We have just returned from another wonderful visit to this camp. The weather was rubbish but that's the UK for you.

The cafe is under new ownership and what can I say but heaven and wonderful, the food is now great and its a lovely little cafe and the new owner, Paul is a really nice bloke.

As always we were made to feel welcome here the staff and site was perfect.

My only downside is the showers for some reason this year was not very hot (never had this problem before) so maybe I used them at a busy time.

The kids as always loved it here and didn't want to leave, my son has even met up with the same friends year after year here

I cant wait to go back in a few months

We have been staying on this excellent touring park now for over 30 years, so that is a good recommendation in itself. The park is family run and the owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Treloy is located down a lane away from the main road in the countryside approximately 3 miles outside Newquay. It is ideally situated as it is centrally placed, so handy for trips out to all parts of Cornwall. There is also a bus stop right outside the gate for anyone who wants to leave the car behind and use public transport instead.

If you enjoy walking, you can walk through the quiet country lanes to the beaches at Porth and Whipsiderry and the coastal footpath. Newquay has something for everyone with its beaches, shops, bars, zoo, gardens and boating lake. For those visiting the area for the first time, pop into reception, where there are a good supply of information packs containing leaflets for attractions, some with discounted admission vouchers, maps and guides. The park entrance is really pretty with lots of colourful hydrangeas and flowering plants which continue throughout.

The generous sized pitches are divided into numerous areas, surrounded by hedges, trees and shrubs with plenty of water and electric points and discretely fenced dustbin areas plus a main recycling area for plastic, paper, glass and cans. There is a small shop and a cafe/take away near the entrance.

It is a very well kept and clean park with 2 main shower/toilet blocks plus a separate toilet block. There is free hot water to showers and basins plus free hairdryers and electric points in both shower blocks. In the lower block there is a large stainless baby sink in the ladies washroom and in the top block there is a separate parent and baby room. Both blocks have indoor washing up facilities, a boon when wet or cooler weather, as quite a few parks in Cornwall only have outdoor ones. The lower block has coin operated washing machines and dryers plus free irons, ironing boards and electric sockets (which appear to be popularly used for charging mobile phones)

We now take our grandchildren, 9, 6 and 3 with us on 2 of our trips, Spring Bank Holiday Week and August Bank Holiday week and to them, Treloy is the holiday and they even complain when we want to go out. The heated outdoor swimming pool and large sand play area are as good as the beach and sea as far as they are concerned.

The safely fenced children's play area is divided into 2 separate areas. A sand area with a climbing frame and slide, infant swings, ride and purpose built sand play equipment and a 2nd grassed area with a larger climbing frame with tunnel slide, plus swings and a play tractor and jeep. There is also a separate large grassed area set aside for football and ball games etc. Children are exceptionally well catered for at Treloy. A small clubhouse provides entertainment. In the early evening during school holidays our grandchildren enjoy the children's magic and punch and judy shows etc and later on we all enjoy various musical entertainment, quiz nights plus light hearted, friendly games of bingo.

Treloy is a very friendly park and over the years we have made many good friends who also return year after year and we would have no hesitation in recommending Treloy to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful area.

Visited this great site during a busy Bank Holiday weekend and were shown to our pitch in 'Partridge'. This is a big site but well laid out and split up into small sections.

Great toilet and shower facilities - loads of both and plenty of hot water. Never did find the parent and baby room, although there was a large sink for bathing a baby in the ladies shower room.

On entering the site it slopes down to the right so the pitches straight ahead and to the left get lots of late evening sunshine. The children's playgrounds were great although I believe there should be a notice warning parents that the large playground is for children between 8 and 16 years as the equipment is very high.

All in all a great site.

We booked this site as a 'last minute' break & even better that they only required a deposit at the time of booking where as many other sites required the full amount all in one go. Myself wife, daughter & dog drove down from Derbyshire & Tom Tom takes you further down the road but that's fine as the site is well sign posted. On arrival, the staff where friendly & showed us to our pitch with electric hook up.

Toilets / showers where spotless & clean. The site was clean / litter free & staff would always speak.

We had a dog & could not go into the bar with him.

You occasionally heard gunshots & 'left right, left right' from the adjacent RAF base, but we got used to it.

Noise at night was rare which was good as the site operate a keep quiet policy.

