This campsite is one of the best we have stayed at, very friendly owners who kept every thing clean and tidy. The showers and toilets where very clean and never had to queue even though it was a busy weekend. They are a bit of a walk from the campsite but then we were camping so a walk does you good.
The camping field is very nice with well cut grass and although it had been raining it dried quickly. The site was nice and quiet in a good location for Weymouth etc. In the village which is walking distance there is a nice Pub serving excellent real Ale although the food is ok but not that special but is cheap. The shop in the village is useful as well as being able to buy most essentials on the Campsite.
Overall I would say it is a nice basic site which is what we wanted and look forward to staying again.

Read all the previous comments and would agree that when driving into the site we were a bit put off with the seasonal pitches and grey gravel. However, the touring site was flat and the the grass cut (with no grass cuttings left like other sites we have visited). The owners were very friendly and kept the toilets and showers spotless. We had great weather (don't say that very often) and would visit this site again as the area is beautiful. It would have been nice if there had been a rubbish bin nearer the touring site. Loads of rabbits and pheasants to watch. Didn't use the pub.

A lovely site with helpful, friendly owners and very reasonable pitch pricing. There is plenty of room for campers and caravanners alike on the level pitches. The showers and toilet blocks were spotlessly clean. There's an onsite shop supplying basic necessities which was very handy. There's a dog walking field which was well used. The only downside for us was the road noise and the dogs wandering off the lead coming and disturbing us despite the polite welcoming note to keep dogs on a lead!
There's a lovely pub in the thatched village of Martinstown called the 'Brewers Arms' which gives you local, plate laden quality food. Well worth what you pay. We will be back.

We went to this site on the back of the reviews on this site and found it pretty much as has already been mentioned. We didn't see the owners and were left to get on with things, although we felt that they were available if needed. The site was flat and spacious but we did feel that the entrance through the caravans to the tent field wasn't overly pleasing on the eye with lots of dark gravel and not a lot of greenery. We found that there was plenty of space to pitch and the field was fairly sheltered from the elements. We did suffer a little from the road noise in the mornings but it was quiet at night. The shower blocks were kept incredibly clean and there was never a need to queue for showers or dish washing. I didn't feel that the shower block was that far from the tent field, a walk in the morning is what camping is all about! The pub across the road 'the Kings head' wasn't great, the food was ok and suited us for a rest when the rain got the better of us! Over all this is a basic site with everything that we needed which suited us as a base to see the surrounding area.

This is the best site we have stayed on so far. It is a small family run site, and it is immaculate. The toilets are very clean and so are the showers, a great find for a family with children who in the past have not found the shower block to be clean at other sites we have used. We were really impressed.
The Owners were friendly and very helpful, they have a 24 hour self service shop, which they run on trust and we found that it stocked a small but adequate amount of essentials like bacon and eggs, milk etc. Plus you get to use a freezer free of charge to freeze ice packs. A godsend it hot weather.
A small play area for younger children, which was great, and large areas on the field for children to play happily.
The flat grass area was excellent for pitching our tent. There were tourers and campervans too.
We would highly recommend this site and we will definitely be returning. It's in easy reach of Weymouth, Abbottsbury etc.

This site is basic but in a good way - if you like no frills but clean toilets and showers then this is a good site.
There was some noise from the road but not too invasive.
Some children were out playing until after ten which could bother some people but not us. The camping field is large and flat and even high season there was lots of space for children to play games. The play park was not up to much and my children bored of it very quickly.
The camping field is a long walk to the loo block at the entrance. There are portaloos nearer but not ideal to go so far for a shower.
Felt left to get on with it which suited us down to the ground!

What an excellent find, a quite flat site within reasonable travelling distance of the delights of the Dorset Coast. There was a concert in nearby Abbotsbury but there was still plenty of space on the site. Owner was helpful and friendly on arrival and had ensured that we had a pitch next to our friends who were also visiting the site.
The little playground was ideal for our youngster and close enough to our pitch to keep an eye on her, although plenty of space around the site for her to play in if she wanted.
The loos are all kept nice and clean and the portaloo near the camping field even has dado rails on the walls!
My only grumble is that their website states “The King's Arms is a traditional country pub” if by this they mean that the landlady is grumpy, unwelcoming and the food is overpriced standard pub grub then they are correct. The only good things going for it are that it is in walking distance of the site and does have a large garden for the kids.
However this is not in the control of the campsite and there are plenty of other places you can visit for good food in the evening. We will visit this site again and happy to recommend it to others.

Nice, quiet site - lots of 'permanents', but still space for us tourers. New Loo / service block very nice, but at one end of site - quite a way from the main tourers area. They had put in Portacabin type loos nearer the touring area. Lots of space for kids to play.
Owner very helpful & friendly.
£17 / night for campervan, 2 adults +hook-up.

This is a really lovely site - very flat so great for tents and the toilets and showers were kept spotlessly clean - we had fantastic weather, hot and sunny every day, which also helps! There were very few people when we went although there are a lot of permanently pitched caravans so I expect weekends would be busier.
There is some road noise but not enough to worry about and there are some nice walks from the public footpath at the back of the campsite going over the fields. If your dog is a rabbit chaser like ours then beware! There were rabbits and pheasants around the tent area in the morning and evening.
There is a pub just a couple of minutes walk although we didn't think much of the food. Weymouth is around a 10 minute drive or there are several nice looking pubs out towards/through Abbotsbury, 5 mins the other way in the car.
Many of the beaches nearby are not sandy and you can't really swim off Chesil Beach although there were a lot of fishermen there. We went further down towards Bridport where there are some mostly sandy beaches that allow dogs - the Tourist Info in Weymouth gave us a list of beaches that do allow dogs and whether they are sandy or whatever which was useful.
We will definitely go back - also the owner was super-friendly / helpful which is not always the case.

The site is flat, well laid out with plenty of room for each pitch. The facilities are very clean and modern. In the ladies shower block there are 3 showers that are operated by a push button (this is my only moan - it is a pain having to push the button every couple of seconds to keep the flow of water) and are comfortably hot. There is a laundry room and a dishwashing room that is very cosy (small) but it was a good way to get chatting to fellow campers.
There is a small playground for the children but plenty of room for them to run around safely. The Reception has a small honesty shop - you take what you want and put the money in an honesty box. The owners were lovely and only to pleased to help with any queries we had.
You are about 10-15 mins from Weymouth where you will find all the usual big names shops and Supermarkets. The surrounding area is GORGEOUS, particularly Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. West Bay have wonderful fish and chips and a lovely sea front walk. We will be returning to this site as often as possible.
