Large flat grass field with clean toilets, no showers, fair walk in to Pickering down long lane about mile and half, didn't like the fact most of the caravans were letting the waste water just drain onto the grass, owner was aware, peacock, chickens n alpacas on site were nice to watch, fresh eggs for sale, short dog walk by the river with swans nesting, would go again for a weekend especially if sun was shining

We have just had a very pleasant 4 night stay on a very well kept and clean farm. The toilets were immaculate with hot water to the hand basins. The pitches were the biggest and flattest we have been on. Fantastic hosts who obviously work very hard to make this site as good as it is. The animals were great fun to watch and the eggs which were fresh every day were to die for. The nature walk which is also very well kept was a real delight. The access road was no problem as there are passing places but we never met any other vehicle it is a no through road. The gates are locked at 11pm for security purposes but we were told if we were going to be out later arrangements would be made.
Nothing is too much trouble. Sadly no showers. We will certainly be returning, there is so much do in the surrounding area. Try the open air museum at Hutton-le-Hole.

This was our first time in any part of Yorkshire, and it is our belief that we could not have chosen a better site to stay on.
Yes this site might be small, but you'll have to go a long way to find such Friendlier owners and their family.
I am recovering from an serious illness and on our arrival they pitched our caravan and made sure it was level for us and even got our water for us every time we needed it.
The farm is about 1. 5 miles from Pickering itself with plenty of fish and chip shops and all the other usual take away's
The toilet block is small but spotlessly clean and very well kept, it seemed to me that no sooner had someone used it then the owners were there cleaning it again, there is both male and female toilets.
If you are animal lovers then you will love their Alpaca's, goats and the chickens then there is Holly the horse.
It is so quiet and peaceful there and on a cloudless night where it is so pitch black you can see all the star constellations without the use of telescopes or binoculars.
My wife and I can't wait to return there again next year

We wouldn't have normally booked a campsite so close to home but with hotels fully booked & a party to attend we travelled the short distance to Westgate Carr Farm & so glad we did!
The approach just through the centre of Pickering is a picturesque tree lined country lane & although only a mile out of Pickering you could be fooled into thinking you were miles from anywhere!
The owners personally greeted us on arrival & took great interest in our outfit as they too had owned a 747 Argos a few years earlier!
We were shown to the campsite & offered a choice of pitches to suit our needs
We chose to pitch up near the Alpacas affording great views over open fields & the Moors & what a lovely setting it was. Pitche sizes are extremely generous & very rarely available for such a large outfit
Warm sunshine & only the sounds of birds (& a few distant tractors) simply glorious!
Facilities are basic but Dave explained planning permission had been granted for a new toilet & shower block which was to be built over the winter period
We asked for details of the local taxi company to avoid the walk into our party in Pickering but Dave declined & actually took us in their car offering to collect us as well
Taxi's must be a rare breed in Pickering & rather embarrassingly we rang the owners at 11. 30 at night & Dave came & collected us!
I can't ever recall such a personal service ever being offered anywhere else in the 20 years we have been camping? It seems that Westgate Carr Farm have a number of very loyal customers & deservedly so
Although close to home we will definitely return even if only to buy them a beer or look for the family of otters that somebody had seen a couple of days earlier
Saw the Egret when leaving & didn't know they ' got up North' so that was a positive as was hearing all the owls at night!
Didn't get chance to use the Nature walk sadly
At £15. 00 per night you can't go wrong

What a lovely site, I cant praise it enough. Owned by a friendly and welcoming family. Bins were emptied every day and the toilets were cleaned every morning. Lovely walk to the river which the dog loved swimming in (was tempted to jump in myself) and short walk into Pickering. Amazing views with huge pitches. We'd highly recommend this site. Long country lane to the site which only helps its exclusivity and not a problem with our twin axle caravan.

This has all the makings of a good site, big pitches, flat, free draining, near to Pickering however, the access road is very narrow and hasn't been mentioned in other reviews. When booking there is a charge for paying by debit card and a strict way to pitch
The dustbins weren't emptied and overflowing and the toilets although clean enough weren't cleaned the time we visited. The gate is locked at 11pm with no pedestrian access which is a bit annoying. A list of rules presented on arrival too. Lots of restrictions for responsible adults!won't be visiting again.

What a lovely pleasant campsite have stayed here many times and will be back many more times very clean site toilets cleaned twice a day. Dave and Karren are very friendly and helpful. This site is perfect place to stay to get away from buisy day to day life, great place for kids to play. Loads of animals for the kids to go look at and feed. Would recommend this site to any body.

We stayed here with our four kids and it was a really good site.
Lovely nature walk on site which the kids loved. The camping field was safe for kids, we could see them at all times as it's a small size which is great for young kids. Alpacas are in the adjacent field and there is brilliant views over the countryside. The owners were very friendly and helpful at all times. Fantastic site and we plan to return.

This is our third visit to Westgate or as we know it now as Dave and Karens. Its a lovely site with clean toilets and bins that are emptied more than once a day often, especially when the site is full, the owners are very caring people often going out of their way at all times of the day and night to help a camper out. Our children enjoy feeding the animals and we even get home or rather tent visits from the chickens. Fresh eggs are available every day and a coffee machine has just been added too. There are plenty of electric hookups and the pitch sizes are very generous. If it's not busy you can often choose your pitch too. The owners Dave and Karen along with Josh and Hanah have become from the very first visit friends of our children as have Dave and Karen become ours. We love to visit when over the Pickering direction even if not actually camping at the time just to say hi. There are no showers but if you don't mind a good wash in your tent or caravan then it's a definite recommendation. You'll leave as friends that's a guarantee.

This site is in a lovely location and it is perfectly flat with large well spaced pitches and plenty of open space to play. The setting is fantastic with a lovely walk down to a pretty little river and animals all around - our children were particularly fond of the very entertaining little goats. The facilities were basic but adequate for a single night and well looked after - a couple more toilets would have helped as there were quite a lot of tents on site when we were there. We would certainly return for the setting alone, but we wouldn't stay for more than one night without more amenities.
