We spent ten days here and overall is was a good site. It has two toilet blocks one which is nice and modern and the other could perhaps be updated but everything was in good working order.
Rafael laid on music over several nights on our stay and it was good fun I even got to play guitar in an open mike night! One of the things I quite liked is chickens roaming around the site although the cockerels crowing at 5am in the morning may not be to everyones liking - it didn't bother me! The Chateau is quite interesting and there are talks given about the family history. We booked this site through the caravan and camping club and it was a more costly pitch yet I think the facilities and entertainment would probably effect the overall cost. The site has a shop and nice restaurant which we used a lot. Would possibly go back - Mainly British people staying when we were there.

Stayed here for an overnighter on our way back from. We had previously spent a week here in 2006, our first camping trip in France and remembered it slightly differently, rose tinted glasses and all that. What struck me most on returning was just how many people on site are British. If you're looking for camping with different nationalities you're not going to find many here!
Whilst our pitch was a good size for our 2 x 2 berth tents some other pitches seemed quite a bit smaller and some of the caravans seemed very close to one another.
On arrival, friendly welcome and taken to our pitch to make sure it was OK. Toilets were OK, the old block is still old and needs updating. The new blocks could have done with a bit more cleaning. Nice touch with the family bathrooms behind the bar. Restaurant food was nice.
Glad our pitch wasn't next to the pond as it was very murky looking. Swimming pool was smaller than I remembered but at least it is a good depth. We had visitors in the form of the chickens. OK if you like hens but could freak you out if you don't. Think this was our most expensive pitch of our holidays. Would I go back again, probably not!

Been to this site many times over the years always at spring half term as our children get two weeks. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Beaches at Trouville and Villers. Honfleur is a nice town to spend half a day or more. You can get to the D day beaches. Loads of towns and villages to explore. Or there’s a zoo on the way to Lisieux, there’s all sorts to do.
The site is excellent, relaxed and well laid out. It has a very safe feel about it to let the children roam free a bit more. The owners are really friendly and nothing seems a problem. There are 3 toilet blocks, all clean and tidy. The oldest one has had some comments but it is what it is, as long as I can remember it’s always been the same. However it functions perfectly.
There is a restaurant on site which is ok if you don’t want to cook. The shop is quite well stocked and has fresh bread and croissants. It can be a bit expensive compared to the supermarkets but when needs must!
There is plenty for children to do though I would say it’s probably more geared towards primary and junior age. Saying that, this year I did see a couple of teenagers using the pool etc. Then doing some revision in the sun. There are two pools both heated, yet they can feel a little fresh.
A lot of families do go back each year so that must say something about the place. If you’ve booked I don’t think you should have any worries.

We used this campsite as a one-night stop-over en route to the Channel ports. It has lots of potential but we would not wish to prolong our stay. The sign-posting to the site from the south was poor and we do not like open-plan campsites without pitches. The staff were friendly but did not offer sufficient information, hiding the existence of a modern toilet block and thus condemning us to a 70s block. The pool was adequate and the restaurant good, if a little understaffed in early July. It needs to buck up before we shall return for a prolonged stay and is the poorest Castels site we have visited - usually they are excellent.

Amazing! Stunning location next to the lake, very relaxed atmosphere and great staff.
We arrived and it looked busy, so had resigned ourselves to early mornings, however the site was so quiet and we didn't wake up until 9.30 most mornings
Shop had the basics but nearby supermarket was better value
Great option of a bar in the main lodge from 9pm - run by the owner and he is very chilled out
And this adds to the atmosphere
Family rabbit makes daily visits to all people around the lake and the chickens roam freely around the site - a nice touch
Would def return

Visited Le Brevedent for 3 nights. Beautiful, quiet laid back site with friendly staff and great facilities. One of the blocks is outdated but all clean and tidy. The new block is fantastic with great bath facilities for our little girl of 10 months.
The restaurant wasn't open but they did take away - best ever take away I've ever eaten in our tent! France isn't cheap and this was the most expensive campsite on our trip but well worth it.

