It's ten years since I camped here with two of my children for a weekend. However, we visit the town very often for days out and walks as it and the area around are so very beautiful.
Just last month we visited and our walk took us through the campsite. It is every bit as good as when we stayed. I was very impressed with the family washrooms. In 15 years of camping I've not come across these elsewhere.
The town has nice shops, tea rooms, pubs, spar, Booths supermarket, and a chippy.
But if you are not touring around then walking, cycling, fishing and chilling are your options.

Really fantastic place, well-run, maintained & equipped.
Genuinely friendly staff & owners, lovely place - we'll definitely go again, with kids next time.
We just went on two bikes, one tiny tent, and were made to feel very welcome. The shop has everything, including great coffee, for those ill-equipped like us!
Thanks everyone - it was great.

Just had 5 nights with 8year old. Excellent site, well looked after with immaculate facilities. The touring area has 4 'bathrooms' shower, sink and toilet all in one room and all included in the price so not scratting around for change. The staff are very friendly and more than helpful. Seems to attract a friendly bunch of people and we needed them trying to put our awning up in the wind!
Booths Supermarket is rather expensive but the shop on site is pretty well equipped for day to day stuff and reasonably priced, Asda and Morrisons in Kendal are only 25mins away
Very safe feel to the site, playground the main social area for anyone up to 10 years old
Definitely return again.

Great site, well run and tended. The tent field is separated from the touring caravan area, by a short walk over a cattle grid/pedestrian gate which is well lit a night, and feels pleasantly secure. The field is central to the excellent toilet and washing facilities, shop and play area. Friendly staff along with wonderful weather made this a thoroughly enjoyable stay for my husband, children and myself. The tent field is fairly level and the pitches are defined when you book in so that every tent has enough space to allow a little distance from your neighbour. The play area was a great draw for both my children and the equipment is modern and well maintained, a great meeting place to form those wonderfully rapid friendships children make. Kirby Lonsdale is just a pleasant 15 minute walk away over The Devils Bridge if you choose. Picturesque and bustling Kirby offers places to snack and drink, with a small but adequate Spar for supplies. Booths supermarket is located not far from the site,if you cant get what you need at the site shop. Book well in advance to avoid being disappointed (as we were this August), this seems to be a popular site and with justification.

Visited Woodclose just last week after finding it on this site. I must say that it lived up to its reviews. This is a fantastic site. It is spacious, clean and modern. The shower and toilet facilities are excellent. It has a play area for children which is also safe an modern. The site has a well stocked shop but we found it closed on a couple of occasions during the day, this is only to be expected I suppose as the couple who run the site seem to work tirelessly within the site. The site doesnt have a bar/pub but the short walk to the village is fine even for young children. The site is perfectly situated for the nearby Devils Bridge, this itself is worth a visit, we spent a full day at the bridge playing in the river Lune which is a good clean river. It was a good old fashioned family day and should not be missed (weather permitting of course). On a Saturday and Sunday loads of motorcyclists visit the bridge for a meet and a butty from the van nearby, don't be put off by this, if anything this adds to the experience. The modern biker is in his/her 30 -40s and are well mannered and polite. Enjoy the different bikes to look at. We certainly did. Kirkby Lonsdale is a short 10 minute walk from the site and is a great little village which warmly welcomes visitors. It has all the shops, cafe, pubs and restaurants that you would expect. Booths supermarket and a well stocked petrol station are on the edge of the village which provide everything you could wish for. There are far too many attractions nearby to visit but we stayed to the east of the M6 to leave the Lakes for another visit. Ingleton Falls Walk, Inglebouorgh caves and Skipton with its castle were all visited and proved to be excellent value for money and enjoyable family days. Will certainly visit again.

Have just come back from this fab site. Very clean and welcoming. The showers on this site are the best we've come across, very large so you can shower all the kids in comfort. Kirkby Lonsdale is a beautiful place, we took a stroll over Devils Bridge along the River Lune, which the kids absolutely loved, they spent ages just playing skimming stone across the water. The actual walk to town was probably ten to fifteen minutes. We went to Hawes for the day, which is probably about 20 miles away, but well worth a visit. There's a Rope Factory, a great playground for the kids. The wensleydale cheese factory, and to top it all a super outdoor/indoor market. We would definitely go again to this site couldn't fault it.

