We stayed here for 8 nights over the Whit week half term. As we have a tent we were on the farm camping and caravan site. This part allows children - there were loads! There is an adults only caravan and motorhome site called the walled garden too.

The pitches are huge. You don't feel hemmed in. The kids (and adults at times) played ball games in the middle of the field.

There are some notices with rules but, in general, it's a fairly laid-back site. The facilities were two toilets and two showers in both the ladies and gents. The showers are really good - best campsite showers we've used so far. Although with the sand from the beach they can flood at times.

I only had to wait once for a shower, never for the loo and my hubby never waited at all. Not bad for a full site. The laundry and utility room had two sinks, two washers and two dryers. There is a charge for the machines. I was always alone washing up!

The location is brilliant. Just over the road is the beach which is quiet and dog friendly. We walked on it nearly every day and sat on it on the Sunday. It is about a mile either way to Beadnell or Seahouses. You can walk to either on the beach or along the roadside pavement or via footpaths. One of our dogs is old now and has to ride in a buggy some of the time -the pavements were very good for this purpose.

We were underwhelmed with the Craster Arms at Beadnell - too busy and poor beer selection! The Olde Ship Inn at Seahouses had brilliant beer but only allowed dogs in the garden. So good for lunch on a sunny day but no good for dinner when it got cooler.

We went to Warkworth Castle, Bamburgh Beach, Etal Castle, Lindisfarne Priory, a Grey Seal Cruise with Serenity Cruises around the Farne Islands. The butchers in Bamburgh is superb if you fancy cooking rather than the pubs. We did and barbecued twice. Also brought some home.

At £20 per night including EHU we thought the site was good value given the facilities and space. We have paid more for less of both!

Overall a fab site and we will go back. Booking essential.

I reviewed this site last year and said we would be back. Well we have been twice this year :) Both times on the main campsite as we have a tent. First time with our son for a week, second time just me and hubby for a weekend.

This is a lovely site on the Northumberland coast, just a few mins walk to the beach. The site has plenty of space with pitches round the edge and loads of room for kids to play in the middle.

We were further down the site this year so further to walk to the facilities, two mins according to my hubby :) Never had to wait for a toilet or shower, hubby did so not sure if I was just lucky.

The fact that we spent a week there in August and it is where hubby and I decided to go for our weekend escape says a lot about both the site and the area.

We will be back next year :)

We stayed in the Walled Garden, which has spacious pitches for 8 units, adults only. Ours was next to the water tap, so people were coming past regularly and we needed to park slightly closer to the next van (which appeared to be a seasonal) than we would normally, just so we had room for our awning and for people to get to the tap.

The advantage was that we were also near the toilet/shower, which meant we knew when it was busy and when it was free. There is one shower and one toilet, both clean and providing hot water. There are also a couple of dishwashing sinks. You can get to each facility if another is busy, but until you go into the room you don't know what the last person entered to use.

There is also a larger toilet block with a laundry (remember to check the condenser on the tumble drier is empty!) by the other part of the campsite, so you can use that too.

As others have said, there is a sign on entrance telling you which pitch to take, and otherwise no-one comes to check you've arrived or take your money. I knocked on the Farmhouse door a couple of days in to pay. And we guessed that the waste water went into the drain in the yard between the two campsites - there were no signs and no-one to ask.

You can easily walk into either Seahouses or Beadnell, by beach or via the footpath by the road. You can reach the beach immediately opposite the farm and across the dunes.

There isn't a whole lot to Seahouses and only a small Co-op supermarket, but it has a few hotels, pubs and restaurants. We went to The Bamburgh Castle Hotel and sat in the garden, overlooking the sea and harbour. We walked to Bamburgh itself too (6 miles), thinking we could go by beach, but the tide came in. The 'coastal path' is quite inland and the last stretch went through a field of cows with calves (a no-go zone if you have a dog, as we do). We'd missed that path by going via the beach anyway, and had to walk the last few miles by the road (no path). We got the bus back to Seahouses.

I would have liked to have tried The Craster Arms in Beadnell but we didn't get the chance during our stay.

This is a site that we'd go back to, and if they installed super pitch taps and waste in the Walled Garden, they could charge even more. It would really make that area more special.

Stayed in the walled garden, having booked via email. Quiet and relaxing spot. Road noise during the day but fine at night. Just over the road from a beach which had hardly anyone on.

There is also a footpath which runs through the farm so perfect for dog walks although sadly some people still think it's ok to not clear up after their dog. Very tidy farmyard and rarely saw anyone. Pitch number on board on arrival and paid balance at farmhouse but didn't ever see the owner.

Facilities good in walled garden as previous reviewer states. We used the showers in the main block as it was heated. Good supply of hot water. No push button showers here.

