Very efficient and friendly check-in, escorted to a pitch by friendly guy on push bike and asked if the location suitable which was, as south facing and shielded by nice trees.

Nice level site next to river and very pleasant riverside park 5mins walk away, beyond park is ST Neots town with good shops etc. A must excursion is to visit Hitchingbrooke park [15mins by car] where you can walk around lakes and have a picnic in relaxed dog friendly surroundings.

Cannot fault this site, very clean toilets/showers, also laundry room and pot washing area.

Would definitely recommend Chinese takeaway[lotus] which deliver to site. Will definitely be going again soon.

The not so good bits then first

Water pressure needs a little lift wasn't the best we had, during our stay the prince of darkness was having a shave in the cubicle when the water went off, would love to have seen the look on his face !

The road way doesn't drain too well and there was some interesting sized puddles develop

Fit some speed bumps please.

Good bits then

The wardens were very helpful indeed as per usual on these sites. We were helped to our pitch and we set up. The shop has some provisions and the information was timely and accurate for what we saw.

The walk into to town from the site alongside the river is pleasant and is not far indeed and if you go on a Thursday it brings you out close to the market. St Neots is a nice town

There is a main tescos nearby with fuel as well and plenty to see and do. We went into Bedford market on the Wednesday which is worth a walk around with its shops as well

We had Chinese and fish and chips from the local shop which is worth the visit, 3 mins from site and they do deliver as well

This is nice campsite indeed, there has been some flooding issues here so check with the campsite for alerts

Definitely worth a revisit here and its on our list of sites to go back to

Excellent site, good wardens and well located

Recently got back from taking a good old tent with me and my daughter from this brilliant little site.

Located right on the bank of a river with private fishing rights (£2 per day). Shower/toilet blocks (there are two) where very clean. Site is a CC&C club site but they do accept non members.

The site has hard standing pitches as well as grass pitches and can cater for elec hook up on either.

Site mangers are brilliant and very helpful.

Its literally 10 min walk from centre of town with all your regular shops very local. There is also leisure centre swimming pool 5 mins down the road. Also has big tescos just down the road that you probably pass on the way to the site, so no need to carry any food with you other than a few bits for setting up.

Over all absolutely brilliant site that's not big with families for some reason and chatting with manager summer holiday time is not their busiest time.

So brilliant for a quiet getaway that's close to major roads. One slight word of warning access is via a small housing estate so if you do visit follow the signs marked rather than sat nav as most sat navs will take you via a slightly more narrow route.

One word of warning if you have smaller children, be aware that there are no guards along the river bank and as I said this site is right on the river.

We spent a two night stay at this site with friends who also own a VW T2 campervan and although the weather was indifferent and a little wet at times, we managed to have a very pleasant stay.

The site itself is not difficult to find (follow the brown signs) and some of the previous reviews comments about driving through a housing estate could suggest images that you may not find attractive. Well, put them to the far reaches of your mind. This is a very good site, secluded, fairly quiet, with plenty of space and the facilities are exceptionally clean and well maintained.

The two staff that we spoke to were very friendly, helpful, genuine people and really seemed to want to help accommodate all comers. The proprietors were most fastidious in their attention to the hard standing plots and spent a considerable time tidying & weeding them. The site has a small shop and two excellent toilet / shower blocks which are closed for cleaning at different (well notified) times during each day.

If this site's missing anything, it's a children's area - however, there is one literally only a couple of minutes walk away from the entrance which is very good so you could argue that there's no need to put one in the site itself, the counter argument is that to do so would confine most of the children who visit to one, safe area, away from most campers.

It was noticeable that on the weekend that we visited, there were a lot of tent campers with children, which was no issue for us as we had ours with us, but it could have been an issue for others.

The centre of the town of St Neots is only 5-10 mins walk away and has a very lively high street which does not appear to have been too far affected by the recession, there are plenty of shops and pubs / restaurants and it has a good atmosphere.

The walk into town is lovely, via the river and park or through the side streets, there are still plenty of things to see and we were very pleasantly surprised by the town itself.

