We have just returned from here after two great weeks.
It is a lovely campsite and the wardens were very friendly and helpful.
We paid the extra to be on the side of the creek and the size of our pitch because of this was huge. Walking through the site some of the pitches seemed a bit cramped.
The downside to being next to the creek was we were eaten alive by the mozzies, most of them in stealth mode as lumps appeared all over you even if you didn't feel yourself being munched on.
The facilities were adequate, never once did I have to queue for a shower or the toilets and there was always hot water. The shower temperature could not be changed and in my opinion the showers were a little on the hot side, but I am a wuss and I like a cool shower. It also didn't help that I managed to catch a bit of sun
There are two washing up areas next to the toilets with three sinks in each. As has been mentioned in other reviews, there were no plugs in these or in any of the sinks in the toilet. I was speaking to the chappie who was cleaning the toilets and he said that as soon as they put a couple in they are taken again.I assume this is down to a few selfish campers wanting to make sure they always had a plug. Instead of just replacing a couple, if the site were to spend just a few pounds and put new plugs in each sink this would sort the problem.
My main moan about this site is the gents toilets. They are only cleaned once a day that I saw(in the morning). Whilst the sinks floor and toilets got a clean, in the entrance to the toilets was an old fashioned stainless steel communal urinal and in the whole two weeks we were there, this wasn't touched. I know this as there was some pebbles and a bit of rubbish in it that were there the whole time. They are relying on the cistern to clean it and this isn't enough and very soon after being cleaned the toilets are staring to smell like a dirty pub toilet again. This needs a deep clean every day or better yet replace the whole thing with three or four individual china urinals.
If you like sandy beaches then this area isn't for you. It is pebble city everywhere. The closest sandy beach is in a place called West Wittering and this is a magnificent beach on a private estate. It is about a half hour drive from Fishery creek. Parking for the day is £5 but take your own food drink and beach shelters/toys with you as they are mega expensive from the estate shops as they have the monopoly (£2.50 for a portion of chips, whilst nice chips, is a bit on the steep side)
Hayling Island seafront has a very run down feel to it. We were talking to a local lady and she said that a lot of the homes were second homes from 'out of towners' and stand empty for a lot of the time.
There are enough shops in the area to keep you going. If however you need to do a large food shop, there is a Tesco's in Havant but I would give it a miss as they don't have much in. Nip along to the Chichester Tesco instead, it is very easy to get to and is the largest Tesco I have ever been in and they sell everything. Don't go in rush hour though.
The road on and off the island to the campsite started to get very repetative as it is the only road you can take to get anywhere. Obviously this is not a fault of the campsite but by the end of the two weeks we were very bored of it.
All in all, a great hoilday was had by all and we would return, probably not for two weeks but for a long weekend definatley

This was our first visit to Hayling Island and after searching this website for a suitable site for our weekend plans the photos of the creek with the pitches alongside sold it too us, sadly we had to make do with a pitch the other side of one of the access roads but could still see the creek from our camper.
On arrival the staff were friendly and furnished us with a bundle of leaflets for the area and the barrier token (it cost £10 deposit to get one so keep a note handy for it) the pitch itself was perfectly sized for our 71 Volkswagen camper, but we struggled to find a flat spot and had to make do with being on a slight slope parked on a random patch of gravel (grass is much kinder on feet when wandering around shoeless!) the prices on the website don't match up to those on site as despite only two of us in a camper with no awning and no requirement for a hook up we got charged £17.50 and not the advertised £14.
We used the very overgrown creek path to go for a walk down to the seafront where the small selection of shops catered for all our needs, it was a little deserted which seemed odd for a sunny warm saturday in summer, but maybe the gusty winds were to blame.
In the evening we seemed to buck the trend of the adjacent pitches and sat and chatted, listened to the radio, read books and played a couple of boardgames, every other pitch seemed to have a TV blaring out which did become a little annoying but and it did carry on into the early hours too.
Overall a nice campsite, but more a caravan park for people that bring the whole house and all its entertainment with them and not really suited to our way of camping, but I'm sure others will enjoy the site.