Stayed her a couple of weeks after Easter by chance. Directions can be a little confusing but maybe that was just me. Me, my sister, my 7 year old and 2 dogs stayed with EHU. Was very quiet with the tent field less than half full. Very impressed with the facilities, especially the showers - wish every campsite had them! Absolutely immaculate. I was particularly impressed with the security to the tent field as it was separated by a public bridleway from the site - cctv at the gate. Daughter loved the play park and the shop was well stocked for the young-uns and anything you may have forgotten to pack. Out and about you are very close to Ribbleshead viaduct, Dent and just about all of the Yorkshire Dales are within easy driving distance. Very friendly and informative staff who let us know about the various wildlife about. Very near to a Virgin air balloon launch site which caused a bit of excitement on the 2nd night but scared the living daylights out of one of the dogs when one popped over the hill low level. Watch out for bats and badgers - oh and we had dormice in the tent during the night. The short cut walk into Kirby Lonsdale is through the site down a steep hill coming out on to Devils Bridge which was very busy with motor cyclists. Only noise at night was from the main road nearby but not a nuisance. Wonderful place for a quiet weekend and would go again without hesitation.

We absolutely loved this site. Everything said about the toilets and showers is true - fabulous. Great when you have to shower children as there is loads of room. I just wish people would use the rubber 'brush' that is in each shower to clear up all the excess water. Each toilet has a radiator in it which is great in the evening and there was always hot water for washing up and the facilities are completely sheltered. The children loved the park and table tennis. The site just looks so pristine. The camping field felt quite secluded and was flatter for those with EHU. As we didn't have EHU we were on the opposite side on a very slight slope and next to a field of rather noisy sheep. It was nice cooking whilst being stared at by lambs. Did put me off the kebabs though! We had a lovely walk into Kirkby Lonsdale along the river. The bank near Devil's Bridge on a hot Saturday afternoon looked like Blackpool beach and there were young lads jumping off the bridge into the river which, if you saw it, looked like sheer lunacy! Weekend on the bridge appears to be a bikers meeting place and so was a hive of activity. Ingleton Falls is only a 10-15 minute drive away and worth a visit. We did struggle to find somewhere to eat at Sunday tea time and ended up having to drive into Kendal. Would love to know where is recommended nearby as we would definitely visit this site again.

We got to stay at this park by luck, as I checked late availability and there was a cancellation. It is a beautiful park, the surrounding area is lovely. the shop is very well stocked, the staff very friendly. you cannot use a card in the shop though but you can pay your site fees with a card as they are run separately, so take cash if you would like to buy from the shop! :-) The pay area is nice for the kids, its on a gentle slope but not a problem, there's also outdoor table tennis for the kids and adults. The touring area is level and the park is set out really well, the most amazing showers I have seen! honestly these showers have to be seen to be believed, its as though there's a load of bathrooms. In each private shower unit there's a toilet sink shelf, chair and massive spacious shower ! like a wet room. short walk to the bridge then 10 mins alongside the river into the pretty village of Kirkby Lonsdale. We stopped by the river its shallow enough for paddling. its a beautiful site in a beautiful area cannot fault it and would recommend to all

Wow, what a site, despite the awful weather (which can't be helped) we had a lovely time at this site. The showers are immaculate and excellent, they are individual rooms with wet room style showers, best I've ever been in, and makes it easy to shower a 3 year old! We had to queue once but not for long. I like night time showers and found it great as there is an individual radiator in each shower- I used it to warm my nightshirt whilst showering! We had a choice of 2 pitches and the one we were on was very spacious. We never felt hemmed in. The shop was quite well stocked and open quite late. The owners were really helpful, they even helped us unhook the camper and wheel it into position. The playground was good, but didn't appeal to my 3 year old that much, but he was happy to play inside (as it was so cold!) We will definitely be returning here. Think I may have been spoilt now this year- don't think I will find another site to measure up to this one! Kirkby Lonsdale wasn't far to walk to but given the cold we didn't venture far without the car!
