Just backing up the other comments really - nice site, friendly owners, very clean facilities, quiet despite being busy and a useful shop.
Lovely situation by the river and plenty of shade on site. Perhaps a little pricey as non-members for just a night but felt it was worth it.

This was our first visit to St Neots,we were attracted by it's proximity to the river because we like to walk and nature-watch. It didn't let us down,we found we could walk into town and back varying our route each day.The choice of shops in town was excellent. We had a very good and unpretentious meal at the Sun Inn and an even better one at the Riverside Tavern just along the riverbank from the site, the walk was a
Little muddy, don't wear fancy sandals. The highlight was discovering Paxton Pits a short car-ride away,we returned there on three days,it was beautiful and we saw and heard the nightingales that breed there. The site itself was beautifully kept, the staff were very helpful and pleasant and the facilities were spotless and
Generous. All in all a little oasis with civilisation on the doorstep.

This was only the second time that we had ventured out with the caravan and we found the drive through the housing estate to the site rather nerve racking but we were delighted with the site .
The staff were very friendly and the site was very well kept. There was obviously a great deal of pride taken in the grass cutting !
We would have loved to have one of the pitches by the river , we were farther back on the site but the walks from the site we found very very pleasant and we saw birds that we hadnt seen before around the river .
We didn't venture from the site except on a few walks .
Would recommend to anyone . The site was friendly and we really found the mix of campers and caravans created a very nice atmosphere .
We will be going back and I will find out what I need to do to ' bag ' one of the riverside pitches next time !

Very good C&CC site. Up to the usual high standards. Toilets / showers spotless, spacious, level pitches, well laid out. We followed the directions provided by the site. Good job we did as this place could be difficult to get to, especially when towing. The recommended route takes you through a housing estate but having read previous reviews, we were expecting this and as has been said, don't let this put you off because when you leave the estate behind, the site is lovely, right on the river.
Hardstanding we were on was rather 'lumpy' with large stones covering it, which we covered with a tarp before putting down our more expensive groundsheet - to prevent any damage and to make for a more comfortable surface to walk on in the awning. Rock pegs and a good hammer are also needed on these pitches.
Site shop sold the basics and the staff were very efficient and welcoming. Tescos is just up the road and open 24 hours, so no problems stocking up with food and / or fuel. There is also a Waitrose in St. Neots as well as a good selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants.
Visited the IWM Duxford while we were there - very reasonable admission charges and the kids went in for free! Had a fabulous day out which we all really enjoyed. (Take your own food/drink though, as this was rather pricey).
The Park and Ride scheme for Cambridge is very well organised and good value for money. Children under 16 free and £2.20 per adult. Well worth it as Cambridge is not an easy place to find parking.
All in all 9/10 for St. Neots. Would definitely use this site again.

May Bank Holiday Friday 22nd - Monday 25th 2009
4 adults, four children (girls age 7 & 2 + boys age 5 & 4) in two trailer tents.
The staff at this Camping and Caravan Club site were extremely friendly and helpful. Lovely people!
We had a fantastic pitch by the hedge away from the river. I was totally amazed that despite the amount of large groups of tents in the middle of the field we did not hear any noise at night.
It was really peaceful and quiet during the day time too. You can walk along the river to the local pub which serves decent beers (sorry can't remember the name of pub or beers).
If you have children the huge playgrounds and park are within walking distance and fantastic. Sandpit + sit on digger thing, huge climbing wall / frame + ladders to the top. Made me giddy looking down. Lots of groovy tyre swings & roundabout. Great for all ages.
There is no playground on site. I prefer this as it means it is quieter and we don't get badgered every five minutes whilst trying to relax at the tent.
We're having a very lazy weekend so didn't explore very far other than a cycle into town.

A picturesque site on the banks of the River Ouse. Lots of really good pitches and the areas looks really well maintained and looked after.
The town is just a short walk along the banks of the river and even in the rain it was lovely. There is an excellent bus service (X5) which takes you either to Cambridge or Oxford via Bedford and Milton Keynes. Cheap and very reliable - great.
The staff seemed to be just extraordinarily pleased to be there with one couple arriving a week before they were due to for the season because they just couldn't wait.
Canoed on the river - lovely though it is not the easiest to actually get into gracefully.
Great Chinese restaurant just outside the camp and a fish and chip shop - handy for those late arrivals when you don't want to cook.
Unfortunately one of the toilet blocks was out of action, but the staff were able to keep the other immaculately clean which was very well done considering the weather.
Fantastic place to stay if you want to go to Cambridge, but St Neots itself is a little basic. The on site shop is very small and doesn't stock a big selection.

Having just returned from this site we found that it was not a very restful site as we were worried about the site flooding all the time, as the river runs right through the site. Found the staff very helpful and friendly. The toilets were clean if sometimes the floor was very wet as the showers are near the main door. Places to visit Paxton pits just up the road, Ely and Cambridge.

A very pleasant site with a country feel and only a 10 minute walk through a pleasant park into the town.
Both toilet / shower blocks were to the usual high standard that you expect of the CCC.
The site is situated next to a river with occasional pleasure cruisers passing by and the pitches next to the river are popular with anglers. We were pitched 20 meters back from the river, which was nice to sit and relax and watch the boats go by.
The town itself has a good variety of shops including a supermarket. There is also a tesco a short drive from the site.
I would definitely return to this site.

Fantastically friendly site and well set out.
The river runs along the bottom of the site and you can walk right into town within about 15 to 20 mins along the river path.
There were two toilet and shower blocks which were lovely and clean with washing up facilities and chemical waste.
The shop sold basic supplies but it was easy to walk into town if you needed to.
There were quite a few Pubs in town and another one which you could walk to if you went left at the bottom of the site by the river which sold great food.
There was a lot of park land in the surrounding area which was well looked after, so plenty of places to picnic if you wanted to.
We will definitely be coming back to this site in the future.

What a great site!
Just spent the weekend here.
A lovely site within walking distance of the town, and although the approach is through a housing estate once there it is a lovely country site with a river running through it. The walk into town is lovely, through a huge park. We passed 3 children's play areas on the way, but unfortunately due to the rain couldn't stop to play much to the dismay of our toddler!
We were shown to our pitch on arrival, a hard standing pitch. A good large pitch, the only thing we found was that the stones under the awning carpet were quite large and sharp in places - not good for our baby to crawl around and not very soft underfoot! A good clean site, all staff were cheerful and friendly despite awful weather on Saturday. Toilets very clean, and showers didn't seem to get busy.
There was a chip van there on Fri night - perfect! The shop sold a few essentials but had run out of milk on Sun, but there was a local shop a few mins drive away.
Great family friendly swimming pool a few mins drive away - cost us £6 for 2 adults,a toddler and a baby.
No extensions allowed on leaving time, but time to be off site is 2pm - great - time for lunch before leaving. (We were a bit late packing up, but no one hassled us).
We will definitely return.
One word of warning though - follow the directions recommended to the site - we followed the Sat nav - not a good route ended up through town - should have checked the route before we set off!
