Great site, basic, couple of unisex showers and 5 toilets but all were regularly cleaned and tidied, ray the owner comes around the site often and sells logs for camp fires and is super friendly and chatty, dogs are welcome and can be off the lead to play, very relaxed atmosphere and everyone that we've met there have been friendly and easy going, this is our third visit to this site and will be going back again! Well worth a visit!

Fantastic campsite in stunning and secluded valley location, ideally situated 5 minutes walk from Staghunters pub in Brendon village, and close to Lynton/Lynmouth and Lorna Doone valley.

The campsite is made up of a small field at the entrance and a larger field close to the facilities, both lined by the East Lyn river. Campfires and BBQs are allowed and Ray the owner comes round every day to sell logs and kindling at a very reasonable price (Ray's a great character and loves to chat!). Facilities are basic and an extra dish washing sink would be an improvement; however, that didn't bother us and there were hot (and free) showers all day.

The only criticism I could make is that several groups arrived over the bank holiday weekend and pretty much crowded out the place, so if you're looking for a peaceful stay at busy holiday times, I would recommend you ask for a pitch on the smaller field at the site entrance as this was a lot quieter.

Otherwise, I would definitely recommend this site and intend to return at some point.

A basic but brilliant campsite! Just the sort of place I love to stay.

The campsite is just a big field with a small river running down one side and several hookups running down the other.

It isn't manicured in any way. It looked like the grass was cut at the beginning of the season and then left to do its own thing.

Ray the farmer is an absolute delight. He drives round on his little cart once or twice a day, picking up camping fees and selling wood so you can have a camp fire. He'll always stop for a chat and you never feel like you're just a source of income for him.

Loos are - er - interesting. There's two showers (Free) and several loos in a hotchpot of sheds/outbuildings near the entrance to the site. They're all clean but it is a bit of a shanty town operation. For me this added to the charm of the place and will probably put off some of the sort of campers but if you don't mind basic facilities, this is the place for you. Will definitely be returning.

As far as I am concerned this campsite is perfect. Quite, beautiful isolated location with basic but good facilities.

On arriving I was not sure how to register, but put up my tent, later in the evening the very friendly famer came round, logs for fires where available in the back of his van.

It is based over two fields with a stream running along one side. Along one edge there are some permanent caravan pitches. Electric hook-ups are available along the far fence away from the stream.

We arrived mid week and their where only two other groups, lots of room for our large tent. It got much busier over the weekend but we never felt intruded upon and again got very quite again in the week.

We enjoyed fires every night and there is loads of dry wood on the roadsides if you are happy to get the boot of the car dirty, if not you can buy wood from the farmer.

The facilities are very basic, but clean: Fridge, Freezer, 2 showers, 5 or 6 toilets. If you like all sing all dancing Leeford Farm is not for you.

Within walking distance is the village with pub (did not visit), Doon Valley is again within hiking distance.

There is no supermarket locally, in Lynton there is a Londis and Costcutter, and we found it provided everything we needed, but will plan provisions to bring better next time.

To summarise if you like no frills camping with great atmosphere and location this is for you. We will definitely be visiting again.

If you're after no fuss camping, this is the place for you. As others have said, the facilities are basic but very functional. The showers are hot, and it's a nice change to have a proper power shower and not to have to press a silver button every 60 seconds!

There are no defined pitches so you can go where you like, which is unusual and very welcome when you're camping as a group with cars and big tents.

Dogs go free and there are some excellent walks and dog friendly pubs locally.

Ray the farmer and owner of the site is a bit of a legend, and helped out with tape when one of our party had a rip in their tent. We bought a bag of kindling and a bag of logs to have a real campfire with (on the grass!) and it cost £8.

I would recommend the nearby Rising Sun restaurant if you're a seafood fan.

We will definitely be returning. A perfect site for our little band, but avoid if you like lots of facilities. There's no club house in sight!

We've been to Leeford Farm twice now, on the same weekend in May. We went with a group of families with 11 to 12 year old boys who go to school together.

The facilities are basic but good and clean (two hot showers, WCs and washing up sinks).

The location is wonderful - beside a stream in a beautiful valley in North Devon. There is a rope swing over the stream - which is perfect for falling into (so might not be so good for young children), and ample room for ball games in the main field. There is a riverside walk into Lynmouth via Watersmeet (NT) with the option of an open-topped bus back for those with aching feet. Good traditional pub in the village.

We had a great campfire and the farmer supplies logs.

No 'organised entertainment' and variable mobile phone signal.

We will return.

 What a spot!

We camped here for a few nights and would not hesitate to go back. If you want rural camping with basic amenities then this is the place to go.

The rates are a bargain too.

