First impressions on arriving were excellent, the site is on a hillside with amazing views out over the sea and surrounding countryside. We were given a friendly welcome by John and shown to our pitch.
We had a hard pitch with electric hookup which drained well after a night of heavy rain.
The shower blocks and toilets were all good with hot water, cleaned every day. Fresh drinking water taps located all over the site. Clean recycling area and, as has been previously stated, the best view from a wash up area in North Devon.
The site is conveniently located between Combe Martin and Ilfracombe and right on the coast path, great for walking.
John is around every day to offer good advice and help.
There was a mixture of couples and families, and the site was always quiet at night.
We did a lot of walking around the area during our stay and if there is a better campsite than this I'll be very surprised, it has everything.

Just back from a few days at this lovely site. Stunning views, we were allowed to choose our pitch! Our only problem was that it was too windy to pitch our awning - we were on the top terrace and arrived on a very blustery day. Luckily the weather improved and we even managed to sit outside!
The facilities were good - the shop was only open for a few hours each day, but there weren't many of us on the site, and the owners were about working on the site most of the time.
Immaculate toilets, lots of hot water and as mentioned in previous reviews, the most outstanding view ever from the washing up area.
Went to the pub - the sawmill, about 10 minute walk. Ok, bit pricey but good service.
Some great walks from the site too
Will we go back - definitely. Stunning views, beautiful area, great value

We have just returned from a fantastic Easter break. Sian was amazingly welcoming being very friendly and helpful. Even when the site suffered a power cut (the electricity company's fault - not there's!) she was very calm and helpful offering candles, blankets and anything that could help.
The mobile home was well kitted out with everything we needed. There was a great view from the lounge window, it was just a shame the weather wasn't better to enjoy it more. Being in a mobile home and without children old enough to use the play area we didn't need to make use of much site facilities.
However, ducks and chickens roaming the farm were very popular! The site has no mobile phone reception which I found great - a complete break without being disturbed. Just like it used to be before mobile phones. :-)
The site it's self is on a hill behind Watermouth Castle, behind the harbour. There are some lovely coastal walks from site. We had a stroll down along the coastal path to Combe Martin where there are a few shops and pubs.
The pub right on the beach front did good traditional pub grub, welcomed children and dogs so suited us well. The walk back is pretty hilly at times. There's a steep hill out of Combe Martin, then the hill up from the road to the site behind the castle is very steep. However, stopping off at the Sandy Cove hotel (about a mile or so from the site) made it easier, again with spectacular sea views to admire. The Sawmill was even closer though we didn't visit it - I suspect the walk back up the hill after a meal and a few drinks could be hard work!
Being the start of April the weather wasn't great - rain made a very regular appearance and temperatures chilly most days, but the mobile home had a heater and was still a lovely holiday. Overall a site I would definitely love to return to. Perhaps next time it will be with the tent in summer!

The best view I ever had from a tent! Great site and already planning to return next season for longer. Facilities great, clean everytime we went in.
Only slight moan was that we had the pitch in front of the washing up block. Stunning view, but it was a little noisy with late night washer uppers. We also felt a bit like we were in a car park because people stopped off on their way in and out of the site by car to use the facilities.
Coombe Martin is great for a spot of crabbing and we found a lovely cafe, but can't remember the name. Was on the right hand side as you work inland up the high street, upstairs with a balcony.
Ilfracombe looks very tired. Aquarium good but overpriced for all of the 10 minutes it took us - we have a 3 year old! Woolacombe beach fantastic, even in driving rain and strong winds. Kids had a great time rock pooling.

