Enjoyed fanstastic views over a long weekend following recommendations on this site for our first camping experience. A little noisy with a large group arriving but they ended up being very quiet come the evening. We must have enjoyed it as we now have a bigger tent and have foregone the usual big summer hols for lots of camping!

Wow this is the best campsite ever. We didn't know it existed and we came upon it by chance after deciding not to camp at a really really expensive commercial one up the road.
After we parked up and paid for our 3 nights we were advised where to follow the road to the tenting area and we couldn't believe the view from this place its unreal. We pitched up with a great unspoiled view of the sea and went from there. This place has got its own beach (at least it appears to be) its a short walk down the hill, a great little sun trap. Be warned though you have to walk down some very steep steps down the cliff to the cove, handrail came in handy.
The showers facilities were of high standard and cleaned regularly.
This is a very big campsite with only one shower block so keep this in mind when you pitch. But there are enough showers and toilet cubicles to reflect the size of the site. However, only 2 plug sockets in the ladies which was annoying because they were being hogged by teenage girls straightening their hair constantly. I wasn't going to wait in a queue of little girls waiting to style there hair so I just left the cubicles with wet hair. Taking an extension lead next time.
The village of Mortehoe is a short distance away and is a very charming place to visit and chill out for a while.
There are some excellent walks within the area with ever changing beautiful views.
This place had to be visited we will definitely be returning.
We ended up staying 6 nights instead of 3! We did have fantastic weather too which enhanced this place no end. Not that it needed it .10 out of 10

Go Go GO! I know I should keep this to myself but this campsite was fantastic. The facilities were excellent; clean, spacious and well kept. Only once in the four days we were there did I have to queue for a shower and that was only for five minutes. My son enjoyed the company of other youngsters at the site and there was plenty to do. The shop is well stocked and the staff in reception are very helpful. Some of the pitches are on a slope but it is well worth it for the spectacular views - particularly on the bottom field. We will be going back as soon as possible. If you are a family who want to enjoy each others company along with pure British beauty then this site is definitely the one for you! Enjoy.

We were booked in for a week - first week of summer holidays. Lovely site, nice clean facilities, good shop and information at reception. Is possible to walk to a great rocky beach and not too far to walk to Woolacombe for those who like to walk (roadside or footpath) if not, there is a bus service there too. Unfortunately, our stay was cut short due to bad weather - but would definitely return

We have just got back from a weeks stay at this wonderful site. Unlike the camping field, the field for tourers has marked pitches and is fairly level. You need to book these pitches. The downside is you don't get such a good view of the sea as the camping field. Also on the touring field you couldn't arrive on your pitch until after 2pm and had to vacate it by 10am which seems a bit unreasonable to me, but I suppose they have to cut the grass sometime? The site's location is fantastic, right on the coast path and a very short walk to the lovely village of Morthoe. The roads are quite narrow though and it was pretty hairy towing along some of them with double decker buses coming the other way! But we really liked the site and will definitely be back.

Fantastic views and good quiet location close to great beaches, half hour pleasant walk on NT land to Woolacombe, with an occasional bus service. Good general shop in village (5 min walk - and please walk! - from site entry) and nice deli too. Ilfracombe walkable too for the energetic (you can get the bus back). We found a fantastic disused railway route from the top of the hill to cycle into Ilfracombe. Arrived immediately after very wet months of June and July, when site was still relatively quiet. Land just about coping, but some campers used car too much and churned up some areas. Most of site VERY slopey, but we found a flat pitch and it wasn't too crowded even when the site was full at end of week. Biggest gripe is distance to wash block (probably 500m + from end of site), which encouraged the idle to drive, which didn't help the condition of the land. Wash block coped surprisingly well given the numbers on the site, generally clean and I didn't have to queue for showers - probably other campers couldn't face the walk! Water hot enough though rather low pressure in the free showers. I wouldn't recommend the (bookable) caravan field, because this is too close to the inevitably busy wash block, also someone appeared to run a generator every evening. More general point about the entire area (England?) and the local village in particular is that the roads are clogged by vehicles going to beach, and not suitable for large motorhomes or caravans although many tried. Please walk, cycle or take the bus!

