Was really delighted to stay at North Morte. We knew as soon as we saw the tents / campers fields with all its beautiful landscape that it was right. We pitched up on a flat area and had the most wonderful view overlooking the craggy bay. Yes it was windy when we arrived, but over our long weekend there were plenty of times when the wind died down.
The facilities were faultless and the campsite shop was a real advantage - well stocked even to the level of ice and barbecue meat packs (though be quick for ice!) and not overly pricey which was a nice surprise.
After 3 nights here (and even with iffy weather) we just didn't want to leave. Just sat by the tent was enough to chill us out completely! Will definitely revisit North Morte, and it couldn't come soon enough.

Spent a weekend at this lovely site in our VW campervan. Very narrow road to the campsite, didn't bother us but might be a nightmare if you have a caravan. Had booked a pitch with hook up and had a slight mishap with a lamp post when reversing :( the owners were very understanding! Whilst the touring pitches were very peaceful, its a shame that they don't have hook ups in the tent area - the views were fantastic, although on quite a slope - it didn't seem to bother the campers tho as the view made up for the incline. The shop on site was good, washrooms immaculate (never saw them dirty at all-wow) the receptionist very helpful and whilst I understand some of the comments about the statics, believe me it felt nothing like a holiday park when we were there (we have been to a few in our time!) 3 pubs in easy walking distance. We ate in 2, the one nearest the campsite did the better food, the atmosphere in the other one by the church was great tho. Woolacombe is an easy walk on the coastal path - it is a steep walk by road. Coombe Martin, Lynton and Lynmouth all worth a visit and lots of shops in Barnstable. Wouldnt bother with Ifracombe, very run down. Would go back and probably stay in the tent part, would sacrifice electric for that jaw dropping view!

We arrived at North Morte Farm on Friday afternoon not knowing what to expect as we had taken a bit of a last minute pot luck on the internet to try and book a pitch. The main office was very welcoming and friendly. They do not take bookings over the phone so we were very happy to find they had room for us as we arrived. Being our first dummy run for the camping experience things really needed to tick some boxes ie- shower facilities, views, shops etc. I couldn't think of one thing negative to say, what an excellent site for caravans, statics & tents! The views were amazing - we watched 2 great sunsets before having to head back to the doom & gloom of Bristol. Short walk to the shops and 2 very nice local watering holes! We will be back soon and that is a promise

Being a bank holiday and living a good 300 miles from the site we set off early to ensure ourselves a pitch. We arrived on the Friday morning around 11 o'clock. Got straight in and pitched our tent in the most amazing spot overlooking the beach! The whole campsite has amazing views and perfect areas to camp this campsite is so well maintained you would think it was a golf course! Being just me and my partner and camping for our first time, we could not have picked a better site. It would also be lovely for a family holiday too with lots to entertain the children. It is a beautiful location and there is nothing better than waking up hearing the sea and feeling the sun! Toilets and showers are perfect never had to wait for either even though it was very busy at points in the weekend! very quiet at night and the shop on site has everything you could need! There is also numerous pubs and places to eat all within walking distance. The tea room is well worth a visit the devon tea is a must!yummy!

Having grown up enjoying 'back to basics' sites, my spirits sank on entering North Morte Farm. Having negotiated the narrow (and crowded) road leading to the site, it appeared that we had made a terrible error and booked into a holiday park by mistake. Thankfully we persevered and as previous reviewers commented, the outlook improved massively once we had driven on through caravan alley into the camping fields. However, our vedict a few days later was that this site was a bit of a mixed bag.
Plus points: Sensational views. Good, clean facilities. Close to lovely little village (with pubs serving good food and drink). Short drive from Woolacombe Bay.
Downsides: 'Holiday park' feel. Serious slopes, so difficult to find a flat pitch. Exposed when the wind blows (and boy, did the wind blow).
Will we venture back? Not sure .

