We've been to this site camping before but this was the first time in our caravan and as usual there were no problem's with the site or it's facilities. It's a short walk into the town itself so you can forget about the car if you don't mind walking, some good pub's in town serving decent food / ale and good shop's if you want to shop locally. Will definitely go back to this site again as we have been doing for about 5 year's now.

Spent 2 nights here just after Easter. Brilliant site, perfectly situated for a 10min walk into the town over Devils Bridge (a torch is a must if returning after dark!). Toilet facilities excellent, clean and warm.
Shop well stocked with prices of our purchases cheaper than off camp.
Excellent pubs in town, all dog friendly, even those serving food. Our favourite was the Red Lion and the Orange Tree. The Kings Arms has a big screen for the football fans too! Oh and the butchers in town sells brilliant hot beef pie and mushy peas all for £1.50, well recommended!

We have camped on this site at least 5 times in the past 3 years, last weekend was our first with the caravan and yet again this site did not let us down. Even with the owner away for the weekend the toilet block and all the other facilities on the site were kept clean and tidy. The pitches are now nearly all hard standing which is a must for us and with a tv ariel point. We did the walk to town twice a day. We would definitely recommend the cheese shop and butchers and 3 of the pubs were child and dog friendly. We would highly recommend this site to new or experienced campers or caravanners

Brilliant site. Basic facilities no bar or cafe but all of a high standard. Close to kirkby lonsdale centre about 10mins walk. Only complaint when it rains camping area gets very boggy but had a wonderful time with 3 kids would use site again . Gonna try wigwams!

Ok I was born in Kirby so wil be biased but this site is fab.
Friendly wardens (now) super reception area. Playground safe for kids. Dog walk down country lanes. Great family shower rooms heated and were free?? Novelty now I'm finding. We had seasonal pitch. The village is a 15 min walk and river for a swim 5 mins. Bacon butty van on Devil's Bridge is renowned in North West, 5 mins away.
Barbon Beck is a locally known site for picnicking and paddling, 20 mins drive. Level pitches. Sheltered but sunny. Handy for Kendal 30 mins drive and Settle.
Village has chippy, check opening times. Renowned for its pub crawl facilities. You can take the dogs into the red dragon and have a lovely steak. The Sun is good for food too. I ilke Snooty beer garden and for drinks there is also a posh wine bar.
You can fruit pick at Underley Hall.
Lunesdale Bakery lovely bread and cakes.
A must see site. Highly recommended.

We are novice campers and this was the last week of our maiden camping holiday. Although the camping area was very muddy we didn't let the conditions dampen our spirits and we made the most of the excellent facilities in and around the campsite. If we were cold and wet when got back to the site we were soon up beat for the next days activities following a hot shower and a glass of wine. Facilities are excellent on site and they have been mentioned before , but I would like to recommend a few other places :
We have a labrador and most of the pubs welcomed well behaved dogs , the Reg Dragon (town centre) was excellent as well as the Orange tree all accepted our mutt and provided well priced high quality food - try the home made soups they are fantastic and all recommended by the staff on site. On Thursdays there is a market , try the home made cakes they are to die for , also try the the butchers and the cheese shops in the centre there outstanding.
Future
This is already an excellent location but once all the new plans for the camping area have been completed this winter , this will be the place to be !
Thanks to all the staff for making our first camping trip a memorable one.

Well, took our 14 month old son here for his first holiday! (sorry for those who camped with us) he cried occasionally, but! slept more during the night than ever before! Weather was a let down, but great british weather hey! Site was fantastic, Absolutely everything you could wish for, Shower blocks were fantastic, clean, pleasant & large. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great base for holiday in the lakes. Only hope they do something with the access to the tenting camping area as when the rain falls, its falls and getting stuck in the mud etc is not funny, (i hear they are going to do just that!)
Overall, Excellent holiday, Would def return!.

Great site, very close to Kirkby Lonsdale, you can walk along footpaths (cross one main road) in 10 minutes. KL has lovely (pricey) shops, pubs, cafes, and a riverside walk.
Site has good loos, showers, dishwashing areas (didn't use the laundry but it looked good) Large shop on site with all sorts including reasonably priced kids toys. Staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Definitely recommend.

Second visit of the year to this site, and we already have another booked. We usually go further into the Lakes and chose this site initially because work commitments this year mean we can only get away on a Friday evening most weeks so wanted a shorter journey.
What a gem this place is.
Agreeing with previous reviewers, the facilities are second to none, particularly the shower / wet rooms, which contain toilet, wash basin, shower, stool in a large private room. The other toilets all have their own wash basin in each room too, and are brilliant for privacy and if you have kids. It's worth mentioning there are nappy changing facilities in the shower rooms, too, though my kids are long past that!
The reception/shop is well stocked for all the necessities and the unplanned-for ( good supply of sun-cream, which we needed during our May visit as it was unseasonally HOT!) and you can order morning papers. The owners are fantastic- friendly and accommadating.
Devil's Bridge is great at the weekends - the bikers are a sight to behold, and through the week you get the chance to paddle in the river without the crowds.
Must mention the chippy in Kirkby Lonsdale on Jingling Lane (how fab is that name?!) - it's good! Try the pollock - cheaper than cod, nicer and bigger! If you can't wait till you get back to the campsite, sit by the river in the picnic area - very peaceful.
What we love about this site is that even thought the camping field is small compared to the main statics/tourers field, it is just as well maintained, beautifully secluded but within easy reach of facilities, and you feel just about as private as you can in a tent!
Fantastic!

First real proper camping trip for me, Janine and Holly (Dog). Had a really good time and from the moment we got there the woman who showed us our camping spot was really friendly and made us feel welcome. We set up just as it started to rain! typical but it was only a brief shower and then the sun was out again. My girlfriend has a phobia of horrible toilets so its a really good job we came here. They were superb, really clean and the showers were warm and clean and able to use at any point, didn't queue. We had a good day on the Saturday had a nice dog walk down past the river up 80000 steps and then into the town which is small but very nice and then obviously into a pub which allowed dogs which was great because the place is very dog friendly. She was shattered so lay there while I tried a good few guest ales.
Then we walked back and then decided we would treat ourselves to a nice dinner so went back to the pub and had a lovely meal slightly over budget but really nice. Went back to the campsite and relaxed for the evening with a few glasses of wine and some music. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this campsite to anybody looking for a nice time away. We wish we could have stayed another night because we were just getting into the swing of it! Going to book our next trip next month and hope its as good as this one, we have the camping bug and coming to this campsite has made us happy campers!