Criticisms? Well. There's only one really, in order to secure a hook up, our friends who booked were told that we had to both have a hard standing pitch and that our campervans would need it because of the weight and the possibility of flooding at the site and not wanting to pull vans out of the mud etc.

All of which I can understand but which disappointingly meant pitching our awning onto the hard pitch too - which is not what we normally do and which required the purchase of a good few rock pegs when we had dozens of slightly less sturdy pegs which had always been OK before; all of this wouldn't have been too irritating if we hadn't noted bigger and heavier vans / 4x4's etc elsewhere on the site which were parked on grass standing apparently without trouble. So, is it a gripe? Not really a big one, but something to be aware of if you have a small van like us.

Would we book again? Definitely. The town and surrounding area is lovely, the site is very well equipped and you can be comfortable in knowing what you're getting for your money.

We spent 2 nights here on our way to the south coast, despite reading the other reviews I was still surprised at the approach through the estate and was sure that I was on the wrong road. Being Sunday there was a lot of parked vehicles, some almost opposite each other making it difficult to get through in some places.

I got a cordial if not warm welcome and was shown to a pitch in the riverside field, but not on the riverside.

The site was nice with good facilities in 2 toilet blocks, although busy the site was quiet especially at night, with the large number of walkers using the riverside path I was glad that our caravan was set further back.

St Neots is a lovely little town, with a good range of shops and our visit to Walpole Hall very enjoyable. The only criticism was the length of the grass on the site and the unevenness of it in some places.

We will visit again as there is so much to do in the area.

We spent 3 nights at St. Neots caravan site with our caravan. As other reviews have stated access is through a housing estate and is somewhat strange however once you have made your way around through the estate you stumble upon the entrance for the caravan park and a warm welcome awaits you.

The facilities are in line with what you would expect from a camping and caravanning site and we received a warm welcome from the wardens and they gave us a choice of pitches to choose from.

Unfortunately one toilet block was closed while we were staying at the site however the toilet block that was open was kept very clean and never seemed to be too busy, the showers however were quite dated.

The setting of the caravan site is lovely, with the river running through the touring field and plenty of walks for our dog. It's possible to walk into St Neots from the campsite following the river, through the park. Some shops and pubs in St. Neots, although we didn't come across anything that outstanding there. We had a day trip to Cambridge which was lovely and also a trip to Wimpole Hall (highly recommended - great day out).

I would recommend St Neots caravan park - once you get through the housing estate then the site itself is definitely worth the effort. We would certainly use this site again if we were ever in the area.

We have just returned from a lovely short break at this campsite.

This site is not the easiest to find as you do have to go through a local estate and our sat nav kept getting confused with itself due to the newer development that had been added.

Once on the right road the drive up is lovely, there is a park on the right hand side with plenty for the children to do and lots of space to run around - I know that some people have commented on there being no playground within the campsite - however this is literally outside and probably better equipped due the fact that there is more space.

It is also good to note that whilst the river is active for boating you are also able to swim, fish and use a canoe etc should you wish - so you are able to take yor own equipment with you. However, for the fishing you do need a rod license and need to purchase a day pass from reception.

On arrival we were greeted by a team of very welcoming staff who explained the site layout. Reception is also the shop, and whilst compact provides you with the main essentials that, if forgotten could pose you with a few problems, for example they sold can openers which we had forgotten.

We were guided around to our pitch where we were also told about the local area. Due to our late booking and the popular bank holiday weekend we were unable to book a pitch with electricity, however this was not a problem and we were able to get very close to the river- which was a great view to wake up to.

For everyone who pitches a tent or awning - the ground is nice and soft so any kind of tent pegs should be fine. All pitches are of a good size and provided a great space for relaxing in peace during the afternoon sun. Several people did take charcoal BBQ's as well which are permitted as long as the are off the ground - reception provides bricks to do this if required.

The shower/toilet facilities were always clean and were checked frequently. There are two blocks at either end of the site so when one is closed for cleaning the other is always available. There are three showers in each, and whilst dated were perfectly clean - and I am extremely fussy when it comes to this sort of thing.

