I have used this site a couple of times - the last at the end of April during the bank holiday weekend while I visited the Cheltenham jazz festival. I was on hard-standing (+ EHU) next to the lake. The site was full and there were queues for the gents showers unless you got there early.
The toilet/shower block was a short walk away and was clean with good facilities, although clearly not enough for that weekend. A covered washing-up area is next to the showers/toilets and around the corner past the barrier are the reception/shop and information rooms as well as a social room.
The staff have always been very friendly and helpful (as mentioned elsewhere, they offered me a choice of pitches depending on how quiet a stay I wanted). The local duck population was also friendly, with mother duck + ducklings sitting down on my pitch to watch me set up the utility tent.
Radio (analogue), TV (digital) and 3G ('3') reception were non-existent on my pitch and mobile reception (O2) was poor. The only other downside was the constant droning of the water pump/filter in the middle of the lake which seemed to run from mid-morning to late evening.
Cheltenham is about 10 minutes away by road and there is a park-and-ride scheme most days from the race course. There was a pretty good food market on during the weekend I was there, in addition to the wide variety of shops.
I also visited Bourton-on-the-Water (nice, with a small motor museum and plenty of places to eat but too busy due to all of us visitors!), Stow-on-the-Wold (market town, also very busy, free parking next to the Tesco on the outskirts if you don't mind a short walk) and Tewkesbury (worth visiting the abbey. And guess what, busy with some difficulty parking).
I will definitely use this site again.

The best and friendliest site I have ever visited, the staff couldn't do enough to help me and as I and a biker it was a pleasant change. We have had two weeks here it is amazing well done to all.The toilets were spotless, showers great, shop has most things, discounts at local pub for meals, mobile chip van twice a week. Lake for fishing, grass kept mown. Pitches were good. The country side was great with plenty of information available at reception. We would thoroughly recommend this site.
The dog walk was welcome and kept clean the children's play ground was basic but good. Other people on site spoke, it was the whole atmosphere was so pleasant and friendly, staff always willing to help if they could.

We have just returned from this site after 1 night to test out our new Caravan. We are a family of 5 with 3 boys under the age of 11 and a puppy!
The Managers Sue and Ian were extremely helpful and friendly and they really did everything they could to support our first caravan trip.
The site is one of the best C & CC sites we have been to and the new toilets and showers just add to the overall high standard. The showers are the push in timed style and there were hair dyers for 20p. The wash basins had soap for quick hand washing.
The shop was well stocked with those little essentials you might need as well as ice creams and some lovely looking local produce.
There was a recreation room containing snooker(2 x 20p), bar football (1x20p), board games and skittles.
All of the facilities were spotlessly clean.
Most of the pitches seemed to be hard standing and they were well laid out. We picked one offering us a good view of the children's play area. And it wasn't too far from the facilities but some of the lower pitches would be a little further to walk.
The play area was fenced off and contained a slide, 2 swings and a ball area with a football goal.
The lake had a fence all around it, although a determined youngster could get through.
There was an excellent dog walk, again with a fence around it, and all around the site there were dog waste bins.
Being next to a lake and in the countryside the wildlife was in abundance. Be ready with the bread as we were hassled by a very determined Duck and her 9 ducklings in the morning and didn't have anything to give them!
The weather, however, was heavy rain for most of the night but in the morning there wasn't any problems with drainage that we could see.
We will definitely be back and thank you, Sue & Ian, once again for helping to make our first trip so enjoyable.

Just got back from this site after taking part in The Hell of The North Cotswold's mountain bike ride
The site is very secure and well looked after and has very good clean facilities with excellent helpful staff who are always keen to help
The site is well laid out with water and waste water facilities all close by
There is a small play area with a couple of swings and a climbing frame and a small goal for kids to play football
The dog walk area is next to the play area but there are plenty of dog waste bins around the site
The only improvement I would make would be for an additional chemical disposal point down the other end of the site as its a fair walk if your down the bottom end, that is not a criticism of the site but it would improve it
Whilst we were there we visited The Gardeners Arms in Alderton which is only 5 minutes away in the car, the pub is lovely and the food was excellent and to make it even better we got a 25% discount voucher from the campsite reception so it was good value as well !
We will definitely go back

Have just returned from this site and I agree with other reviewers. This site is easy to find and the location is beautiful. We were lucky to have a pitch backing on to the lake and it was a good size, plenty of room for awning and the car. There was a large grassed area behind the caravan which was perfect for the dog.
The toilet blocks were spotless and even the Gents had fresh flowers in them, you are given a code for the shower block and exit barrier.
There was a small wooded area for walking the dog but next to the lovely lodges there is a public foot path which our dog loved.
The Gardeners Arms in Alderton does some good meals and also allows dogs to go in.
There is a footpath opposite the camp site entrance across the fields which goes to Alderton, it takes about 15 min to walk it.
There is a small children's playground with a couple of swings, slide and a football goal.
All in all this is a great site and I have no hesitation in recommending it. Will definitely return again