Ray, the farmer that owns it all was super friendly and met us on site just after we landed. You can pitch wherever you want, and have the luxury of being able to have a campfire. Ray supplies the logs for about £5 a bag.

The site consists of 4 fields (2 of which of smaller because of sloping) and is located in a valley, with picturesque views all round. There is a stream (river Oare)that runs along the edge of the site, so depending on where you pitch, you will get to hear the calming sounds of a babbling brook.

Road noise is none existent, and you only get the odd Land Rover or Quadbike hum if they are in a nearby field.

All of the grass was nicely cut, and there was no litter in view. There is a bin disposal and recycling area to hand too. Fresh drinking water is available from a tap fixed to one of the fences, and the area around it had slabs down so it wasn't too muddy to access.

There is one toilet/shower block that consists of 3 lavatories, 2 showers (big enough for a couple to share) and 2 washing up sinks. I imagine this might get busy at peak times, but the despite the amount of people on site when we went, we did not really have to wait for anything. (prob 30 tents on site)

They were not what I would call immaculate, but more than pleasant enough to use. The whole block was free to use and the showers were always hot.

The Staghunters Inn is a 5-10min walk from the site and serves a variety of lager, cider and excellent ale - a proper pub environment with a beer garden by the river. A pool table and dart board are inside should you wish to stay indoors. They do serve food, but we did not eat there.

Ray stopped and offered us a lift on his quad when we were walking back one night!

There is loads of walking to do round here, but a map is not essential for the closest trail, which leads up over the hill NNW of the campsite. It is well sign posted all the way across.

The surrounding area is lovely, and although we did not venture into the nearby towns / villages much, there are plenty of places to stock up on food / drink or eat.

The easiest way to get there is travel west along the A39 towards Lynmouth, and take a left turn towards Brendon, (about 2miles or so before Lynmouth) If you drive past the BlueBell pub, then you have gone too far, so turn back and keep an eye out for the small B-road that drops into the valley towards Brendon(this time it'll be on your right!. Follow the road down and cross the small river bridge, then take a left turn. The site is a few hundred metres on the left, and it is sign posted 'Leeford Farm Camping' so you can not miss it.

All in all, if you are looking to stay in the area do not worry about the lack of website or campsite pictures, the place is beautiful and you will not be disappointed, so just book it!

This campsite is in a beautiful location with the East Lyn river running along one side of the field. The area is good for walking along the coastal path, on Exmoor or around Watersmeet.

The owner was friendly and the price was reasonable.

Facilities are rather basic and I think that there may not be enough showers and toilets if the site was busy (I stayed at the beginning of September when there were only three tents including my own so I had no problem. )

There are pubs and a tea room nearby but it is necessary to drive to get to the nearest shops.

This site is perfect for the seasoned camper/caravanner who just wants basic, no-frills facilities at a great price.

The site consists of a couple of well situated fields next to a lovely river. You definitely get the feeling of being 'down on the farm' and away from it all in this lovely corner of North Devon.

Ray and is wife are very friendly and informal and everything is done on a very low-key basis.

The facilities are basic but clean and tidy, consisting of 2 showers (which are free!), 3 toilets and 2 washing up sinks. I agree with one previous reviewer in that I don't know if this would be enough if the site was full but it was ample for us in mid-June.

The surrounding area has an award-winning tea room and a hotel providing hot and cold meals. We did struggle to get meals at the hotel as they also had paying guests. However, there are enough pubs in the surrounding area which meant that this did not really present an issue for us.

Local walking routes are superb. I would suggest any keen walkers download the many maps from various online resources and go and explore, starting right outside the camp. The walk to Watersmeet and then down to Lynmouth via the Tarka Trail is particularly recommended.

Fishing facilities also seemed to be excellent, judging by the size of fish we saw being caught in the river.

If I did have one word of warning it would be for caravanners. This area is extremely hilly and not for the faint hearted! However any seasoned caravanner with a large motor should be able to cope.

So all in all, this is a great site with a homely feel, set in a lovely part of the country.

Popped down the road to this site (only 30 mins from home) as a last minute thing due to the great weather.

Pitched up right by the river with some friends (total 4 adults and 4 kids). It is in a beautiful spot nestled in a steep valley. There are no pitch markings you just roll up and pick where you want! There are some electric points at the back of the field but we did not need them for such a short trip.

The access to the river is quite steep so have to be wary with the little ones. There are 3 toilets and 2 showers, enough for the amount of people there that weekend but could be a problem when busier.

No shop or reception, just roll on in and Farmer Ray comes around and takes your money (seems to be no set prices - negotiate!) He will also supply logs for your camp fires!

Fantastic place in the sunshine - very relaxing, don't think it would be the same in the rain though!
