This was our first visit to the gower camping.
We stayed here on the saturday and sunday night at the end of the school holidays in may. It was easy to find (we did have sat nav though!). The shop and the reception are in one unit, a wooden chalet. It wasn't very big but they did stock quite a lot at reasonable prices as well. The owner was really friendly and helped my girl friend in trying to find a shop that sold contact lens solution.
We had an electric pitch, these were marked out with a rope between each of these pitches. Plenty of space for our tent and car on this. The ground was flat and the electric point was very close. 16amp supply as well so never had any problems with tripping.
The showers and toilets are excellent. Very clean and mirrors and hooks above the sinks. The only slight issue was that you have to keep on pressing the shower button but as they are free I cant complain.
The washing up facilities are in a little wooden shed, again very clean but in the height of summer I expect there would be queues as there are only 5 or 6 sinks for the whole site. There is also a free freezer there where you can put what you like and you can also use the sites freezer blocks whilst you freeze your own.
The site was quite busy on the saturday night and it was a bit noisy. People still had music on after the 1030 time limit. Sunday night was much quieter though.
Its in a rural location with countryside views, about 15 min drive to rhossili (well worth a visit- lovely beach and worms head to see)
Llangenith beach is nearer only 5-10 minute drive but this all seemed to be part of the hillend park and looked extrmely busy so didn't pay the £3 to park there.
There's no playground or anything for the kids, a lot of them just kicked a football around the field or played frisbee.
Overall we enjoyed our break here but at £21 a night was quite expensive (high season price) we would return but would like to try three cliffs for the view.

Despite a largely wet weekend in a largely wet August that year the Kennoxstone campsite was still an enjoyable visit.
Staff were both friendly and helpful and the ground flat and easy to pitch a tent on.
True that the field entrances got rather muddy but as mentioned, this was a wet weekend during a wet month.
The surrounding scenery is very pleasing even if there are no sea views. Indeed it's location, a little inland, gives the site a bit more peace and quiet than was evident at at least some of the coastal sites in the area. And a bit tidier too.
The toilet/shower blocks are at a very satisfactory standard as are the rest of the facilities.
The site shop is fairly basic and there is a choice of fields to use.
The Gower is a quite contained area so nowhere takes too long to get to, especially from this site. Surfers and boogie borders will not be disappointed by the waves on the beaches here.

Spent another wonderful holiday at Kennexstone even though it did nothing but rain the whole time. The fields stood up the to the continual traffic that was travelling back and fro to the toilets, shop and showers. While I was there I didn't see any vehicles being towed off due to muddy fields. The staff were going around the fields every night checking for loud noise including radios, or anybody using bad language. I was there when 2 tents were told to leave, the couples started swearing and they were not on site very long. The campsite is a family site and providing us campers take other campers into consideration there shouldn't be any problems. The toilets and shower facilities were clean and the water hot, no complaints at all. The shop is well stocked with all the basics. I wish all campsites were as nice as this one will go back again

We stayed here for 1 night.
My first reaction on reaching the quagmire approach to the field, after being charged the highest fee of our holiday was to ask for a refund and look elsewhere.
However it was in a pleasant situation close to a reasonable road with no real traffic noise.
The reception was functional rather than friendly.
Toilets and showers were clean, but you needed another shower after paddling through mud- wellies or hiking boots are not so easy to put on after a shower!
Considering the fees some gravel or other surface should have been provided to make the approach to the fields safer.

Got back yesterday after spending the bank holiday weekend there.
What a brilliant site, shower blocks and toilets spotless and the site shop open all hours was well stocked(except booze).
As the weekend weather was a complete washout I was amazed at the drainage of the field we were in, no real boggy patches and still possible to drive in.
Stunning surroundings, and you cant beat the night sky in the Gower, you will never see that many stars anywhere else.
The greyhound inn and the britannia are both local pubs serving nice food and both have playgrounds for the kids.
Now the down side which I really have had to think hard about.
1. Showers weren't warm enough
2. They don't sell alcohol, but that's just me.
3. Although they have an exhaustive list of rules they don't seem to enforce them regarding noise after 11pm.
4. No park for the kids.
I think we have found a gem of a site and will be booking for next season definitely.

A site with a quite informal feel to it, situated just 2 miles from Broughton and llangennith beaches on the North Gower.
Owners and staff very friendly and helpful.
Site is spread over a few sloping fields which were struggling to cope with the amount of rain we have had this month, the uncut grass did not help.
Reception and small shop open till late selling essentials and not overly expensive. New toilet block was always clean, but the showers were too small and your dry kit got wet. The showers struggled to cope with the numbers on a packed site.
Separate outside wet suit shower.
This site allows fires as long as they are in a fire bowl and kept off the ground. Light pollution is non existant so when it's not raining the night skies can be spectacular. The site has a sensible attitude to people who want to sit out around a fire till late at night.
The nearest supermarket is CK's at Penclawdd, so you really have to plan well for food and drink. There is a small supermarket and garage at Llanrhidian, about 2 miles from the site, but that is quite expensive.
No pubs within safe walking distance, but The Greyhound, The King Arthur and The Kings Head all serve decent food and are within a short drive away.
I did not see this site in it's best light, on a wet and muddy bank holiday weekend, but would return so it must have been OK.

