This is probably the prettiest site we have used. There was a warm welcome from the owner and she walked us to an area and left us to chose exactly where we wanted to pitch. Obviously we had to be near a hook up, but we positioned ourselves under the trees and next to the lake. This is a small, intimate site with a lovely tranquil atmosphere. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent. Even the dog exercise area is well kept and nicely laid out (and there's no extra charge for the dog!). There were a couple of things that didn't suit us so well. Tv reception was very poor, although we could have moved to another pitch equipped with satellite for an extra £2. There is not much in the way of buses. The walk back into the village wasn't far, but there was no pavement for the first few hundred yards. The local pub was nice, food was good and it was dog friendly. The local shop was well stocked. There are no special facilities here for children. This area is designated as one of outstanding natural beauty, there are plenty of dog walks and the coastal areas are quiet and atmospheric.

Stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the site. Good shower/toilet block including two unisex cubicles which each have a spacious shower, toilet and wash basin ( they are popular so you need to get in early morning if you want to be sure of getting one ). One disappointment was that the 2 acre dog walk was 'out-of-bounds' while we were there because there were sheep in it. An alternative was provided in part of what looked like the owner's ( very large ) garden which was quite o. K. For our old dog but would be a disappointment if you have an active dog and was expecting the dog walk as advertised. Therefore best to check on that when booking.
The pitches are split between hardstanding and grass and reasonably spaced out.
Hollesley village is just a short walk away where there is a pub - the Shepherd and Dog - whose owner allows dogs inside although there is also a few benches and chairs outside. There is also a small general store in the village ( we did not use it ). There is a 'dial-a-bus' service through the village which runs to Woodbridge and Offord; you ring ( 08456041802 ) to say when roughly you want to go and they tell you what is available. The bus will pick you up outside the site entrance. Takes about 20 minutes to Woodbridge; a great service but you need to book a few days in advance to make sure of getting a seat - I booked the day before and although we got seats to Woodbridge, the service to Offord was fully booked. You can also walk from the village on cross-country public footpaths to the Suffolk Punch Trust to see an interesting selection of old fashioned horses ( and a few pigs ) with a small museum of country life.

We visited this site in June 2014 as a result of it winning a Practical Caravan magazine regional award. The setting was lovely, large pitches in a rural landscape. But we found it had a number of drawbacks that would prevent us from revisiting. By far the most important was the loud explosions from gas gun bird scarers in nearby fields. Starting at 5am they exploded every fifteen minutes or so until dusk, making the promised 'peace & tranquillity' claim redundant. Not the owners fault, of course, but this alone prevents us from revisiting. I don't go on holiday to listen to cannon fire. The road and hard standing surfaces looked as if they had been constructed out of old railway track ballast - large stones making for an uneven dusty surface that was unpleasant to use. The combined chemical toilet and waste water emptying point was in a small cupboard up a ramp. I found it impossible to empty without splashing some of the contents over my shoes. The owners dogs were allowed to roam free across the site which encouraged other dog owners to allow their pets the same freedom. I saw dogs urinating on the trees on the site rather than using the dog walk. The individual pitches are very large, the drawback being that some of caravan neighbours thought it was alright to walk across our pitch instead of using the site road - a saving of only a few yards. Although the site advertised nearby walks, access could only be obtained by braving the traffic on the narrow road outside the site which had no footpath and a blind bend. There is no wi-fi or TV signal, essential requirements in my opinion in this day & age. I had to pay the site owners £2 extra per day for a satellite hook-up because of this basic facility shortfall.

What a beautiful and peaceful site! We stayed for just a couple of days, and will be back for a longer stay next time. The site is nicely laid out, with plenty of room for each pitch. The landscaping makes you feel as if you're in a country park. We were fortunate enough to have a view of the small lake, but each pitch has a pleasant aspect.
The toilet facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful to us.
We visited Woodbridge and Sutton Hoo, both well worth the trip. Hollesley, the local village, has an excellent local shop, and the Dog & Shepherd pub is friendly and highly recommended.

