Lovely, clean, well maintained site.
Very well kept grass pitches (some have a hard standing, but still plenty of grass on these pitches).
Nice on site doggy walking area.
Even when fairly full, the site doesn't have an overly busy feel. Showers & toilet facilities are nice enough and kept clean.
Owners are very friendly, helpful and have the personal touch.
Very helpful in recommending local sites and restaurants etc (Our faves so far are The Froize Inn, Chillesford and The Crown, Alderton.

Again, second visit and all is as Was?
Great site, great owners.
Good touring area with plenty to see and do.
Will recommend this site to anyone visiting the area.
Another great holiday here.
Don't forget to walk the heathland for dragonflies and butterflies.

We have just spent a week at Run Cottage on a grass pitch with ehu, no groundsheets are allowed, not even breathable ones, there are some hard standing pitches a lot of which seemed to be seasonal. It is a very neat and tidy site and although children are allowed I would say they are not encouraged as there are no facilities for them and the pond and stream are not fenced. Although the dog area is described as secure a small dog or puppy could get out. If like us you are staying at the back of the site then you will have a longer than I would have liked walk to use the toilets, showers, water or rubbish bins, the owners told us that they applied to add more facilities at the back of the site but were refused permission. There is a nice little kiosk with loads of information and an honesty book and DVD borrow facility. The village has a pub, where we ate twice, the food was good and your dog will be made welcome in the bar or back garden, there is also a village shop/post office and a fish and chip van stops by the village hall on a Friday teatime. Nearby we went to The Rumsholt Arms, very nice food and you can sit outside by the river, we also visited Bawdsey Quay, Orford, Woodbridge and The Suffolk Punch Trust. All in all a nice site in a lovely area on the edge of forest and near the sea.

This was our 1st time visiting Suffolk and Run Cottage, it is a really beautiful site. Immaculately kept grounds and pitches, we were on a grass pitch which was large and where the grass is kept short. The site is not too big so wouldn't feel overcrowded when all the pitches were full. The owners are really friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble, they made up a new TV aerial lead when the one they gave us was too short. The facilities were modern and clean, there are two showers for male and female and two unisex wet rooms. My only concern is that this might not be enough when the site is full ? It is a great base for visiting Southwold, Aldebrough, and other places along the coast. Shingle Street is within walking distance and is a hidden gem.
There is a local supermarket and pub in the village (Hollesley) and the food at the pub is good, they also have a specials board.

This is an immaculately kept site with some of the friendliest owners I have come across. There are no hardstandings, but the ground is very firm and free draining, so no problems there! There is lots to see and do within easy reach of the site. Sutton Hoo is well worth your time, and Aldeburgh is a perrenial favourite. If you have bikes, take the little ferry from Bawdsey to Felixstowe which we really enjoyed.
It seems carping to raise any negatives, but attention to some minor points would change the site from exceptional to perfect.
As others have said, it is a major trek from anywhere on the site to the shared waste water and CDP. Having arrived there, it is almost impossible to empty either container without splashing yourself. Second, the layout of some pitches on the original part of the site means that people are constantly walking past the door of your van to reach the facilities. Neither of these issues would stop us visiting again, and they are easily remedied.

We have stayed at his site before, its always a very warm welcome from the owners. When we arrived we were shown a quite pitch as requested (to be honest, there is not a bad pitch on the site). The site is very well kept, good enclosed dog walking area. The toilets are warm, clean and I don't think I had to wait to use a shower the whole time I was at the site. We visit the local forests to walk our dogs, which are only 5 mins drive away. The local pub is not that amazing but a couple of miles away is the Sorrel Horse, which serves great food but more importantly great ales.
Will return to this site again and again

Originally intended to stay for two nights but ended up spending the whole week as the site and hospitality from the owners was excellent, so much to do in the area with a great help from the owners and the weather was superb, we will stay again, without hesitation.

Lovely friendly campsite with very spacious pitches and good facilities, although at busy periods, only having the one toilet block/facilities and fresh water point was not really adequate; we often had to wait to empty waste, fill Aqua roll or even just to wash up. But this by no means would put us off visiting again as the campsite really is lovely, landscaped well and in a truly beautiful area of outstanding natural beauty. There is so much to see and do, it's hard to fit everything in! I would not hesitate to recommend Run Cottage and would return again if we are staying in the area.

We stayed at this well cared for site for a few days to visit NT places where we knew we would be able to park our small motorhome. Sutton Hoo (excellent display hall & walk around the site) & Flatford (Extremely busy on the Sunday) The site facilities are at the entrance & were clean. The Ladies & Gents each had 2 loos 2 showers & 2 sinks (all push button) There were also 2 separate unisex shower rooms. There were 2 washing up sinks in the room with a washing machine & dryer. There is also a well stocked information hut with leaflets/ books/ mags/ dvd's. Pitches were of a good size (slight slope)some grass & some hard standing. There are 2 camping pods & some tents were accommodated in addition to the 45 pitches. Did not notice a play area or dog walk. There is 1 tap & no specific motorhome point. Cannot comment on the pub & shop in the village as we did not use them. We did not have tv reception though Sat dishes & some ariels were OK. £2 per day to use the site freeview which we didn't use so can't comment on. Not really near tourist attractions except Suffolk Punch Trust. Points to note. No groundsheets allowed. Pond on site. Owners dog wanders around site.

Beautiful site. Absolutely immaculate. All facilities are first class. The wardens are friendly, helpful and discreet. They are there if you need them but otherwise maintain a low profile. When I phoned to book, there was no answer but literally within minutes of my putting the phone down, the warden had rung me back on seeing an unanswered call. That's an indication of how professional they are.
Some reviewers have mentioned the 'no awning ground sheet' policy as an unwelcome negative and have made it seem that the wardens are constantly doing spot checks. This is not the case. It is clearly posted on their website and there is one polite reminder in the toilet block but other than that, they rely on you being respectful of their wishes. And there really is no need for one. The grass is beautifully maintained and kept very short. They obviously collect the grass clippings as we had very little migrating into our camper.
This is such a peaceful site; the only sounds are the odd car or tractor passing in the lane, owls hooting at night and the nearby church bells ringing. Bliss! Even the children and dogs on the site were very well behaved. In fact, this is one of the friendliest sites we have stayed on - everyone had time for a quick chat if you so wished. We have read lots about the friendliness of campers but actually have only found it to be so on this and one other site (so far). I have marked Run Cottage down slightly for child friendliness - not because they're anti-children (far from it) but because there aren't additional facilities for children. For me personally that's not an issue - camping for me is family time and allowing children freedom to entertain themselves. If you want playgrounds, swimming pools, children's entertainers etc go to a big commercial site. This site is perfect as it is thank you very much.
A 5 minute walk into Hollesley provides a pub and local shop - the Hollesley Shopper which has everything you need. We didn't try the pub as we prefer the very friendly Sorrel Horse (a community run pub) in nearby Shottisham (a 5 minute drive) and the Ramsholt Arms on the banks of the river Deben. Both serve a good range of reasonably priced (not cheap) food.
This was our first time at Run Cottage but it won't be our last. This is a site we will return to again and again.
(But please could you extend the time the button showers last for. 😉)