We've just returned from North Morte Farm a day early, which was due to the wet weather not the site itself. We were disappointed that the site was more commercial then we thought, there are a lot of statics but at least there was no club. It was a narrow approach to the site which was a bit of a nightmare. Mortehoe is a small village with a few shops and pubs, a chip shop and restaurant. We ate at the Ship Aground which was good food and also enjoyed a cream tea at the tea rooms opposite the church. Lynmouth and Watersmeet are well worth a visit and Woolacombe beach is lovely - although we went on the hottest day of the year so far and it's fair to say it was packed! There are some great sea views from the site and plenty of good coastal walks direct from the site.

4 of us in 2 tents stayed here for 2 nights (Fri & Sat night). When first entering the site I thought I was entering a holiday park (I’m more into basic camping) but once you pass all the caravans, shop, laundry room, reception e.t.c and enter the camping part of the site things look a whole lot better.
The site is quite hilly so finding a flat spot to pitch is rather difficult. If you camp down the bottom of the site you will have amazing views of the sea and sunsets but will be a bit of a (up hill) walk from the toilet/shower block .
Toilets and showers were nice and clean and visiting the showers around 8am every morning I didn’t have to queue once. There’s enough water taps scattered about the place but you may have to queue to use the washing up room as there isn’t many sinks but you wont queue long.
I think the best things about this site are the views, the coastal path walks and the beach. I’m re-visiting in a few weeks for 2 nights so I can explore the coastal paths in more detail.
Overall a great site is in a great location – just be warned it can get very busy (you can’t book) and you may end up pitching on a slope.

This campsite is our all time favourite. Some of the camping fields are on a slope, but you can choose where to pitch and many have an amazing view over the sea. There is only one shower and toilet block which is big enough to serve all. It is quite a walk, uphill, from some of the further camping fields but the walk is worth it due to the views. The site has a small shop on site and is a short walk to the village of morthoe which has a couple of pubs and a fish a chip shop. There is also a seafood place where you can eat in or take out amazing seafood platters. The drawback is you can't book in advance. It does get very busy in high season. We went for the bank holiday weekend, which was a mistake as it was very packed and if you had arrived on the weekend itself I don't think you'd have got on the site. There is access to a small cove from the campsite, but it's a steep walk back up the hill to the site. The site can also get very windy because it's on a headland. Despite all this it's a great location.

We stayed at North Morte Farm from the Sunday of the May Day Bank Holiday until the Wednesday morning. When we arrived the site was pretty busy but not overly so, and most of the visitors left on the Sunday. The site is split into 4 or 5 fields with static and touring caravans and the rest given to camping. It has a small well stocked shop, reception area and immaculate toilet / shower facilities.
There are no set pitches for the camping fields our group (my wife & I, another couple and a mate) managed to find a site with beautiful views looking out to Lundy Island, but could not get a pitch which was flat, which did cause some discomfort at night. We were fairly close to the toilet / shower block and so were able to walk easily to the block. I assume there must not have been a shower block on the further fields and disappointingly I saw people driving from their tents to the block. Also care had to be taken when driving the car from the tent as it wouldn’t grip on the wet dewy grass. One other camper looked decidedly worried as it looked I might be heading for his tent, but with the aid of a few strong arms I got off the grass.
A very short distance is the village or Mortehoe. It’s a nice little place at the top of the cliffs above Woolacombe. The village has 3 decent pubs, with The Chichester Arms being our favourite for food and ale. It also has a chippy , post office/general store and a tea room.
Woolacombe is either a short walk down the hill or as we went, about 3 miles out round Morte Point with great views and lots of birds to spot. Woolacombe is a small seaside resort with a large clean sandy beach which as most seem to these days had a lot of surfers. We also walked from Mortehoe to Ilfracombe along the cliffs via Lee Bay. It was good walking with good views, and takes in Bull Point Lighthouse .
Overall the campsite was great with good facilites and I would certainly stay there again if visiting the area, although perhaps I would pick my pitch with a bit more care to comfort rather than the views of Lundy.

This is a truly amazing site with some of the best coastal views in devon. In addtion the site boasts the little village of mortehoe with a fish and chip shop, post office and a couple of traditional pubs.
The only downside to the site was the slope of the pitches, though if you searched around level areas could be found.
All in all the site was imaculate and tidy, the bins were emptied regularly and the shower/toilet areas were spotless.
We now plan to make this a regular destination; going back in 6 weeks, can't wait!