We have just had 2 nights here as a first camp of the year treat. The grounds are beautifully kept and some lovely touches in the grounds, including the clematis growing up the trees. We were camping with friends and were given a lovely corner with hook ups for both tents, not far from the toilet and shower block with a lovely view across the site. Lots of space. Everything clean and well maintained. Very dog friendly. A choice of two unisex wet rooms or shower cubicles in the male and female toilets. Hot water good, although quite a short burst before the timer cut out and you have to press the button again to get water. A small annoyance when rinsing shampoo off of my medium length hair I had to press 3 times before fully gone.
Local shop was modern and well stocked. We don't live too far away so we didn't feel a need to venture out but it is a nice area and would recommend Sutton Heath for walking.
Such a shame that they hadn't used a grass box of some sort when they mowed, as the grass cuttings got everywhere! I am not a 'house proud' camper and expect a little bit of the outdoors to come in, but I needed to sweep twice a day just to stop the inside of the tent turning green. It covered all our shoes, clothes and of course all our equipment so packing up was fun! And the toilets and showers were hard to keep clean because of it. A lovely site but we probably wouldn't go back because of the cut grass challenge - I just don't want to work that hard when I go away!

Just spent a few days at Run Cottage, the site was very well laid out and maintained. Good selection of pitches all seemed very generous in size. The toilet and showers were clean and adequate, not a big lover of having to keep pressing the button to keep the water flowing.
The site owners were welcoming, but not intrusive, made for a very relaxing stay. Surprised to see that they don't allow ground sheets of any kind on grass, but knew this before I booked, so not a problem, as I didn't intend to put the awning up just for a few nights.
Walked to the local pub for a drink, like the local shop it was about a 10 min walk.
Would certainly re-visit but would go for hard standing next time

Just spent 2 nights at Run Cottage, what a delightful place!
Nice and quiet, spotless showers and toilets.
The sites owners are extremely pleasant and there is a good pub that does good food 600 m down the country lane also with a well stoked local shop and post office. - what more could you want!
If the site was fully booked there would probably be a wait for the 2 showers and toilets for each of the mens and woman's facilities, but this is a small negative.

First time visiting the area and this turned out to be a very good choice of campsite on which to stay for nearly two weeks.
Very friendly welcome and considerate to us and out two young children. Facilities were clean and adequate for the number on the site though it would appear that the owner was fitting out two further shower/toilet rooms at the time of our stay. As a family we used the large disabled shower room that was great for us and the young ones as the other shower cubicles just fitted one.
The area is wonderful with much to see and do.
We would recommend visiting the coast at shingle shore, Offord, Aldeburgh and Thorpeness and visiting Framlingham, Offord and Felixstowe castles/forts. Also a day in the nearby forest is great for the family.
We did need to drive out much of the time though a few walks into the village were pleasant and the kids enjoyed the sparse playground at the village hall. We did visit the pub in the village for a Monday lunch when we had guests and this was the only down side to our stay - we can not recommend this pub to anyone as the service and food was the worst we have ever encountered, no wonder local pubs are closing down and we wouldn't miss this one!
Thoroughly recommend the site and the area and already planning a visit for next year before heading off to the nearby Folk East 2014.

We stayed 3 nights mid July, very hot!
Good site clean well run and friendly, nothing to much trouble for the host!
I noticed a crack in one of hand basins in the gents one day, the next morning there was a hole in the basin, we left for the day and when returned late afternoon the whole basin had been replaced with a new one!
This is a good location of you want to get away from the rat race, roads very quiet and nice to take the bikes out to Bawdsey Point. The cafe there does a nice lunch.
Local pub and shop very good a short walk away.
We will go back there as not too far from home and gave us a nice easy short break.

Brilliant, this site is immaculate. Everything is clean and tidy, owner is very friendly. The toilet block is one of the tidiest I have seen. A new block is now being built.
Location is perfect for the countryside and beach not too far. Site is near Bawdsey where you can get great cream teas and sit on the beach.
Nice dog walk although not big but pleasant enough. Nice pub with great food within walking distance down the rd.
Cable tv is available to plots at a good price. Very very peaceful and dark skies. Brilliant value, ,