Have just come back from a long weekend camping here and we had an amazing time. We found a pitch at the end of the site, looking down onto the rocks on the beach which was reasonably flat. Fortunately, on our arrival it was wet and windy which meant fun pitching the tent but also meant it was quiet. We were invited to "have a look" before deciding to stay and we pitched our tent, walked back to the office and sorted out the finer details such as payment etc. We were attracted to this site as the location was stunning, the views from our pitch were amazing. Also, the pitches are not marked out but you do need to leave 4.5m between each tent. As the sun shone on Saturday, we watched a brilliant sunset, eating fish and chips from the chippy in the village and drinking wine. The site was quiet and family / couples orientated which was perfect for us. No noise, just the sound of the waves on the beach below. It did get slightly busier on Saturday night but most people were respectful of others around them. The site office was helpful and informative, the shop was well stocked but closed quite early. The toilets and showers blocks were very clean and rarely busy although I imagine this will change in the summer holidays or on a nice weekend. Pubs within reasonable walking distance that also do food and of course, there is lots of good walking nearby to work up a thirst or an appetite!

This is my second visit to this site which I absolutely love. It is split in two sections- one half is static, the other camping, which is by far the best for views but it does not come without its problems. The camping section boasts stunning views out to the Atlantic and at night views across the water to Swansea (you can see the twinkling lights on a clear night) The camping area suffers from being slopey in fact it is situated on 3 different hills and finding a flat pitch at busy periods can be tricky. We arrived late on a Friday night expecting to struggle to find a pitch but were very blessed to grab a flat plot on top of the hill with a panoramic view out to sea. The toilets and showers are clean, spacious and modern and the staff friendly. I have to say this was the busiest I have seen this site and it was still pleasant and in fact had a lively but not noisy atmosphere. The area is great for exploring, the village is about 10-15 minutes walk with great pubs, Fish n Chips, and a nice deli. From the camp site you can walk to a secluded beach where the kids can paddle in rock pools in fact while we were there a family were enjoying the peace and quiet with a small fire while taking in the stunning sun set. Nearby Woolacombe is a must for surfers and body boarders (my past time of choice) and has a fantastic beach with RNLI Lifeguards during the Summer months (be warned the swell can be quiet heavy here and extra care needs to be taken at all times) All in all this is a fantastic campsite and area. I will be returning in a matter of weeks.

Arrived here on Monday morning with the intention of camping for a week all was going well pitching the tent only to get caught out by a sudden torrential downpour which turned my vango 600 Sig into a pond and then by a gust of wind that blew my tent into the air and ripped it as I was trying to hold it down. Pack tent back into trailer and back to the site office. Now the site offers a no refunds policy but were very helpful in the fact that they could rent my family (at very short notice) a static caravan for 3 nights for £120 + £5 for the bed sheets and pillow cases minus the £33 that we had coughed up for camping. Now I have stayed in static caravans before but was a tad unsure weather or not my wife would like it. How wrong could I be! she and the kids loved it, The caravan although not new was spotless inside, all the cutlery and utensils were clean and to top it we had a very handy spot near the launderette and shop. This is our second visit to the site we first came 2 years ago to the week and although the weather was totally different (then it was blazing hot) and we were camping I have to say I actually preferred it this time in the static. Also had some good family outings all crammed into 3 days. I think our tent ripping was a blessing in disguise.

This site is so fantastic that we moved to the south west to be nearer it! Seriously, you won't find better if its real camping you're looking for, not woosey marked pitches and 5pm bingo! I've camped here every summer for 8 years, one summer for a 5 week stretch, so here's a few tips. Pitch your tent well, use all your guy lines, bring strong pegs - it may be calm when you arrive but it could be blowing a gale half an hour later. Don't pitch too close to your new neighbours. Don't be put off by the sloping fields, there are flattish areas if you search properly. Don't arrive late on a Friday and expect a great pitch in the school holidays, or even any pitch at all. Bank holidays are always packed out if the weather is good and I think the site is not at its best then. You will see the best sunsets you are likely to see anywhere. Facilities are excellent, altogether a top class site.
