We stayed here for Friday / Saturday night of the second August bank holiday. They don't insist on a 3 night minimum as some sites do, which suits us as Clare works on Mondays.

The site very well maintained and neat and tidy. The toilet / shower block has four 'rooms' in it, each with a shower, sink and toilet. There are further toilets around the site in the form of portaloos. They were all spotless when we visited.

Most of the site is on a steep slope with some terracing to provide flat areas for pitching tents and larger flat spaces at the top and bottom. We pitched our tent on one of the terraced areas.

There are numbered pitching areas which were quite small in the area we picked. Our tent + awning (7m in total) ended up taking two spaces, with the fire pit & chairs in a third. The warden didn't object though, and we were only changed for one tent (£15). There were no additional charges for children either.

The Warden was very friendly and helpful. We also did the Falconry tour (£5). I can recommend this to anyone staying here. Dian really knows her stuff and gave a very interesting and informative tour.

The site is next to the National Herb Centre, which we visited on the way home and wished we had gone there the day before. There's a good children’s play area there and they do good food (far better than the wobbly Wheel - the local pub we went to on Saturday).

We also visited Upton House, a National Trust property in the area. This has all the usual good stuff from NT places - something to entertain the children and a good cream tea! There are a few other National Trust properties around as well.

We didn't get time to go to Warwick Castle (26 min drive according to Google Maps) so will go back next year for that. This site is firmly on our list of places to go back to.

Clean and tidy site with the most amazing views.

Pitches are of a good size and not too close to each other so there is a real sense of space around you. Considering it was peak holiday season the site was lovely and quiet and an excellent place to be for a relaxing get away from it all holiday.

The site grounds were kept spotlessly maintained. However, the same sadly cannot be said for the facilities in the shower block.

The toilets and hand basins were always clean with an endless supply of toilet roll and hand soap. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the shower left a lot to be desired. Having said that there was constant hot water and no time limit which was a positive.

There is a falconry on site which I suggest you book in advance of your stay if that's your thing, as we seemed to have no luck whilst on our 8 night stay. If you are lucky you may see the birds being flown just outside your van/tent. This was magical!

The site is dog friendly and there are dog walking fields where you can let them off their leads and be free.

Lots of things to do and see. We went to the zoo in Burford which was dog friendly, well worth a day trip.

Bourton on the water, dog friendly little car and toy museum. Stratford upon Avon, dog friendly trip on the river boat plus lots, lots more.

To sum up. This is an amazing little site in a beautiful area. If you need a chill out break, this is the place!

We are at this site as I write this review. At first the site seems very pleasant, the facilities are quite good. The setting is very picturesque. But all day long there is the noise of gun fire from a neighbouring field. It is now 19. 50pm and the gun fire is still in full swing. This in turn sets the dogs off barking on the site. For these reasons I would not return to this site again.

This site is a little gem. Tucked away down a small hill, the site is neat and tidy, and very well situated, the warden, (Sean) is helpful and informative. There is a small falconry on site, which we didn't visit, but looked well from what we could see.

We stopped 10 nights. The pitches in the main are level, although we had to move our tent after 6 nights, (Which we originally booked for), and for our last 4 nights the pitch was on a slope, but we coped. The toilet block was clean and tidy, the cubicles had wc/basin/shower in each one, if they were busy, there were 'portaloos' around the site, which were very clean. We couldn't really fault this site, although we would say, (didn't apply to us), if you pitched on the main tent area, it was a bit of a trek to the showers, we were fairly close.

There is a village nearby, and an excellent butchers/grocers near the entrance to the site, it has to be said though, that it is a fairly steep climb off the site if you choose to walk, we drove to the top of the lane, and left the car there, and walked across to the village. (5 mins). Loads to see and do in the area, British motor museum is just down the road. Banbury is no more than 6 mins. Drive.

Would we visit again, absolutely, would we recommend it, absolutely again. Very quiet, great location. £15 per night, with electric, can't fault it really. Thank you.

Just got back from a weekend stay at Fir Tree Farm.

This was our 3rd outing in our first caravan. Having looked for reviews of sites within an hour of home, Fir Tree farm caught my eye. I was looking for somewhere that had on site fishing and a nice location.