Only thing that was needed in the toilets was a towel or hand drier, plus a hook in reach of the shower to hang your towel on but that's just a minor point.

Lovely walk along embleton sands to Dunstanburgh castle and great Sunday lunch in the Joiners Arms. Nice little local shop in Beadnell too.

One of the best sites I have been on for location. Located between Seahouses and Beadnell, within easy walking distance from either. Adjacent to the beach this is an ideal location to explore and really is a doggy and wildlife paradise.

I booked into the walled garden(adults only) for 1 week. Could have done with a lot longer to explore the area.

Check in - well there wasn't one. Arrived on site and left to own devices really, a notice board directed you to your pitch and to pay at the farm house as soon as reasonable. The pitches were a good size though not very level and needed levelling ramps to pitch in the allocated area, though other guests didn't seem to have as much of a problem.

A unisex toilet and shower with washing up sink located in the walled garden with extra facilities on the main family site if needed. Drinking water tap was very awkwardly located next to another guests pitch which would have made it quite intrusive in their space when people went to fill barrels etc. Chemical disposal also within the walled area.

Took us a couple of days to find where to empty grey waste- add to ask neighbours who directed us to a grate/drain just outside the entrance to the walled garden area. (it would have been really helpful if there were just a few signs or even a plan of the site to identify the main points and where to go etc.

Tv reception good. Satellite reception didn't get a signal. EE good 4g signal 3 good signal. NO wifi.

The location of the site was just amazing. Never been to this part of the country before and couldn't have wished for anything better. Simply out of the site and across the road and your on one of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in this country. This was ideal for the doggies who enjoyed every bit of exploring the beaches and rock pools along with pleasant walks into Beadnell and Seahouses.

Fuel available in seahouses along with a co-operative supermarket. Other supermarkets in Alnwick ( sainsbury's and morrisons) and Berwick on Tweed (morrisons, Asda and Tesco). Other local grocery and butchers available in seahouses. Local indian and fish and chip places in seahouses and a chippy in beadnell too.

Seahouses - lovely little harbour village. Plenty of eateries and cafes. Amusement arcade and a scattering of shops. About 10-15 minute walk from the site, and home to the boat trips to the Farne islands. We were surprised that we managed to book a trip to Longstone Island with the doggies too- Yes dogs allowed.

Fantastic value for money and managed to see seals and other sea birds as well as a close up visit to the lighthouse. We went on the Golden Gate boat trip and I must say the staff were fantastic both in the shore booking office and on board too. This is a must if you every plan to visit.

Beadnell Free parking! stunning beach and coastline, but not a lot else, but nice for a pleasant walk and stunning views of castles.

Bamburgh - just a short drive or walk from seahorse with it's stunning and imposing castle. Fabulous to see from the outside - sadly dogs not allowed. Nice little village too.

Holy Island Lindisfarne- Another great day out. Plan ahead and check tide times as this island is only accessible by road at certain times. We visited the castle there as well as the Mead Shop and cafes. I wanted to buy the castle (if I ever win the lottery). Doggies welcome on the the island but not in the castle.

Berwick on tweed - sadly disappointed with this town. Not a lot to see (maybe we missed something) - Free parking- town centre I felt was a bit run down but still ticked a box to say that I had been. A few minutes driving further up the A1 will take you into scotland. Drove there again just to say that I had been.

Alnwick - A nice little town - free parking. There was a food festival on when we visited which was nice. The famous Alnwick castle and gardens were nice to see - but sadly no doggies allowed. A nice array of shops and buildings.

Craster - Home to dunstanburgh castle (national Trust) a lovely little coastal harbour village. Nice little coffee shop - where we were made to feel very welcome and dogs allowed in too which is always a bonus.

Miles and miles of beaches and a bird watches paradise.

Overall a fantastic location for visiting Northumberland

Why I have never been here before I do not know, but I shall certainly be returning as soon as possible.

A lovely little site in a beautiful position close to the beach. We spent a lot of time playing in the sea and on the soft sand. We also walked to Seahouses and Beadnell. The pitches were flat and spacious, everything worked fine, (though the showers did tend to get very sandy being close to the beach and could perhaps benefit from more than one proper clean each day in high season). We hope to return next year!

We stayed at this site for 9 nights this summer (we were there at the same time as TimCESmith who has already submitted an excellent review)

We had a pitch nearer the facilities as we had a smaller tent, our pitch was plenty big enough for the size of our tent.

Whilst the site was full I never had to wait for a toilet or shower, hubby did twice but I think this is typical of most sites in August. Toilets and showers were as clean as could be expected, often had sand in them but you are right on the beach so no surprise.