Not much I can add to the previous reviews except to say what a FAB site and one that we will definitely be returning to. This site has a wonderful laid back feel about it, efficient but casual - just the way camping should be. All the staff are friendly, helpful and polite and speak perfect English although there are quite a few different nationalities camping on site.
Our pitch was flat, large and well positioned. We've got a big tent (Khyam Ontario 8) with porch and had no problem fitting it on our pitch in the orchard with room to spare. The electric point was quite some way away though, our 10m lead just reached - didn't know they had extensions to borrow! It was lovely and quiet at night once the children (ours included!) had gone to bed and the parks emptied. As previously mentioned, there's no club or disco and no gangs of teenagers roaming the site.
The toilet block nearest us was a bit old but once we'd found the block near the Chateau we walked to that as it was sparkling with modern facilities and baby baths / showers and handbasins in each of the cubicles. Electric sockets did seem in short supply though if you didn't have hook up and I didn't see any hairdryers. The monastery bells do clang at 7 am but we got used to it. The cockerel also makes his morning announcements-but that's the country for you!
Used the restaurant once, average food, above average prices. The takeaway pizzas were delicious though. The cafe serves a mean baguette for lunch and also has free wi-fi for anyone with room for their laptop. The Château doubles as a bar once the sun goes down. As previously mentioned, the little shop holds some essentials, but marked up, sometimes double - you are after all a captive audience! No supermarket on the doorstep - we went to the HyperU on the Deauville road.
With regards to the distance from Calais, we cruised at the speed limit and drove from Le Brevedent to the tunnel in 2 hours on a Wednesday. Why queue on the M5 to Cornwall when you could be here quicker!
I think it says it all that we didn't want to leave. Fantastic.

I can only imagine the negative reviews are to stop people going - leaving it for those of us who have been. If you have booked this site be confident that you have done well. The facilities - showers etc are clean, very good condition. The pool is a little fresh for me but the kids were fine - hot days helped that. Shop expensive but very handy for everything. Supermarket 15 mins maximum away. Restaurant I felt was very reasonably priced and good quality.
One down side is the mini sewage treatment down near the stream - it does get very smelly, worth booking a pitch away from it.
The staff are fantastic and both adults and kids had a great time.

We have just spent 9 nights at this site and we really enjoyed our stay. I must admit, I was a bit worried about the mixed reviews .
We had a warm welcome, check in was very swift and we were told that we were to pay when we left not on arrival which we were surprised about but also pleased as if we wanted we could move on early without losing any money. We had a big pitch(got our tent 8m x 9m, a kyham shelter, a 6x 4 trailer and our car on the pitch and still had room to put sun loungers and washing out to dry) and fairly private. EHU was quite a long way from our pitch and we had to run our cable across the pitch next to us but we borrowed an extension cable from the site at no extra cost.
The nearest toilet and shower block was pretty old but we found the nice new ones. The new block has nice size cubicles with sinks, showers and some with baby baths (take a plug!). Could easily take both my kids into a cubicle and get us all washed and dressed no probs. I would advise using the older shower block if you want a shower late morning as the hot water did run out in the new block fairly early. Old block clean and does the job and usually quieter.
For kids under 12s I would say this site is spot on. Excellent play areas for kids, lovely new one right outside the restaurant (also a bar here and pizza take away), another play area next to the lake. You can hire boats for the lake and golf clubs for mini golf and table tennis bats etc. Thers's a football field, 2 pools (although heated they were cold!) one is for toddlers as its only 60cm deep but my 3 year old loved it. A café with wi fi and play area outside. Stream with bridges and a wood to play in, a big old tree that they can climb in, lots of tracks to cycle round the site. There’s a bar in the house with a pool table. A kids club. In fact the site was so good my kids (8 and 3yrs) never wanted to go out anywhere!
The site shop is expensive but we only bought our croissants there in the morning and the odd ice cream. There is free internet access in the reception area but limited to 15 minutes each. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer (tokens at reception 3 euros each).
The area in general is very pretty and I would love to go back and explore without 2 kids in tow! Lots of sightseeing and history but to be honest not that much for my kids to do without paying a fortune, especially if it’s wet. We did go to Naturespace one rainy day and paid 27 euros for 45 minutes worth of entertainment (and I made them go round twice)! Apparently the zoo in Lisieux was good but again we thought it quite pricey so didn’t go. DO NOT go to the aquarium on the sea front in Trouville, it is disgusting. Went to Juno beach museum which was very good. Honfleur is fab.
Be warned, as someone else has pointed out the church bell does wake you up at 7am and it goes on forever! We did get used to it and could ignore it after a few days. We found it quite funny in the end. My only gripe about the site would be that where we were pitched we did get wafts of drain smell which wasn’t very pleasant.
Another point to make is that although google and sat nav say this site is about 3hrs 20 minutes from Calais we found that most people said they took about 4.5 hours! Be warned! Only 40 mins from Le harve though.

