Stayed here last weekend for the second time in total.

This is a great site with is really nice and quiet as it has no bar or club house etc and therefore no one coming home at 3am and wake everyone on the campsite up as they are totally legless!

The toilets and showers could not be any cleaner, I'm not sure who cleans them as we never saw anybody do it, maybe they have fairies lol. No extra charge for showers either.

A chest freezer in the laundry room for everyone to use is a god send especially if you are camping. This is free to use as well which is great.

The reception is often un-manned which is no problem as you never really need anything! There is an intercom in the office though should you require some assistance.

Pub and garage just across the road which is great. Weymouth just 6 miles away along some nice country roads although weymouth are getting ready for the 2012 Olympics at the moment so the roads are all undergoing work which caused a bit of a traffic problem.

Abbotsbury which is lovely just 2 miles in the other direction and with access to chesil beach which my kids loved in the evenings after tea.

Dogs welcome and my Lab just loved all of the space to play in with our children throwing and catching balls etc.

We have done all of the Haven etc campsites which are just big, over priced and noisy so it a lovely change to visit Portesham dairy farm for a bit of peace and quiet.

This site does not tend to get too busy either which is great.

In summary, a real jewel and recommended to all. I know we will be going back and we are pretty fussy where we go!

Great site, good sized marked flat pitches. There are a fair few 'permanent' caravans there but these are all very smart, no rickety old heaps! Two shower and toilet blocks, one older and brick built which also housed laundry room/freezer, washing up area.

The newer showers (free, unisex, very spacious), toilets (separate male/female), washing up area are purpose built portacabins (nearest to the non-EHU), obviously quite expensive with nice lighting, loo rolls, soap, hand dryers.

Always plenty of hot water. As one of the other reviewers said, they must have cleaning fairies as I never saw anyone cleaning but they were always spotless.

Impression of site on arrival was excellent; reception area looked brand new, everything modern, clean and tidy, no overflowing bins, grass kept mown (with grass collected up!)

Owners very helpful, nothing was too much trouble, not that I needed much. Price excellent though I did visit out of school holiday time, as a single camper some sites prove very expensive.

Lovely location, easy access to Abbotsbury with the Swannery and Gardens - recommend the Old School House Tea Rooms, had afternoon tea and Sunday lunch there.

Lovely walks in the area. Did not use local pub. Can't wait to visit again!

We have just returned from 3 nights over the May bank holiday weekend.

Portesham Dairy Farm was picked as this was the only site in the area that would let us book for less than 5 nights for electric hook up.

Very glad that we picked it.

The site has hard standing for caravans and a lovely flat area for tents & caravans. The plots are quite generous, we were able to pitch our dinning tent between our tents and still had room to park the car.

The new toilet & shower blocks are brand new and are one of the best we have used. The owners were constantly cleaning them and even left a cleaning cloth next to the sinks to encourage everyone to keep them clean. On 2 occasions there were even being cleaned at 11.30 at night. The site looked full on the 2nd & 3rd night, however we never had to queue for the showers or toilets. There is another shower block at the top of the camp site, if it did get even busier.

We had an issue with 2 of our neighbours on the first night, as they were quite noisy up until 1.30 am. We went the next morning to discuss this with the owners, and they had already asked 1 family to leave due to noise levels. We had no further problems after this. They did say that they visit the site regularly in the evening to ensure that the site rules are followed.

The site is a little way out of Weymouth, however it is only a 10 – 15 drive into Weymouth. As it is a little way out you do not get stuck in the usual traffic problems that you normally get on the way in.

Would not hesitate to go back due to the cleanliness of the site.

The campsite is situated in the village of Portesham which is on the B3157 between Weymouth & Bridport. The village has a pub & a petrol station (neither of which impressed us). If you need food supplies there is a small store in the beautiful village of Abbotsbury just a couple of miles away. Otherwise you will need to go to Bridport or Weymouth for the bigger stores.

On entering the site you have the main facilities block which is split into four. The ladies toilets / showers / sinks, the laundry room, the dishwashing room & the gents toilets /showers / sinks. The laundry room also houses a freezer so you can refreeze your ice packs & a selection of 'things to do in the area' leaflets.

The site is split into two sections, the closest to the entrance being the hardcore serviced pitches for the seasonal caravans. The hardcore is grey / black as is some of the service road therefore not only making it harder for kids if they fall bit it also gives the site a drab feel about it, especially with the lack of any flowers etc.

Driving through this section leads you to the open field for the serviced & non serviced pitches for tents and tourers. The outer perimeter is non serviced with the unmarked pitches side by side. The Inner grassed area is a mix of serviced & non serviced pitches with the electric hook ups in the centre of a four pitches.

On our group of four we had a caravan to our left & one diagonally opposite. We also had a caravan to our right in the next group of four but felt we had plenty of room for our tent and car. The site is level so no problems falling out of bed. On each post, as well as the electric hook up, you also had a night light and drinking water tap.

In addition to the main block at the entrance there were also two portable cabins in our field. One consisted of 4 shower cubicles & a dishwashing cubicle with 3 sinks. The other portable cabin housed the male & female toilets with sinks. The two portable cabins were separated by the children's play area. The problem with this set up was that if you wanted to go to the loo, then have a shower & then clean your teeth, you ended up trekking between the two. Personally I would like to see a similar set up as the block at the entrance.

The site was quiet so never a queue for these facilities and they were cleaned daily. Two things to note regarding the portable cabins, firstly it was quiet a step up to them and secondly, the shower doors although lockable from the inside still retained the keyhole so watch out for any peeping toms !