A medium sized site (50 pitches), for tourers and tents with level pitches and hook-up, arranged on grass terraces overlooking the sea. Some pitches enjoy only a small triangular view. The toilet and shower block has a rustic feel but is very clean. There is a small shop with basic provisions.
There are a couple of bigger sites on the other side of the road and the nearest pub is family orientated. We walked fifteen minutes or so along a lane to Ye Olde Globe Inn in Berrynabor, which had a more country feel. Our meal was satisfactory but I didn’t think anywhere still served tinned peas!
A footpath from the site leads to Watermouth Harbour. A walk up the hill offers good views of the sailing boats moored there. Be aware – the cliff edge is unfenced. Watermouth Castle is opposite the harbour where there is a bus stop. The journey from here to Ilfracombe, a very pleasant seaside town, takes around fifteen minutes. The café at the tourist centre provides excellent views of the sea and town. There is a huge choice of cafés and restaurants along the main drag and in the side streets. The Aquarium is small but of some interest.

Another good review for this site. We went there for our first ever outing with the tent based on previous reviews and could not have picked a nicer site. The views are amazing and the pitches well thought out so that everyone gets a view.
The toilet/showers were I felt quite basic, but spotlessly clean which is what matters most I think.
The owners were very helpful when we were trying to choose our pitch.
It's just a shame it closes at the end of September as I would love to go back again now.

We have just come back from three night on our honeymoon from this lovely site, if someone can find better views from their tent then please send your answers on a postcard to MR ********.
I washed up everyday as the view from the washing up area are stunning Watermouth bay, friendly owners helpful and charming, glad my new wife phoned and reserved a pitch as it was busy lovely quiet site, nice toilet and shower facilities. Pitches are huge and with EHU only £13 a night. Handy for Ilfracombe and surrounding area coast line is beautiful especially Mortehoe which is well worth a visit lovely walk and scenery.

Visited last August - another wet and windy stay! We thought that the site was lovely. The terracing means that you aren't too exposed, and all sites have lovely views. We even saw dolphins one evening.
The facilities are clean and fresh - and flowers and nice soap in the ladies added a touch of luxury. The owners couldn't have been more friendly.
We probably won't visit again as we prefer the smaller coves of South Devon, but if you want to visit this part, this is a great site!

We spent a wonderful 3 weeks at this site and the views from the tent and the washing up area made up for the changeable weather.
The pitches are flat and well looked after. The staff were always friendly and willing to help, there was no objection when we asked if we could have a different pitch when we arrived as the one we were allocated appeared to be very boggy when wet and was completely in the shade.
The toilet block was very clean but the stone floors were very cold when showering - although you soon get used to it. One criticism of the toilets is that there is nowhere to dry your hands.
The washing up area is superb and the views are stunning. There is however a distinct lack of laundry facilities with only one washing machine and no tumble drier - as we were there for 3 weeks we really could have done with a drier as we struggled to get clothes dry after washing them (although the wind helped!)
The children thought the play area and 'climbing tree' were excellent and they spent many hours amusing themselves there and making lots of friends.
The recycling facilities were good, including battery recycling and disposable bbq's.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this site to anyone who is looking for a quiet family site and we hope to return sometime in the future.
There is plenty to occupy everyone in the surrounding area. Coastal walks are stunning and the beaches at Woolacombe and Putsborough are excellent. The Combe Martin Wildlife park is well worth a visit and we spent a whole day there - make sure you listen to as many of the talks as possible, seeing the children sitting in the Meerkat enclosure was amazing. Chambercombe Manor is excellent but not very well advertised, the gardens are lovely and their cream teas are very good, the tour is about an hour long and very interesting. Another place to visit is Broomhill Sculpture Park - don't be put off - we went with 4 children( ages 12,8,4 and 1) and they loved it. We also spent a number of days cycling the Tarka trail - mostly flat and tarmac.

We do not normally do commercial sites but decided to give this one a go and we were not disappointed, everything on this site is wow. Pitches huge, level well serviced, views to die for. Only down side to this site was my wife got no signal on her mobile phone (bliss). Toilets excellent as are showers too at on point they even painted one shower (it didn't need doing). Washing up facilities second to none even made washing up almost a pleasure with the views on offer. Ilfracombe a bit tatty we thought but if you have a car its not a problem area is outstanding. Lots of nice beaches the ones on the west coast good for bodyboarding and lifeguard patrolled.
