What a fantastic site. The location is amazing with access to coastal paths and short walk to the beach and mortehoe village. The village has a couple of pubs, shops ect. The pitches are very hit and miss and I think we were very lucky we found a relatively flat area. You can't book but there was a large group of us, 7 tents in all, and we all camped together.
It was the first time for most of us camping with babies and found the facilities superb. There was a large changing area and huge sink for bathing our babies. Unfortunately only in the female shower block! The shop was well stocked. We didn't stay long enough ti use the washing machines. Would love to return

This was an amazing place ,so vast - there must be room for hundreds and hundreds of tents - and of all sizes! We had basically the run of the place with only a dozen others on the whole camping side of the site, when we were there. The Toilet and shower blocks were immaculate and always hot water, good lighting at night if you had to walk a bit to get to them. As well as this, the shop was great with almost Superstore size stock - you can get everything there.
The views are incredible, the weather was great, really hot, but with a cooling breeze. The site has direct access to a huge beach, granted its a steep path in bits, but once youre there ,its not an issue. A great place to spend some time and we will definitely be back - 10/10

August 2005 A second visit for us after the first last September. Wah a beautiful place this is, perched on the side of Morte Point, overlooking the sea. I LOVE this site - large and rambling, no marked pitches, immaculately clean.
Showers and toilts are spotlessly clean and I have never had to wait to use either. The small camp shop always seemed to have what we needed (although we usually shop further afield) and was very reasonably priced.
The staff are wonderful, will do anything to help and inconspicuous at all times.
There are no 'Phoenix Club' type facilities either, so it's peace and quiet all around. No pool or other kids' type things, apart from 2 immaculately kept adventure playgrounds, which seem very popular.
My favourite site!

August 2004 We visited right in the middle of the summer holidays and the campsite had the 'full' sign up throughout each weekend of the visit. The camping fields are very sloping. This means that you get stunning views of the sea, but it is difficult to find a suitable pitch. The flatter areas became very cramped as people try to squeeze yet another tent in.
Another warning is the VERY long walk, uphill, to the toilet block if you are in the lower camping field. Not too much fun with a young child and a weak bladder early in the morning! But the views were great, the toilet block was large, modern and kept very clean, and the beach below the campsite is delightful. I'd go again but perhaps at a less busy time.

June 2005 We picked this site because we had heard that Woolacombe was beautiful and North Morte Farm was probably the only local site not owned by that Woolacombe Sands monopoly rubbish that you associate with screaming kids, tacky site bars and Betty Beachball.
We paid approx £12 a night for 2 adults, 2 dogs, a tent pitch and a car. I remember thinking that their classification of low, mid and high season was very fair. You get the instant impression that the site is well equipped, friendly, clean and non commercialised (it's family run). They don't take single sexed groups or big parties.
The initial part of the site is for privately owned static vans, but there's not too many and you don't get that Butlins/Pontins type shiver. The next part is for tourers/tents and EHU pitches (it gets busy here so you would be advised to prebook as there's only about 20 pitches (maninly for vans and motorhomes)), oh there's no sea view from here either. There's also a couple of kids areas with climbing stuff and swings.
The camping area is vast, stretches over quite a few fields/hills and is varied in landscape. Some pitches are level but most are sloping to varying degrees. The sea can be seen from nearly everywhere. Midweek (apart from when the sprogs are off) you would be able to pretty much pick and choose and get a less severe sloping pitch, quite near to the toilets/shower block, but leave it till a Friday and you could end up on a slope with a good walk to the conveniences (you'd get a better sea view though). You can reach a breath taking cliff top stroll within five minutes of heading for the sea from the site.
I would recommend a windbreak as it is exposed, the shop sells them and replaced ours without any questions when the posts snapped (but it was about force 7 winds). Take the time and peg your tent well! The shop is very well stocked and is cheap. It sells a variet of groceries and camping equipment.
The toilet and shower facilities are impeccable, the best I've seen on a site. The toilets and shower block is spacious, very new clean.
Morthoe itself is lovely, 3 pubs, a good chip shop and a real Devon feel to the village. We didn't eat at the pubs preferring the sites recommendations at Paracoombe and Withy'something.
I would definitely go back but if I was going to leave my arrival till late on a Friday, I might be tempted to prebook one of the EHU pitches and lord it with the vans rather than risk an uneven pitch albeit with a breath taking view.