Booked a weekend at Fishery Creek, found the pitch to be nice and flat and really good size and fenced off, the whole site was laid out attractive flowers and shrubs abound, the toilet block was clean if any adverse comments would be
Only one hand drier and no plugs to the sinks. When we asked about this it was because they had A 'Plug Pincher ' ! apparently they put in at least six new ones a week and they all get pinched. Also the site shop was very basic and had the bare minimum to offer.
This not a problem as only a five minute walk to a convenience store and also to the village.
You pay a refundable 10 pound for the barrier card on arrival, and the site was quite by 11 pm.
Hayling Island is like stepping back in time, it is peaceful and you won't find the large stores that dominate most towns, its back to doing your shopping in individual shops, the little village had a choice of cafe's a fish and chip shop, Indian and chinese take-aways an amusement arcade and a couple of tourist shops.
There was a land train that took you to the other end of the Island where there is a large funfair complex.
If you are into wind surfing, fishing, walking and nature conservation as this Island is full of wild flowers it is for you, nice clean Island and a good bus service which we found took you into Havant and Portsmouth if you wanted to get around.
We enjoyed the stay and would recommend for a long weekend.

I was really happy with the site and it's facilities. We had a really windy day and only managed to put our Gazebo up for about 2 hours before it broke! So although we didn't use it we weren't given a refund for the extra we paid.
The staff otherwise were very friendly and helpful. The beach is about a 5-10min walk. We chose a pitch when we booked alongside the creek and it was lovely to watch the tide coming in and out and we had a large area with fences either side. Watch what you book though because some of the inner pitches (although cheaper) seemed quite cramped and small. The camp shop is very limited but there is a small convenience shop 5 minutes away and a larger Tesco and Somerfield inland about 5 mins drive.

We weren't overly impressed with Fishery Creek.
We were assigned a pitch along the lake side which had an unreasonably long reach to the EHU point, so we had to be moved to a pitch further up - near the creek. This was a better situation but the pitch was far smaller. Not a problem for our small unit though. Most of the pitches appeared to be quite large, and all are separated by small wooden fences which we liked. We enjoyed watching the ebb and flow of the tidal creek and it was a short walk into the town.
We weren't impressed when a tractor came along and started working on the area right next to our new pitch in the middle of the afternoon though. Also felt that the standard of the loos, and showers to a lesser extent, were not what we would have hoped especially given the rate per night at this site. The sinks were full of insects most of the time, no way I was going to wash in those!
We felt Hayling Island itself seemed a bit run down, and there were lots of buildings with boarded up windows.
I don't think we will be going back again.

We've been regulars at this site for the past 5 years and I can't say enough good things about it. Friendly staff, great views, clean facilities, great pitches and friendly fellow site users!
Unfortunatly we visited in the first week of July and the heavens opened and winds battered us constantly in only what can be described as 'freak weather'. No worries though as a holiday is what you make it and the times when we were worried about the tent being blown into the creek was soon soothed by the fun of it all and the bottles of vodka and rum.
Aside the weather which we really didn't let ruin our fun there are a lot of activities to be enjoyed around the site and surrounding areas. The favourite had to be the amusements and funfair which always provide excellent entertainment! The islands restaurants also get a special mention and be sure to try out the dukes breakfast at Delias cafe! Awesome!
The local pubs are also a joy to visit with a special mention to the Lifeboat by the seafront. One pub to avoid though would be one just up the road from the Lifeboat, (not the Caribou, the other way!) as we found the people inside rude arrogant and intolerant of anyone not from the island.
There are loads of other things to mention but I'd be taking up way too much space if I did. I suggest that anyone looking at this campsite should at least book a short break or week long holiday as you won't be disappointed!

My partner and I paid our first visit to this site and to Hayling Island this year and we were really pleased with our stay.
The site operatives were very friendly and full of local information. The site itself was very clean and nice flat pitches (what a bonus) We really enjoyed our early morning walks by the creek and our late nights with the locals at the pub!
We had a couple of long walks into Langstone harbour across the sea front and wish we had booked more than a long weekend.
We were so impressed by the whole area we are looking for a place to buy early next year. What more can we say!