Just got back from this site. We loved it and I wanted to leave a review as some of the reviews on this site had me worried before we went.
The pitches were among the apple trees and my only critisism was that they were a little small but then we have a massive tent and we managed! There was a lake and anyone could hire paddles for 2euros a go, this means you can use the open canoes provided. There were life jackets available too. Fishing was permitted although my husband didn't catch any but we saw the huge carp jumping out of the water!
There was 2 outdoor pools (one for smaller children) though only heated to 25oC so pretty cold.
There was a kids club but didn't use this so can't review.
The chateau was a bar at night with pool table. We were pitched right next to the chateau and only one night was there any noise. There was a restaurant with playground right outside (genius!) and a cafe.
There was also a play area down near the lake with more playground equipment and badminton/volleyball courts) there was chickens in a run here too. Outside the cafe on the lawn was some Little Tikes play houses and slide for toddlers.
The toilet blocks were lovely too (3 blocks of which 1 was old and not so nice but we were lucky enough to be near the new ones!).
There was washing up rooms at each toilet block and the one we were near had washing machine and dryer (coin operated).
They had a fab little shop too which opened at 8am and by that time the bakery had delivered baguettes and pain au chocolat! Also sold basic groceries and things as well as locally produced Cider and Calvados, honey and preserves.
The reception had more tourist info than you would need for a months stay! The staff were so friendly and helpful and there is a computer in reception you can use for 15 mins at a time to keep up with your emails! Also wireless internet was available in and around the cafe or restaurant.
There was so many places to visit and things to do we found it hard to choose! We had a lovely day at Deauville on the beach. We spent a day visiting a Fromagerie (Graindorge - amazing FREE tour) and a Calvados distillery and then there was the afternoon at the medieval jousting at a Chateau that was all set up as it would have been in the year 1492. Also recommended is nearby Pont L'Eveque lake which has boating and a ropes course for children as well as an aerial slide accross to an island for adults and older children. There was also mini golf and quad bikes. We also went to the Marche a l'ancienne at Pont L'Eveque on Sunday and you must try the Tart Normande (apple pastry tart!). Not to mention the Normandy Beaches and all the associated museums, memorials and cemeteries.
Highly recommend both the site and the region.
I suppose if I was forced to think of negatives then these are the small niggles: The site slopes down to the lake and they have terraced the pitches to make them as level as possible. We found that ours wasn't as level as it looked and our airbed sort of slid to one side during the night! The pitches are on the small side and as we were with 3 other families it didn't matter but you could end up very close to a noisy bunch (like us!). But these niggles were SO minor that overall I have to give this site 9/10 at least. I would like to go back and in fact we talked to lots of people there who were returning for the 3rd or 4th time. There was lots of English people there but also Dutch and French people and the previous reviews had me thinking it was going to be like Butlins but it wasn't it was lovely.
