A group of us from work, about 8 in total, booked for a couple of nights at Bankhouse Farm over this weekend just gone (10-12 of May).
It had been raining quite heavily for the previous few days but the ground didn't seem to be too bad.
The site owner booked us in and from then on called us all by our first names and was very friendly. The facilities were very clean and more than adequate for a site of it's size.
The area is absolutely outstanding. The scenery is pretty breathtaking.
When we came to set up, the wind had picked up considerably so we decided to wait an hour to see if it settled down. Off we went to the Manifold Inn across the road. A great pub with good service and excellent food.
We got back an hour later and set up during a lull in the wind. We didn't bother getting the firepit out as it was still drizzling and didn't look like letting off.
We asked to be put over in the corner by the dog walking field as a few of us had our dogs with us and we would also be away from other campers and as a group we may have been a bit noisy for other campers (as it turns out we were quieter than some of the other campers!).
We didn't really sleep much on Saturday night and awoke Sunday morning to see the stream next to our pitches had risen dramatically and was threatening to flood us out.
Over hot coffee and toast we decided to call it a day and pack up. The weather forecast was more torrential rain and we didn't fancy getting stuck.
The site owner came down and to his credit, offered us a couple of nights free when the weather got better as way of compensation. He didn't have to do that and that goes some way to showing how nice he is.
I'll add some pictures, if I can to show how bad the rain was.
I am planning to return in the summer (if we get one) as it's such a nice site in a great location at a reasonable price.

This site is perfect for a family break in the Peak District. There were 3 families in our party, each with our own tents, and had a superb time relaxing and enjoying the full camping experience with a camp fire.
The owners could not be more helpful. The owner is always at hand when needed and makes the site feel very welcoming.
Pub opposite is very handy and the scenery superb.
My father in law also stayed on site in a caravan utilising a electric hook up pitch. He feels it is one of the best sites he has had the pleasure of visiting.
Will definitely be back.

Stayed at Bank House Farm 1st May bank holiday and enjoyed every minute of it. The pitches are of various size on electric so check with the owner when booking with the size of your tent, we had pitch 26 which was of good size for my Outwell Nevada M with front awning. Like all the other reviews say on here, the owners are excellent, nothing is too much trouble, as there's no Vodafone coverage Wayne let us use his house phone to contact some friends who where staying at Hartington, which was very good of him. I'm not going to ramble on about the site as it is fantastic and has gone into my top 5 site's, but you will have to travel for the shop's as the village shop has gone. We went to Bakewell for a visit and supplies and also walked the Manifold Valley Trail to Thor's cave which is a must for anybody staying. All I can say is check out the reviews and their website and book it, you won't be disappointed, we'll be booking again for this year.

We stayed on this lovely site April 24/26th. We were welcomed by the owner who showed us our pitch and gave us all the relevant info, our pitch was next to the manifold river and a great peaceful spot, the toilet and shower block was clean and tidy with no extra cost for shower, plenty of loo roll too. There's a pub right across the road and loads of walks around the area.
This is a lovely quiet spot and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site to anyone, also if you have dogs there is a huge dog walking field, enjoy.
Be careful turning in and out of site because its on a blind bend.

We stayed here last week for our 1st ever camping trip and we loved it. It's such a peaceful site to stay. We had electric hook up and was just by the steam which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. We were shown around the facilities as we arrived. The loo's and shower area always looked like it had just been cleaned every time we went up to them. And we found the fridge/freezer very useful. Our pitch was nice and flat and a good size.
We loved the fact that the pub was just across the road. We had 2 meals in there, both were lovely and fresh.
All in all a lovely place to stay and we have already enquired about another stay.

We have visited Bank Hall Farm a couple of times a year for around the last five years and have never got around to posting a review, so finally after a lovely long Easter break the time has come!
We usually opt to stay in the large field over the bridge from the farm and park our motorhome next to the stream that passes through the site. This years first camping trip was another great long weekend in the Manifold valley. Some of the many things that keep bringing us back to this site are its location, its helpful owners and the friendly campers this site attracts.
Whilst we don't have children ourselves the friendly family atmosphere on the site was lots of fun, when the sun was shining we even joined an impromptu game of cricket with some of our neighbours!
Although we are generally self sufficient when I have visited the facilities they have always been kept to a high standard, even on a busy bank holiday.
Activity wise, you can walk down the Manifold trail, just around the corner from the site and the village of Hartington is up the road. Just next to the site is the lovely Manifold Inn which is highly recommended for Sunday lunch or evening meals.
We would highly recommend this site if you enjoy a quiet break next to the river or a location for a family break, you won't be disappointed.

Just returned from a three night stay at Bank House Farm.
Spotless toilets and showers (free), plenty of toilet roll, hand towels and hand soap, didn't have to wait to use them.
Great location, pub just across the road, reasonable beer prices, food very good, we had an evening meal and breakfast. If you want to eat there for an evening meal we would advise you book a table as it gets busy at the weekend.
Shop less than five minutes walk away - stocks everything and shop owner's very friendly.
Wayne, campsite owner, was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The grass could have done with a cut as it was very dewy in the night/morning, so keep that in mind for a pair of wellies for trips in the night/morning to the toilets at this time of year.
There is free use of the fridge and freezer (great for ice blocks) and lots of local information handy.
We didn't find the road noise intrusive as we were the far end of the field. Some great views and places to walk from the camp.
The ducks that live by the river are very friendly and have no issues with coming to say hello and eat the worms as you lift your ground sheet up!
Yes we would return to this site.

This was our first night 'try it' camping night before going on a long trip. Chose Bank House Farm based on previous reviews, they are not wrong. The site is superbly located and facilities excellent - didn't have to queue for toilets/showers or wash facilities. Owner is excellent - even provided us with hook up cable despite having our own. Pub is nice, told food good but noticed service a bit slow.
Am booking a long stay at Bank House in next few weeks - this was an excellent first trip out.

Just returned home, from an excellent weekend camping at this site with friends,
Spotlessly clean everywhere
Very child friendly
Very good site owners, regular campsite checks
Shop near by, good selection
Pub at junction, again good
Will return
Hartington village beautiful, good selection in the cheese shop
We were on the second camp site which doesn't have facilities so you have a two minuet walk across to the main site to shower, I didn't find this a problem, as I really thought this site was so well maintained and had lovely campers and caravanners staying there
Not a noisy site

Just back from a 2 night stay. Nice site but be warned - if you are camping on the Meadow Field there are no facilities on this side of the road! We did find this a bit off putting initially as we were camping with our young children and the toilets are a good few minutes walk away across the road and up a hill to the main farm building - in fact the pub toilets are closer! This is something that the owners failed to mention to us when booking and would put us off from returning in all honesty.
