We stayed here high season for 2 weeks, the site has beautiful views of the sea and if your lucky some evenings you can see the dolphins playing.
My children 7 & 10 loved the play area and free table tennis table (don't forget to pick up some bats from the £1 shop b4 you go!) they also enjoyed the climbing tree which offered shelter from the Devon rain! The children have to be back at their own pitch by 9pm and lights out at 10pm which is made clear on arrival.
The pitches offer some shelter from the wind and are pitched on tiers to offer great views. The showers are clean but drive you mad with having to push the button every 10seconds they also have offer nowhere to get dry as the floor gets soaked unfortunately there is nowhere to dry your hands either.
The site shop is very reasonably priced and opens for a few hours a day. There is a path which cuts down to the harbour which is only a 5 min walk down but steep on the way back! Beware though this is treacherous at the bottom if there's been some rain. The Sawmill pub is a 15 min walk and welcomes children & dogs.
Ilfracombe & Combe Martin are about a 5 min drive and if you are lucky enough to be there in August you may see the carnival which was amazing showing some wonderful floats and costumes. It didn't actually make it to the village until 9pm after the advertised 7. 30 start but was well worth the wait.
I can also recommend 'Seventy one' a restaurant in Ilfracombe, the food was exquisite worthy of a michelin star. Try the steak and Lundy Lobster it was delicious! You can get a taxi back to the campsite from next to Barclays on the high st for about £8.
Lynmouth is a stunning village and worth spending the day at, the beach is very rocky though. A visit to Instow is worthwhile which has a superb beach and very calm water compared to the local surf beaches stop off at Bidiford on the way which is a great shopping centre with winding streets.
Little Meadow is a lovely site and with a couple of small improvements to the entrance which is awful and shower block it would be completely perfect.

We stayed at Little Meadow for 11 nights with our two small children (3 and 1) and it was an absolutely beautiful site. We stayed in a tent; the pitch was a really generous size, even with our 8 berth tent, a car and a picnic table (available at the site) we had loads of room. The best thing of all was the views out to sea.
The shower blocks and toilets are really nice and kept very clean and stocked up, with nice touches like hair driers and rustic clothes hooks. They were new and the showers were nice and hot, the only downside is you have to keep pressing the button for the showers but that does help to save water waste, plus there was no extra charge.
And we never had to wait for a shower or toilet, even though the site was quite full.
The washing up station has the most amazing view out to sea and hot water. There is also a freezer for ice blocks and a nice little shop that sells things at a very reasonable price.
The people running it were friendly and helpful and it felt like they really cared about the site. There is also a small playground, nothing to write home about but our three year old loved it, plus there were some friendly llamas in the field next door!
We found plenty to do nearby, lots of nice little places with beaches and rockpools and some nice walks.
All in all, a wonderful site and would definitely recommend to anyone who loves a beautiful location to camp.

I stayed here with my husband and dog. It's a beautiful little site with great amenities. It was very easy to find and really quiet and peaceful
There was a dog walk that takes you down to a harbour and the castle approx 500yards
The reception/shop had all the essentials and the toilets and showers were always clean and tidy. They have a small laundry with a washer and dryer and a freezer, however the best feature is the wash up area which looks out over the sea and headlands, it was a pleasure to wash up and we never argued over whose turn it was
We were made really welcome and so was our dog we would defo stay here again

This is our third visit to Little Meadow over a period of 4 years.
In many respects, this site is perfect. The pitches are very wide, the tiers in the hillside give some seclusion and the most amazing views across the sea. The air carries the smell of grass, moorland and the sea.
The washing up facilities are terrific, affording a view of the hills and sea.
The showers and toilets are well maintained and clean.
The shop offers the essentials.
There is a washing machine, and a small freezer on site - I would say the freezer is really not up to the job and is usually full.
The site isn't patrolled, which is an issue in my opinion. Of course, it could be simply that we were in the minority with our perspective!
Of course, we were camping in the first week of summer holidays, so outside of school holidays, I'm sure it is quiet and peaceful.

2nd visit this year as we loved the 1st visit so much. This sites is superb in our opinion and the staff are extremely helpful and amenities always clean.
Having stayed at the near by Hidden Valley site; Little Meadow knocks spots of that site, it is far more peaceful, views are spectacular and its almost half the price.
If I had to make one recommendation, it would be to have continuous running water in the showers, rather than having to push the button every few seconds.
However, we will be back in 2012.

