The Wife, my two lads (aged 9 & 7, my dog and I went back to Thorpe Park in Aug 2009 for a second visit and we checked in with the Touring Warden who gave us the usual Haven information before we set off to find our own pitch.
We found it hard to find an empty pitch which was suitable to pitch on as none of the grass electric field appears to have been repaired or worked on since our last visit 12 months before.
We had a touring van and eventually found a pitch that we were happy with and pitched there.
The site had a wonderful entertainment site and a great swimming complex but the flumes are weather permitting so this can lead to 'lost days' if weather is against you.
The toilets were 50/50. On our first day the massive pool of urine was reported by myself to the warden at 1400hrs and it was 1600hrs before I noticed it was cleaned up.
On our second night both the gents and ladies showers on the grass field were cold water only and not restored till next morning.
The nearby beach is lovely and dogs are allowed any time of the year to play in the water as our dog loves doing.
Thorpe Park has lots of fun fair type rides but all of them are at least £1 a go, per child.
The kids shows are the usual Haven stuff while the evening entertainment was not high calibre stuff but passable after a few pints if it floats your boat.
Overall, considering the price of our stay at Thorpe Park, it was overpriced for what we saw during our stay this time but what a shame, as it could so easy be the jewel in the crown for Haven.

Stayed here for our 1st campiing trip for 5 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed it , did not want to come home. Park is massive so plenty of room for kids to explore. Toilet/shower block were cleaned several times a day and were quite clean even after busy periods. Showers were on a timer but allowed plenty of time to shampoo/condition and wash. Fairly hot too especially spending an afternoon in the lazy river(outside pool).
Stayed on basic grass pitch bit flooded but had lots of rain prior to our visit.Pitching area quite dry , bit uneven and slightly like a wind tunnel but then again it could have been the position I pitched tent in (LOL). Am definitely looking to book again for next year and for longer this time.Would thoroughly recommend.

We stayed here for May day bank holiday weekend for the second time (1st time was June 2006).
On arrival we were told to pick our pitch and let them know what number we were. I thought that was brilliant, and it worked well.
We had a fantastic time, good weather, good food etc. There was some kind of football tournament on and lots and lots of teenage boys roaming around the park. This did become a bit of a problem towards midnight / eary hours as they were shouting, swearing etc a lot. My advice is get a pitch out the way! We stayed on a euro pitch, it had elec, water and own drain, but was too close to the walkway back from the pub.
The toilets were clean, showers were annoying as turned off all the time and were not hot! I couldn't wait to get out.
Spent the day at the pool there, had some great fun going down the water slides etc with the kids!
On site they hire out bikes with two seats for couples and 4 seats for familes. They cost £15 an hour but are such good fun. I'd definitely recommend hiring one. We hired two (big family you see) and had real fun racing etc! Big kids!
We went to Pleasure Island theme park (right next to Thorpe park) £58 for a family ticket. I didn't think that was bad at all. There were no queues and we got on everything there. The park caters for all ages.
On our last day (Bank hol Mon) we decided to go for breakfast. And so did the rest of the park! We joined the queue to order the food at the bar, but then as we stood there and waited we noticed others just going to various till points at the bar and ordering theirs! When we had finally got our order through we then had to join another queue to chose our breakfast! All in all it took about 50 mins to get it and it wasn't worth it.
The food at the pub is nice with various themed nights. Drinks are usual pub/club prices. Not cheap.
Entertainment staff work hard and the kids love it!
This is a brilliant park with excellent facilities. Definitely a must if you have children.

We visited Thorpe Park again last week for the fifth time! We have previously gone on the euro pitches but this time we were on grass electric. We once again really enjoyed our stay! The older toilet and shower block is still the best! All were clean but the fact of the sensors on the showers in the new block made things difficult.
We do not tend to eat out on the camp as can be really expensive. We ate out at The Trawlerman Carvery pub which is fantastic value for money. Also within a mile is the all you can eat Oriental Buffet.
The staff on the camp were all really helpful as always!
We are already looking to book for later in the year!

Arrived Friday evening for a 2 night break, when we arrived we could pick our own pitch which I thought was good, pitch nice size with plenty of room. The park is great for family's with young children plenty to do with-in the complex only down side to it is that you have to pay for the funfair your haven passes only get you into the complex and gives you use of the swiming pool. Shower block clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. Evening entertainment great for the little ones will booked again and stop a little longer next time.

This park is a must for families as it caters for everyone. We had a really good weekend even though the weather was rubbish (gale force winds and loads of rain) There was always something for us to do. We will definitely be returning to this site in the future. Toilets were spotless and showers lovely and hot but showers were on a sensor and therefore ended up gettin wet whilst trying to get dressed as I set them off again! (Just my luck!)
If I were to criticise the site all I would say is that the activities for the children seemed to be a tad expensive, and the electric kept blowing in the caravan but security were called and they sorted it out each time after a small wait.
All in all, lovely site, plenty to do, would defo visit again.

We only live 40 mins away by car so come here quite often although it is coming quite a popular site and gets booked up quickly. It is a large site with lots to do. The pool is great but does get busy, the entertainment is typical haven some good some not. Lots to do near by pleasore island near enough next door. Cinema down the road. Miniture train, boating lake, massive beach although better further down towards cleethorpes. All the usual fast food chains, some great little pubs and brilliant all you can eat chinese buffet at lakeside just down the road. I think this is one of havens better sites.

Visited this caravan on a bargain deal had the euro pitch, when we got there it was not a good sign check in was really confusing and not helpful at all really. When we finally got ato a pitch that was clean and the grass was not just sludge it was okay the pitch hardstanding was good but the hookup point was a long way so was quite a stretch for the electric cable and the tv lead and there are tv connections available on the euro pitchs. The toilet block is probably the worst I have seen on a haven site when you expect some standard. The actual club house etc was not really that good in all the bars was plastic glasses and very expensive. I must say I have herd that this has all changed and is worth a re visit I will be trying again as I like haven sites and it has direct beach access with dog area which is always a plus.

I visited this site at the end of October 2008 and Nov 2008. I was very impressed with the site from the brochure received and from the internet site which is what sold the holiday to me.
On arrival to the site the check in was prompt and staff polite. The entertainment package looked fantastic just what was needed to occupy the family.
We booked a superior plus caravan and this was very disappointing, it was damp, cold and with chipped crockery, mouldy net curtains and dirty carpets and dirty glass cabinets - in fact it was dreadful - I did complain but the site could not offer any other caravan - I did wonder what a standard caravan would have been like.
All that aside the park was lovely, swimming pool was great for the kids. The evening entertainment was well structured and the kids enjoyed it (so did the adults). The shops on site were well equipped for all needs.
The children's play areas were quite poorly maintained.
Nearby was the coast which was fine for kids to have a supervised run around/kite flying and this area was regularly monitored by coastal guards.
The Theme park was situated right outside the main entrance and was very reasonably priced and a great fun day out.
Overall the kids enjoyed the holiday during the day and at the evening entertainment however the holiday was let down by the poor standard of accommodation

We had to come to Cleethorpes due to a family problem - we live in Norfolk - and the static caravan -Fern Walk 4_ was quite superb.
The dog loved it, and the onsite food - fish and chips - was excellent and plentiful. I am greatly impressed.
I think I am being converted to static caravans as a main holiday.
Two problems. No teapot or jug which made life a bit difficult.