We picked the site as we wanted to be able to walk to a beach, for this it was perfect. We spent about half our time on the beach including a few full days. It was so easy to pop back to the tent, make lunch and then take it back to the beach. The beaches are everything you expect of Northumberland, miles of empty white sand, perfect especially as it was sunny every day :)

Lots to do in the area we went to Lindisfarne, Norham Castle, Berwick, Preston Tower loads of other places on our list but the beach won over everything else.

We will be returning next year (might see you there Tim) it was all we hoped it would be

We stayed for a fortnight in the ‘farm field’. The pitches further from the gate and ablutions are enormous - it’s worth the extra walk. The ground is beautifully mown and the clippings are usually collected, depending on which mower they use. It’s perfect for plastic pegs, which hold very well. It’s sheltered by hedges and some trees, plus a very large, unlovely barn in the north east corner. There’s a very slight slope which probably makes the higher, northern edge with its delightful dog rose hedge the best spot. Ask for pitches 12 - 15. It’s all very unobtrusively managed and I’m yet to find a rule, or even a reference to rules. Everyone got on perfectly fine on common sense and courtesy, and it was reliably quiet between 10pm and 8am.

It’s a working farm, so expect some noise and plenty of interest, particularly at harvest time when it can also get a bit dusty. An occasional waft of silage competed with the whiffy elsan point over by the gate. There’s much bird life and we were visited by a rather charming shrew a few times. There’s lots to do locally so the site is very quiet during the day, whilst children play of an evening in the huge open space in the centre of the field. It’s a friendly atmosphere, but the massive pitches will make it feel less sociable than more cramped sites.

The loos and showers are few, and there was some queueing while the site was full. The sandy beach over the road means the showers are prone to blocking. If you report this at the farmhouse they’ll sort it out promptly and very effectively. There’s tons of loo roll, but the liquid soap at the washbasins tends to run out - presumably people nick it to use in the showers. The extractor fans are noisy and ineffective, so there’s a LOT of condensation unless the main door is wedged open. The showers themselves are excellent - powerful, hot and free - with plenty of room to change and a slatted bench seat in each cubicle, clothes hooks and one of those curtains that attaches itself to you like the office bore. Luckily there’s a drain in the floor so you can do without the curtain.

The utilities are fine - two rather tired-looking but effective domestic washing machines and two dryers on slot boxes, a chest freezer for ice packs and two washing up sinks, plus masses of counter space. All this is kept very clean, despite the sandy beach and the farmyard setting. There are two drinking water taps on the main field. EHU here is 16A and rock solid. There’s no wifi, but good 3G on the 3 network. Mrs TimCESmith struggled a bit on O2. There are BT hotspots in Seahouses, which you could probably get at with a long range antenna if you’re geeky enough.

The beach over the road is excellent for sandcastles, rockpooling, paddling and bodyboarding. There are many, many sites of historical interest within easy reach, and the whole area is very beautiful. Seahouses has a CoOp, a bakery, greengrocer’s, many fish and chip shops, a reliable curry house, a suspicious looking Chinese take-away and some serviceable pizza gaffs. The main car park is free for the first hour, but this isn’t obvious at the ticket machines. Just press the green button and it’ll give you an hour’s ticket. The Craster Arms in Beadnell does good food and beer and offers discounts for C&CC members. There’s another CoOp in Belford, which stays open late on Sundays, is cheaper than the Seahouses one and chills its bitter. There’s a new Go Outdoors just to the south of Berwick - you can ditch the family half a mile away at Pot-A-Doodle-Doo for some pot painting and have a peaceful potter about trying out the season’s new camping kit or replacing stuff you forgot to pack.

To sum up, it’s a near perfect site for us. The owners are laissez faire but efficient, and I notice from older reviews they act sensibly on feedback. It’s good value for the area, so it’s worth joining the C&CC for. We hope to return next summer.

Great site with beach and country walks on the doorstep. We were there midweek during term time so the site and area were quiet. Plenty of room to pitch and happy to let you angle your van to suit.

Facilities are clean and good. Owners are friendly and 'hands off' unless you need anything. A quick skip across the road and you are on a typically wonderful Northumberland beach.

Ideal for dog owners. It is a modest walk into either Beadnell (quiet but good chippy) or Seahouses (busy seaside town with harbour to sit and stare at!).

There is a lane to the side of the site which is a flat and pleasant walk through the country. Useful agin for dog owners if you want to avoid a dog caked in sand sharing your overnight accommodation!

Will be back!

Recently stayed 4 nights on this well organised working farm site. We stayed in the walled garden which is adults only with large grass pitches and 10A EHU. The location is straight across the road from the sand dunes and beach and lies between Seahouses and Beadnell, both within easy walking distance. Facilities to the main site, which are shared with the walled garden, are excellent although the walled garden has its own WC, washing up facilities and Shower. Will definitely stay here again when next in the area.