We came here for the walking & wasn't disappointed. The coastline is beautiful & we walked the Lulworth cove, the Durdle dor, Portland Bill, the white horse and our favourite, the 6 mile circular walk staring from Abbotsbury which takes in the south west coast path along the ridge & then down along Chesil beach.

Although the winds were quite blustery at night, the weather in the day was lovely for April, varying between 17-20 degrees with the camp site enjoying the sun for most of the day.

There are other camp sites closer to Weymouth but they tend to be bigger, with more facilities & sea views although this often comes at a price with sloping pitches.

Overall I would describe the site as functional but drab however at £14 a night in low season for a serviced pitch, it was good value for money and makes an excellent base for exploring the area.

Great farm site with good well maintained facilities. Not much to do in Portesham but is nicely situated between Weymouth, Bridport & Dorchester so there is plenty to do within a short drive. Owners seemed friendly. Seemed to be more suited to caravans rather than tented camping but seemed a quiet enough site.

Owners are not always around but not a problem as good instructions were left in reception area. No shop on site but good village shop for basics only a short drive away & decent supermarkets in Weymouth & Dorchester.

Just got home from a weeks camping on this site, very good shower block, clean and warm showers. Tent field excellent, room for kids to play and you feel safe leaving them to play.

Unfortunately ours and other peoples stay was spoiled by other inconsiderate people that were camping / caravanning on this site.

Great site, great location. Great pub 5 mins walk.

To the owners, I recommend you show your presence around 10.30, 11.00 time, you will see who the culprits are as they are the only thing spoiling your site. Also a bit expensive for the facilities, Shrubbery park in Lyme Regis is the same price and has much better facilities.

We stayed for a week at this site in the tent area at the far end of the site. One side of the field backs onto the road (not a very busy one though) but we headed for the other side and were were quite happy with our choice. We pitched a good way away from the main toilet block which was very well maintained.

Sink cubicles and shower cubuicles provided, plenty of normal sinks and toilets and a nice touch -free hair dryer! There was another set of male and female toilets (large porta cabin)2 toilets and sinks in the female side which were also clean and quite adequate for the shorter walk from the camping field.

Water was always hot for us and inside pot washing sinks were also provided in the main block. The office was just around the corner from the main site in the back of the farm house, it was always unmanned when we went across but an intercom was provided to call someone over.

It was a lovely relaxed site in a great area. Another nice touch was a chest feezer was provided so you could freeze as many ice blocks as you wished free of charge, a camping must in the hot weather - great. Also plently of leaflets of what to do in the area.

Overall extreemly happy with the site, would recommend it.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my boyfriend and 2 friends / family who we were keen to impress, as it was our first trip in our new tent!

We all were very impressed with this site, for a smaller site it had loads of room and we were able to choose any spot as we weren't on electric hookup.

The main toilet and shower block was big and very clean. It had 4 decent sized showers, sink cubicles and enough toilet cubicles, there were also plenty of mirrors, a couple of sockets for hair appliances and a fitted hair dryer. The main block also included a nice little washing-up room which was kept clean. Nearer the tents were portacabin toilets, these surprised me as they were also cleaned thoroughly the whole time we were there, and the decor was very cosy in them!

A small kids playground stood next to the portacabin, which looked safe and clean.

The staff were really friendly and helpful when it came to us asking how to get to certain places. The reception was full of leaflets on where to explore, and included a self-service shop which covered the basics, e.G bacon, milk, bread etc.

We enjoyed the Kings Arms pub around the corner. They welcomed us there, and within half an hour we felt like locals ourselves! The drinks were around about average (the same price I pay at my own local) and there was a pool table and background music.

The location of the site is ideal for couples and families wanting to get away from it all. We found our stay peaceful at night and not far to drive into Weymouth during the day, where there was plenty to do. I can't fault anything with this site. Thankyou!

Very friendly owners for which nothing was too much trouble. Pitches weren't marked out and although there is a maximum unit size listed on their web site, if you are on anun serviced pitch there is some flexibility. The flip side of pitches not being marked out came when we returned from a day out to find a tent pitched next to us with only a cigarette paper to separate us. This was soon rectified when the owners used their diplomacy and asked them to re-pitch with more regard for their fellow campers.

Like I say the pitches were generous but did rely on the discretion of other peoples pitching morals. The site could benefit from a parking policy where by you always park to left (or right) of your pitch to guarantee your at least a cars width form the next tent.

The toilets, showers and washing up area were always found to be clean and never ran out of hot water. Although there were only 2 washing-up sinks there it never seemed to be too long a wait even in August. Also during a 2 week stay we only had to queue once for the showers.

Another plus was the free ice pack service offered at the farm house. A rare thing these days and very much appreciated when camping without hookup.

Remember this is a Dairy Farm. You are aware of their presence as well as road noise.

Another note, remember you pegs for hard ground, you'll need them.

Just got back from a weeks stay here. After booking in the owner took us to our pitch, the field already had a number of tents and motor homes on it but still had more than enough room for the kids to play which was good. We were pitched just near the toilet block which was kept spotless and had hot running water, there was also a small kids play area, the shower and washing up room which were also kept very clean were only a short walk away which wasn't a problem.

The on site shop had the basics but it was only a short drive into the village. We ate at the kings arms the first night which was ok but expensive for a family of four. We can recommend the elm tree which again is a short drive up the road but is value for money and the food is great. Weymouth is about 6-7 miles away from the site it has a fantastic sand beach, there is plenty for a family to do without the kids getting bored. We will definitely be back next year.