We liked:
Wardens all very pleasant and helpful, escorting us to our pitch as CCC Wardens always do.
Signs with rules about what to do or not do were kept to a minimum.
When the toilets shut in the morning for cleaning, you can use the disabled toilet (some sites have no alternative place to go to).
It's a big site but feels smaller because the little wood around the fishing pond in the middle screens the views across the site. With regard to another review about the pitches being too close together, I think the legal minimum is 6 metres (for the fire hazard) but we didn't feel hemmed in as there was plenty of grass behind our pitch.
A better dog run than many sites, with a mown path through young woodland.
The motorhome service point was useful though a hose would be helpful.
Quiet at night, with the sound of owls. Minimum lighting so you can see the stars.
It was only 10 minutes from the motorway for our 10 hour drive home.
Good powerful free and nicely hot showers.
Separate sink cubicles for privacy if needed.
Minor complaints might be:
It sells itself as being in the heart of the Cotswolds but it's at the very edge.
It's over the hill and not walking distance from its pretty 'name town' of Winchcombe.
The laundry closes at 9 pm - it was tight to get the mid-holiday wash done and dried after a full day out.
There may be a problem with satellite TV coverage: not a problem for us (no TV) but a nearby pitch was using some tracking device to try to tune the dish for half an hour, which made a really invasive constant whistling noise.
Would we come again? yes.

Very nice site which is kept spotlessly clean. Toilet and shower block is superb. There are plenty of local walks in the area with public footpaths to Gretton and Alderton adjacent to the site. The very helpful site staff also have a folder of local walks. On visiting Gretton be sure to call in at The Bugatti Inn to say hello to Sean and Candi who are the friendliest and most welcoming of hosts serving excellent food and superb beer, your children and dogs are also welcomed.
All in all a very nice place to spend your holiday.

Booked at the last minute because our pre-booked site at the Lake District was clearly going to be a wash-out, and we needed some nice camping weather. The lovely owners managed to get us a hook-up pitch near to the play area for 4 nights. What a wonderful peaceful site. Even though it was busy, you never felt hemmed in at all.
The kids play area was very basic with 2 swings (one a baby swing) and a small frame with a slide and a section with a goal. The kids preferred to play with their mates in the woods (also the dog walking area), so we knew they were safe as it's near the play area.
Toilets and showers, plenty of them and immaculate and clean. Showers free (press button) and lovely & hot.
Lake for fishing and lots of ducks around the site to feed.
We made the wrong assumption that the clubhouse was a licensed bar! It was a games room with board games, bowls and a pool table. Still nice for the kids though.
No pubs within walking distance. Gardeners Arms get 25% of the bill if you get a voucher from the info room. Food was only average really.
Left out of the site is another pub 'Hobnails Inn' was nice also with early bird deal for a carvery, but £11. 50 for poached salmon? Carvery nice though.
Lots of nice places to visit, Bourton-on the water and Broadway lovely. If it's wet, try the leisure centre in Tewkesbury (timetable in reception)! Fab.
No recycling on site which is a shame, but otherwise no quibbles at all, and the friendliness of staff was wonderful.
I would highly recommend this site.

A lovely, well kept site. The site managers are friendly and welcoming. We were guided to our pitch and told precisely where to set up. We were a tent wanting an EHU so were right at the back of the site. This is great because you hear little road noise. However, it is a long walk to the showers and toilets, and washing up area. If you're a tent not wanting an EHU you are much nearer the facilities but then you'd hear more road noise. I was pleased to see that children had to play ball games in the play area and this was policed. The shop was well stocked with the essentials. It is very handy for the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Preserved Railway.

We spent a week at this site and really enjoyed ourselves.
The wardens were friendly enough, gave us a nice welcome even though it was very heavy rain, took us to our pitch and showed us where everything was. Always helpful and cheerful when we saw them.
Toilets looked new so must have been updated. 5 toilets, 4 showers and 2 private sink cubicles. Always clean and tidy. Only problem was the hairdryers cost 20p for about a minute!
We had pitch 16 which backed onto the lake, we just fitted the FC, awning and car on it. But had a grassed area so that we could sit out, which was fine.
The dog walk was adequate for our Westie. The play area was okay, we had our teenage daughter with us, she used the Recreation Room a lot.
T-Mobile not available on the site, Orange seemed to be fine. We took the laptop but couldn't get logged on via our T-Mobile phone, as the site Wi Fi was very expensive and a bit hit and miss.
TV Signal was poor, we only managed to get Sky News and a few other channels, others were able to get BBC channels, it was again, hit and miss.
The Gardner's Arms in Alderton was nice, we had a meal there, get a voucher from Reception. Bit pricey! You can walk to it, about 20 mins from the site through fields.
The site shop didn't have a lot in it and only opened for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. There is a Morrisons at Tewkesbury which was about 10 miles away, also a Tesco at Stow on the Wold.
Loads of places to visit, my personal favourites were Bourton-on-the-water and Broadway.
