Visited Kennexstone for 2 nights middle of August from a Thursday to Saturday. We were quite lucky as the weather stayed dry mostly for the entire trip. Nice quiet site though even though it did get quite full on the Friday. Choice of two fields for tents - as we have kids we were directed to what we were told was the family field. There was a mixture of caravans and some tents around the outside of the field, some with electric hook-ups and the rest of the field was taken up with other tents. Seemed to be a policy of find your own pitch (not marked) in the middle of the field but that was fine. Field itself was fine and fairly level. Staff seemed very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Be warned that this part of the Gower is very rural and some roads / lanes are very narrow. Our kids were a little bit bored as there was no park / play area for them but the usual football / badminton / kite flying etc. Keeps them happy. Toilets / showers perfectly adequate. Its quite a large site in terms of number of pitches but there were only 4 male showers so there was some queuing but nothing excessive. As others have said, on site shop is ok and was open until very late. Not much close by unless you are used to fairly long walks. Nearest pub I believe would have been around a mile and half away. Recommended if you like a fairly quiet and rural site.

Kennexstone is a very well run, clean site with a great on site shop that sells everything you could need from air beds to loo rolls to toys for the children to ice creams too. They have very helpful staff on site for over 12 hours a day that are only happy to help and give advice and are easily spotted by their uniforms. They have nice clean toilets and shower blocks that seem new and well maintained, on weekends cues to the showers are ten deep with only 6 showers for the women and 4 for the men with even fewer toilets. The toilet areas have sockets for hair driers and straighteners and are well stocked with soap etc. During the week the extra toilets are closed due to the lack of demand, but are really needed with the number of families still there. On arrival the site stood out to be very professionally run, though once heading towards the pitch it seemed the site was far too crowded with many, many smaller tents packed into tight groups. It was fairly hectic and the noise levels high due to surfer types and young couples that seemed to be there for the beach life, bbq's and drinking. To get to the toilets we had to cross peoples pitches and walk through their camps because it was so densely packed, it was a fair walk for our young children and a little intimidating to do so as well. Sunday the site became fairly empty and seemed to calm down and become peaceful which was nice. There were no facilities for our children, we were very lucky to have taken plenty of toys and entertainment for them because the site only provided free run of the grass. The surrounding areas were outstanding, the beaches were fabulous and the drives magnificent, it was fairly easy to find shops and facilities outside the camp, though hard to find the camp on the way back in due to the lack of signs and directions prompting you to turn off for Kennexstone Farm, we continually drove past and didn't notice we had passed our turn, thanks to sat nav we finally got home to our tent. All in all the camp site was a good all rounder and very relaxing, but for us it was more of a surfers/students/couples camp and not really suitable for family get aways.

Just had a two night stay at Kennexstone, a decision taken at the last minute even though the forecast for the Saturday night included a severe weather warning! This was our second time camping with two young boys (aged 2 & 5). We had to pay for 5 people as we had a 3 bed tent. The family field was flat and there was room for the children to play. Initially I didn't like the fact we had to pitch in the middle of the field and not next to a hedge but actually this was not a problem. A camper van arrived at gone 10.30 on Friday night and pitched right next to us, I didn't appreciate the bad language but thankfully they left Saturday morning. The toilet and shower facilities were spotlessly clean and we never had to queue for either. There was a small queue for washing up on Sunday morning. The freezer was a welcome surprise, don't expect to be able to use the campsites packs as they were all out just bring plenty of extras to freeze. The shop was well stocked (the local butchers burgaer were very tasty). I didn't like the stated departure time of 12.00 especially after a wet night but we left at 1.30 without it being a problem. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

First rate site, spotless facilities, flat pitches. What more could you want. A nice quiet family site in the heart of the Gower. Well worth a visit. The shop is small, but clean, tidy, and well stocked, with reasonable prices Plenty to do for the family in the area.

Just visited Kennexstone for 3 nights over the May Day Bank Holiday, I wasn't sure where to go as I'd never been to the Gower before. I chose this one because previous reviews said clean facilities, and it had flat pitches. well that was true, the facilities were excellent and the pitches flat. But better than than what a quite site. I don't mean no people as it must have been full on Saturday, I mean the respect that the other Campers had for each other. Kennexstone has a policy of no late night music and no traffic after 11:00 pm. This realy worked well. The site is also very central on the Gower so great for exploring especially if you like walking as I do. There is only one reason that would prevent me from recommending this site. I do want everyone else there when I come back, I definitely wil, if you decide to go you wont be disappointed. PS: I initially thought about going to Hillend before my trip. I'm glad that I didn't go there, not because it's not a good site. It looks great fun, but for the Younger Surf Dudes who want to part a bit.

An example of how a site should be run. Friendly enthusiastic staff/ owners. Clean well maintained facilities. Shop open all hours (almost!). Great location with walking and beaches nearby. Very full on weekends but pleasant atmosphere. RECOMMENDED!

When we booked 4 days beforehand Vicky could not have been more helpful, as we needed disabled facilities with wheelchair access she told us no problems .We drove down overnight from nth Linc's, with Angus our westie first time away for him. We arrived mid morning sat and Vicky and Rodrig made us welcome told us where out pitch was, [just above the shower block] and where everything was if we needed anything just pop back to reception and ask . We had booked for 10 days but after 5 we booked an extra 3. Angus was loving it new places new smells he was in heaven and new friends Disabled toilets and shower marks out of 100 well 98, Rodrig ,Spike said can you put a mirror in please and lengthen the light pull cord then you can have 100 out of 100 , showers toilets and disabled facilities were great, the whole site well looked after thanks Rodrig/Vicky we had a great time

Excellent site for exploring the Gower. The toilets and showers were very clean plenty of toilet roll and loads of hot water.Never had to que once for either. I found the washing machine and tumble dryer useful. The little on site shop had all you little daily supplies all the staff I came across were very friendly. All noise died down about 10.30. Lovely site and would happily return.

We visited Kennexstone Camping Park twice during early August for 4 days each stay, both spanning a weekend.
Arriving on a Thursday was a good idea as we had a good choice of where to pitch our tent on the family field. The site did fill up significantly on the weekend although there was still a decent space between tents.
The facilities were excellent, with new and very clean shower and toilet blocks. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
We liked the site so much we have booked in again for September.

Just spent 1st weekend of school holidays here. Facilities are lovely and clean and site very level. This site is well place for exploring The Gower. Campsite did become full on Friday and Saturday, which the lovely new faciltities didnt cope with - lots of queing for ladies showers. We were not in the family field but next one, became very crowded, not a lot of room between some tents! The 10 mph speed limit ignored by some passing through to 3rd field! All in all very good site, well worth a visit.