August 2004 We have camped here a few times over the last 3 years. It is always the same. As per previous comments a beautiful well kept site with fab views. Although the cliff top position does make it quite exposed to wind. Toilets & showers are always very clean (high on my list of priorities) and well kept (cleaned twice daily). There are occasional queues for ladies showers at busy times. Little shop on site is well stocked-fresh croissants, doughnuts and bread daily and almost anything else you'll need. As said before owners are very friendly and always seen around cutting grass or working on something. Steep walk to lovely quiet Rockham Bay with lots of rock pools for kids, or 10 mins in car to Woolacombe which has good chip shop and ice cream shop - yum! Local pubs welcome families and serve good food. We'll be back again soon!

August 2004 After searching the internet for a while for a nice campsite in Devon, we decided that North Morte Farm in Mortehoe sounded good, and had good reviews to go with it! We couldn't book for a tent so we had a backup site just in case. We were very impressed with the facilities, friendly staff, and the total lack of tacky club or bar, which always spoils it for us anyway. The excellent shower block is well maintained and very clean, and they work all the time! We were lucky as it was so busy,to find a fairly level site, and this particular spot had a breathtaking view over the bay and towards Lundy. And it was a short walk to the loo, which was a bonus! The small village has a few nice pubs that do nice meals too, though some are well overpriced considering the trade they do. Still, there's always a chippy if you prefer, and also a lovely walk down to Woolacombe bay if you carry on down the same road. We will go back to this part of Devon, as it is lovely and we will recommend this campsite to anyone who loves peace and quiet, lovely walks and scenery. Next time we will try surfing!! Looks like fun!!!

July 2004 Have just got back from this lovely place. The location is stunning, and the views across to Lundy and the surrounding seascape are terrific. The village,10 minutes walk away, has a deli, tea shop, scrumpy shop,a place where you can buy cooked chickens etc,a restaurant, fish and chips, and three pubs. However, the clifftop location means that you are vulnerable to high winds,of which there were plenty during our stay, and the closeness to the sea means that theres plenty of moisture in the air.The site fills up quickly, and doesnt take bookings, which is a shame for those travelling long distances. It is family orientated, and does not take single sex groups, which means that is very quiet at night.Hurrah!! Highly recommended, but have a reserve site in case they're full.

August 2003 and 2004 A beautiful site with fantastic views of the North Devon coast and Lundy. An idyllic spot to stay. Very well kept and very friendly staff. Early booking is essential if you want electric hookup during the summer, but whether you have electricity or not, it's a fabulous place to stay. England at its best.

May 2004 This was the first time that my girlfriend and I had been away in the caravan that we bought from her parents, so really excited I started to go through the UKCampsite web site looking for a site that had great reviews and after reading about North Morte Farm I just thought lets give it ago.
Well we were not disappointed anyway. Right from the moment I booked us in I was made to feel very welcome and this was also extended to the pitching up where the owner even cut the grass just as I was about to reverse onto the pitch and helped us when we could not work out the electrics. I really got the feeling that nothing was too much trouble even knowing we were so new to caravanning.
The site is extremely well kept and you always see the owners working as you go about the site in fact you wonder how they do it all and still make you feel welcome.
The site has 2 areas of static caravans and a massive area for camping. If you like camping the tent areas offer a fantastic view of Lundy Island and the sea. When you get to the tourer caravan area you will find plenty of space is provided for your caravan and awning.
The facilities on the site are excellent, the shop is well stocked and we sampled some of the cider which we enjoyed with our fish & chips from the local fish & chip shop just 500mtrs away from the site. The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless and the showers always lovely and hot.
The site also boasts entrance to the National Trust beach called Rockham beach. My girlfriend and I went to have a look and it was a lovely pebbly beach where people were fishing and paddling in the waves breaking onto the beach, The one comment I would have is the walk back up the hill and steps from the beach are not for the faint hearted as it is quite a trek back up to the site but well worth it.
The site is great for exploring the local area with it being within a couple of miles of Woolacoombe where the beaches are the cleanest sandy beaches I have ever seen in the UK and the site is also close the Ilfracoombe which was also a lovely town with a small harbour and lovely old town centre with loads of cracking little shops.
We were so impressed with the site and the area we were really sad to be going home after our 3 day break, we really felt we would have liked to explore more of the area and the site. So we did something about it and booked to have a week at the site at the end of August, which we are both really looking forward to.
If you're booked to go to North Morte Farm you won’t be disappointed and if you are there at the end of August then we will see you at this real gem of a site. Happy Holidays.