There is an abundance of toilets in each block and never had to queue. I would say to avoid going for a shower between 8am - 9am because everyone does seem to have the same idea which does lead to a queue forming. The same blocks had the dish washing facilities attached to it - both inside and outside - which could be beneficial dependant on the weather.

The surrounding area carries on the relaxing theme set out at the campsite. If you walk down the river to your right (for about 15 mins) you head into St. Neots town which has all the things you may need - banks etc and a M & S. Further down the high st (car advisable) is a spar. However, should you want a larger supermarket there is a Tesco Extra near by.

If you head down towards the river and turn left you are faced with beautiful views all around. Please take the time to walk down this way. All the way along you have the river, which has boats go up and down frequently, and about 10 mins down this walk you will find yourself at one of the loveliest looking pubs we have ever been to.

You need to cross the lock and walk past the moorings - but this old mill conversion has a lovely beer garden to seat out in and watch the world go by. It also provides food throughout the day (which is recommended) and seems to become very popular with the locals as well - especially on Sunday nights - quiz night - where we were made extremely welcome.

This is a haven for dog walkers as it has plenty of space to walk them and for that reason appears to be popular for campers with dogs. Whilst we were there it definitely seemed to be more popular for people with motor homes and caravans, although we were all mixed in - this could have been due to the time of year and the unpredictable weather we have.

We will definitely be returning to this site.

We always read the reviews of sites, finding the detail useful and usually realistic, but until now have not been driven to leave one of our own. However. St Neots is probably the loveliest site we've been to.

The wardens are very friendly and helpful. The site is immaculate and the grass superb with no muddy 'rucks' anywhere despite the time of year.

The shower block is very clean, although 3 showers may be a tad tight looking at the size of the site during the summer period and the shower heads are so high, we had to 'bob' about to try and get wet.

This to be honest was the only criticism (and really very minor) as it had everything else - a Motorhome service point, excellent chemical disposal, bin area was spotless and the site itself was so beautifully laid out with large pitches, both hard standing and grass and trees and small landscaped areas that created friendly screening and gave the site a real character.

It is a beautiful area with a lovely walk along the river to the left, where you can cross the weir and pop into the local pub for a reasonably priced excellent bite to eat, before continuing on a circular route and returning to the site via the large park on the right.

Whilst we were there we saw swans (with cygnets), pheasants, bats and fox and local signs indicate it's great for woodpeckers and lots of waterfowl.

Fantastic for walking and cycling safely locally as well as Grafham water being only 8 mins down the road.

We chose a site close to home to try out our new trailer tent (having previously used tents) for a weekend. I am so glad I read a few reviews and spotted the one that said 'strange approach through a housing estate' as my husband who was driving was convinced I'd got the directions wrong.

We arrived on Friday evening at about 6pm and the site wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. When we booked they didn't have any electric hook up pitches available but were able to accommodate us on one when we checked in. The pitch was fabulous - I wish for grass as green and soft at home!

Toilet and shower block spotless. Washing up area had hot water at 11pm. Rubbish bin area spotless. Lovely walks for our dog. My son took his kayak and had a great time in the river (please note a license is required and not available from the site office). Cycled into St Neots for a few bits and pieces.

Only downside - and it's not major - is there is no children's play area where they can play ball games, etc. Our children are 10 and 6 and so I do like them to be close ish. There is a children's playground just outside the site and a huge park on the other side of the river but I would not allow mine to go there without me.

I would expect this on an 'Adult only site'. There was of course plenty of room to run and cycle around. Fish and chip van on site on the Friday evening - excellent.

Access to the site was through a housing estate, we thought the sat nav had gone wrong but we finally came across the site entrance.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were asked to follow a member of staff on his bike and he lead us to our pitch with electric hook up. First impressions of the site were impressive.

The toilet facilities were cleaned regularly and water always hot. Plenty of showers and also wash basins in cubicles which was a great idea.

The site is in a very nice location, and is extremely well kept with pleasant views of the river.

Shop on site offers basic essentials.

There is a children's playground close to the entrance which kept the kids entertained.

As with all camping and caravan sites the rules here are adhered to and we had no problems with noise or poor facilities.

Would definitely recommend and hope to go back soon.
