Just ended a 10 night stay on this site for the first time.
Already planning next year's visit.
Warmly received by Andy & Michelle.
Shown to a hardstanding pitch which was amply big enough for our van and awning.
Facilities found to be spotless and more than adequate, there is even a 'free' book, dvd, and cd Library!
Loads to see in the area and plenty of local walks.
Really pleased and surprised to find such a nice site in such a fine location, not often just the two get together.
Five stars from us two !

Friendly welcoming owners, camp site was immaculate and very quiet (except for the dawn chorus). The toilet block was very clean and stylish, there were washing up facilities again very clean and a hut full of tourist information. I had electric hookup with my tent and the prices were very reasonable. It is not far from the ancient burial site of Sutton Hoo worth a visit and not far from the Suffolk coast. There are several nice pubs within a short driving distance and the site is near to the lovely towns of Woodbridge and Orford which has a castle.
A must to stay here if you want to visit the area.

We had a lovely weekend at Run Cottage. The Owners were very friendly and welcoming and the site was very attractive and was immaculate. It was extremely well set out and with excellent facilities. Our hard standing pitch was a good size and we had lovely views. There was a room just off the facilities which contained lots of useful information and maps. The village Church provided a pretty tune of the bells along with Owls hooting once it got dark. The surrounding are was very nice with a visit to the Ramsholt Arms pub and a cycle to Shingle Street where we watched Kite Surfing. We have two young boys and we all had a great time and will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

What a gem! Smashing campsite this one, and great value for money, it's a nice feeling knowing you're not having every last penny squeezed out of you! (Unlike the site we were on the week previous to coming here).
All we can do is echo what's already been said, it's very well maintained, showers/wc immaculate, excellent hut with loads of local info in it. Poor if any TV reception, but not a big deal, hire a freesat box for £2 a day from reception, problem solved.
There was a dispute at the local pub, hence it was closed during our stay, not the sites fault obviously, but we like a pub within walking distance, so this was a bit disappointing. There are however a few pubs within a short drive, we found the Sorrell Horse, what a great pub that was, and the Swan Inn, which had an Indian restaurant attached to it, another smashing place, not expensive, and loads of character. Run Cottage is a great base, there is so much to do in the area, Sutton Hoo is not far, Orford Ness is close, both really interesting, both National Trust. The local town, Woodbridge didn't particularly impress, but Saxmundem and Southwold are not too far and we liked both of them. Too much to do in a week, so will we go back there, next year without fail, excellent site.

I stayed at Run Cottage in late September 2015 as part of a motorhome tour of Norfolk & Suffolk. Apart from location, I was attracted by its Practical Caravan Regional Award status, something the owners make great play of. My observations follow: -
Firstly, the positives: -
Run Cottage is located on the outskirts of a quiet rural village, is surrounded by mature trees and is set in attractive grounds appearing well maintained with manicured lawns and flower beds.
The toilet and shower facilities are well presented externally with internal fittings that are both clean and modern.
There is a well-stocked information hut on site with local guides and a selection of DVDs and paperbacks which may be borrowed or exchanged by guests.
The basic site fees are comparatively good value
Now, regrettably, the negatives: -
Whilst the majority of pitches are on grass, the site does have 14 hard-standing pitches. Unfortunately approximately 50% of these seem to be dedicated seasonal pitches and therefore not available to normal touring users.
The site's meticulously manicured grass comes at a cost. As you might gather from the Run Cottage's literature, the owners are averse to the use of ground sheets. Anyone found using one (regardless of whether or not it is breathable) either within an awning or outside may, in the owners' own words, be asked to leave the site without any refund being provided. I would strongly recommend that the owners give serious consideration to significantly increasing the number of hard-standing pitches available to touring customers. Doing so would obviate the need for customers to drive over or trample the grass, avoiding frustration to the owners and campers alike.
There is no wi-fi available on site nor is there a 3G or 4G signal in the area. Anyone staying at Run Cottage expecting to browse local attractions via 'the Web' would be well advised to research and set their itinerary before arriving.
Television reception was extremely poor with frequent loss of signal and pixelation. A Freesat connection is however available from the owners at a supplementary cost of £2. 00 per day.
The site’s literature advertises its proximity to a friendly local pub serving traditional home-cooked food. Unfortunately, as of September 2015 the pub no longer serves food (the landlord says that customers are welcome to bring their own sandwiches though). Free internet access advertised by the pub is no longer available. The barman explained that they have recently been disconnected by their ISP for non-payment of bills!
Whilst we found the toilet facilities OK, the number of toilet cubicles and showers is marginal for a site with 45 pitches. Frequent mowing results in clods of grass on the floor of the 'facilities'. No squeegees are provided for use in the showers (only a mop and bucket). This results in the slate floors in the unisex washrooms remaining wet and slippery.
Contrary to other reviewers’ comments I was disappointed with the inter-personal skills of the owner of the site. When booking some 6 weeks in advance of our stay my wife explained to the owner that our inflatable awning had a sewn-in ground-sheet. She was told that, as we were only staying for 4 days, we would be placed on a hard-standing pitch where the awning could be erected. On arrival we were directed to a very wet grass pitch so had to abandon our plans to use the awning. When my wife reminded the owner that, at the time of booking, she had been told that we would be placed on a hard-standing pitch he very assertedly implied that she was 'being disingenuous' as he would never take a booking specifically for a hard-standing pitch. It took the tact to defuse what was starting to develop into a rather acrimonious exchange. Perhaps we just caught this gentleman on a bad day!
Motorhome users dependent upon the use of public transport to explore the area would do well to note that Hollesley's scheduled bus service is sparse and infrequent. It is however possible to use a 'dial a bus' service to run you the 6 miles into Woodbridge if you are really stranded.
I'm sure that Run Cottage is valued by many of its regular users for its remoteness, tranquillity and rural setting and I understand and respect that. I do however feel that newcomers to the site should be aware of its restrictions and limitations. Whilst we shall not be staying at Run Cottage again, by paying a little attention to some of the shortfalls outlined above the owners would improve future customers' experiences as well as the site's reputation.