This was our first visit to the Gower and Kennexstone camping park.
A lovely site not too far from a nice beach and great pub.
The owners of the park were friendly and helpful and the onsite reception/shop was open til late every day, which was handy.
The pitches were adequately spaced with well defined markers.
The toilets and separate showers were new looking and spotless. Showers were warm but the screen was narrow so watch your clothes dont get wet. A separate area to rinse your wetsuits The laundry room is very basic.
The site is more for families, the gates are locked at 11pm which is good for security reasons. However we found it a bit restrictive as our children are grown up, its just myself and hubby and dog now, so we might have wanted to stay out a little longer. We found we came home quite early as the roads are quite tricky if you dont know your way around. Very narrow in some places and a lack of direction signs. We would not have coped without our satnav!
We stayed 3 nights and it rained constantly! As a result of this the ground was very muddy and the road tracks to the toilets had numerous large pot holes which at the time of our stay were water filled. Also it was very dark at night as there was no lighting so it was difficult to dodge the puddles. Ok if I had a torch like most of the other campers!
I would have liked to stay a while longer to find all the lovely places I'd read about and when the weather was nice.
Llanganith beach is a huge sandy beach with loads of shells on it. Dog friendly which is our priority as our bearded collie Oscar goes everywhere with us. The Kings Head pub nearby is a fantastic character pub, extremely friendly staff and great food including numerous kinds of curries. They even cooked a couple of sausages for Oscar!

What a fantastic site. For those who want a great base with easy access to the west Gower beaches you can't get better.
Broughton beach and Llangenith sands (Rhossilli) are both about 2 miles away and parking available for £3 per day at either just park and walk over the dunes.
We have holidayed in this area for over 30 years and have used other sites less well maintained for the sake of proximity to the beaches but never again. We will be returning here every year.
The last weekend of our stay the entire Gower was full. Although there were plenty of units on site there was still plenty of space for children to play and you didn't feel cramped.
The toilet and shower blocks are free and probably the cleanest I've seen (yet I never saw anyone cleaning).
I did see the campers queueing for washing up facilities at busy times but I feel sure that the lovely helpful and friendly folk that run this site will be dealing with this in due course.
I think electric hookups are probably in short supply at busy times but we had booked and had no problem.
A kids play area would have been the icing on the cake - but hey you can't have everything.
Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome on this site and there is an entirely separate area for exercising your dogs off lead well away from the pitches. This is really useful for dog owners who plan to take their pets out for the day on either of the above mentioned beaches which are both dog friendly but need to take them out in the morning before heading off.
In our opinion, this site is far cleaner, better kept, sheltered, level, less crowded than either of the other sites close by and the staff are fantastic.
There are at least 4 pubs within 5 miles all serve reasonable to excellent food. The site shop sells just about anything you need but for a real surprise, We recommend a visit to the little village owned Co-operative shop in Llanmadoc which sells local meats among many other unusual foodstuffs.

We just had a great weekend at Kennexstone. It was booked last minute and I think we were lucky that we booked as the Gower was full for the whole weekend according to the staff.
It was the first outing in our new Hartford XL pod tent. The site had no problems accommodating us and there were many more 'pod' style tents there too. Pitches were level although the area of the field we were in could have done with a cut of the grass. There are no allocated pitches and by Friday eve the place was very full but most people were very good about where they pitched and there was still loads of room for the kids to play.
The toilet blocks were very clean (7 stalls in the gents) but the standard did occasionally fall. The showers are free. The water was warm but not great. However there were only 4 showers in the gents and with the site so busy I felt there were too few to cope.
Dish washing facilities (again only 4 for the whole site) were clean and there was also a useful washer and tumble dryer in there. The freezer block exchange system however was a joke. Admittedly we should have taken a lot more blocks but the ageing freezer they are using can't cope. With so many people there, the lid on the freezer was open more than it was closed! We did leave some blocks in overnight and they still were not frozen the next morning. They could do with a better freezer or more EHU's. The ice cream man did make an appearance each and every night and must have done a booming trade.
The site is close to oxwich beach although we prefer the one at Caswell bay. In summary a great site for a short stay but not sure I'd do much longer without an EHU, especially with 2 kids (5 and 3)and no play park or other means of entertainment on-site.

Just came back from a fab weekend at Kennexstone.
The site was so relaxing. It is situated close to some of the most wonderful beaches in Wales. Great if you like to surf.
The pitches were level and not crammed as are many campsites. The children had plenty of space in which to play.
The shower and toilet blocks were the cleanest I have ever seen. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The reception / shop had everything you could need from calpol to bacon to a cricket set.
We were very lucky with the weather as the sun shone all weekend. We really had a lovely break and hope to return there very soon.