We are quite new to camping and have only stayed in 5-6 sites to date although we have spent some time travelling around looking at sites / facilities etc to get an idea of what to expect!
This time we chose a close site with a good review. We stayed with some friends and had four pitches in total over a long (3-day) weekend.
On putting the tent up, a neighbour warned us of roosting pigeons in the adjacent tree and we moved everything over slightly - a wise move as it turned out!
We all had a great time and the weather was kind. I thought the views were super, the overall facilities clean and well kept (showers and toilets), the pitches very generous (especially as we have a large tent) and everyone there friendly and helpful (staff and other campers). I even managed a bit of fishing in the creek with some success. I'll have to learn the difference between a Mullet and a Bass.
It is a quiet place and there are areas for walking as far or not as you want.
During the weekend we ran out of gas and found it quite difficult finding replacements and when we did find what we needed it was expensive.
Overall a quiet site with access to most things and it is certainly one of the better sites we have stayed at.

We went as two couples, my partner and myself with our dog, and our friends with a child of four years old. My partner and I are both in wheelchairs, we can do pretty much everything apart from climbing trees! On a serious note in case any other reader is in our situation we are both paraplegic.
As mentioned in a previous comment about this site, upon arrival we were held up by a huge recycling lorry trying to reverse out of the recycling center! No smells, It was recycling only. We waited for our plot to be ready as we had hastily arrived at 11:30am and had half an hour to wander round site to get our bearings. Reception had told us when we phoned to book that there were disabled facilities and gave us a key each to the *disabled* showers. We set up camp, put the kettle on and sat on our premier pitch looking out towards the creek. After tea and biscuits the inevitable time came when we all trundled off looking for the toilets.
My partner went first, came back hurriedly and told me there were no disabled toilets! He went back to reception to ask were it was, and told that they had used a normal toilet, swung the door round the opposite way, outwards, which meant no room for a wheelchair and person to maneuver inside. Now obviously many disabled people may be able to get away with this scenario, but being paraplegic it means whenever I move, I need room to lift my legs with my hands, be able to swing round, hopefully have something to hold onto, and the most useful thing to me is to have space. Also if you like to look in the mirror when your washing your hands, take your own! I could see the top fluffy curls on the top of my head and that was it!
Partner went to reception again, and was told they had never had any complaints before, the land and building are owned by the council and leased to the proprietors, so they must be ok! Staff were concerned and seemed to understand and came to look at the facilities for advice on what was really needed. They said they would contact the council to see what could be done.
The showers were ok-ish. I was able to wash! Only problem for me was that the shower seat that was fixed to the wall was fixed higher that the height of my wheelchair, which meant my feet dangled off and I really had to stay very still to make sure I didn't slip off the seat!
As I said earlier on If you can walk if only a few steps or are able to put weight through your legs it would have been fine. I'm sure not many campsites see vast numbers of paraplegics entering their sites, so they really don't know what is needed. I would only be cross with this site if next year we went there and it was still the same. Rules came in quite a few years ago that service providers have to provide facilities for all and there are quite a few regulations on the matter.
We have been to many campsites, and many have dedicated blocks ie wet-rooms/ family rooms which have been more than satisfactory.
Now for the positive bit! We had a lovely time, our friends child had a lovely time which meant everyone was happy! The riverside walks are lovely and we did get round them in our chairs, the tide changes were beautiful too! The seaside town of Hayling Island, kept our business for two days and two cups of cappuccino each.

We stayed here for a long weekend. We had a creek view pitch which was lovely! The showers were very well kept and clean. Our pitch was flat and sheltered. This is a great place to discover Portsmouth. Hayling Island itself doesn't have that much to offer so this site is a great place if you are going for the real outdoor, BBQ, living outdoors experience. We found we would rather stay around our tent than go out as the campsite was so friendly and Hayling Island didn't offer much. Would highly recommend the site.