An ideal base for visiting Cornwall's attractions & I recommend you visit the local Cider farm.

We only had a week, but wished we'd stayed for 2 weeks, which we will do again.

For the facilities, price & friendly staff I would give the site 10 out of 10.

We used this campsite for the second time at the beginning of August this year. On arrival we were shown to our pitch which was slightly too small for our tent so we were immediately offered a pitch opposite which was plenty big enough for us. We had an extra large pitch with electric hook up.

The site is slightly on a slope so through the week we had to pull everything inside the tent back up from where it had slid down, but on the plus side this makes for excellent drainage.

The facilities are good. There is a small shop on site which has basic essentials, a small café with basic but excellent food - be careful here it’s really busy on Saturdays we had a 45 min wait for our food. The shower/toilet block, of which there are two, are cleaned everyday and have hairdryers available and free hot water. There is also a separate toilet block with 1 sink fairly near the swimming pool. There is a laundry room, £4 to do a load, £1 to dry it. Also there is on site evening entertainment with a bar, we didn’t use it so can’t comment. The pool is clean and the boys spent many an hour in there learning to snorkel and brushing up on their swimming skills, it closes at 6.30.

We were camped behind a playing field, so we could go fly kites and keep an eye on our tent at the same time. Unfortunately this was a way through to the dog exercise area and some owners didn’t always clean up behind them.

It is a good base from which to visit the area. Many things to do, too many to mention here, but lots of available information/leaflets in most places. We did the Eden project for the first time well worth the money just for the day den building. There are loads of pubs etc to get food.

There are some bad points:-

It’s not the quietest of camps. Newquay airport is nearby with lots of things flying in and out and an RAF? Base next door with some gun training sometimes earlier than we would have liked. Also the Drill Sergeant has a good set of lungs and his voice carries especially early in the morning. To be honest, for us, with a pair of early teens, it was all very exciting stuff.

The field behind us was the meeting point for noisy teenagers at about 7.30, but everything went quiet at 10pm.

When it’s wet the showers can become quite muddy in the changing area so be careful not to drop your clothes on the floor.

The wifi is hit and miss and very slow when it does work.

All in all it is a good family friendly camp, dogs welcome but please clean up after them on the field.

Would I use it again? Most definitely!

On first impressions not too happy at all. Pitch very tight.Club house not open till 7pm and not enough on site for our 16 yr old.

Stayed 2 weeks and we had had very mixed feelings of the site over this time.

Shower rooms we were not always pleased with the cleaning of.If they supplied a signing sheet on view then this would help to see if being cleaned more than we felt.

Club house was not worth visiting early as the entertainment was very childish 'No matter!'

Limited local beer in bottles available but not cheap.Belfast Busker is a must to see and hear.

This is a good base to visit the surrounding area.Bus stops literally outside the main entrance £3.00 return per adult into town.

Sometimes the noise from the airport was loud mornings and eves-however it usually was the air sea rescue.

At the end our son had made so many friends he did not want to leave!- There was nothing for him!

We personally would not go back but there were families who do go back year after year.By the end we kind of saw why.

We stayed at this site for a week in August. Our pitch was in the Robin area. The pitch was not very big and was on a slight slope. There was also a lamp-post at the end of the row which shone directly into our bedroom at night. We had a lot of rain whilst there but the pitches did appear to have good drainage and did not become waterlogged.

There are plenty of wash/shower facilities which are kept nice and clean. The washing up facilities are also very good and under cover. The takeaway, shop and swimming pool are all good. There is a small bar on site (not a clubhouse by any stretch of the imagination).

The bar is far too small for the amount of people on site in high season and it was impossible to get a seat after about 7.30. It also seemed to be frequented by people who just let their kids run riot on site not caring what they were up to.

I wanted to book somewhere for our teenage daughter and her friend to have some things to do such as swimming pool etc and after reading the reviews felt this site was probably a good in between not a huge haven type site which we hate but also more than a farmers field that we normally stay at.

Unfortunately the site did not live up to the previous reviews simply because rules weren't enforced and big mouthed kids were running around the site causing havoc at the park/games room etc without any parents in sight.

The security guard who walked around the site was pretty much for show only and did nothing to stop the badly behaved children. Although this site has some good points I would definitely not stay here again especially not in high season.