We arrived on Friday the 9th of August for a 2 night stay, the site is not far from the M40 and the approach to the site is good, which for novice towers like me is ideal. The sat nav took us right to the main gate which is clearly signposted.

The site is made up of 2 levels a high level which is immediately on your right as you enter the site, and a lower level which is where the bigger of the 2 lakes is. As I intended to fish that's where we headed. The gravel driveway to the lower site is very steep and I have to be honest did give me a little cause for concern, but to be honest I think it just looked worse from the top.

The view as you descend into the lower site is breathtaking, set in beautiful country side with a lovely view of the lake.

We were met by the site warden who is very friendly and more than helpful, once we had paid £ 15. 00 per night including hookup, which I thought was very reasonable. He directed us onto our pitch. One thing I really liked was that unlike some sites the pitches are all spread around the site and this gives it a really nice informal feeling.

Although we didn't need to use the showers the all seemed to be in very good order. Not perhaps as spotless as some we have seen but good enough.

We visited Stratford on Avon on the Saturday which is just 13 mile away, you also have the national motor heritage museum right on the doorstep.

In summary this is a great site, and one we will definitely be visiting again. They also have a falconry centre on site.

Went to Fir Tree as recommended and its local so perfect for a first night out in our first Caravan.

First of all do not trust your satnav - our took us through villages whereas we could have gone along a nearby main road a lot easier.

On arrival you go down a very steep road - was a bit steeper than I expected considering pulling a caravan for the first time but we did it OK.

The Warden was very helpful and friendly and so were a couple of other campers who advised me in a non patronising way given this was our first time in a Caravan.

The site was beautiful -you could have been miles from anywhere it was that peaceful and relaxing, the weather helped but the site was great - unisex Toilets/Showers with cubicles containing both a loo & shower (Good shower as well) that were big enough for the family to go in together so no worrying about the little ones.

No playground but a big hill to run up and down.

Just down the road is the National Herb Centre which is quite nice and in the other direction you have a few pubs and a Caravan shop -Caravan Land -this was extremely useful as our 10m Hookup cable from the Campervan days was to short to reach.

If it had a playground I would have given it 10 but apart from that its going to be a hard one to top -especially at £15 a night inc hookup

We are just back from a week at Fir Tree Farm and we will definitely be going back. The facilities at the site were clean and well appointed with a loo, wash basin and shower in each cubicle (4). We were quite close to the loo block which was an advantage as there was only the one as far as we could see and it is quite a big site. If we go again we will ask for the same pitch. The grass was well mowed and the ground reasonably flat if a little on the hard side as there hadn't been rain for some time. Our first four days were marred by high winds but once the gales had died down it was perfect there. The M40 is quite close by and, once the wind had veered round we could hear it, but only faintly, certainly not enough to spoil a good night's sleep! Can't wait to go again.

Absolutely delightful site. Amazing views of beautiful valley. Great showers. Lovely people. Wonderful walks, including great village pubs although a little disappointed with the locals response to bringing us an alternative steak without asking if that was OK or actually even mentioning it. Rather arrogant, we thought. But obviously no reflection on the fabulous campsite. We will return and have been slightly reluctant to leave a review in case it increases popularity and we find its full next time!

I have been here a week, site lovely, very picturesque. I found the hardstanding pitches very level. Also a lot of space between caravans.

Toilet block with showers if needed. My only criticism is that the ground is sandy, my Awning is covered and the Awning carpet, well wants washing.

Very social site ranger. Helps and is polite. Good site for drawing and painting. Arts.

1 Fishing lake available if you want to fish. Stocked but not well stocked.

Maybe summer fishing only, from what I can tell.

Will go back to this site in the summer next year.

Just arrived back fom 2 days at the site and pleasantly surprised, good fishing and a pub 20mins walk which served real ale! Shower block near camping areas were great and free, no need for the odd 20p and not time restricted. Tent sites all flat with great views over the local countryside. Wardens friendly and happy to help and only 20mins from centre of banbury. Would recommend and look forward to visiting agian next year,