This is a lovely peaceful site, even though it was fully booked when we stayed (May half term).
The pitches, as others have said, are really well spaced out, and because of the 'terraces', you have an unspoilt view wherever you are pitched. And what a lovely view it is!
The toilets and showers are immaculate, there was a bit of a queue for showers at 'peak' times, though as I said they were fully booked, and it was never a long wait.
The staff were all really friendly too.
Lots to do in the surrounding area, Woolacombe beach is a lovely sandy beach, and was very popular with families and surfers.
Nearest supermarket was Tesco, about ten minutes drive away.
We visited Combe Martin Dinosaur and wildlife park, £45 for family of four. OK, but was disappointed that we had to pay an additional charge for the 'rides' that were advertised on their flyer. W
The Big sheep, an all weather attraction was worth a visit on a very wet day, and our children loved it there(aged 5 and 3).
Beware if you are arriving with a caravan, the turn in to the site is very sharp, and impossible to do approaching from Combe Martin. As advised by the owners, there is a lay bay just past the site tht you can use to turn around, but we missed this and ended up driving through Ilfracombe, a very narrow high street, very hairy with a caravan in tow! though as I say the owners had advised us of this, it was our fault we missed the turning.
Overall, a lovely site, and I would recommend it.

Just returned from 4 nights at Little Meadow with our new Bear Lake 6 Tent. What a belter of a campsite, absolutely stunning views and immaculately clean (including the shower block).
Extremely helpful staff and friendly Ducks. This will definitely be our campsite of choice for future trips to North Devon (just booked a week in June!).
The pitches were well spaced out and all had spectacular views looking straight out to sea.
As previous reviewers have commented, the pot wash area certainly makes it a pleasure and not a chore.
Great that they also provide a freezer for your ice packs too, well done Little Meadow.

This was our very first camping holiday and were so pleased that our first site was as perfect as this. Our pitch with EHU was large enough for our very large family tent, plus a big car, and still not too close to our neighbours. The views were spectacular.
The toilet block was always clean and there was always hot water. The dish washing block was great - washing up is not a chore with a view like that! We have two children aged 4 and 6 who loved the site too.
They would have liked more opportunity to make friends - maybe that is a minor disadvantage to the terraces with 5 pitches on, but we felt it was worth it to have a relatively private and definitely peaceful site.
Having said that, we didn't make use of the playground. Great crabbing at Coombe Martin. Fantastic body boarding at Woolacombe and Croyde. Go to Tescos just outside Ilfracoombe to stock up! Go to 'The Big Sheep' with young children - great value when paying with Tesco clubcard vouchers. A fab day out.
We would recommend the site unreservedly and we will go back when we are holidaying in the area again.

Beautiful site, as mentioned the view is spectacular of coastline. My biggest plus was the size of the pitches. We had SO much space, at least double usual pitch sizes.
Shower blocks and washing up and recycling areas all pristine. Plenty of hot water, free showers. Flowers planted between pitches, picturesque.
Kids area was gorgeous, like a huge woody back garden with swings, an extra large hammock like contraption (my 9year old kid's favourite) and a roundabout. Very safe location, our kids hung out there every day and made lots of friends. Also friendly alpacas in the adjacent fields were very entertaining for the kids.
The only downside was galeforce winds-not that that was the site's fault!
We went to Combe Martin Wildlife and Safari Park which was a reasonable value whole day out-£40 for family of 4, about 10/15mins drive.
We will definitely be back here again, the best site I've ever been to and the kids agreed.

Great location; superb views - you will struggle to wash up and enjoy better scenery anywhere else! The immediate coast line is stunning; hidden coves etc within walking distance (Golden Cove is well worth the 230 steps) whilst the crabbing in the harbour was first rate! Further a field Morthoe (seals off the point)and Putsborough beach are fantastic.
We had a warm welcome and the rules/expectations were clearly explained to us. Pitches are a good size and the facilities are great; spotless toilets and hot showers. You are left in no doubt that this is a 'tranquil site' and the clientèle reflects this - lots of families with younger children. Not sure that this didn't make us a feel just a bit self conscious about our children (only 8 and 5) doing what children of that age do however!
In fact if we had one (very minor) criticism then our kids felt a bit suppressed by the geography of our pitch (on one of a series of tiers) which meant that they couldn't ride bikes etc very easily and the fact that we were a fair way from the small park (on the far side of the site).
I should put this point into context; it is a very minor point. This is a superb site, really helpful and friendly proprietors and staff and we would recommend.
