid over the phone) it was pitch where you like as the office was going to be unmanned. This presents a problem for us as if we arrive at different times we cant always guarantee to get adjacent pitches.
We will use again as long as we can get the pitches we book.

Smashing site in a very pretty and quiet area yet only a 15-20 drive from busy Weymouth, if you go to Weymouth park at the station, only £3 per day off peak. Very level and well sheltered site, nice modern and very clean facilities, wifi now available at a very reasonable price, we had a fully serviced pitch just before the end of low season which at £16 per night was a bargain.
Portesham village is lovely, the Kings Arms is excellent and the whole surrounding area is beautiful, Abbotsbury is a must visit but don't bother with the swannery, it's £11 each to get in! Lots of lovely walks direct from the site/village, if anybody is into naval history admiral Thomas Hardy, captain of HMS Victory at Trafalgar lived in the big house on the left hand bend in the village going towards Abbotsbury.
Very nice friendly couple who own and run the site, we will definitely be going back.

We have been coming to this campsite for many years for the Show of Hands annual Abbotsbury concert.
It is Sheltered, Clean, and comfortable, and the owners are very nice:-)
The showers are brilliant, and toilets are clean and always fully stocked.
The camping field is flat and dry. If it rains, it drys very quickly.
Mobile phone signal is 'intermittant' at best!
The pub across the road (Kings Arms) is much improved (new owners) nice sunny pub garden, good beer, good food, free wifi.
Bus X53 is a useful service, (approx 2hourly) but be aware, the last bus into Waymouth is about 8pm (used to be 11pm) and the last bus back to Portsham is now 6. 25pm (used to be 9pm) £3. 80 return.
Bus to Lyme Regis is £5. 50 return. Sit upstairs for a wonderful view of the county side.
Taxi from weymouth to portsham is £12. 00 to £15. 00.

We stayed for 3 nights in order to take part in the Wessex folk festival. The site was busy when we arrived on the Friday but by Sunday morning the site was quiet. Facilities were top class and we were given a choice of which pitch we wanted. The site details on the website state that the mobile phone signal was not good so we had warned relatives before we went. We managed to get a few texts out and in but not calls. The payphone in the village is close by but we didn't use as felt it expensive. The bus goes every two hours from outside the Kings Arms, we used it on the Sunday to pop back into Weymouth for lunch rather than moving the motorhome again. We didn't see any staff at all over the 3 days but facilities always spotless.

We stayed here at the end of May and really enjoyed the peace and quiet, the toilet block was clean and very well looked after and although we had heavy rain the ground was dry very quickly. There is a nice little playground that is also well maintained. The owners were very nice to deal with and it's obvious to me that they work very hard and the result of this is a great place to stay.
The local pub - The Kings Arms, does good food and a range of beers and I liked the sign outside that says it's family, wellyboot and dog friendly, a very nice welcoming Pub. I wasn't impressed with the level of goods available at the petrol station and the stores at Abbotsbury is difficult to park near but there are plenty of Big stores in the Weymouth area. Once again I have to say, this is a great place to stay!

This is our 3rd season staying here on a seasonal pitch. The site is regularly maintained and the toilets and showers cleaned on a daily basis.
We have very good TV reception and we know where to get a phone signal on the site.
The site is conveniently situated between Weymouth and Bridport and there are some superb walks from the site itself. The supermarkets are a short drive away and the Kings Arms are just over the road.
This is a small quiet site and does not have the hustle and bustle of drunks returning from club houses after a night out.

We were very happy with our visit to this camp site and if we ever go that way again we will be sure to use it again, we stayed for 9 nights and it was always clean and tidy, plenty of hot water, owners very helpful and friendly.
Lots of lovely walks in the area and even leading off from the site. Beautiful views from the site and situated not far from either Weymouth or Dorchester. No long winding narrow lanes to have to get your caravan down either only tricky bit was the village of Portesham a bit busy and with small stream running down one side of the road you needed to be aware that oncoming traffic can't move to far over for you. We were really really pleased and will recommend it to all our camping friends.
Couldn't find any faults so have given it a 10 out of 10.