We have just returned from a two week stay at this site and overall it was a pleasant holiday -there was myself, my husband and two children aged 13 and 10.

On arrival we were personally shown to our pitch which was on the end so therefore it was nice and big and near the toilet block and park etc but a lot of the pitches are very small and you would feel that you were living on top of each other and on investigating the site many of the pitches were on very bad slants and I don't think I would have been very happy had we been given one of those!

The security on the site was good and we would have felt safe with our children when they were younger walking up to the park alone - also even though the site is very large you do not seem to hear anything after about 10pm.

The site itself was very clean and well maintained, it was easy to find (well I was the passenger so I would say that!) I think there was 3 shower blocks dotted around the site but the main one was near the park and was always clean as were the toilets, there is a small shop on site which does stock essentials but is rather pricey, also there is a take-away on the site but that is very expensive and not that nice!

All showers and hot water is free which is great when you've got children and there is also free hairdryers and irons. Those of you who will be taking dogs (good luck) we left ours at home thankfully because the 'dog walk' was a large woods with a path leading to nowhere (a dead end a either side and no poo bins provided - many people were just walking the dogs around the site.

The clubhouse was a hit with the children as there was entertainment every night the kids entertainment was mainly for 3 - 7 year olds up until about 7pm and then there was a range of different things from Bingo to the 'Belfast Busker' who was absolutely fantastic and not to be missed (Thursday night) but one word of warning give the guitarist 'Spencer Reed' a miss we were almost asleep leaving the club that night - the drinks are no different in price to anywhere else.

Morrisons supermarket it only about 20 minutes away, along with Newquay town and beaches, try Crantoc beach that's beautiful & if the car park does get full which it usually does then park outside one of the houses at the top and walk down it really is worth it!

Be warned that wherever you park in Cornwall you will have to pay for parking £5.00 each day was the norm - the only free parking was in Morrisons and that's miles from the beach too!

All in all the site was a good base for a lovely holiday but if you like walking then don't chose this one because you will need the car for everything (no nice country walks) even though the web site says it's in the middle of the countryside.

We have been back to Treloy about 5 times now,so,that in itself must say something! Quite a large site but with lots of sub-division so does not feel 'sprawling' Facilities: x2 shower / wash blocks (in our experience always clean to a high standard) club house, swimming pool, very nice children's play area, shop (not 'open all hours' but nice to know its there) small cafe, and a wide choice of pitch types.

Does get very busy at peak times so if you are looking to 'get away from it all' then probably not you thing when the kids are off school but at most other times it is 'just nice' not deserted but not manic either.

A good base for exploring Cornwall and its stunning beaches, try visiting the less obvious ones and of course Newquay itself. This is a fairly local site for us but even if its a long journey you are unlikely to be disappointed especially if the weather is nice.

This was our first visit to Treloy and after a long Journey from Leicester to Cornwall we were glad to see that Treloy was very easy to find and on arrival the staff were very helpful and personally showed us to our pitch. The surroundings were picturesque and peaceful and you could immediately tell that this was a family run and family orientated site.

Our pitch was very generous, we were able to fit a 4 man tent, a large gazebo and we were able to park our car right alongside it. We had an electric hook up and a water tap right next to our pitch. On investigating the site facilities we were very pleasantly surprised, everything was in close proximity to out pitch.

The Kitchen/washrooms/laundry room, toilets and shower blocks were spotlessly clean and well equipped even down to Irons in the Laundry room and hairdryers in the shower blocks. Our boy loved the parks and we felt very safe having him run riot as the site is secure and nice and enclosed. The club house was small but inviting with a range of entertainments going on throughout the week with stuff for mum, dad and the kids - the games room and swimming pool were a hit with the kids especially. The Camp shop was small but equipped with everything you might need - a little pricy but that's to be expected I suppose. The Location of the site is ideal - far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Newquay town but only 2 mins drive away to local/shops amenities. Visitor attractions are close at hand whichever direction you take from the campsite - some lovely costal drives and beaches to visit. If you don't want to drive then there are some lovely walks and a bus stop just down the road. Even though the weather was very changeable during our stay the camp was always spotless and kept to its upmost standard. All in all we were happy with what Treloy had to offer and at a very reasonable price I might add compared to most places which charge for everything down to toilet paper. We had a lovely stay at Treloy and met some lovely people and we will definitely return again one day soon!