Booked our visit to this site on a bit of a whim but I'm very glad we did. On arrival we received a friendly greeting and given a quick tour of the park and our pitch. We were told to expect bad weather bur advised that our pitch was the most sheltered they had tucked in nicely behind a barn and next to a tall hedge. We were then pleasantly surprised to be shown our electric hook up point and informed if we didn't have a long enough cable we could burrow one. Given we didn't know electricity was included this was very welcome news!
The facilities on site were fantastic and clean, the showers hot and there was a lovely information hut well stocked with leaflets, books and DVDs that anybody could burrow.
Local facilities were decent, with a small shop with the basic supplies and a few towns not too far to drive.
We only stayed 2 nights but were spoilt for chose with activities. We settled with a visit to Framingham castle, the owl sanctuary and a late night walk around Sutton heath, deer and bat spotting. The following day we visited shingle street beach which was a lovely unspoilt shingle beach, great for a walk and nature spotting but not one for having a dip in the sea with kids but there were sandy beaches nearby which would have been perfect for this.
We had such a great time we are seriously considering returning for another visit.
The only thing that would have completed the trip for us would have been WiFi on site but that's a very insignificant issue.

A very nice site and very welcoming and helpful site owner.
We had a grass pitch that was pretty flat and spacious. We hired a satellite box off the owner for £2 a night which was good cos the tv reception is none existent. The toilets/showers were of a high standard and spotless. There were only 2 toilets and showers in the gents which I thought woudnt be enough but then there are two unisex shower/toilet rooms and considering the site was full just about every day we were there I necer saw any queues at all.
Theres a small supermarket just in the village and the pub which was ok if a little on the expensive side(£3. 20 for a pint of tetleys). We did have a meal there which was ok, not fantastic but edible.
The site is well away from anywhere, very peaceful.
There were a few permenantly sited tourers, some of who I would call ten bob millionaires, looking down their noses at people.
All in all we enjoyed our 5 nights there.

Nice welcome and shown pitch promptly, good size pitch and nice to be told we could put our van anyway we liked within the markers. Only used shower and loos and were always clean and never had to wait for a shower. Level pitches. Small supermarket in village a short walk away as was pub.
Pond might be a worry if you have young ones and it is pig farming country so expect country fresh air.

Wonderful site, beautifully landscaped with lots of trees and shrubs and flowers. Large and well-kept pitches, lots of space. Immaculately maintained in all areas. Very clean everywhere, excellent recycling facilities. Great washing up room with washing machine and tumble drier. Plenty of hot water every time we needed it for showers and washing pots. Peaceful location, yet lots of places to visit within an easy drive. Andy and Michelle were friendly and welcoming, and must work very hard to keep the site so pristine, but they never appeared stressed or short of time. We liked this site more than any we've ever stayed on, and will definitely return.

This is a first class touring park. The standard of the park and all its facilities are quite simply superb. Attention to detail is clearly paramount to the owners. The pitches are large, very well maintained and in a beautiful setting. The dog walk area is large, fully enclosed and, again, very well maintained. The toilet/shower block are of a high standard and we particularly liked the 2 family bathrooms which have a shower, toilet and basin. There is endless hot water in well equipped facilities. There is a lovely information room which is really well stocked. Don't be put off by the no groundsheet policy, we were initially surprised as most of us use groundsheets but it's actually really nice to have grass as your carpet in the awning. The owners describe the grass as being like your lawn at home and they're right, they mow it frequently and maintain it really well.
We would highly recommend The Dog & Shepherd, the local pub in the village. It's a short and pleasant walk to the pub where you will get really good, reasonably priced food and a great selection of real ales. It's very dog friendly both inside, appropriately apart from the restaurant, and in the garden. The landlord, landlady and locals are really welcoming and friendly and will happily give you interesting and helpful information about the local area. We obtained a book of local walks around the Deben. They are lovely walks in a very beautiful area.
We had the misfortune to have a car accident during our holiday. The owners, Andy and Michelle could not have been more helpful and supportive. We would highly recommend this site, it's definitely in our top 3 nationwide. Thanks Andy & Michelle for a fabulous place to stay.
